- Chapter 64 - “Jing-jiejie~ You smell so good...”
Slowly opening her eyes, a familiar scent drifted to Lu Xiaoxiao. Subconsciously, she rubbed herself against the softness beside her, burrowing deeper into Tantai Jing’s embrace.
Tantai Jing had stayed up all night, guarding the unconscious Lu Xiaoxiao, not daring to leave for a single step. Upon realizing Lu Xiaoxiao was awake, she cupped her face, making her look directly into her eyes.
Those beautiful almond eyes still held the blank, empty confusion of waking from a nightmare, and the dark circles underneath revealed Lu Xiaoxiao’s exhaustion and weariness.
She said nothing, merely instinctively reaching out her arms to hug Tantai Jing even tighter around the waist, as if only by completely merging into the other person’s body could she dispel all the anxiety in her heart.
“I had a terrible nightmare. Everyone died, and even you…”
…didn’t want me anymore.
Lu Xiaoxiao couldn’t utter the second half of the sentence. It felt as though just saying the words would drain all her strength.
Tantai Jing kissed Lu Xiaoxiao’s forehead, tucking the messy wisps of hair behind her ear.
“Xiaoxiao, that wasn’t a dream, it was an illusion. Don’t be afraid, you are out now.” Tantai Jing continually stroked her back, smoothing down Lu Xiaoxiao’s thin spine repeatedly.
The person in her arms didn’t answer her but hugged her even tighter. A few intermittent sobs reached Tantai Jing’s ears, and the cloth on her shoulder gradually felt damp.
“Aunt Wan and Qingyi are both outside, and perhaps Senior Sister will find her way here in a few days; they are all fine. Speaking of which, can you guess who I came here with to find you? You definitely won’t be able to.”
“It was with Aunt Wan and Qingyi. Actually, I was originally going to look for Luo Mu…”
Her voice abruptly stopped. Tantai Jing suddenly remembered the scene in the Golden Light Mirror where Yan Sihong, disguised as herself, was intimately involved with Luo Mu. However, the words were already spoken and could not be taken back.
She felt the shoulders of the person in her arms begin to tremble lightly. The whimpering gradually grew louder, soaking a large patch of the clothes on her chest.
Lu Xiaoxiao’s continuous sobs reached her ears, and an indescribable emotion welled up in Tantai Jing, leaving her momentarily flustered.
She was not someone who was skilled at comforting others, especially when facing such sensitive and fragile emotions as Lu Xiaoxiao’s.
Her initial intention was to help Lu Xiaoxiao clearly distinguish between the illusion and reality, and prevent those fabricated experiences from affecting their relationship. However, it now seemed the effect was counterproductive, even making things worse.
Tantai Jing said frantically: “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, please don’t cry. I shouldn’t have mentioned Luo Mu, and I shouldn’t have gone to find her first.”
“I should have come to find you much earlier, and none of this would have happened.”
Tantai Jing gently stroked the beautiful hair at Lu Xiaoxiao’s forehead and kissed her tenderly.
“So why did you go to find Luo Mu first? Is it because, to you, she is more important than me?” Lu Xiaoxiao’s muffled voice came from her embrace.
The unexpected question made Tantai Jing panic. She anxiously cupped Lu Xiaoxiao’s face, using her thumb to wipe away the continuous flow of tears. Looking at the distressed and defeated eyes before her, it felt as though countless needles were pricking her heart.
Her eyes stung, and she softly comforted Lu Xiaoxiao: “How could that be? You are the most important person to me. It’s just that I was closer to her at the time, and I received her transmission talisman. She said she was in dire straits and very dangerous, so I went.”
Lu Xiaoxiao said glumly: “Oh, then you’re amazing. You successfully rescued her, right?”
She turned her head, breaking free from Tantai Jing’s hands, and faced away from her.
Tantai Jing chased after her, placing her hands under Lu Xiaoxiao’s arms and hugging her tightly from behind, whispering: “Yes, and I also rescued Wan Qingyi along with her.”
Lu Xiaoxiao was so angry her teeth felt itchy, wanting to push Tantai Jing’s arms away again, but she couldn’t bring herself to do it. She was afraid that being too cold would hurt Tantai Jing’s feelings, so she could only weakly look at the tent curtain as tears streamed down her face.
“I saw what happened in the Golden Light Mirror; it was absolutely ridiculous. Luo Mu and I are just friends; how could we do something so disgusting? Let alone on the day of your and my wedding.”
“Furthermore, the notion of the Demon Clan attacking your Xuantian Sword Sect is entirely unfounded. While I don’t know what Yan Gengshen is thinking, my foster mother would never do such a vile thing, and we would certainly never associate with Yan Gengshen.”
“However, I was quite satisfied with the wedding…”
Tantai Jing said this against her conscience. When she tried to think of what exactly she was satisfied with, she couldn’t pinpoint anything. After all, in her heart, the wedding absolutely had to take place on Mount Gouwu, and Lu Xiaoxiao had already said she was willing to return to Mount Gouwu with her.
But Lu Xiaoxiao only responded to Tantai Jing with silence.
The endless silence made Tantai Jing feel even more parched. If she listened closely, she could hear the dull sound of tears dripping onto the pillow.
While feeling heartache for Lu Xiaoxiao, a layer of grievance also covered Tantai Jing’s heart.
She had done nothing wrong and had rushed to save her immediately, yet an utterly baseless rift had formed between the two of them.
It’s all that wretched mirror’s fault! Once I’ve managed to coax her back to normal, I’m definitely going to smash that awful mirror to pieces to vent my frustration.
“Do you know why my foster mother was separated from Wan Xuan’er for hundreds of years only to be locked up by her again?”
Lu Xiaoxiao blinked, squeezing the tears out of her eyes. Even though she knew it was an illusion, the thought of Tantai Jing and that Luo Mu doing that kind of thing together still made her unbearably sad.
After all, they were friends with two hundred years of history. She and Tantai Jing had only known each other for two years. What if Tantai Jing really found her childish and boring one day, and Luo Mu seized the opportunity? Lu Xiaoxiao didn’t dare to imagine it.
While her mind was wandering, she unconsciously waited for the second half of Tantai Jing’s sentence. But after waiting for a long time, the person behind her didn’t continue speaking. Lu Xiaoxiao couldn’t suppress her curiosity and asked in a muffled voice: “Why?”
Seeing that Lu Xiaoxiao had taken the bait, Tantai Jing felt relieved. She exerted slight pressure on her arms, turning Lu Xiaoxiao to face her.
Looking at the tear-filled Lu Xiaoxiao, her eyelashes were wet with tears, appearing even darker and longer in the soft lamplight.
Seeing this poor little thing looking so utterly miserable, she suddenly felt an urge to playfully pinch her little cheek again.
Tantai Jing swallowed, suppressing the urge to tease her, and continued: “Because my foster mother really gathered forces and prepared to attack the Yaoxia Palace.”
“Ah? Then she wasn’t wronged at all for being locked up.”
This reason was truly unexpected for Lu Xiaoxiao. It seemed that Fuzhao was not a good person either, cut from the same cloth as that Yan Gengshen.
Tantai Jing pulled the blanket higher, covering Lu Xiaoxiao’s shoulder which had slipped out because of her restlessness, and continued: “Actually, one could say she was somewhat wronged, because her original intention was not to attack the Yaoxia Palace. It was a slip of the tongue while drunk that got reported to the Yaoxia Palace.”
Lu Xiaoxiao widened her eyes even further, tugging on the sleeve inside the blanket, urging her to continue.
“It’s just that my foster mother was also young and hot-headed at the time. She always believed that Palace Master Wan’s gradual alienation was not because she discovered she was a demon, so she continued to visit the Yaoxia Palace every month to see Palace Master Wan, but she was denied a meeting for hundreds of years. Later, she picked me up, and then continued sending letters to the Yaoxia Palace for a century.”
Lu Xiaoxiao opened her mouth, speechless. She never expected Fuzhao, that cold-hearted, wicked woman, to be so devoted: “You really couldn’t tell at all.”
Tantai Jing continued: “This went on for nearly four hundred years. One day, my foster mother truly couldn’t stand it anymore. On a certain day when she broke through to the late stage of Tribulation Crossing, she was drinking with many demons to drown her sorrows. While drunk, she boasted that she would lead all the demons to attack the Yaoxia Palace, insisting on taking Palace Master Wan back to Mount Gouwu.”
Lu Xiaoxiao pouted her lips. She hadn’t expected Fuzhao to be a braggart when she was young: “As far as I know, the Demon Clan probably doesn’t have the strength for that. Last time, if it weren’t for a problem with Aunt Wan’s cultivation technique, I doubt you would have been able to rescue Fuzhao.”
The moment the words left her mouth, her cheek was pinched by Tantai Jing. Seeing that she was no longer upset, Tantai Jing also joked with her: “Oh, you, Lu Xiaoxiao! You’ve gotten bolder, daring to criticize my foster mother right to my face.”
Lu Xiaoxiao’s speech was slightly slurred from the pinch: “I dare not, I dare not. Please spare me, Demon King! Please continue, what happened next?”
Tantai Jing released her hand and rubbed Lu Xiaoxiao’s reddened face: “Later, my foster mother returned to Mount Gouwu, slept, and completely forgot about the whole thing. But a busybody spread the news about her plan to attack the Yaoxia Palace. A few days later, Palace Master Wan brought her Four Great Guardians and fought her way onto Mount Gouwu to take my foster mother away.”
“That’s it?” Lu Xiaoxiao asked incredulously. That was too ridiculous.
“Yes, that’s it. Now, do you think my foster mother deserved to be locked up in the Yaoxia Palace?”
Lu Xiaoxiao frowned: “If you put it that way, no, she didn’t deserve it. She was quite unlucky. The first time she fell in love, she got dumped. Then, she was devoted for four hundred years, receiving no response and no meetings. The first time she saw her beloved four hundred years later, she was arrested by her and her people, and subsequently imprisoned in the Demon-Locking Tower for another hundred years.”
“My heavens, Fuzhao is too tragic. Is your information accurate? I remember you didn’t know about this last time I went back to Mount Gouwu with you.”
Tantai Jing placed her hand on Lu Xiaoxiao’s waist: “Accurate. This is what my foster mother personally told me when she was trying to persuade me not to be with you.”
“And what did you tell her?”
Lu Xiaoxiao’s eyes were sparkling. Since Tantai Jing was still lying in the same bed with her, it meant she hadn’t listened to Fuzhao’s advice, and a little sweetness welled up in her heart.
“I told her that I am not you, and Xiaoxiao is not Palace Master Wan. The two situations cannot be compared at all. Xiaoxiao treats me very well; she would absolutely not bear to hurt my feelings, nor would she let me suffer any grievances, and she certainly wouldn’t wrong me without cause.”
Lu Xiaoxiao blushed upon hearing this. She had just been blaming Tantai Jing for baseless reasons.
Knowing that Tantai Jing was gently calling her out, Lu Xiaoxiao used the opportunity to lean in and gently peck Tantai Jing’s lips twice: “Jing-jiejie is completely right. I will absolutely never hurt your feelings, nor will I let you suffer grievances or wrong you. If you don’t believe me, you can put the Love Gu on me again. If I ever go against this, you can let the Love Gu torture me to its heart’s content.”
Lu Xiaoxiao said with a cheerful smile, then saw Tantai Jing raise an eyebrow, say, “Really?”, and begin searching around on her body.
Frightened, she quickly moved on top of her, pressing down on Tantai Jing’s searching hands, and said flusteredly: “Of course it’s real, but there’s no rush! We haven’t seen each other for so long, let me just hold you properly first.”
She then began stroking Tantai Jing’s side profile and kissed her, using the opportunity to block whatever Tantai Jing was about to say. They hadn’t been intimate for a long time. The instant their lips connected, Lu Xiaoxiao felt an enjoyable tingling sensation on her scalp.
Tantai Jing’s breathing gradually became somewhat ragged…
“Don’t… don’t take off my clothes. It’s still daytime! Xiaoxiao!” Tantai Jing’s fragmented voice escaped between their lips. At the same time, she tried to grab Lu Xiaoxiao’s hand, which was moving restlessly on her waist.
Lu Xiaoxiao’s kisses gently landed on Tantai Jing’s neck, then slowly moved up to her flushed earlobe, lightly enclosing it in her mouth and then releasing it: “But I miss you so much, Jing-jiejie~”
Taking advantage of Tantai Jing’s momentary body stiffness, Lu Xiaoxiao unfastened Tantai Jing’s belt, and her fingers slipped under the clothes, climbing up to lightly grip her…
Tantai Jing let out an uncontrolled moan, turning her face toward the side of the curtain. Her fair face instantly flushed crimson, and she desperately bit the back of her hand pressed against her lips, afraid of making another sound.
It was a long time before Lu Xiaoxiao released her neck, no longer saying things that would make her feel shy and irritated. However, her entire body began to move slowly downward. Everywhere she went, a thin layer of fine bumps appeared on Tantai Jing’s skin, and Tantai Jing’s delicate body trembled uncontrollably.
Lu Xiaoxiao’s tent was in the central area. As a half-demon, Tantai Jing’s hearing had always been excellent. Even through the tent, she could hear the footsteps of people coming and going outside, and the low whispers of the Xuantian Sword Sect disciples as they passed by.
“Don’t… not here… Wait… wait until we leave the Lancang Demon Territory,” Tantai Jing pushed Lu Xiaoxiao, who was immersed in her body. However, her body was already too soft, so her push was more like an encouragement.
Lu Xiaoxiao, at this moment, was completely deaf. During the competition in Dongchang City, Tantai Jing was unwilling to be overly intimate with her, and she had endured it for a long time. Now, with a beauty in her arms and clothes half-undone, how could she pay attention to anything else? She was merely engrossed in their physical intimacy.
Seeing that Lu Xiaoxiao not only did not restrain herself but also ignored her words and began to take off her own clothes, Tantai Jing had no choice but to pull a corner of the blanket over her eyes. She also extended one hand to cast a barrier around the entire tent, isolating the scent and sound inside, to prevent anyone from accidentally intruding. Finally, she didn’t forget to use magic to conceal the bright light, plunging the entire tent into darkness.
Once all the magic was complete, Lu Xiaoxiao had already stripped them both naked and kissed her again.
“Jing-jiejie~ You smell so good…”
