Pretending to Be a Submissive O: My Fiancee Is a Little Pup - Chapter 24
“So, Director Yu, does your sweetheart not approve either?” Ji Yaran asked unhurriedly.
As soon as those words left her lips, Yu Shi’s expression stiffened, and her grip unconsciously loosened.
Ji Yaran calmly withdrew her hand.
She looked at Yu Shi, her voice tinged with irony. “Director Yu, you appearing here today is clearly to act as a guardian for your sweetheart. It’s been over a month since we last met. I trust you don’t feel that I am indispensable. In that case, why bother pestering me again?”
Ji Yaran knew that to Yu Shi, she was nothing more than a ‘chicken rib’ something tasteless to eat yet a pity to discard. Even if Yu Shi no longer needed her, she still wanted to keep her locked in a cage, never allowing anyone else to touch her.
Yu Shi viewed her as a possession, but unfortunately for her, Ji Yaran was no fool.
“That’s because you moved!” Speaking of this, Yu Shi was consumed with rage. Ji Yaran had actually moved out of her old place without saying a single word!
Thinking back to how she had bought a pile of designer clothes and bags to visit her at the Shangjia Apartments, Yu Shi felt like an absolute idiot.
She had actually been played for a fool by a bodydouble!
When she discovered Ji Yaran had moved, she thought about digging up her new address. However, before her people could find it, she received news that Ji Yaran was filming on set.
In the drama Embracing When the Snow Falls, Ji Yaran was playing the second female lead, a villain. In the past, the resources Yu Shi had given her were always for leading roles.
It took only a little digging to find the production’s hotel. It was even near the hotel where she and Liu Jiayan were staying at the time, only a fifteen minute drive apart.
But she didn’t want to make a scene at Ji Yaran’s film set.
As a renowned director, wouldn’t it be a massive joke if word got out that she was chasing a bodydouble to a film set just to cause trouble?
She had originally planned to find another time to meet Ji Yaran, but she hadn’t expected to run into her today while accompanying Liu Jiayan for an endorsement shoot.
“Since I moved, it means I want to start over. Director Yu should just forget the past. If you keep pestering me, I’m sure your sweetheart won’t be happy either.”
Ji Yaran paused, a faint smile playing on her lips. “Your sweetheart is right here today. Does Director Yu really want to take me back right in front of her?”
Yu Shi bit her lip, clearly wanting to say more. “Yaran, if you’re doing this because you’re jealous…”
Before she could finish, a figure suddenly flashed before them.
Song Qingxue stepped in front of Ji Yaran. Her fox like eyes were filled with an indifference that made one shiver.
“Hey, lady, didn’t you hear her say she doesn’t want to go with you?”
Song Qingxue’s voice was cold and low, like a poison tipped blade. The surrounding air seemed to turn murderous with that single warning.
It actually caused Yu Shi to feel a flicker of pressure she had never experienced before.
The moment she realized this, she found it unbelievable.
As a pure Alpha, how could she feel intimidated by a plain, unremarkable Omega?
How… was that possible?
“If you want to force someone against their will, remember that cars don’t have eyes. If you end up lying in a hospital bed, don’t go getting angry about it.”
“Or would you prefer I call the police? If so, I don’t mind recording everything you’ve said and telling more people, including your sweetheart…”
Song Qingxue spoke the most vicious words in the most innocent tone. Even Ji Yaran was stunned, subconsciously looking at the person shielding her.
She had never seen Song Qingxue like this, radiating a terrifying hostility. She could even sense that Song Qingxue was genuinely angry.
For a moment, the atmosphere was at a deadlock, until a gentle voice broke the awkwardness.
“Yu Shi, are these two your friends?”
As soon as these words were spoken, Yu Shi’s expression changed slightly.
The woman’s voice was delicate, flowing into the heart like a warm breeze. It carried a hint of tenderness and youthfulness, sounding even more beautiful than the song of an oriole.
Ji Yaran looked past Yu Shi and saw Liu Jiayan slowly walking toward them. She stopped in front of the car, smiling as she looked at them.
She was a standard beauty who perfectly fit Eastern aesthetics. Her facial proportions were balanced, her features were refined, and her aura was elegant. It was no wonder Yu Shi had been obsessed with her for so many years.
Yu Shi clearly hadn’t expected Liu Jiayan to appear. Her expression was somewhat awkward. “Jiayan, didn’t I tell you to wait for me in the car? The sun is strong outside, it’s not good for your skin.”
When it came to Liu Jiayan, Yu Shi even handled the driving herself.
“It’s alright, I’m not that fragile,” Liu Jiayan smiled sweetly and looked at Ji Yaran again, asking the same question. “Yu Shi, is she your friend?”
Yu Shi glanced at Ji Yaran, her gaze flickering. She explained to Liu Jiayan, “She is… an artist I worked with before. We haven’t seen each other in a long time, so we were just catching up.”
“Is that so?” Liu Jiayan narrowed her eyes slightly, a hint of scrutiny hidden within them as she looked at Ji Yaran. “She really is a beauty.”
Ji Yaran knew what she was looking for.
The two of them did share some similarities in appearance. In the past, when the original owner was with Yu Shi, many people would compare her to Liu Jiayan, calling her a beautiful but useless counterfeit. Some even suspected she had intentionally undergone plastic surgery to look like Liu Jiayan just to move up in the world.
Ji Yaran, of course, wouldn’t say any of that. She responded with a smile, “Hello, Miss Liu.”
Liu Jiayan met her gaze. “Hello. May I ask your name?”
“Ji Yaran.”
“Since you are Yu Shi’s friend, then you are my friend too,” Liu Jiayan said, her words carrying a faint undertone of marking her territory. “Why don’t you two join us in our car?”
Yu Shi’s face shifted, but Ji Yaran took the initiative to refuse before she could. “No need, we’ve already called a car. It should be here soon.”
“That’s a pity then,” Liu Jiayan’s tone was intriguing. “Yu Shi and I have been apart for a long time. I wanted to get to know her friends, but unfortunately…”
“If it’s meant to be, we will meet again.”
“Then let’s meet next time,” Liu Jiayan nodded slightly and spoke to the person beside her. “Yu Shi, let’s go back.”
With Liu Jiayan present, Yu Shi finally stopped pestering Ji Yaran. She gave her one last unwilling look before turning to leave with Liu Jiayan.
The sky was gloomy, and large patches of dark clouds loomed over the city as if it could rain at any moment. Inside the car, with no windows open and no air conditioning, the air felt stifling.
Ji Yaran sat in the back seat, thinking for a long time before finally speaking to Song Qingxue.
“Qingxue, you were a bit impulsive with what you said today.”
She knew Song Qingxue meant well, but threatening someone with “getting hit by a car” was going too far. Aside from anything else, if someone had been nearby and the media exposed it, who would care if it was just a joke?
As a public figure, every word and action is constantly watched. Even the assistants or fans nearby must be cautious with their speech.
Song Qingxue, however, seemed indifferent. “Sister, I was just scaring her. Who told her to treat you like that?”
Her casual attitude made Ji Yaran frown deeply, her tone becoming stern. “Still, there was no need to say such harsh things.”
“She was mean to you, so I stood up for you. Sister, was I wrong?”
For some reason, Ji Yaran felt that Song Qingxue’s attitude today was very unusual.
In the past, Song Qingxue always seemed indifferent toward everyone. Even when Xiao Rongrong or Xue Yan picked fights, she could calmly and rationally help her think of a solution. This was the first time she had seen Song Qingxue being so aggressive.
And it was toward Yu Shi.
“What if those words were recorded and released? Just like you wanted to do to Yu Shi,” Ji Yaran said calmly. “Have you thought about the consequences that would bring to me?”
Song Qingxue froze and bit her lip. “I…”
She was speechless.
Deep down, she knew Ji Yaran was right.
Even she hadn’t expected that she would one day be impulsive enough to pick a fight with an irrelevant person.
She prided herself on being a calm person, someone who could respond to any provocation without showing a hint of emotion. Her years of experience had long taught her how to hide her thoughts and feelings, making her someone others couldn’t read.
Yet, when she saw Yu Shi repeatedly pestering Ji Yaran, a nameless fire had ignited in her heart.
It felt as though something she cherished was being snatched away, and it made her angry.
As this thought flashed through her mind, Song Qingxue’s heart suddenly tightened.
Something she cherished?
The atmosphere in the car became tense. Ji Yaran probably realized her tone might have hurt Song Qingxue and was about to soften her words when she heard Song Qingxue speak.
“Sister, I’m sorry.”
Her voice was a bit hoarse, as if she were suppressing some emotion. It made Ji Yaran feel a pang of guilt, wondering if she shouldn’t have scolded her.
“Sister, don’t be angry. I won’t do it again.”
“I’m not angry… Anyway, as long as you understand.”
Although the two didn’t argue, Song Qingxue’s mood was visibly low over the next few days.
Ji Yaran could clearly feel that Song Qingxue’s attitude toward her had become cautious. The seamless connection they once had was gone, though her work remained perfectly organized, leaving no room for complaint.
She actually didn’t like this.
If there’s an issue, talk it out. Once the conflict is resolved, things can go back to normal, and the past unhappiness can fade away. Shouldn’t friends be like that?
But Song Qingxue wasn’t like that.
During their time together, Ji Yaran gradually realized that Song Qingxue was someone with very few personal emotions, or at least she rarely showed her temper.
She was used to hiding everything in her heart. She would restrain herself when happy and restrain herself when angry. She never argued or lost her temper with anyone.
Sometimes, Ji Yaran felt that she had never truly understood Song Qingxue.
Song Qingxue was too good at pretending and hiding. The side she showed people was always only the side she wanted them to see.
She didn’t know how Song Qingxue had developed such a personality, but she felt that a person like that must be very unhappy.
She remembered reading a quote somewhere: “If someone insults you and you remember it for a year, then they have been insulting you for a whole year.”
Keeping unhappy things bottled up would, over time, become a thorn in the heart that couldn’t be removed. Accumulating suppressed emotions and avoiding confrontation only makes a person more sensitive and oppressed.
Personality is the hardest thing to change, and every personality has its reasons for forming. She didn’t want to force Song Qingxue to change, but she decided she needed to have a talk with her.
This was her way of handling problems, and Song Qingxue would have to face it with her, whether she liked it or not.
