Pretending Not to Love You [Entertainment Circle] - Chapter 4
Chapter 4
Zhao Zhixian slowly strolled towards the young man, hands in his pockets.
When Zuo Qiu saw someone approaching, he quickly handed the flyer to the man.
Zhao Zhixian took the flyer and looked at it carelessly. “Jin Cheng Computers? Oh, you sell computers?”
Zuo Qiu smiled and nodded. “Yes, and cell phones too. If you are interested, you can go directly into the store to have a look.” He pointed towards the storefront. “It’s less than 100 meters away.”
“Hmm… what’s the price for the latest Cherry model phone in your store?”
Zuo Qiu scratched his head. “Sir, I’m sorry, but I’m only working part-time handing out flyers, so I don’t know much about the products. If you want to know, I…” could take you into the store to consult.
“How much do you make a day?” Zhao Zhixian interrupted Zuo Qiu.
“Huh?” It took Zuo Qiu a moment to realize the man was asking about his daily wage, so he answered honestly, “100 yuan a day.”
Zhao Zhixian mused for a moment, then said, “I have a part-time job here too. It only takes half a day, and the price is 10 times, no, 30 times your current wage. Young man, are you interested?”
Hearing such a good offer, Zuo Qiu’s first thought was a pyramid scheme. He took a step back. “Sorry, I’m not interested.”
Zhao Zhixian understood his wariness. He pulled out his business card and said, “Young man, don’t misunderstand. I am Zhao Zhixian from Bailuo Entertainment Company. We are filming a commercial today and are short of a male lead. I think your look and temperament are very suitable for the role, and I hope you can take it.”
Zuo Qiu had, of course, heard of Bailuo Company. The company had launched countless movie stars and famous idols and was considered one of the two giants in the entertainment industry in City B, along with Lingqu Company.
But, just pulling out a business card you got from who knows where and claiming to be Zhao Zhixian—that sounds completely unreliable!
Zhao Zhixian understood Zuo Qiu’s meaning and felt a bit helpless. Countless people in the entertainment industry dreamed of getting his business card and establishing a connection with him, but to outsiders, their business cards were as worthless as their faces.
“Linzhi, come here for a moment.” Zhao Zhixian directly called Yuan Linzhi. Although Yuan Linzhi wasn’t a huge star, she had been appearing frequently recently. Having her come and explain things to this distrustful young man was the most suitable solution.
…
Xiao Bojun didn’t wake up until 10 AM. The first thing he did was habitually look for Zuo Qiu. After searching around and not finding him, he finally saw Zuo Qiu’s note on the dining table and remembered Zuo Qiu had mentioned this job yesterday.
After eating the breakfast Zuo Qiu left, Xiao Bojun went into his room to play games until he felt hungry again, which reminded him of Zuo Qiu.
“Hey, where are you handing out flyers?” Xiao Bojun wanted to go see Zuo Qiu, and they could grab dinner outside together.
“I’m not handing out flyers anymore. I’m at an entertainment company right now. I can’t talk, I’ll tell you all about it when I get home.” Just as he was about to hang up, Xiao Bojun heard Zuo Qiu’s voice again: “Hey, hey, hey, don’t pull my pants! Doo-doo-doo-doo…”
When Xiao Bojun heard that last sentence, he jumped up. He redialed the number while quickly pulling off the beach shorts he wore at home and putting on jeans, but the phone kept ringing unanswered.
Xiao Bojun grabbed his keys and rushed out the door to catch a taxi, but after hailing for a long time, no car stopped.
“Damn it!”
At this moment, he started blaming his parents again. Ever since he was 17, when he drove a friend’s car out and crashed directly into a utility pole, his parents had forbidden him from touching a car. How convenient it would be to have a private car right now!
…
Meanwhile, Zuo Qiu felt he had been tricked. Two hours ago, Yuan Linzhi came over and confirmed Zhao Zhixian’s identity. He was half-convinced and was dragged to the commercial set by the two of them, where he finally believed them. But after filming the commercial, when he tried to take his money and leave, Zhao Zhixian said there was still a procedure to follow and asked him to come to the company nearby.
But once they reached the company, Zhao Zhixian didn’t talk about payment. Instead, he asked Zuo Qiu to change clothes and take a photo shoot with another male artist.
After being forced to change clothes, Zuo Qiu refused to be ordered around anymore.
“Mr. Zhao, I have things to do. I’m leaving now.” Zuo Qiu felt things were increasingly deviating from the original plan. Now he just wanted to go home; he didn’t care about the money anymore.
“Zuo Qiu, don’t you want to get paid? You can take your money and leave after just one photo shoot with that young man.”
“I don’t want the money.” Zuo Qiu didn’t understand why they needed him to take photos with someone else for no reason. Due to Zhao Zhixian’s repeated backtracking, Zuo Qiu completely lost faith in him.
Zhao Zhixian’s face darkened. He had finally found someone with a good face and decent acting skills, but this person insisted on going against him. He sat down angrily, remaining silent. For a moment, the reception room was exceptionally quiet.
Zuo Qiu saw Zhao Zhixian’s expression and knew that this situation wouldn’t end easily. He had just tried to leave through the door, but the people outside refused to let him go, citing unfinished commercial procedures.
Zuo Qiu deeply regretted following them to film the commercial. If he hadn’t filmed the commercial, the subsequent chain of events wouldn’t have occurred, and he wouldn’t be trapped here. Zuo Qiu was feeling extremely restless.
Just then, Xiao Bojun’s call came in. Zuo Qiu walked aside and whispered for help: “Xiao Bojun, hurry and save me! I’m on the 25th floor of the Jinyin Building, 525 Renhe Road. They won’t let me leave. Please hurry and help me.”
In the deepest recesses of Zuo Qiu’s heart, the person he loved was also the person he trusted the most.
Xiao Bojun, who had just gotten into a taxi, immediately turned red-eyed upon hearing this. “Wait for me, I’ll be there soon! You just try to keep them calm for now. Don’t do anything until I arrive.”
Hanging up the phone, Xiao Bojun yelled at the driver: “Go to Renhe Road! Drive fast!”
The driver wanted to say he was already going as fast as possible, but he vaguely heard the customer’s phone call, knew the situation was urgent, and didn’t waste any more words. He immediately sped up.
Ten minutes later, Xiao Bojun got out of the taxi and sprinted towards the building. However, it was rush hour, and all the elevators were heading up. Xiao Bojun slammed the elevator button fiercely, turned, and ran into the stairwell.
When Xiao Bojun arrived at the 25th floor, his hair soaked with sweat, and saw the four gilded characters “Bailuo Entertainment,” his eyes narrowed, and he charged in aggressively.
“Sir, who are you looking for?” A security guard at the front desk immediately blocked his path.
“Get lost!” Xiao Bojun pushed the guard aside and rushed inside. He didn’t know which room Zuo Qiu was in, so he shouted loudly, “Zuo Qiu! Zuo Qiu! Where are you? Answer me if you hear me, Zuo Qiu, Zuo Qiu!”
The security guard saw this person looked like a troublemaker and quickly reported the situation on his walkie-talkie while following Xiao Bojun.
Zuo Qiu heard Xiao Bojun’s voice and immediately pushed away the person who was talking to him, shouting back, “I’m here! I’m here!”
As he ran towards the door, he was intercepted by a person nearby.
“Don’t you f**king touch him!” Xiao Bojun walked in and saw someone trying to rough up Zuo Qiu. He immediately sent a flying kick, knocking the person holding Zuo Qiu to the ground. The man fell down, covering his stomach and groaning.
The moment Zuo Qiu saw Xiao Bojun arrive, he instantly gained a pillar of strength. He immediately ran behind Xiao Bojun to hide. Looking at the tall figure in front of him, Zuo Qiu’s heart gradually settled down.
In a critical moment, strength speaks for itself. Zuo Qiu, with a combat value of zero, could only rely on Xiao Bojun.
Xiao Bojun gave the people in the room a warning look, then turned and scrutinized Zuo Qiu from head to toe. Thankfully, he looked unharmed.
“Tsk, tsk, look who decided to show up. What a rare visitor!” At this moment, a young man’s teasing voice came from the doorway.
Xiao Bojun lifted his eyelids, glanced at the newcomer, and his expression remained completely unchanged.
