Pretending Not to Love You [Entertainment Circle] - Chapter 33
Chapter 33
The next moment, Xiao Baijun walked over, bent down, and grabbed A Xing by its two ears. A Xing cried out in pain.
Zuo Qiu watched Xiao Baijun walk towards the door, then turned back to Yin Qiushui, who looked embarrassed. “A Xing isn’t usually like this. It probably just likes you too much.”
“It’s nothing, it’s normal for male Poodles,” Zuo Qiu said, showing understanding.
Yin Qiushui: “But it’s been neutered.”
Cough, Zuo Qiu didn’t know what to say. It was probably just instinct; after all, “humping the sky, the earth, and the air” wasn’t just a casual saying.
“Come on, come on, let’s forget about A Xing. Mom, Zuo Qiu, let’s go eat.” He Can intervened to smooth things over.
By this time, Xiao Baijun had walked back to Zuo Qiu. Zuo Qiu noticed a strong scent of hand sanitizer on him. Had he treated A Xing like a toxic germ?
…
At dinner, Xiao Baijun’s father, Xiao Zhan, came downstairs. Zuo Qiu stood up and greeted Xiao Zhan, who simply acknowledged him with a light “Mmm” and didn’t say much else.
Excluding Xiao Bailin, who was out for business, the Xiao family and Zuo Qiu gathered around the dining table to eat.
Zuo Qiu liked the atmosphere of the Xiao family. The grandmother was kind-hearted, the father, though solemn, actively served food to the grandmother and mother, and the mother, while complaining that the chicken wings served by the father were too greasy, ate them without hesitation. Xiao Baijun didn’t talk much at home, clearly inheriting this from his father, but he showed a childish side in front of his family.
“Grandma, can’t you get a cat instead? That horny dog should have been gotten rid of ages ago.”
Xiao Baijun naturally disliked small animals and was not popular with them, especially dogs. Normally, A Xing would avoid him, and as long as Xiao Baijun was home, it wouldn’t easily leave its nest. Today, Zuo Qiu’s charm must have been too great, making it take a risk.
Yin Qiushui was no pushover. “I can get rid of it. If you give me a great-grandchild, I’ll send it away without a second thought.”
Xiao Baijun subtly glanced at Zuo Qiu. Zuo Qiu didn’t have that function, so how could he have a child? “Brother is already 30. Grandma, hurry up and make him have one.”
Hearing this, Yin Qiushui sighed. “Your brother is so old, and he hasn’t even dated a girlfriend. Your mother and I suspect he likes men.”
Even the younger grandson, in his early twenties, had dated two people, but they hadn’t even seen a shadow of their older grandson’s girlfriend.
As soon as the words fell, Zuo Qiu choked on his rice. “Cough cough cough cough…”
“Qiuqiu, don’t mind me, I’m just joking.” Yin Qiushui thought Zuo Qiu was scared and quickly explained.
“It’s fine, it’s fine. I was just eating too quickly.”
Xiao Baijun glanced at Zuo Qiu, knowing he must be feeling guilty. He handed him a glass of water, patted his back, and turned to his grandmother: “Brother is doing great. I even saw him holding a woman’s waist the other day. He’s probably dating.”
“Really?” Yin Qiushui and He Can were both surprised. Such a big thing, and they hadn’t heard anything!
Xiao Baijun was an expert at diverting trouble. Dragging his older brother into the water to shift everyone’s attention was completely effortless for him.
“Really. If you don’t believe me, ask him when he comes back tonight.” Xiao Baijun lied without blinking an eye. Anyway, they would be leaving soon, and they would leave B City tomorrow. Xiao Bailin could only try to settle the score two months later.
Zuo Qiu finally caught his breath. At this point, he didn’t dare say anything more, afraid everyone would ask him embarrassing questions like what kind of girl he liked. He simply lowered his head and focused on eating his rice, trying to minimize his presence.
…
At 9 o’clock, the two prepared to leave. Yin Qiushui and He Can prepared a pile of edible, usable, useful, and useless things and loaded them into the car.
Before leaving, He Can instructed: “If you need anything when you get there, call home, and I’ll mail it to you.”
Xiao Baijun didn’t bother to say that the place wasn’t the countryside and online shopping was easy. He knew his mother just missed him, so he nodded and said he would.
Yin Qiushui waved goodbye to the two: “I’ll come visit you when it’s not so hot.”
“Okay.”
The same car that picked them up drove them home. The driver helped carry the large bags upstairs before leaving. Zuo Qiu spent about fifteen minutes organizing most of the things Yin Qiushui and He Can had packed for them.
“What is this for? Is it for your future girlfriend?” Zuo Qiu took out a pair of matching cups from the few remaining boxes that hadn’t been put away and asked Xiao Baijun.
Xiao Baijun was sitting on the sofa scrolling on his phone. He glanced at the cups in Zuo Qiu’s hand. One cup was black and the other was white, like a couple’s set. Xiao Baijun understood immediately. It was likely his grandmother saw the cups in a mall, thought they were interesting, bought them, decided they weren’t practical, and then passed them to him to gift one to a potential girlfriend.
“My girlfriend is probably in some remote corner somewhere,” Xiao Baijun looked at Zuo Qiu, who was still examining the cups. “These cups will just collect dust sitting around. If you like them, take them and use them.”
Zuo Qiu genuinely liked the cups. He hesitated for a moment and then took the white one.
After Zuo Qiu went into the bedroom, Xiao Baijun picked up the remaining black cup and played with it. The body of the cup was ceramic, and the handle and lid looked like wood—very unique. When he flipped the cup to the bottom and read the two words printed there, he paused for a moment, then smiled.
Clearly printed in a script font on the bottom of the cup were the two word.
