Pregnant With the Villain Boss’ Baby - Chapter 20
“Hey, hey! Youying! What are you doing?!”
On the street, a fiery red fox struggled in the arms of a tall woman, drawing plenty of curious stares. However, most people quickly looked away. Since the fox had called out the woman’s name, it clearly wasn’t a dangerous situation—likely just a lover’s quarrel. Best to keep our distance.
Yun Mu was far too preoccupied to notice the passersby. She was focused on the fact that Youying seemed to have lost her mind. Not only was she moving further away from the teleportation array, but she had hauled her right onto the main street. What was she planning?
Besides, having someone’s arm clamped around her waist like a sack of potatoes didn’t exactly hurt, but it left her lower body completely immobilized. She’s really treating me like an animal!
“Hey, talk to me! Where are you taking me?” Yun Mu’s front paws drummed against Youying’s waist until they were sore, but it was useless. The woman simply ignored her.
After a few more twists and turns, they arrived in front of a shop with a massive line. Yun Mu looked up at the four-story building spanning at least two hundred square feet. The display windows were filled with bright glass cases showcasing exquisitely decorated platters. Every small plate held a different cake or dessert, with floating points of light indicating the prices.
Yun Mu knew this place well. She’d been here before. This was Xiangta, one of the most famous shops in the Cloud World—the very place Feng Cen had just gifted her a set from.
“Why are we her— Whoa!” Before Yun Mu could finish, Youying strode forward, bypassing the entire queue and walking straight into the shop.
“Miss, you must wait in line to make a purchase,” a clerk immediately stepped forward to block their path.
“I have a private suite,” Youying finally spoke, her voice low and muffled behind her mask.
“A suite?” The clerk paused, studying Youying. Although her face was hidden, the aura she projected was definitely that of someone high-born.
“Is there a problem?” Seeing the clerk staring blankly, a flash of displeasure crossed Youying’s eyes. Being stopped meant that all the eyes in the lobby were now on them, and not all of those gazes were friendly.
“Ah, my apologies. Let me verify your data.” The clerk hurried over with a device. Youying placed her thumb on the scanner.
“Identity confirmed. Distinguished guest of Suite One,” the machine chirped.
“S-Suite One?!” the clerk gasped.
No one knew who the owner of Xiangta was, but their private suites were notoriously difficult to book. There were only ten, and the first one was the most exclusive—rumored to be reserved only for the most powerful and wealthy.
“This way, please.” The clerk tucked the device away, her attitude shifting to one of extreme deference as she led them to the third floor. Unlike the noisy lobby, it was perfectly silent up here.
“This is far enough,” Youying said flatly.
“Of course! Suite One is at the very end. If you need anything, just use the internal comms; we will serve you immediately.” The clerk looked a bit disappointed but knew better than to linger around a guest of that caliber.
Youying strode toward the end of the hall, passing several doors marked with “In Use” signs.
She pushed open the door to reveal a lavishly decorated room. Thick carpets lined the floor, and in the center sat a red U-shaped sofa. A vase of fresh roses sat on the table, and the room was bathed in a warm, amber light that created a cozy, relaxed atmosphere.
The arm around Yun Mu’s waist finally loosened, and she landed gracefully on the floor.
“So? Why are we here?” Yun Mu swished her fluffy tail and hopped onto the sofa.
“Well… you seemed to be in a bad mood. I thought… maybe eating sweets would help,” Youying said, her hand reaching up to touch her mask. Her voice was hesitant and slightly raspy, as if she were nervous.
Yun Mu arched an eyebrow. Setting aside whether she was touched or not, she suspected Youying’s face behind that mask was currently a mess of conflict. It made her think of a big dog trying its hardest to please its owner. Is she blushing under there?
“Why are you staring at me like that?” Youying’s eyes shifted, unable to meet Yun Mu’s direct gaze.
“Are you shy?” Yun Mu deactivated her bracelet, reverting to her human form. She picked up a rose from the table, sniffed it, and waved it toward Youying, her beautiful phoenix eyes full of mischief.
The seductive pose made Youying swallow hard. She looked away and whispered, “N-no…”
“Is that so?” Yun Mu tapped the table, her gaze roaming over Youying until the woman’s body went completely stiff.
Just as Youying thought she was about to say something else, Yun Mu leaned down and picked up the menu from the side table. “Mmm… what should I eat?”
Youying (feeling like her heart was being toyed with): ……
“They have an unlimited supply of every dessert? Even the premium sets?” Yun Mu looked at the menu in surprise. She didn’t know the perks of the suites; she usually just had her staff buy things for takeout. Looking at the clerk’s reaction earlier, this “Suite One” was clearly something special.
“Youying, how much did this room cost?” Yun Mu asked. The woman had clearly come here specifically for her; she couldn’t let Youying foot the entire bill.
“A… friend… treated me,” Youying said slowly after a pause.
Treated you? Are you kidding me? Who just ‘gives’ away a suite like this? Yun Mu rolled her eyes and did a quick search on the local web.
Ten minutes later, she gasped at the result. “Ten thousand credits just for the room?! Wealthy people are insane. I’ll never understand their world.”
And ten thousand was just for the standard suites—there wasn’t even a price listed for Suite One.
She opened her contact list and realized she didn’t have Youying’s details. She waved the woman over. “Give me your contact info.”
“Huh? Oh! Okay!” Youying’s eyes lit up. She hurried to Yun Mu’s side.
“There.”
Yun Mu didn’t notice Youying’s excitement. She tapped a few icons on her virtual screen.
Ding.
Hearing her own device chime, Youying checked her wrist. A notification for a ten-thousand-credit transfer stared back at her.
“I’m paying you back. No need to waste your money; I can afford my own cake.” Yun Mu shook the menu and began selecting items, oblivious to the fact that Youying was staring at the transaction with a look of utter defeat. The Alpha wanted to hit the ‘refund’ button so badly, but finally just sat down across from her, dejected.
“Youying, since you don’t like sweets, do you want to try something savory?” Yun Mu asked, finally looking up.
“Sure. Whatever makes you happy.”
What does ‘whatever makes you happy’ mean? Yun Mu glanced at her, catching a strange look in those eyes that made her skin prickle. She quickly looked down, her gaze landing on a specific item on the menu. A flash of dark amusement crossed her eyes.
Twenty minutes later:
“Your orders are all here. I’ll take my leave; please call if you need anything,” the clerk said with a bow before departing.
“Haaa… eating out is such a hassle,” Yun Mu said, tossing her hair.
“Sorry. I didn’t think it through,” Youying said apologetically. She’d known to book a private room for a star, but she’d forgotten that servers would still be coming in and out.
“It’s fine. Here, try what I ordered for you.” Yun Mu gave a brilliant smile. From the spread of pastries, she picked one out and placed it in front of Youying.
It was a pale green pastry, shaped like an oval fruit. It looked quite appetizing, drizzled in maple syrup and surrounded by garnishes.
“This is…” Youying picked up the small spoon, hesitating. Her sharp Alpha sense of smell detected something that wasn’t exactly “sweet.” In fact, it smelled… bitter.
“It’s a Tartberry Bomb Cake,” Yun Mu chirped.
Tartberry? Youying’s eyes widened. The defining characteristic of tart berries was their extreme, soul-crushing bitterness. They were highly nutritious and cheap, but most sane people avoided them at all costs. And now, a cake made of them was sitting right in front of her.
Alphas might hate sweets, but that didn’t mean they enjoyed eating concentrated bitterness!
“What’s wrong? Eat up! I ordered it specifically for you,” Yun Mu laughed. She looked exactly like a mischievous little fox, her eyes dancing with wicked delight.
“Whew…” Youying took a deep breath. She sliced into the soft cake with her spoon.
The pale green exterior gave way easily, and a dark green, viscous liquid oozed out, releasing a pungent, bitter aroma into the air.
The smell alone was enough to turn most people away, but Yun Mu watched as Youying took a piece, dipped it in the liquid, and put it in her mouth without a second of hesitation. It was as if she would do anything—no matter how unpleasant—simply because Yun Mu asked her to.
The realization made Yun Mu’s eyes flicker. Her fingers tapped rhythmically against the table.
