Pregnant with the Alpha Best Actress's Child - Chapter 25
Soon, the staff finished adjusting the camera positions, and filming resumed.
Sang Zhijiu’s face was flushed, and her heart rate had not returned to normal; her nervousness was visible to the naked eye. However, as it happened, this state perfectly matched Chen Yue’s embarrassment after being caught “stealing a fragrance.”
Fan Wu, playing Mu Yining, touched the corner of her mouth and looked at Sang Zhijiu: “What are you doing?”
Sang Zhijiu took a step back with a red face: “No, nothing.”
It was obvious that her words lacked any credibility. But at this moment, no words were needed between the two.
Fan Wu leaned forward, pressing close to her side and gently encircling her waist. The moment their eyes met, their breathing gradually grew heavy.
Sang Zhijiu was a bit hazy about what happened next. Unlike before, when she was supposed to steal a kiss from Fan Wu, this scene was led by Fan Wu. She only needed to cooperate and follow Fan Wu’s rhythm.
Yet, amidst her blurred consciousness, her other senses were exceptionally sharp. The other party’s presence was so overwhelming that Sang Zhijiu could even clearly trace how Fan Wu was conquering territory within her mouth.
After an unknown amount of time, a staff member shouted “Cut!”
The two separated slightly, but Fan Wu did not fully let go of Sang Zhijiu. She still held her, providing enough support, and even her inquiry sounded incredibly gentle: “How is it? Can you stand steady?”
Sang Zhijiu kept her head down, not daring to look at her at all: “I, I can.”
She struggled to calm her breathing and heart rate, not wanting to leak any sign of abnormality.
Fan Wu let out a soft chuckle. She brushed her chin against Sang Zhijiu’s hair and said warmly: “Don’t force yourself.”
Sang Zhijiu pressed against her chest but didn’t actually use any strength, her voice soft as she requested: “You, let me go.”
Fan Wu pursed her lips, feeling somewhat reluctant. In fact, she could no longer distinguish whether she had not yet emerged from the emotions of the scene or if, from her own heart, she simply didn’t want to let go of the excessively well-behaved little one.
Perhaps it was both?
After a brief internal struggle, she finally compromised and released Sang Zhijiu.
The two went behind the camera where the assistant director was replaying the footage. Unlike the previous lighthearted atmosphere when everyone was laughing at the poor “stolen kiss” takes, several crew members actually blushed while watching the playback of the kiss.
The assistant director looked at Fan Wu and said: “The effect is excellent. I don’t think there are any issues.”
Before Fan Wu could speak, Sang Zhijiu suddenly breathed a sigh of relief. She confirmed: “Did we get it in one take?”
Seeing that Fan Wu had no objections, the assistant director nodded: “Yes, one take! Zhijiu, you performed very well just now. Keep that feeling. Later, we’ll reshoot the stolen kiss scene and aim to get that in one take too!”
Sang Zhijiu let out a long breath and nodded: “Okay!”
Watching her reaction, Fan Wu instantly understood the little one’s small thoughts. She looked at the screen and nodded: “Mhm, not bad. This take works.” But then she added: “Let’s film another set from a different angle.”
The assistant director immediately understood Fan Wu’s intent: “Right, right. I’ll have someone adjust the camera positions.”
Upon hearing this, the heat that had just subsided in Sang Zhijiu surged up again. But she knew this was a standard arrangement, so she didn’t say anything and simply followed Fan Wu back to their positions in silence.
While observing her expression, Fan Wu helped tidy the stray hairs messed up by the kiss and asked: “Do you hate this scene?”
Sang Zhijiu was taken aback, then wrinkled her nose: “It’s for work. There’s nothing to hate or not hate.”
Fan Wu chuckled: “Next time you say something like that, try to act a bit more sincere.”
Sang Zhijiu glared at her. After a moment, she suddenly asked: “Are you… very experienced with these things?”
Fan Wu didn’t catch her meaning at first: “Hmm?”
Sang Zhijiu lowered her head slightly: “You’ve filmed many kissing scenes, right?”
Fan Wu paused. This wasn’t something she could hide, nor was there a need to, so she nodded: “It’s for work.”
Sang Zhijiu frowned and turned her head away: “No wonder you’re so skilled.”
Fan Wu felt a bit wronged. She pinched Sang Zhijiu’s chin: “My little ancestor, you really know how to find reasons to lose your temper. Haven’t you acted in them before?”
Sang Zhijiu gritted her teeth: “Of course not.”
Hearing this, Fan Wu was genuinely stunned. She recalled Sang Zhijiu’s past works and replied: “I remember you had intimate scenes in ‘Prosperity’ and ‘Moonlight on the Branches.’ How about it? Do you need me to help you recall them bit by bit?”
Sang Zhijiu was surprised: “You’ve watched them all? Didn’t you say on a show before that my acting was terrible and my work was low quality?”
Fan Wu replied righteously: “It’s precisely because I watched them all seriously that I knew your acting wasn’t good back then.”
Sang Zhijiu dazed off for a moment, and when she snapped out of it, she felt a bit bashful. But she quickly defended herself: “Some used camera angles, and some used body doubles. I’ve never actually tried a real kissing scene.”
Fan Wu felt her breath stop for a second. She cupped Sang Zhijiu’s face and confirmed again: “So, today… was your first kiss?”
With her cheeks held, Sang Zhijiu could only stare: “Not my first kiss, my first kiss scene.” She seemed a bit angry as she asked a question that confused Fan Wu: “Whether it’s my first kiss or not, don’t you have a clue in your heart?”
Her first kiss… had been stolen by this beast countless times during that accidental night long ago.
Fan Wu was puzzled but assumed she meant her first kiss was already gone. She smiled helplessly and said: “First kiss scene, mhm, it’s my honor.”
Since they had been chatting for so long, the assistant director had been waiting. He found an opening and interjected: “Director Fan, Zhijiu, are you ready? The cameras are set. If there’s no problem, let’s begin.”
This interrupted Sang Zhijiu’s unspoken words. She looked toward the assistant director and nodded lightly.
The assistant director signaled the staff to start filming. As soon as Sang Zhijiu looked up, her lips were captured by Fan Wu again. Amidst the lingering kiss, she recalled many details of that night.
Mhm, thinking about it now, setting aside the accidental nature of the event, being with Fan Wu was actually quite comfortable.
With various “buffs” added, the scene passed quickly. Even the reshot stolen kiss scene achieved excellent results amidst Sang Zhijiu’s blushing and racing heart.
After confirming everything was fine, Fan Wu rubbed her hair. “That’s it for today’s filming. Go back to the hotel and rest first.”
Sang Zhijiu asked: “What about you?”
The light in the little one’s eyes was so pure it made Fan Wu’s heart itch. Her inner self was divided into two factions: a demon greedily watching Sang Zhijiu, clamoring to get closer, and an angel questioning her conscience, heart-wrenchingly advising her not to have wicked thoughts about the little one.
Suppressing her throbbing heart, Fan Wu said: “Go back and wait for me first. Once I handle things here, I’ll go back and help you practice tomorrow’s scenes.”
Only then was Sang Zhijiu satisfied, turning to leave with a smile. Watching her back, Fan Wu let out a soft sigh, trying to shift her focus to the work at hand. But at this moment, she didn’t know that a big trouble was about to descend upon her.
On the way back to the hotel, Sang Zhijiu unexpectedly saw Fan Yu and Jiang Mengzhi talking together. Jiang Mengzhi’s gaze toward Fan Yu was very doting, typical of an elder caring for a junior, which proved their relationship was very close. Jiang Mengzhi was Fan Wu’s manager, and having worked together for so long, it was natural for her to treat Fan Yu as a junior.
But seeing the two of them, Sang Zhijiu inevitably recalled that book she saw at Fan Wu’s home a few days ago. A bold guess suddenly formed in her heart! Despite knowing the timing wasn’t right, Sang Zhijiu couldn’t hold back. She waited patiently for them to separate, then quickened her pace to catch up with Jiang Mengzhi.
Jiang Mengzhi was surprised to be stopped, but seeing it was her, she smiled. “Zhijiu, it’s you? Why are you running so fast?”
Sang Zhijiu hesitated. “Sister Mengzhi, are you busy? I have something I want to ask you.”
Jiang Mengzhi stopped: “I’m fine, ask whatever you need.”
Sang Zhijiu took out her phone, found a contact card, and showed it to Jiang Mengzhi. “It’s like this. Earlier, the company gave me a number, saying I could contact Fan Wu directly. I wasn’t sure if it was real, so I wanted to ask you to check if the number is fake.”
Jiang Mengzhi was a bit surprised: “The company gave it to you? Who in the company?” Despite the question, she leaned in to identify the number on the screen.
The next second, she blurted out: “This is indeed Fan Wu’s private number. Her private number is easy to recognize; it’s the string of nines at the end.”
Jiang Mengzhi was so decisive because she had no guard against Sang Zhijiu. In her view, if not for the previous friction, given their status in the company, they should have exchanged private contact info long ago.
She didn’t know that upon hearing this, a storm erupted in Sang Zhijiu’s heart.
With a stiff expression, Sang Zhijiu forced a polite smile: “I, I see. Thank you, Sister Mengzhi.”
Only then did Jiang Mengzhi notice something was slightly off: “You’re welcome.” She asked tentatively: “Is something wrong? Who exactly gave you this number? Fan Wu’s private number shouldn’t be leaked, right?”
Sang Zhijiu shook her head: “It won’t be, don’t worry.” She brushed it off and said: “I have some things to do, so I’ll leave first. I’ll treat you to a meal when I’m free.”
After speaking, she buried her head and rushed directly toward the hotel. The information confirmed this time was far too big; she needed to find a place to calm down alone.
Jiang Mengzhi watched her receding back, her brow furrowing in confusion. Thinking it over to no avail, she took out her phone, edited the situation into a simple text, and sent it to Fan Wu. A private number being known by Sang Zhijiu shouldn’t cause any major issues, right? Even if there was a problem, given their current relationship, it shouldn’t lead to any irreconcilable conflict. After comforting herself, Jiang Mengzhi finally breathed a sigh of relief.
On Fan Wu’s side.
After Sang Zhijiu left, she summarized today’s filming results with the two assistant directors as usual and briefly reviewed tomorrow’s schedule.
One of the assistant directors who followed the kissing scene said with a laugh: “The arrangements are all made in advance, so don’t worry. I think we should consider Sang Zhijiu’s state. You’ve been filming passionate love scenes lately with such good feelings, but you’re about to reach the final breakup phase; the emotions need to shift instantly. I’m not worried about you, but for Sang Zhijiu, will she be reluctant to get angry at you?”
Fan Wu heard the teasing in his words. Instead of being annoyed, she played along with a smile. Suddenly, her phone vibrated. She took it out and saw a new message from Jiang Mengzhi. Jiang Mengzhi hadn’t been following her closely during filming lately, so for her to send a message now, could it be something important?
With this question, Fan Wu opened the message. Two seconds later, her face turned slightly pale.
The two assistant directors were still discussing their states. “With Fan Wu leading, you’re worrying unnecessarily.” “Hey, you weren’t in that lounge. You have no idea how clingy they were in the behind-the-scenes footage. Hot kisses today and a fight tomorrow; anyone would find that hard to take.”
“…”
Fan Wu turned her head and glanced at them. “…I guess that won’t be a problem.”
The assistant director was confused: “Huh?”
Fan Wu held her phone, her suffering internal and unvoiceable. “Mhm… on the little one’s side, the anger has likely already started brewing.”
After muttering to herself, she bid the two assistant directors farewell and walked toward the hotel, resigned to her fate.
