Perfect Divorce [Entertainment Circle] - Chapter 23
On this day, the guests of “Idol Romance Season” had their first dinner where they completely abandoned their public image. While Ye Huai was plating the dishes, Yuan Xingzhou had already set a portion aside. While the others were eating at the dining table, Yuan Xingzhou packed the food into Lock&Lock containers and delivered them to the staff members.
By the time he returned, the others were already devouring the food so ravenously that they looked entirely unrefined.
Yuan Xingzhou was startled and quickly looked toward the cameras. Fortunately, when he had called everyone to set the table, the cameramen had already taken close-up shots of each dish.
“Impressive,” the lead cameraman said with a smile. “I really couldn’t tell you had this skill up your sleeve.”
“I didn’t make it,” Yuan Xingzhou explained, his face flushing slightly. “Ye Huai made it.”
The guests clearly hadn’t expected this feast to be the work of Ye Huai either.
“Ye Huai?” Li Yi, who was in the middle of eating, suddenly looked up with eyes wide in shock. “Which one? This one? The Squirrel-Shaped Mandarin Fish? The Longjing Shrimp with Onsen Egg?”
Yuan Xingzhou smiled and said, “All of them.”
Everyone let out a collective “Wow,” completely stunned by the revelation.
Yuan Xingzhou smiled and walked over to sit down next to Ye Huai. However, although there was plenty of food, the others had been scraping by for a week and were now at full combat strength. In less than twenty minutes, the plates were licked clean…
Holding his chopsticks, Yuan Xingzhou felt as though he had only just started when the dinner was being frantically snatched away by the others. He could no longer afford to be reserved; he quickly used his chopsticks to spear a croissant and grabbed a piece of braised pork belly.
“Not full yet?” Ye Huai turned his head and leaned in to ask. “Didn’t you already eat in the kitchen?”
Yuan Xingzhou refused to admit to “snatching food” and argued stubbornly, “I was just tasting it for seasoning… it wasn’t stealing a snack. Don’t describe me like that.”
Ye Huai replied, “Fine.”
Yuan Xingzhou breathed a sigh of relief and took a large bite, narrowing his eyes in happiness. Then, he heard Ye Huai say, “Your abs are gone.”
Yuan Xingzhou: “…”
Ye Huai had been rather quiet since coming out of the kitchen. When others tried to strike up a conversation, he acted indifferent, offering nothing more than a couple of “mms” as a response.
Yuan Xingzhou assumed he was just like this in front of others—likely accustomed to being cold and aloof—and thought to himself that this was actually for the best; the less he spoke, the less likely they were to blow their cover.
Who knew that in the blink of an eye, this man’s mischievous streak would start again?
“I’m not falling for your tricks,” Yuan Xingzhou said, feeling utterly speechless as he shot him a glance. “Anyway, my filming is finished, so I don’t usually need them.”
Ye Huai looked at him with feigned confusion. “How do you know you won’t need them?”
Yuan Xingzhou replied, “What do you think? I don’t use shirtless photos of my abs for my business promotions.”
After saying this, he recalled what Ye Huai had said to him before. He deliberately mimicked the tone Ye Huai had used that day and said, “Besides, what’s the use of keeping abs? At most, you can only show them off at home, and you don’t even care about them.”
“No,” Ye Huai countered. “Who said that?”
Yuan Xingzhou: “?”
Yuan Xingzhou hadn’t expected him to change his tune so suddenly. He turned his face toward him, staring in utter astonishment.
Sure enough, Ye Huai had a mischievous smirk on his face. “Let me see. Stop eating.”
Yuan Xingzhou wasn’t experienced enough to handle this; he blushed furiously at the teasing, nearly biting his own tongue.
Fortunately, the others were busy clearing the plates and hadn’t heard this conversation. When Li Yi walked over, she asked Yuan Xingzhou in confusion, “Is the food too spicy for you? Should I pour you some ice water?”
“No need,” Yuan Xingzhou waved his hand hurriedly. Afterward, he treated the croissant as if it were Ye Huai, taking two or three large bites and devouring it fiercely.
Ye Huai childishly suppressed a laugh. When the others approached, his expression shifted in a split second, returning to his previous cold and aloof demeanor.
