After My Flash Marriage with the Movie Queen - Chapter 39
After finishing two exams that morning, Shi Nanbei didn’t have to sit for another one until next Tuesday. So, as soon as the two newlyweds exchanged a knowing glance, they got into the car and drove back to Longquan.
On the way, Shi Nanbei kept stealing glances at Zhao Xunyin, her eyes burning with a teasing sort of heat. Zhao Xunyin, well into her thirties, should’ve been able to stay composed in situations like this—but that pure, delicate face of Shi
Nanbei’s and the way her gaze smoldered just enough to set fire to one’s sanity made it impossible to remain calm. After being stared at for a while, Zhao Xunyin’s cheeks flushed slightly.
“What are you looking at me for?” she asked.
Shi Nanbei tilted her head, smiling from the passenger seat.
“Because you’re beautiful.”
That answer made Zhao Xunyin’s lips curve in satisfaction. For a moment she seemed to think of something, then leaned in a little, lowering her voice.
“Don’t worry,” she murmured. “We’ll be home soon.”
“?” Shi Nanbei blinked, clearly not following. Her face was the very picture of confusion—so adorably lost that Zhao Xunyin couldn’t help finding it endearing.
Unable to resist teasing, Zhao Xunyin added, “Haven’t seen me for a while—missing me already?”
“What would I be missing you for?”
Zhao Xunyin gave her a look that needed no words. The moment Shi Nanbei caught the hint, her mind instantly turned colorful, and she stammered, unable to form a proper reply.
The car sped along, and the atmosphere inside grew increasingly charged. By the time they got home, both were practically tripping over each other at the door, and the moment they crossed the threshold, their lips met eagerly.
Before long, things naturally progressed toward the bedroom.
In between kisses, Shi Nanbei suddenly asked, half breathless, “So, who’s driving this time?”
Without a moment’s hesitation, Zhao Xunyin said, “You are. You’re on top this time.”
Shi Nanbei froze, looking utterly pitiful.
“Sweetheart, it’s not that I don’t want to drive,” she protested. “It’s just, I literally just got my license. Don’t you think it’s a little risky to have me on the road already?”
Zhao Xunyin had seen all kinds of people in her life, both on-screen and off. And right now, it was obvious Shi Nanbei just didn’t want to take the lead. The girl might look innocent, but she clearly liked being spoiled.
But Zhao Xunyin, at thirty-four—firmly in her prime—wasn’t about to let her off the hook so easily. Especially not after being called a T that morning. If Shi Nanbei thought she was a “steel T,” then Zhao Xunyin was going to prove she was most definitely a P—and a very capable one at that.
Smiling indulgently, she brushed a hand over Shi Nanbei’s smooth cheek and said in a syrupy tone,
“It’s fine, darling. As a married woman, one must be prepared for a little sacrifice. Training your wife to drive is part of the job, you know.”
Shi Nanbei: “……”
Shi Nanbei’s expression went through several phases—shock, despair, resignation—before she finally asked, almost helplessly,
“But, right now? You’re sure this is the time? My clothes are half off, and you still want me to drive?”
Zhao Xunyin’s lips quirked in amusement. “Don’t worry. We’ve got all the time in the world.”
And since Zhao Xunyin said so, Shi Nanbei could only brace herself and take the metaphorical wheel. Unfortunately, as a brand-new driver, her control was less than ideal.
A few “rough maneuvers” later, Zhao Xunyin winced, brows knitting from the discomfort. Shi Nanbei, nervous and flustered, immediately stopped and asked,
“Are you okay? Does it hurt? See? I told you I shouldn’t be the driver! You’re the one who insisted—look what happened!”
Zhao Xunyin found her chatter both endearing and exasperating. Honestly, who stops midway to conduct a self-critique? She sat up, hooked an arm around Shi Nanbei’s neck, and silenced her with another kiss.
Once things heated up again, Shi Nanbei—bolstered by confidence and a few too many CEO romance novels—started to get into the rhythm of it. Being “in charge” wasn’t such a bad feeling after all. Especially when the famously aloof and elegant film queen beneath her looked up at her through hazy eyes. That sense of triumph was better than clearing any game level she’d ever played.
To be fair, Zhao Xunyin was in rare form that day. Even with Shi Nanbei’s clumsy inexperience, she somehow managed to make it work, drawing genuine pleasure out of the moment. By the end, she even cupped Shi Nanbei’s face and planted a few satisfied kisses on her.
But before she could say anything, Shi Nanbei, having completed her “shift,” flopped face-down onto the bed and refused to move.
Zhao Xunyin: “What’s that supposed to mean?”
Shi Nanbei had always loved being the passenger. Sprawled lazily on the bed, she looked unintentionally seductive, one leg hooking around Zhao Xunyin’s waist as if to pull her close. Zhao Xunyin swatted her lightly on the backside.
“Why is it that you always prefer lying down?”
Shi Nanbei’s face turned rosy, but she still replied with shameless honesty,
“What’s wrong with lying down? I like it when my jiejie’s on top.”
That single “jiejie” made Zhao Xunyin blush all over again. But since it was her own wife saying it, she could hardly refuse. With a soft sigh, she climbed back “behind the wheel.”
And to be fair, Shi Nanbei wasn’t entirely wrong to call her a T. Compared to her young wife—who was, as people in certain circles would say, a “pillow princess”—Zhao Xunyin definitely fit the driver’s seat better. She’d always thought of herself as versatile, not fixed in any role, but facing this particular “passenger,” she could only play the part of a solid number one.
As things intensified again, Zhao Xunyin—usually the epitome of poise—couldn’t help murmuring a few provocative words. Shi Nanbei, ever the literal one, actually paused to think when asked, “Don’t you think I’m being a little indecent?”
After a beat, she answered seriously,
“Mm, just moderately indecent, I guess?”
“What?”
Zhao Xunyin nearly burst out laughing, shoulders shaking so hard she lost control of her “steering.” Shi Nanbei, mortified, kicked her lightly twice.
“What are you laughing at?”
“Nothing, nothing,” Zhao Xunyin said quickly, trying to calm her down.
Truly, she’d lucked out. To think that at thirty-four, she’d managed to marry such an adorable little troublemaker—one who could make her laugh even in the middle of that—what a blessing.
By the time they finally finished their “ride,” both were breathless and spent.
Lying on her back, Zhao Xunyin reached for her phone and saw that it was already past two in the afternoon. They’d gotten so caught up that they’d skipped lunch entirely, and now that everything was winding down, her stomach made its complaint known with a loud growl.
Setting her phone aside, Zhao Xunyin drew Shi Nanbei into her arms and asked gently,
“Hungry?”
Heaven knows, Zhao Xunyin really had only meant to ask Shi Nanbei if she was hungry—literally hungry.
But somehow, Shi Nanbei had completely misunderstood her intentions, thinking Zhao meant something else entirely—that after driving for so long, she still hadn’t been satisfied, and was now planning to drag her along for another “round” after they were done.
So, Shi Nanbei puffed up her cheeks indignantly.
“I’m telling you, young people need to know how to balance work and rest. You can’t overindulge, got it?”
Zhao Xunyin: “…”
How did she suddenly become the one accused of overindulgence?
Who was it that couldn’t get enough of whom just now?
“I,” Zhao Xunyin had barely started when Shi Nanbei cut her off.
“Okay, okay, no need to explain. I know you’re thirty-four and at your prime, but I’m only twenty-one, alright? I’m still young. Sure, young flesh is tempting, but you’ve got to pace yourself!”
Zhao Xunyin: “…”
Who exactly was she calling “at her prime”?
Feeling the tension, Shi Nanbei burrowed deeper into Zhao Xunyin’s arms. Realizing that her words might’ve crossed the line, she wisely tilted her head up, pouted, and planted two quick kisses on Zhao Xunyin’s chin.
“Let’s continue tonight, okay? I’m kinda hungry right now.”
Zhao Xunyin stayed quiet for a long moment before replying to her endlessly overactive wife,
“I was just asking if you were hungry.”
“Eh?” Shi Nanbei’s eyes widened in disbelief. As her earlier words replayed in her head, her face instantly flushed red.
Crap.
She’d totally exposed just how full her brain was of dirty thoughts.
She Nanbei: “…”
After a long, awkward silence, Shi Nanbei finally mumbled, “I am a little hungry. What do you want for lunch?”
Zhao Xunyin’s voice came out cool and slow.
“I’m ‘thirty-four and at my prime,’ am I?”
Shi Nanbei: “…”
“I’m the one who ‘overindulges’?”
Shi Nanbei: “…”
“And young people should ‘know how to balance work and rest’?”
Shi Nanbei: “…”
With each question, Shi Nanbei’s head drooped a little lower. By the end, she was practically trying to bury her face in Zhao Xunyin’s chest out of guilt.
“I didn’t mean it like that,” she murmured, clinging to Zhao Xunyin like a koala. Then, in her softest, most pleading tone, she added, “Our Best Actress Zhao is literally number one on the list of female celebrities lesbians most want to sleep with! I didn’t mean it that way, really!”
“Oh? Then what did you mean?” Zhao Xunyin, completely unmoved by her coaxing, asked coldly. “Because it sounds to me like you care a lot about my age.”
Shi Nanbei, now fully buried in her arms, whispered, “I don’t dislike your age.”
“Really?” Zhao—mentally three years old—Xunyin asked with mock seriousness. “Then swear it. If you’re lying, you’ll fail every single one of your exams.”
Shi Nanbei: “…”
That was a dangerous bet.
After a long pause, she whispered so softly it was almost inaudible, “It’s not that I really mind, just a tiny bit, maybe.”
Zhao Xunyin: “…”
That was the first time in her entire career she’d ever been openly disliked for something—
and with such confidence, too.
For a brief moment, Zhao Xunyin truly wanted to pry open her little wife’s head to see what kind of nonsense was rolling around inside.
She, a dignified Best Actress—
married her after a blind date, no less—
only to end up being disliked for being too old.
Unbelievable.
Did being a Best Actress mean she didn’t deserve any respect?
