Pats Little Shrike's Tail - Chapter 136
Chapter 136
Faced with the mountain sparrow’s “shameless” request, Shen Qingyi simply chuckled softly, and the next second, she captured Shan Ling’s lips with her own.
The two watched the highly-rated movie, then went to the reserved restaurant to enjoy excellent service. After finishing their meal as planned, Shen Qingyi produced a silver bracelet and personally fastened it onto Shan Ling’s wrist.
The sparkling diamond bracelet looked exquisite. Shan Ling was naturally thrilled to receive the gift, but she looked at Shen Qingyi with concern.
“I didn’t prepare a gift for you. What should I do?” Shan Ling asked, a little embarrassed.
Shen Qingyi smiled: “Then save it for next time you give it to me.”
A date required give-and-take. Shen Qingyi had already thought about where their next date would be. She regretted taking on Professor Hu’s commission; otherwise, she could have used her time off to take Shan Ling traveling instead of just watching movies and eating out.
Although Shan Ling looked very happy, Shen Qingyi still wanted to give her more and better things.
The restaurant was located at a high-rise window seat. Turning her head, Shan Ling could see the city lights and the raindrops scattering across the vast expanse.
A layer of mist rose over the blurred city, hazy and indistinct, obscuring anything further away.
“The rain seems to be getting heavier,” Shan Ling looked out the window and suddenly said to Shen Qingyi, “Did you close the doors and windows when you left?”
“Yes,” Shen Qingyi also looked out the window, gently took Shan Ling’s hand, and whispered, “Tonight… let’s not go home.”
Shan Ling tilted her head and looked at her, her eyes bright and curious, making Shen Qingyi’s ears flush.
“We’re not going home tonight?” Shan Ling asked frankly, “Are we getting a room outside? Like last time?”
She remembered the last time they stayed out overnight because of the snow. It felt like only a few months ago, and now the two of them seemed to be trapped by the rain again.
“It seems every time we stay overnight, the weather isn’t very good,” Shan Ling leaned close to Shen Qingyi, gazing at the neon lights outside, and sighed, “Suddenly, I don’t feel like this weather is so bad anymore.”
Shen Qingyi lowered her gaze, holding Shan Ling’s hand tightly.
The room was naturally booked on the highest floor of the hotel—a large suite with floor-to-ceiling windows. By simply pulling back the curtains, they could see the bustling city. It was only because of the rain and fewer guests that they were able to book it last minute.
Shan Ling also bought a cup of milk tea and a cup of coffee downstairs. When she first entered the suite, she was astonished.
“This room is much better than the one we stayed in last time,” Shan Ling went to the bedroom for a look, then paused for two seconds before rushing out to whisper to Shen Qingyi, “The bed is so soft! Softer than the one at our house.”
Shen Qingyi smiled at her reaction, pulled her close, cupped her cheeks, and said, “What, do you want to sleep in a very soft bed?”
Shan Ling smiled, pressed against her, and hugged her waist: “Soft beds are comfortable to sleep in. Who doesn’t like a soft, cozy bed?”
“Okay, then after we experience this today, we’ll go back and replace our mattress with a soft one.” Shen Qingyi’s voice was tight. She looked down at the little mountain sparrow, lowered her head, and captured the other’s lips.
Shan Ling naturally understood what Shen Qingyi wanted to do. She kissed her back passionately by the door, breathing in each other’s air, lost in the soft tenderness.
Clothes were stripped off one by one, tracing a path from the doorway to the bedroom. It wasn’t until Shen Qingyi held Shan Ling’s waist, pinning her against the bedroom door, that this sweet night truly began…
The next day, neither Shan Ling nor Shen Qingyi woke up until noon.
When the front desk called, Shan Ling was still sleeping soundly under the covers. Shen Qingyi was awake, but she had slept so late the previous night that it took her a long time to react to the phone ringing before she finally answered it.
Shan Ling quietly poked her head out from under the covers, listening as Shen Qingyi seemed to extend the room booking for another day. Then she whimpered and burrowed into her embrace.
The two had showered together the night before and were both completely naked now. When they hugged, Shen Qingyi could feel Shan Ling’s smooth skin. Her legs felt slippery, like they had been oiled, arousing Shen Qingyi.
“Are you awake?” Shen Qingyi, worried she might be cold, pulled the covers over both of them, then leaned down to exchange a good morning kiss with Shan Ling.
“Mm.” Shan Ling closed her eyes sleepily. She felt sore all over, wrinkled her nose, and muttered, “Tired, sore, and hungry. I want to eat small steamed buns.”
Shen Qingyi patted her back, soothing her: “Should we get up now then?”
The two had been intimate until the early hours of the morning, exhausting Shan Ling to the point where she was almost falling apart. Today, she truly had no energy to get up. Hearing this, she started whimpering and burrowing back into the covers, looking determined not to leave the bed.
Shen Qingyi was amused by her. She coaxed Shan Ling: “Since we’ve extended the room for another day, if you’re uncomfortable, just lie in the room. I’ll go downstairs to buy some buns and pay the room fee at the same time.”
Shan Ling poked her head out from under the covers and wondered, “You slept very late too. Aren’t you tired?”
“I’m alright,” Shen Qingyi propped her head up and looked at her. She pressed her forehead against Shan Ling’s and said, “I’m hungry too. Just listen to me and get some rest. We don’t have anything urgent to deal with today anyway.”
Shan Ling was very happy that Shen Qingyi was taking another day off to spend with her. She nodded obediently and said, “Why don’t you order takeout instead? Have it delivered to the door. Takeout is much faster than buying it yourself.”
The little mountain sparrow didn’t want to part with her. Shen Qingyi saw this and felt a sweetness in her heart, like eating honey. She immediately agreed to Shan Ling’s suggestion and didn’t leave the bed.
Before ordering takeout, Shen Qingyi and Shan Ling became intimate again by the sink, making them both sticky all over, so they decided to take a shower right away.
Dressed in the hotel’s white robes, Shan Ling sat on a chair in the outer room, her lower back propped up by a soft cushion, completely focused on the takeout containers in front of her.
“This is porridge, these are small steamed buns, and these are the side dishes,” Shen Qingyi, also wearing a matching white robe, carefully arranged the takeout—which was originally breakfast but now their lunch—in front of Shan Ling. She took out a portion of steamed dumplings and pan-fried dumplings from the takeout bag for herself and told Shan Ling, “You can try these too. I ordered everything from the same place, so it’s very convenient.”
The restaurant was located inside the adjacent mall. The prices were slightly higher than other takeout places, but the food was safe to eat and tasted excellent—it was one of the few chain breakfast spots.
Smelling the fragrant food made Shan Ling hungry. Coupled with the amount of energy she had expended the day before, she had felt hungry halfway through being intimate with Shen Qingyi that morning. Now, she was starving. She didn’t stand on ceremony with Shen Qingyi and quickly picked up a small steamed bun to eat.
“Delicious!” Shan Ling praised. “The flavor of these small steamed buns is so good! If it wasn’t so far from our house, I’d want a basket of them every day.”
Shen Qingyi smiled, picked up a steamed dumpling, and said, “Try this one with shrimp. It tastes great too.”
Shan Ling opened her mouth and took the steamed dumpling directly from Shen Qingyi’s chopsticks, chewing it and nodding: “It’s delicious. Everything from this place is delicious.”
Shen Qingyi paused for a moment, then put down her chopsticks and said, “I’m glad you like it.”
The two slowly ate their meal. Perhaps they hadn’t had enough affection the night before and just now, as the meal dragged on for over an hour. They finished eating only when the buns had gone cold.
The rain that had fallen all night stopped that morning, but the temperature had dropped by over ten degrees. Shan Ling checked the weather forecast and saw that today’s temperature was only in the single digits.
Lying idly on the bed, Shan Ling felt weak and uncomfortable all over. When she saw Shen Qingyi walk over, she beckoned her, asking Shen Qingyi to join her under the covers.
“Is it cold outside?” Shan Ling leaned against the pillows, worried: “We didn’t prepare food for the little birds today. With this sudden drop in temperature, will they not be able to find food?”
Shen Qingyi replied, “They lived well before you came along. You don’t need to worry about them too much.”
“Even so, I still feel a bit empty inside and worry they won’t have food,” Shan Ling sighed, thinking deeply: “Should I go back now?”
“Go back?” Shen Qingyi looked at Shan Ling next to her and teased her, “Who was it this morning that couldn’t stand up straight and fell directly onto the floor? How can you go back like that? Just lie down in the hotel for the day.”
Shan Ling grumbled. She really didn’t want to admit to her embarrassment that morning, but her waist was indeed sore and her legs were weak. The moment she stood up, she immediately sank to her knees. Thinking back, it was truly pathetic.
“I was just a little weak in the legs,” Shan Ling argued, hugging her blanket. “You shouldn’t keep making fun of me.”
“Okay, I won’t talk about it anymore.” Shen Qingyi’s eyes curved in a smile. She told Shan Ling, “When I came to pick you up yesterday, I already refilled the bird feed. They won’t starve.”
Shan Ling poked her head out, blinking her eyes at Shen Qingyi: “Did you already expect us to spend the night out when you came yesterday?”
Shen Qingyi also paused, rubbed the tip of her nose, and avoided the question, saying, “I didn’t exactly know… I just had a hunch.”
Shan Ling glared at her in response, then suddenly kicked her under the covers. Shen Qingyi burst into laughter at the kick, then lifted the blanket and covered them both inside…
The weather on the second day was still gloomy, but it was much brighter than the previous two days. The sun even briefly appeared for a few hours around noon.
Due to the temperature drop, the coffee stall business was unusually slow. However, this situation wouldn’t last much longer, as March was only a few days away, and the renovation team’s deadline was the end of March.
This meant that Shen Qingyi’s coffee shop was set to reopen in just one month.
Shan Ling sat on a chair, her hands tucked in her pockets, happily chatting with Nuo Nuo: “It’s opening in March! I wonder if the batch of equipment you ordered will arrive on time.”
Nuo Nuo fiddled with her phone and said, “It should be fine. Although we ordered a lot, we’re a regular customer, so there shouldn’t be any issues. Don’t worry, Xiao Ling.”
“Mm,” Shan Ling nodded. She was about to talk to Nuo Nuo about Shen Jiaojiao learning to make coffee when the phone on the table suddenly rang. Shan Ling looked at it, immediately smiled, and quickly answered the call.
“Hello, Yiyi~” Shan Ling said cheerfully, “Why are you calling me?”
Shen Qingyi was currently watering the plants on the balcony. A line of little birds tilted their heads, looking at her, their curious black eyes blinking. They were becoming less and less afraid of Shen Qingyi. If they couldn’t come inside, they probably would have landed on her.
While watering the plants, Shen Qingyi said, “What’s wrong? Can’t I call you if nothing is going on?”
“No, I mean you can call me whenever you want.” Shan Ling was very happy.
Shen Qingyi was also happy. She put down the watering can, her ear tips slightly red, and said, “It’s nothing much. I just miss you.”
Shan Ling’s eyes curved in a smile: “I miss you too.”
Nuo Nuo, sitting nearby, shuddered. She shot a pained look at her ‘boss’s girlfriend’ and silently put on her headphones.
