- Chapter 69 - You Must Be Happy with Pei Yu!
Xu Wanxing saw the words on the note, chuckled, and nudged Ji Rongyu, who was practically glued to his arm.
Ji Rongyu reluctantly moved away slightly, but his eyes remained burning, fixed on the note.
“She asked who your partner is and what my relationship with you is,” Xu Wanxing said.
Ji Rongyu’s movement stalled. He then leaned back next to Xu Wanxing, pressing his arm tightly against his, to look at the note. He only let out a sigh of relief when he confirmed those were the exact words.
“That’s good,” Ji Rongyu said.
“Ji Rongyu, Xu Wanxing, what are you two whispering about down there?” The professor’s stern voice came from the podium.
Xu Wanxing jolted, looking up at the professor.
Ji Rongyu is getting me into trouble!
“Ji Rongyu, come up and solve this problem.” The professor pointed to the problem on the blackboard, a mischievous smile on his face.
“This was the most difficult math question on last year’s postgraduate entrance exam. Almost no one could solve it. Ji Rongyu, why don’t you give it a try.”
Xu Wanxing turned to look at Ji Rongyu, silently mourning for three seconds, and stood up to let him pass. Ji Rongyu looked calm, gave Xu Wanxing a victorious hand gesture, and walked onto the podium.
On the podium, the professor looked at Ji Rongyu and shook his head. He quietly walked over to him and whispered, “Do you know Xu Wanxing is an Alpha?”
Ji Rongyu nodded and continued working on the problem.
The professor glanced at Xu Wanxing in the audience with surprise. Was it not what he thought?
It seems I really am old; I don’t understand these young people. At his age, such intimacy could only mean one thing: they were a couple.
The professor stood by the edge of the podium. “If you can’t solve it, it’s okay, after all, this problem…” He turned to look at the solution process on the blackboard and paused mid-sentence.
Wait, he actually knows how to do it?
He must be cheating. He was still far from taking the postgraduate exam. Ruling out the option that he had already done it and knew the correct answer, only one possibility remained: he was a genius.
A moment later, Ji Rongyu finished the problem. He shot a look at Xu Wanxing in the audience, his face bearing a hint of pride, as if to say, Hurry and praise me, hurry and praise me.
The professor lightly coughed twice and waved his hand, telling Ji Rongyu to sit down.
Ji Rongyu looked determinedly at Xu Wanxing, walking slowly towards him step by step.
Even the stylish girl, an outsider, sensed the extremely strange atmosphere between the two. Her eyes kept darting between them.
Xu Wanxing, however, was not looking at Ji Rongyu. He had his head down, terrified that the professor would call him up to solve another problem.
Ji Rongyu had already reached his side. Xu Wanxing stood up to let him into the seat. After sitting down, Ji Rongyu clasped his hands on the desk, feeling a little nervous.
Why hadn’t Xu Wanxing come to praise him yet?
Was his performance not obvious enough?
The professor was already passionately lecturing on the topic on the podium. Xu Wanxing happened not to know this specific problem, so he listened intently, his gaze focused. Ji Rongyu cleared his throat next to him.
Xu Wanxing looked at him strangely. Suddenly, Xu Wanxing’s eyes lit up. He pushed his scratch paper towards Ji Rongyu. “Why did this step turn into that?”
Ji Rongyu: “…” He was silent for a moment before starting to explain the problem to Xu Wanxing.
Xu Wanxing was very smart and grasped the concept instantly, his mind spinning quickly. After complimenting Ji Rongyu a couple of times, he wrote down the solution himself.
Although it wasn’t the kind of praise he expected, Ji Rongyu was still quite satisfied. A hint of barely noticeable pride appeared on his face, which was revered by many as divine.
This made Ji Rongyu appear even more noble and arrogant. His usual aloof expression, like a high-mountain flower, now became vibrant.
Xu Wanxing, however, failed to appreciate it. He retrieved the note the girl behind him had passed, and quietly asked, “School hunk, who is your partner?”
A faint flush crept onto Ji Rongyu’s exquisite, jade-like ears. He glanced away. “You’ve met them.”
Xu Wanxing paused, many faces flashing through his mind. Someone he had met, and Ji Rongyu liked?
Who?
Suddenly, Xu Wanxing thought of a character from the plot who had an excellent relationship with Ji Rongyu. He tentatively asked, “Do they interact with me often?”
Ji Rongyu thought for a moment. He appeared calm, but under the desk, his hands were tightly gripping his pants, pulling the smooth fabric into wrinkles.
Ji Rongyu gripped his pants again, his voice slightly husky. “Pretty much. They’re an Alpha.” Ji Rongyu was afraid his hint wasn’t clear enough and directly stated the fact.
Who did he interact with most often besides himself?
Xu Wanxing’s eyes held the light of realization—he had figured it out without saying it. Ji Rongyu’s image in his mind suddenly grew tall.
Does Ji Rongyu like Pei Yu?
The plot mentioned they were good friends.
Clue 1: Alpha.
Clue 2: Interacts with him often.
Clue 3: Someone he had met.
He didn’t need any more clues. Xu Wanxing knew he had touched the truth.
Alpha-Alpha love.
Impressive, impressive.
Ji Rongyu was so brave.
No, both of them are so brave.
Ji Rongyu relaxed when he saw Xu Wanxing’s surprised expression. He finally guessed it.
He leaned closer and saw Xu Wanxing rapidly writing on the note.
“Run! Ji Rongyu likes an Alpha. Your gender isn’t suitable.”
He passed the note to the girl.
The stylish girl received the note, opened it, and her eyes went wide. It was exactly what she had thought!
After class, everyone was packing up. The stylish girl finished packing but lingered, her cheeks flushed.
Her best friend came to find her, but she still didn’t leave, constantly glancing at Xu Wanxing and Ji Rongyu.
Finally, after a while, she mustered her courage and rushed up to them.
“You two must be happy!” she said, and then grabbed her best friend and ran off.
Xu Wanxing looked blankly at her retreating figure. Ji Rongyu pursed his lips and smiled.
Xu Wanxing hadn’t left the classroom yet when he heard Ji Rongyu’s voice behind him. “Wait.”
Xu Wanxing stopped. Ji Rongyu walked up beside him. It seemed like his imagination, but he felt Ji Rongyu looked a bit shy and timid.
The idiom “shy and timid” really didn’t suit this high-mountain flower. Xu Wanxing quickly shook his head, throwing out that strange thought.
Ji Rongyu said, “You must know who I like now, right?”
Xu Wanxing nodded, giving Ji Rongyu a thumbs-up. “School hunk, you’re very brave.”
Ji Rongyu’s lips curved upward slightly. His eyes hid a bit of a smile, and he was a little embarrassed. “Still calling me ‘school hunk’? Aren’t you going to change the way you address me?”
“Huh?” Xu Wanxing looked confused. Thinking about having to pick out a gift for the Old Master tonight, with the meeting scheduled for tomorrow evening, he slung his bag on and hurried out, leaving behind a sentence.
“You must be happy with Pei Yu!”
Ji Rongyu was about to follow his steps. Hearing that sentence, he froze on the spot as if struck by lightning, his pupils dilating.
What is Xu Wanxing saying?
Him and Pei Yu???
Nonsense!
That scoundrel Pei Yu? They are not suitable at all!
