- Over The Top! He Keeps Making the Gold-Digging Alpha Cry
- Chapter 117 - Lu Yanbai is About to Collapse
His speed was completely unstoppable, and the distance between him and Lu Yanbai was rapidly closing.
Xu Wanxing couldn’t understand Lu Yanbai’s action. His mind was frantic, his throat hurt intensely, and he was making various movements to try and halt his speed.
Lu Yanbai was right in front of him. Xu Wanxing closed his eyes and gave up struggling. The next second, he felt himself being embraced.
Then came the intense world-spinning, dizzying sensation that nearly forced sour bile up from his stomach.
After tumbling for a while, Xu Wanxing’s consciousness was somewhat blurry. Although he was wearing extremely thick gear, he still felt the heat draining from his body. His cheeks were icy cold, completely covered in snow.
“Baby? Baby, wake up, Xu Wanxing?”
Lu Yanbai’s voice drifted in and out, far and near, distant yet close, as if in his ear and yet at the edge of the sky.
Xu Wanxing vaguely looked toward the source of the sound and saw Lu Yanbai’s handsome face pressed extremely close. Only then did he feel a sense of being grounded in reality.
Survival after a disaster.
That moment was truly terrifying.
Xu Wanxing was momentarily lucid, then leaned against Lu Yanbai’s shoulder and dry-heaved twice. The tumbling had made him sick.
He had woken up too early today and had no appetite. His stomach was empty, so nothing came up.
Xu Wanxing wiped the saliva from the corner of his mouth. He felt much better now.
Suddenly realizing something, Xu Wanxing’s expression turned grim, “Why were you standing there just now? It was too dangerous, don’t you know? How much it must hurt to be crashed into like that.”
Lu Yanbai didn’t speak. Xu Wanxing was puzzled as to why Lu Yanbai didn’t reply and looked at him strangely.
He suddenly noticed that Lu Yanbai’s face was deathly pale. His goggles had flown off somewhere. One of Lu Yanbai’s eyes was open, and the other was closed. There was a patch of blood on the closed eyelid.
There was a wound at the corner of his eye, not large, but bleeding profusely, covering Lu Yanbai’s eyelid and then running down his long eyelashes.
It was horrifying, yet possessing a kind of eerie beauty.
But in Xu Wanxing’s eyes, nothing was more heartbreaking than this.
Xu Wanxing’s voice choked up, “How did this get broken? And bleeding so much! Hubby, does it hurt a lot?”
Lu Yanbai shook his head very slightly and slowly, “Baby doesn’t know how to ski, so why did you go up to ski? You don’t even know how to brake. You could easily break your leg.”
He paused, then added, “I’m not exaggerating. You really could break your leg.”
He spoke slowly, his voice very faint. His leg hurt a lot; it was likely broken.
But it wasn’t a big problem.
It was his leg, not Xu Wanxing’s. That was enough.
He was too scared. He was terrified of losing Xu Wanxing.
Never had a moment made him so afraid as just now.
Even when his father was so cowardly, and his mother so fond of sowing discord, and the two of them just loved taking money to spend extravagantly on travel, completely unconcerned with him, their son, he didn’t feel anything.
He didn’t need their love.
But Xu Wanxing was different.
He was different.
Xu Wanxing’s face, which had been pale from the cold, suddenly turned red. His eyes darted away, and he patted his face, “Got it.”
He had wanted to show Lu Yanbai his technique, but he had ended up being counterproductive, causing Lu Yanbai to smash his face.
Lu Yanbai’s face was flawless white jade, incredibly handsome, yet he had made it look vividly messy.
He was guilty.
Lu Yanbai acknowledged him, then didn’t continue lecturing Xu Wanxing. He reached out and patted his hair, brushing off the clinging snow.
Xu Wanxing listened to the rustling sound above his head, keeping his head down and not daring to make a sound.
Lu Yanbai is so good.
After Lu Yanbai finished patting, Xu Wanxing struggled to climb up from the snow. Only one ski remained on his foot; the other was long gone.
After getting up, Xu Wanxing looked around but didn’t find it. He bent down to help Lu Yanbai get up.
He pulled, but Lu Yanbai didn’t budge.
Xu Wanxing thought his strength was too little, so he pulled harder.
Lu Yanbai still didn’t move from his spot, only shifting his body slightly to the side. His complexion was thin and translucent, and his voice was faint: “Baby, I can’t get up. My foot hurts a little. Call Lin Yao and ask him to get someone to bring us back.”
“Okay.” Xu Wanxing quickly agreed, his gaze fixed on Lu Yanbai’s foot, but Lu Yanbai shifted back a little, completely shielding that foot.
Xu Wanxing’s hand trembled as he pulled out his phone from his pocket to call Lin Yao.
Perhaps because they were on the snowy mountain, the signal was poor. The call rang for over a minute before connecting.
Xu Wanxing explained the situation to the other side with a choked voice, and only sighed in relief after receiving Lin Yao’s reply.
He squatted down next to Lu Yanbai and said, “Lin Yao said he’ll be here right away. Let me look at your foot.”
A hint of awkwardness flashed in Lu Yanbai’s eyes. He maintained his posture, “Don’t look. It doesn’t look good.”
Hearing this, Xu Wanxing couldn’t hold back anymore. He pressed close to Lu Yanbai and took off his glove to touch the bloodstain on Lu Yanbai’s eyelid.
It had already dried. Not air-dried, but likely frozen dry.
Lu Yanbai’s eyelid was very, very cold, like ice—completely not a normal person’s temperature. Xu Wanxing felt panicked and touched Lu Yanbai’s forehead.
It was icy cold.
Lu Yanbai wanted to dodge, but with the bleeding and hypothermia, his movements were too slow. He couldn’t evade the movement he could easily avoid before.
Xu Wanxing’s voice was choked as he asked, “Hubby, are you very cold?” He reached out and embraced Lu Yanbai’s upper body.
Lu Yanbai tried to struggle free, but his strength was so weak that Xu Wanxing didn’t even notice.
Time passed minute by minute…
Xu Wanxing was consumed by anxiety. Lu Yanbai’s eyes were already closed. His long eyelashes fluttered faintly in the cold wind, looking incredibly pathetic.
Xu Wanxing’s heart was breaking.
He pulled out his phone, took off his glove, and dialed Lin Yao’s number again.
This time it connected quickly. Xu Wanxing immediately rushed the person on the other end, “Why aren’t you here yet? You’re too slow! Please hurry up, Lu Yanbai is about to collapse.”
Lin Yao was stunned for a moment. He quickly instructed the driver, “Speed up.”
Shen Yuxian, sitting next to Lin Yao, looked terrible. This whole disaster was his fault; he hadn’t taught Xu Wanxing how to brake!
It was a miracle that Xu Wanxing was alive and unharmed.
Lin Yao glanced at Shen Yuxian and noticed his face was etched with self-reproach.
What a strange person.
Listening to the continuous urging from the phone, Lin Yao quickly told Xu Wanxing, “He’s going to die? Do you know that only two minutes have passed since you made the last call? We’ll be there soon, don’t rush so much.”
The “not-dead” Lu Yanbai wiggled his fingers, using immense effort to place his hand on Xu Wanxing’s back, patting him lightly a few times.
He said weakly, “Baby, I’m not dead. Don’t curse your hubby.”
Xu Wanxing: “I’m scared to death! I saw you close your eyes and your breathing was so faint, I thought you were about to collapse.”
“I am very capable.” How can a man say he’s incapable?
After Lu Yanbai spoke, the only eye he had open saw a Snow Cat approaching in the distance.
