Our Summer Isn't Over Yet - Chapter 58
On the surface, the Richard couple’s visit to the royal palace was ostensibly to bid farewell to the King before embarking on a long journey. As they were soldiers before being high-ranking nobles, no one found the Richard couple’s actions strange.
“His Majesty the King requests that you wait a moment.”
A person who appeared at Morgan’s command in the well-appointed reception room bowed and conveyed his message.
Mia nodded, while contemplating how to separate from Dylan and have a private meeting with Morgan. Judging by Dylan’s close proximity, it didn’t seem like he would allow them to meet separately.
A way to go to Morgan without arousing Dylan’s suspicion as much as possible.
“And Duke Richard, Viscount Borman has visited the palace.”
Mia’s head lifted.
Soon, Dylan’s cool voice rang out.
“Viscount Borman?”
He seemed surprised by the sudden appearance of the Vice-Admiral. His expression was as stoic as usual, but Mia, who always tried to read him, could see it clearly.
“Yes! The Viscount said he has something urgent to tell the Duke. He also mentioned that he had been sending letters and making phone calls to the mansion for days, but had not received a reply.”
Dylan’s face cracked as if he had remembered something from the following words.
Mia scanned the situation once. She wasn’t sure if Morgan had orchestrated this situation, but one thing was clear. If she didn’t send Dylan away here, a private meeting would be out of the question.
Mia carefully opened her mouth.
“Isn’t it urgent?”
Dylan’s gaze slowly moved and reached Mia. He seemed to be gauging her thoughts. Even under the pouring gaze, Mia wore a soft smile as usual.
“Why don’t you go? This is a place to seek permission from His Majesty the King, so your help is not needed.”
“……”
“If His Majesty permits, I will go with you to meet the Fourth Prince. Then there’s nothing to worry about, is there?”
He was silent, and Mia didn’t urge him.
Of course, the heart beating inside was pounding very fast. She was worried that all the sounds might be heard outside, but there was no significant change in Mia’s expression.
Dylan, who seemed to be gauging the situation, soon got up from his seat. He spat out with concise actions and tone.
“I’ll try to finish it as soon as possible and come back.”
“Okay, I’ll be waiting.”
Mia couldn’t know what Dylan had to talk about with Elio Borman, but she was sure that it wasn’t a story related to Walter or herself.
Dylan, who had hesitated several times, left the reception room.
Not long after he left, Mia was able to have a private meeting with Morgan.
“You’ve made quite a big deal out of it, Mia Blair.”
Morgan opened his mouth with a sarcastic voice. But only for a moment, he sighed briefly and suggested she sit down.
As Mia sat across from him and tried to apologize, Morgan raised his hand to stop her.
“That’s enough. My people behind you are the ones who made the mistake, not you.”
“I didn’t know you would go so far as to divert people’s attention by causing casualties. It’s my fault for not anticipating that far.”
Morgan closed his mouth at Mia’s attitude of readily admitting her mistake.
The process of arresting Jose was so noisy that the rumor inevitably spread to the capital. Mia was put forward to prevent the attention from being focused on the royal family, so the royal family suffered almost no damage.
Mia had no intention of pointing out that fact.
There was no reason to care about the ‘Seidimia’ husk that would soon be discarded. It was better in many ways to use anything to create a debt to Morgan and move the situation in a way that would help her.
As if reading her thoughts, Morgan shook his head and brought up the story she was most curious about.
“The Philatro delegation was sent on the day the prince was arrested.”
“You proceeded quickly.”
“It’s easier to avoid people’s attention when things are most chaotic.”
Morgan closed his eyes for a moment and gauged the date, then told her when they would arrive after some time had passed.
“If there are no major problems, people from Philatro will arrive in a month, no, in three weeks.”
Mia’s mouth loosened for a moment, and then Mia conveyed to Morgan what she had heard from Jose.
“The Fourth Prince said he knows where my parents’ remains are. I’m telling you now because His Majesty must find that as well.”
“It’s scheduled to be transported to Murad soon, so we need to find out the exact location as soon as possible.”
Morgan’s expression became serious as if he had heard unexpected information. He tapped the armrest and muttered.
Judging from his reaction, it seemed that he had not conveyed the content Walter had requested. She had expected it, but a bitter feeling rushed in when she confirmed it.
“More than that, you’re going to the southern resort with Duke Richard.”
“Dylan suggested it. I could have refused, but I judged that if I was in the capital, I could quickly deal with matters related to the Philatro delegation.”
“Huh. How far are you going to calculate and move?”
“Didn’t His Majesty deliberately entrust the Murad royal family trial to the Duke?”
Mia answered calmly to Morgan, who was mixed with surprise and astonishment.
That was the first thought she had when she heard that Walter was leaving for Murad. Just as Mia didn’t keep Dylan in the capital, Morgan had made a move to keep Walter out of the capital.
Since the two dukes had already joined hands, it was clear that Morgan was sending Walter away to minimize any variables they might face.
Whether Mia’s reading was exactly right, pure admiration burst out of Morgan’s mouth.
“Ha, you’re really a coveted talent.”
Morgan sincerely suggested that she could stay in Hippolia whenever she wanted, but Mia didn’t give a different answer.
“That’s right, I did this to keep the promise I made with you.”
Morgan shrugged his shoulders at her attitude, which could have made him feel bad, and continued.
“Of course, there’s that too, and in fact, Duke March has been acting strangely for some time.”
“Duke March?”
“He’s been asking me annoying questions as if he’s trying to test me. I don’t know if it’s a part that’s been discussed with Duke Richard, but you should be careful too.”
“Thank you for your concern.”
With Mia’s thanks, Morgan got up from his seat. He ended with a short word that meeting Jose was impossible and told her to leave.
As she bowed briefly, Morgan said as if he had remembered something he had forgotten.
“Oh, I asked for the noble genealogy too. Shall I take it now?”
Only then did Mia remember that she had asked him to find the ‘Dabi family’.
She wanted to check it right away, but she decided to step back because she had to leave the capital soon. It wasn’t too late to find it after returning later.
“Can I check it when I come back? I don’t know what to say to Dylan if I take it with me right now.”
“Do as you please. I hope you have a good rest at the resort.”
When she raised her eyes slightly, Morgan was clearly visible. His gaze was on Mia’s cheek, which was covered with makeup.
“I’m sorry that your body became like that.”
“It was my choice, and it was a natural action to take in order to get what I wanted.”
At her nonchalant answer, Morgan sighed softly and muttered.
“You seem to be the only one who doesn’t know why the two dukes are protecting you.”
Mia, who lightly brushed off the words that flowed into her ears, smiled brightly and said her final farewell.
“Then I will return to the capital around the time the Philatro delegation arrives. Thank you, Your Majesty.”
Dylan, who had left the reception room where Mia was, turned around and looked at the door even as he walked.
He had already spoken with Morgan, so she wouldn’t be meeting Jose, but he was worried because he couldn’t grasp what kind of conversation would take place in a situation where only Morgan and Mia were meeting.
Above all, he was controlling information even from Morgan, so it would be difficult if Morgan found out something through a conversation with Mia.
However, he couldn’t ignore Elio either. Dylan, who had been by Mia’s side for several days and had mostly cut off communication with the outside world, was only able to skim through the letters Elio had left this morning.
[Admiral, I have identified some of the royal family’s troops using the blocked route.]
These were urgent words conveyed to the Admiral by the Vice-Admiral, not to scratch Dylan’s nerves. It was a story that could be easily overlooked if taken lightly.
The blocked route was only prohibited to civilians, and it was not a problem for the royal family’s troops to use it. Furthermore, if they used the route by Morgan’s order, it was even more so.
The only part that bothered Dylan was.
‘Philatro.’
It seemed that Morgan had connected the connection with Philatro, which he had somehow blocked.
And he had an ominous feeling that Mia might be involved in all of those plans.
He sighed repeatedly and entered the reception room where Elio was waiting.
