Obsessive Love, The Possessive Real Young Lady - Chapter 58
The moment the sun began to dip towards the west, the temperature started to plummet. Such was the season of early winter; warmth had become a luxury. Shen Jiayan sat beneath a withered tree in the villa’s yard, staring blankly at the iron gate.
It had been three days since Su Sui left, hadn’t it?
Throughout these three days, she had hardly stepped out, sitting there in a thin sweater, clutching her phone, and waiting for her return.
Her life seemed to have reverted to the past.
She was back to the time when she would resort to self-abuse to beg for the other person’s pity. Except this time, the target had changed to Su Sui the woman she used to disregard, the one she had always believed would never leave her, no matter how much she acted out or ignored her.
In the cold weather, her fingers were noticeably stiff with the cold.
Shen Jiayan even mistyped the password multiple times while trying to unlock her phone.
Frustrated, she temporarily placed the phone on her lap, cupped her cold, red hands, and breathed hot air onto them.
A white plume of vapor rose into the air, and upon meeting the cold, it condensed into frost that clung to Shen Jiayan’s eyelashes, like two fans of white feathers.
She lit up the phone screen and took another selfie of herself.
In the photo, she looked listless and sickly, as pitiful as could be.
Shen Jiayan sent it to Su Sui again.
[I’m sick and feeling awful.]
Though it was a short sentence, it took her a full minute to type out.
After the message was sent, it sank into silence, just like a stone dropped into the ocean, with no reply.
Shen Jiayan scrolled through her phone screen, carefully examining the messages and photos she had sent during this time to figure out what was wrong.
What had made Su Sui so determined to ignore her? To let her abuse herself in the cold weather.
After reviewing, she couldn’t find anything wrong.
The tone, the wording, and even the expression in the photo all conveyed her regret and her acknowledgement of her mistake, pleading for Su Sui to look back at her.
But why wouldn’t Su Sui reply?
Even a single word, an emoji, or a punctuation mark would be fine. Failing that, a system notification that she had been blocked would be acceptable. Anything was better than this complete ignorance, which made her feel less important than a stranger in Su Sui’s eyes.
“Ding dong…”
Shen Jiayan’s eyes instantly brightened. She looked down at her phone.
Su Sui’s chat page was still filled with green message bubbles (sent messages).
But the message was from Gao Wei.
[Sis, I’m on my way back now.]
But when she saw the next sentence, Shen Jiayan sprang up from the chair.
[Sister Su Su said to pack your things and drive us to H City.]
She would get to see Su Sui!
She rushed into the room, quickly applied light makeup in front of the mirror, and then sat in the living room, waiting quietly.
Before long, a car horn sounded, and a black SUV drove in.
Once the car stopped, Gao Wei opened the door and stepped out.
She was wearing a thick woolen hat, a down jacket, and a scarf around her neck, making her look bulky and clumsy. Even so, it couldn’t hide the smile on her face.
“Sis, I missed you so much,” she said, walking toward the house, then quickly flung herself onto Shen Jiayan. “Sis, what’s wrong? You’ve gotten so thin.”
“Have I?” Shen Jiayan gently pushed Gao Wei away, forcing a faint smile. “My stomach problem flared up recently, so I haven’t eaten much.”
Her gaze remained fixed on the half-open front door as she spoke.
“Stomach problem?” Gao Wei looked worried. “Do you need to go to the hospital?”
“It’s nothing, I’ve already taken medicine,” Shen Jiayan reassured her. “Don’t worry.”
Gao Wei nodded. “Okay, well, you sit down, Sis. I’ll go call Uncle Wang to help with the luggage.”
She turned to walk outside.
Uncle Wang?? Did that mean Su Sui hadn’t come?
The moment Gao Wei stepped out the door, Shen Jiayan suddenly stood up and called her back.
“A-Wei, is Su Sui in the car?”
Gao Wei paused, then shook her head. “No, she’s not.”
“But you said in the WeChat message that Su Sui told me to pack my things…” Shen Jiayan trailed off.
Gao Wei: “Oh, after we finished the discharge procedures today, Sister Su Su sent me a message saying she’d send someone to take us to H City.” She paused before continuing, “Sis, haven’t you seen her since you came back?”
But after hearing Gao Wei’s words, Shen Jiayan’s mind was a mess. She pursed her lips and silently sat back down on the chair.
“No,” Shen Jiayan’s tone became a little low.
Before I even see her, she’s trying to send me away.
As this thought emerged, Shen Jiayan felt tightness in her chest and shortness of breath. Her heart was pricked with a slight pain that spread through her limbs, making even breathing difficult.
Su Sui, how could you bear it?
She clenched her hands, gritting her teeth, trying her best to control her emotions.
However, the more she tried to restrain herself, the more agitated she became.
Since Su Sui was hiding and dared not see her, then she would go to her and demand a clear answer.
Why did Su Sui get to unilaterally disrupt her formerly peaceful life…
…and then just walk away so nonchalantly, telling her to go back to H City?
Shen Jiayan took a deep breath, barely managing to suppress the anger surging within her.
“A-Wei, you go pack your luggage first. I need to go out for a while.”
Having said that, she grabbed her phone and rushed out the door.
Su Sui was a simple person with no social circle. As a result, the only places she could be were just a few: the library, the Shen family residence, and the venture capital company she started for her.
Shen Jiayan drove her small red car and went to the library Su Sui frequented, but unfortunately, she didn’t find anyone.
So, she drove to the venture capital company.
Su Sui had only mentioned this place once or twice, and though Su Sui had founded it using her name,
Shen Jiayan was a complete stranger to the place. She was afraid she might have remembered the address incorrectly or gone to the wrong door.
Shen Jiayan parked her small red car in a street parking spot and got out.
A gust of wind blew by, chilling her to the bone.
The wind also made her heart feel icy cold, and she couldn’t help but smile bitterly.
Shen Jiayan, oh Shen Jiayan, don’t forget that you were the one who hurt Su Sui first.
Now, how can you have the face to question her?
She looked up, gazing at the skyscraper.
But if she didn’t get a clear explanation today, she would probably regret it for the rest of her life.
The office building was magnificently constructed; the lobby alone was much more luxurious than that of other companies.
The building had 38 floors, with each floor serving as the office area for a department or a company.
Shen Jiayan walked straight to the elevator and took it upstairs. Following the floor directory, she pressed for the 21st floor, where the venture capital company was located.
When the elevator door opened, the front desk receptionist was slightly surprised to see Shen Jiayan.
This woman’s appearance was identical to the Chairman in the photo!
The receptionist quickly put down her work and walked over, tentatively asking, “May I ask who you are?”
“I’m here to see Su Sui,” Shen Jiayan’s voice was a little quick. “Is she here?”
Hearing this woman, who looked exactly like the Chairman, call the Director by her first name,
The receptionist immediately confirmed that this was the mysterious Chairman whose photo Director Su kept on her desk.
She hadn’t expected that after working at the company for over two years, she would finally see the living Chairman today.
Her attitude instantly became enthusiastic.
“Director Su is in a meeting on the 22nd floor. I’ll take you there,” the receptionist said, leading her toward the elevator.
“Thank you.”
The two arrived at the 22nd floor.
The door to Su Sui’s conference room was closed, and faint voices could be heard discussing inside.
“…This is the project our project department is currently following up on. Please take a look, Director Su…”
The receptionist led Shen Jiayan around to a small, slightly ajar door nearby, knocked lightly, and whispered, “Director Su, the Chairman is here!”
Hearing the voice, the people inside immediately stopped their discussion, looked towards the small door, and began whispering amongst themselves.
Only Su Sui, gripping a document in her hand, was completely frozen.
She hadn’t expected that the proud Shen Jiayan would actually come looking for her.
Moreover, she should have avoided her at this time.
Su Sui’s fingertips gripping the document turned white, and the color rapidly drained from her face.
Then, she calmly closed the document.
“My apologies, everyone. This concludes today’s meeting. Ms. Shen and I have something to discuss.”
Su Sui said, stuffing the document folder into the receptionist’s hand. “Give this document to Xiao Sun later and have her prepare a data analysis report for me.”
After speaking, Su Sui pulled Shen Jiayan into the elevator and went straight to the top-floor office.
Su Sui’s office decor was very similar to the impression she consistently gave: composed of black, white, and gray, conveying a sense of coldness and cleanliness.
“What? Not leaving with Gao Wei?” Su Sui looked coldly at Shen Jiayan. “What are you here for?”
The attitude was distant.
There seemed to be a chasm between them that couldn’t be crossed.
“What do you think?” Shen Jiayan stared directly into Su Sui’s eyes, not backing down. “Do we need to waste time with such nonsense? Su Sui, you know what my coming here means, and you know what I want to do.”
As she spoke, she had already backed Su Sui into a corner, blocking all of Su Sui’s lines of sight.
The distance between the two was minimal, their noses almost touching, and they could even smell each other’s presence.
An ambiguous and awkward atmosphere flowed in the air.
Su Sui’s eyes were beautiful, clear and defined, and her shifting gaze revealed a sense of calm and composure.
However, Shen Jiayan never saw a hint of panic in Su Sui’s eyes; she even felt that Su Sui didn’t care about her at all.
It was like a pool of still water, without any ripples.
“Su Sui, don’t force me,” Shen Jiayan’s tone was full of warning.
“Oh, really?” Su Sui slightly raised an eyebrow, a mocking curve appearing at the corner of her lips.
Shen Jiayan’s heart dropped.
This reaction was not what she had hoped for, but she had to face it.
Shen Jiayan: “Why didn’t you reply to my messages?”
Su Sui: “…”
Shen Jiayan: “Tell me why you didn’t reply to my messages! And why are you trying to send me away!”
As she spoke, she leaned in close to Su Sui’s neck, breathing in the long-missed scent of books.
Her low voice carried too much longing.
But Su Sui remained silent the entire time.
Shen Jiayan then grabbed Su Sui’s collar. “Your mouth is really stubborn!”
Saying that, she cupped Su Sui’s face and kissed her.
She kissed her fiercely, with intense possessiveness.
She was unwilling, truly unwilling.
“Slap”
A loud slap echoed.
Shen Jiayan looked at Su Sui with a hint of disbelief.
But Su Sui looked back at her mockingly, her fingers gently stroking the cheek that had just been slapped, then sliding down to her jawline.
She then used one finger to gently lift Shen Jiayan’s chin.
In an aloof, detached manner, she said coolly, “I won’t blame you this time, but don’t let there be a next time.”
