Obsessive Love, The Possessive Real Young Lady - Chapter 21
Shen Jiayan, wrapped in her coat, sat on a bench in the police station hallway, shivering uncontrollably.
Mother Su was dead.
She had died right before her eyes.
After hearing the loud bang, she and Su Sui rushed to the scene. Mother Su was already lying on the ground, gasping for breath. Blood beads hung from her mouth, nose, and ears, making her look terrifying.
Especially when she saw them, Mother Su struggled to reach out to them, as if trying to grab them.
She shed bloody tears, opening her mouth to vaguely say something, but only endless bloody foam came out.
Finally, amidst Fu Jing’s scream, she completely stopped breathing.
Mother Su was dead, but her death left Shen Jiayan, who witnessed everything, unable to recover for a long time. Mother Su’s last words kept replaying in her mind: “The last thought…”
And the eyes Mother Su had when she took her last breath.
Unwillingness, reluctance, and regret…
It turned out that Mother Su’s talk of leaving meant leaving in this way, just like Yang Xinjie back then.
Shen Jiayan couldn’t understand.
Isn’t living good? If one isn’t afraid of death, why fear living?
Why did Mother Su choose death?
Why would she feel that life was unbearable?
All sorts of negative emotions filled Shen Jiayan’s chest, making her heart feel like it was being pierced by needles, as if it was about to split open.
“Jiayan.” Su Sui walked up to Shen Jiayan after finishing her statement, squatted down, and gently patted her back with a gentle and comforting tone, “Don’t be afraid, I’m here.”
Shen Jiayan looked up at Su Sui.
Her expression was calm and indifferent, showing no sign of the grief of losing a mother, as if she hadn’t been affected at all.
On second thought, that made sense.
Su Sui grew up under Mother Su’s abuse, so naturally, she wouldn’t feel pain at her mother’s death; she might even feel relieved, as if a burden was lifted.
Then what about her? If she died one day, would Su Sui have the same attitude? After all, what she had done to Su Sui was arguably worse than what Mother Su had done.
Thinking this, the words Su Sui had said to her just before the incident “I love you, a love that wants to keep you by my side no matter when or where, a love that would want to freeze you in a refrigerator even if you died, so I can see you, hug you, and kiss you day and night…”seemed so ridiculous now.
“Jiayan?” Su Sui frowned when she saw Shen Jiayan staring blankly at her, “What’s wrong? What are you thinking?”
“N-nothing…” Shen Jiayan gathered her scattered thoughts and shook her head, “Just thinking about some things, I’m fine.”
“Mm.” Su Sui nodded slightly. “The police have ruled out homicide. I’ve already notified the funeral home to come and handle Mother Su’s affairs. I’ll send you back first before I go follow up.”
“So soon? According to custom, shouldn’t it take…” Shen Jiayan was confused.
“She’s an orphan, with no relatives or friends,” Su Sui interrupted. “We’ll cremate her and scatter the ashes on a mountaintop. I think that would be the best final resting place for her.”
Hearing her answer, a chill ran down Shen Jiayan’s back.
The best resting place?
For an orphan, Mother Su’s greatest desire in life was probably to have a home of her own. Yet, after her death, her daughter would not even arrange a resting place for her, but instead turned around and scattered her ashes.
Shen Jiayan closed her eyes, feeling a deep ache in her heart.
Even though Su Sui claimed to love her to the core…
If Su Sui could be this cold-blooded and merciless towards her own mother,
Then, once this love disappears, would she truly hold no hatred towards her?
“Su Sui.”
Two voices spoke up simultaneously near her ears one from a police officer handling matters, and the other from Shen Wenshan, who had just finished his statement in another room.
Su Sui stood up and greeted Shen Wenshan before walking over to the police officer.
“Good, you haven’t left yet,” the officer said, taking out several letters from a file and handing them to her. “These are the letters Ms. Su left for you.”
Afterward, he took the remaining two letters and walked towards Shen Jiayan and Shen Wenshan.
Seeing this, Su Sui became very uneasy. Her eyes stared fixedly at the officer, and the hand holding the envelope tightened considerably.
The officer held one letter in each hand and handed them to the two respectively. “And these are for you.”
“There’s one for me too?” Shen Jiayan reached out in surprise.
But the moment she was about to take it, Su Sui rushed forward and snatched it away, “Don’t look at it.”
However, Su Sui overlooked the one in Shen Wenshan’s hand.
“Why can’t I look?” Shen Jiayan looked at her in confusion.
Su Sui, however, looked anxiously at Shen Wenshan, her face turning pale, “Mr. Shen, can you please give me that letter back? It’s my mother’s personal belonging.”
Her voice had lost its usual composure and was trembling slightly.
Shen Wenshan looked at the letter in his hand, his face gloomy, “Reason?”
Shen Jiayan looked at the unusually strange Su Sui and vaguely felt that this reason might be related to her? But why would Mother Su’s letter have anything to do with her?
What exactly was wrong??
Just as the air became extremely bizarre, the police officer standing nearby spoke up, “How about this, you all come with me to the mediation room. Sit down and talk it over slowly.”
He then walked over to Su Sui and tried to take the letter belonging to Shen Jiayan from her hand. Seeing that she was clutching it tightly and refusing to let go, he sighed and said, “That is her right you cannot selfishly make decisions for her.”
With that, he led Shen Wenshan and Shen Jiayan into the mediation room first, leaving Su Sui standing there anxiously.
