No One Else Will Do But You - Chapter 86
Su Jingfeng had returned from the United States. The first thing he did was arrange a meeting with Shu Luo.
Now approaching thirty, Su Jingfeng was in the prime of his life—a successful man exuding mature charm. While he wore suits for work, he opted for a casual look for their meeting. Shu Luo looked at the “uncle” sitting across from him, who seemed to be trying to look younger in a simple knit sweater and leisure jacket.
Su Jingfeng studied Shu Luo with an elegant posture. It had been four years since they had seen each other in person. Shu Luo had grown even more handsome since high school.
Seeing the injury on Shu Luo’s leg, Su Jingfeng frowned. “What happened to your leg?”
“Ugh… it’s a long story,” Shu Luo said, not wanting to explain the leap from the balcony. “I just accidentally twisted it. It’s no big deal now.”
Su Jingfeng didn’t push. Instead, he changed the subject. “So, you and Jiang Mu are together.” It wasn’t a question; it was a statement of fact.
Shu Luo looked up in surprise. “How did you know?”
“Shu Luo, are you serious about this?” Su Jingfeng’s tone was unusually grave.
“We’ve been together for two years,” Shu Luo replied firmly, meeting his eyes. “I’ve made up my mind.”
Su Jingfeng took a sip of his coffee, the smile vanishing from his face. He felt a pang of regret. He had been a natural-born gay man and had felt a “pure” attraction to Shu Luo since the boy was quite young. Now, seeing how much more refined Shu Luo had become, the sense of loss was palpable.
Shu Luo noticed Su Jingfeng’s grim expression and wondered if he was about to launch into a lecture on behalf of his parents.
“Are you sure?” Su Jingfeng asked again.
“Of course. I’m not a casual person.”
Su Jingfeng leaned back, observing the “glow” of someone in love. Shu Luo’s blonde hair made his fair skin stand out even more. “Shu Luo, has anyone else pursued you lately?”
“!” Shu Luo’s eyes widened. “Y-you know?!”
“Hmm.” Su Jingfeng played along, realizing he could bait some information out.
“Don’t tell my brother!” Shu Luo pleaded. “If he finds out, it’s over. Do you have any idea how many people have tried to hit on me?”
“…” How many? Su Jingfeng didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. It made sense; who wouldn’t be attracted to someone like this?
“Don’t you dare use this to blackmail me,” Shu Luo warned.
“It seems your life is quite ‘moist’ while Jiang Mu isn’t around to watch you,” Su Jingfeng teased.
Shu Luo felt a chill. He knew Su Jingfeng and Jiang Mu cooperated in business but had been rivals since middle age. “Brother Feng, you know how my brother is…”
“Let’s not talk about him. Let’s just chat, while he’s still in Canada,” Su Jingfeng interrupted. He looked at Shu Luo and smiled. “You’re a diamond bachelor yourself now. No one you like? Not getting married?”
Su Jingfeng raised an eyebrow, propping his chin on his hand. “Are you worried about me?”
“Of course. You’re like a mentor and a friend to me.”
Mentor and friend. Su Jingfeng sighed internally. That was a very “polite” way to be friend-zoned. “I have no plans for now,” he said lazily.
“But you’re almost thirty! Don’t you want a woman?” Shu Luo asked, wondering if there was something “wrong” with him.
Su Jingfeng reached out and flicked Shu Luo’s forehead. “Ow! What was that for?”
“Stop thinking nonsense.”
“I’m just concerned! You don’t have a girlfriend, so could it be—” Shu Luo stopped, a look of realization dawning on him. Is he an ‘exception’ too? Like me, Jiang Mu, and He Zeming?
Su Jingfeng’s eyes were full of mirth, as if he could read Shu Luo’s mind. He didn’t deny it.
Shu Luo gulped. No way… Su Jingfeng was handsome, gentle, and witty—the perfect type for women.
“Brother Feng, no way…”
Su Jingfeng tapped the table, his lips curling into a smile. “Yes way.”
This is unscientific! Shu Luo chugged his coffee. He realized now that Jiang Mu’s early hostility toward Su Jingfeng wasn’t random; it was the instinct of one predator recognizing another.
“Ha… haha…” Shu Luo’s dry laugh couldn’t hide his shock.
“Are you that surprised?” Su Jingfeng laughed. “At least I’ve actually had a girlfriend before.”
“Why did you break up?”
“Personality clash. She was too assertive.”
“You don’t like assertive types?”
“Someone like you would be best,” Su Jingfeng said, looking directly at him.
“Well, I’m one of a kind,” Shu Luo joked, missing the depth of the comment.
“Ah! Look! There’s ‘Ji-qing’ (gay passion) over there!!”
A hushed, excited voice drifted from two rows away. Shu Luo glanced over to see two girls peeking at them. When he looked, they ducked away immediately.
“Did you see? I took a photo!” Girl A whispered. “That boy is so handsome! And the man sitting across from him—I can tell just from his back he’s gorgeous. Look at how dotingly he pinched his face!”
Girl B clutched her heart. “Do you think they’re a couple?”
“Definitely! Look at the chemistry! So much ‘Ji-qing’~” As a veteran fujoshi, she was living her best life.
Shu Luo felt a shiver despite the heater. The “predatory” look in those girls’ eyes was terrifying. “Let’s go,” he said to Su Jingfeng. “Want to see my company?” Su Jingfeng offered.
“Yes, let’s go!” Anywhere was better than staying under that intense gaze.
As they rose, the girls gasped. They match so well! They watched as the two entered a black Maserati.
They arrived at the West District branch of Su’s company.
“Hello, President Su!” the receptionist stammered, shocked by his sudden arrival—and the handsome guest he brought.
“This is Young Master Shu,” Su Jingfeng told the staff. “If he comes to see me, let him up immediately.”
The female employees nodded vigorously. They were tired of looking at the “tech guys” in the office; Shu Luo was a breath of fresh air.
“That title sounds a bit bureaucratic,” Shu Luo whispered. “I’m a low-profile person.”
Su Jingfeng laughed and put an arm around Shu Luo’s shoulder to help him walk. “You really are different from everyone else.” Low-profile but dazzling.
As they walked away, the employees snapped photos of their backs. “See? That’s why President Su doesn’t have a girlfriend! Look at that shoulder-hug! It’s ‘Ji-qing’!”
“Is that the ‘Young Master Shu’ from the Vinson Group?”
“Not sure, but he’s so cute! A total ‘Little Fresh Meat’!”
In Canada, Jiang Mu was still completely unaware that Su Jingfeng had found an opening and taken his “precious” out for a spin.
