No One Else Will Do But You - Chapter 58
It was originally decided that Shu Luo would only be observed for two weeks, but he ended up staying for a full month.
He was practically molding after staying in the hospital for about a month. All necessary checks had been done. Thankfully, the dosage of the hallucinogen wasn’t large; it only caused a few days of unpleasant hallucinations, which he eventually resisted and began to firmly believe were illusions. The wound on the back of his head required a long observation period due to the intense impact of the glass bottle, which caused a concussion and intracranial hemorrhage. Fortunately, the hematoma had cleared, and his body was largely fine.
“If you experience a heavy, sinking pain in the back of your head, it’s normal. Don’t worry. Have your family help you apply a hot compress with a warm towel for a few moments,” the doctor instructed.
Jiang Mu listened attentively, looking as careful as possible.
Shu Luo stifled a laugh (^O^).
Then he went back to pack his clothes.
Jiang Mu naturally took on the role of the devoted partner, tidying his belongings. While throwing out trash, he accidentally glimpsed the torn clothes still sitting in the bin, and his eyes darkened.
“Brother, could you hand me a tissue? I spilled grape juice on my shirt.”
Hearing the sound, Jiang Mu turned his head. Shu Luo, who had recovered very well, even had his complexion restored to its usual rosy fairness. The lips stained red by the grape juice gave Jiang Mu an impulse to kiss him until he stopped.
Indeed, that is what he did.
He fiercely kissed Shu Luo’s red lips, using such force that he seemed intent on consuming the person whole.
Shu Luo’s eyes widened in surprise. He was still holding grapes!
“Remember to close your eyes when kissing, so it doesn’t always feel like I’m forcing you.”
Shu Luo: “…” Wasn’t that always the case? When did he ever have time to prepare?
Bang!
The sound of something dropping on the floor came from the doorway.
Shu Luo looked at the doorway in surprise: “Dad…”
As a traditional man, and also a highly educated one, the moment Shu Luo’s father realized his child was homosexual, his world crumbled.
But at the same time, because he was a man, he didn’t succumb to emotional outbursts easily like a woman. It was just, what should he do about this?
Both Shu Luo and Jiang Mu were dear to him.
“Explain yourselves. What is going on?”
…
The atmosphere was incredibly strange.
Shu Luo nervously looked at Jiang Mu. Jiang Mu patted the back of his hand, signaling him to remain calm.
This single gesture earned a glare from Shu Luo’s father, forcing Jiang Mu to quietly withdraw his hand.
Then, Jiang Mu slowly recounted how everything had happened.
How could this be?!
Shu Luo’s father simply could not comprehend how such a relationship, between two people of the same sex, could even begin.
“Dad, it must be because you paid too little attention to me when I was little. The fatherly love I lacked, I had to find in Brother.”
Shu Luo’s father: “…” So, it’s his fault?
Jiang Mu: “…” He lacked fatherly love and looked to him?
Regardless, Shu Luo’s father absolutely could not agree.
“The best thing is for you two to break up. You’re still young; this is just a passing novelty. Especially you, A Mu. When you are older and your company develops faster, you will inevitably interact with all kinds of women. Then you’ll realize the beauty of women. You probably can’t appreciate it now.”
He was trying to break up the couple this quickly? Why did it feel so underwhelming?
“Dad, you’re trying to deprive me of my right to pursue happiness!” Shu Luo pointed at his father.
Shu Luo’s father pressed his son’s finger down: “Luo Luo, your father is doing this for your own good. How many people in this society accept you? It will be very difficult for you to walk this path.”
“All we want is the blessing of our family. We don’t care about anyone else.”
Shu Luo’s father looked at Jiang Mu and couldn’t help but sigh. Why wasn’t his elder son a daughter? What a pity. He had watched Jiang Mu grow up; how could he not feel a loss? The pity was just that his son wasn’t a daughter.
“It won’t work. Your mother and grandmother definitely won’t agree. Don’t even think about it; break up now while you can. Also, Luo Luo, you are currently living in the apartment with A Mu, right? Move out. If you don’t want to live in the dorms, your father will arrange for someone to drive you to school every day. We don’t lack people to drive you.”
Shu Luo’s father usually presented a gentle demeanor. This was the first time Shu Luo had seen him so severe.
This time, it truly marked the most difficult beginning for them.
The atmosphere was incredibly awkward.
“Godfather, I truly love Shu Luo.”
Shu Luo’s father didn’t know where to put his old face; it was terribly awkward. His godson suddenly confessed his love for his son. How was he supposed to handle this?
“A Mu, no matter how much you love him, you must be rational, mustn’t you? Think about your family. Your future is destined to be that of a Count. Will you just abandon Luo Luo then? It’s impossible. This won’t last. You are too young. Love isn’t so simple to define. Besides, A Mu, you are definitely expected to marry.”
Shu Luo pursed his lips, wondering what to think, his gaze fixed outside the window.
This matter was inevitably discovered. There was no point in hiding it anymore; being found out was only a matter of time. Even if it wasn’t discovered now, their every action would eventually reveal a flaw.
So, what should they do?
“Give me time. I will handle everything in France and ensure that Shu Luo is not mistreated or wronged. Godfather, please give me this chance. I know you are definitely not an old-fashioned person.”
Jiang Mu’s attitude was so sincere that Shu Luo’s father almost believed him.
Shu Luo’s father had to maintain his guard: “No. This isn’t something you can decide on your own! We may not know much about your family, but they are nobility, aren’t they?”
“And I’m here, too.” Carlo walked in, smiling, and locked the door behind him.
Shu Luo’s father looked at him suspiciously: “You must have known already?”
“Of course. I am Nelsen’s trustworthy father.”
That self-proclaimed title… made Shu Luo’s father glance at Shu Luo. This son of his was beyond keeping! It implied that he wasn’t trustworthy.
“Still no. No matter how I look at it, my Luo Luo is getting the short end of the stick. It’s too impractical.” He needed a solid reason to win.
Shu Luo stood silently watching. If the persuasion failed, the worst that could happen was a beating or being grounded for a few days.
Jiang Mu stroked Shu Luo’s hair, signaling him not to worry.
Shu Luo held his hand, gripping it tightly.
That was enough.
Jiang Mu lightly smiled. He could overcome anything. He had confidence.
Shu Luo’s father sternly watched their unreserved actions. He was already being extremely patient talking to them politely. If their mother found out, the consequences would be unimaginable.
Carlo smiled and patted Shu Luo’s father’s shoulder: “Man, relax! Be open-minded! How can we, as fathers, block our children’s happiness?”
Shu Luo’s father gave him an unfriendly look: “Open-minded? Your wife probably ran away because you were too open-minded.”
Carlo: “…” Why be so blunt? How annoying (>3<).
Shu Luo’s father continued: “I am a traditional man. I like the traditional family structure of one man and one woman. I will not agree no matter what you say. Shu Luo, come home with me now. Go back to your own home!” He stressed the last part heavily.
Reluctantly, Shu Luo had to compromise for the time being. He was his father, after all. Besides, there was plenty of time.
He smiled at Jiang Mu, then prepared to follow his father out.
However, without any warning, Jiang Mu pulled him back, lowered his head, and kissed him.
Shu Luo’s father’s face turned completely black. Was he invisible to them?!
“Shu Luo! If you don’t leave now, I’ll make you sleep on the balcony!”
Shu Luo quickly followed: “Dad, why are you being so cruel? Your son barely survived after being abused.”
Shu Luo’s father stopped, his expression sinking. Why did this child have to bring up that subject, of all things? It was already something he regretted fiercely, and bringing it up again made him feel even worse.
“From now on, I’ll assign you bodyguards—front, back, left, and right!”
Oh, so he was going to live a high-profile life for real!
“Dad, didn’t you tell me to live a low-profile life?”
“I’m so rich all I have left is money! What’s wrong with being high-profile now?”
“What if I get kidnapped again?”
“Don’t worry, I’ll bring you back even if it bankrupts me!”
The gritted voice made Shu Luo smile smugly. Haha. He would manage to sort things out eventually.
Jiang Mu stayed in the ward, packing Shu Luo’s clothes that were left behind. Of course, he would take them back to the apartment. If they couldn’t see each other for a while, he could only look at objects and miss the person.
“Nelsen, don’t give up.”
Jiang Mu lightly smiled: “Of course. This is only a matter of time.”
“However, the old Count will likely be very difficult. You should know, your grandfather is an absolutely traditional man. The rules he has followed all his life will not change.”
“I will find a way.”
