No One Else Will Do But You - Chapter 31
“Hey, Brother, what do you think of me looking like this?” Shu Luo curiously adjusted his clothes and flashed a brilliant smile.
For a girl, this kind of smile had the greatest impact.
Jiang Mu pressed down on his restless shoulder, leaning in to whisper, “Yes, I want to find someone just like you.”
This pose was also captured by Huang Wen Yu. Haha, a moment worth remembering!
“Really? What type am I? The Snow White type?” Shu Luo looked amusedly at himself in the mirror and at Jiang Mu behind him in the reflection.
“No, the cheerful, sunny, one who throws tantrums, bullies the weak but fears the strong, is filial, and has drive.”
Shu Luo: “…” What kind of type is that? Why does it sound so familiar?
“Wow, wow, wow, look! Shu Luo is over there!”
You didn’t need to look to know who that loud voice belonged to. What was Wang Kai trying to do?!
Wang Kai focused his gaze. Although his demeanor seemed frivolous, the astonishment in his eyes was undeniable.
“Shu Luo, you’ve become the ‘big beauty’ of our dorm. Makeup really does make you pretty. Let your big brother have a look.” He made a move to grab Shu Luo’s hand.
Shu Luo immediately hid behind Jiang Mu, just poking his head out and glaring fiercely at Wang Kai.
“Get lost, I’m busy.”
Wang Kai looked at Shu Luo, who looked cute despite trying to be menacing, and felt a tickle in his heart.
“Why are you so stingy?” But with the great god Jiang Mu standing there, it was hard to act.
Li Zi Xin pushed up his glasses and looked at Shu Luo. “Hmm… Shu Luo, there’s absolutely no sense of incongruity. It really suits you.”
“…” What do you mean it suits me? How could it suit me?!
Jiang Mu raised his hand and rubbed his hair. “It is quite suitable.” But I don’t want others to see it.
Huang Wen Yu walked in, smiling and shaking the camera in her hand. “Haha, I took pictures of you guys.”
“Really, really? I want to see them.” Shu Luo walked over curiously.
“Hey, wait a minute. I have conditions. These photos are so precious, it’s hard to bribe me, you know.”
Shu Luo gave her a look of disdain. “This little chick is getting cocky. I don’t want to see them.” He turned as if to walk away.
Unexpectedly, Huang Wen Yu playfully gave him a strong shove from behind. Shu Luo’s eyes widened in fright.
Luckily, Jiang Mu was right in front of him and immediately reached out to catch him.
Huang Wen Yu instantly picked up her camera and snapped a few more photos, then smiled proudly again.
Jiang Mu helped him stand straight and asked gently, “Are you alright?”
“No! Huang Wen Yu, I’m not finished with you!” Shu Luo said, striding towards Huang Wen Yu.
Huang Wen Yu wasn’t afraid of him. She had a flash of inspiration and quietly ran behind Jiang Mu to whisper.
“Jiang Mu, I’ll give you the photos. Will you promise me something?”
“Yes.”
He had already felt someone taking pictures earlier in the dressing room. These photos, he would want.
“Then tutor me.”
“Yes.”
Huang Wen Yu, having reached an agreement, proudly held up the camera to Shu Luo and received Jiang Mu’s temporary protection.
Shu Luo didn’t know what they talked about, but he was very annoyed.
“Oh, my little girl, don’t be angry. Let me rub your chest.” Wang Kai took the opportunity to sidle up to Shu Luo and reached out to pat his chest.
Shu Luo rolled his eyes at him. “What are you doing? Taking advantage of me! Get away!”
“Heh, your temper is quite something in a dress, but I like it.” Wang Kai put his arm around Shu Luo’s shoulder.
Jiang Mu’s eyes darkened, but he gave no outward sign.
“Alright, someone might need this space soon. Jiang Mu, hurry up and change.”
Jiang Mu took his clothes and walked into the dressing room.
A moment later, the dressing room door opened.
The English aristocratic-style clothing perfectly highlighted Jiang Mu’s aura. The cold aloofness when he didn’t smile, and his indifferent gaze, gave people a feeling of irresistible pressure and a reluctance to look directly at him.
“Brother, I like these clothes.” Shu Luo immediately walked to his side and reached out to touch them.
His eyes clearly softened when he looked at Shu Luo.
Huang Wen Yu, being a girl, could sense this subtle change and quickly picked up her camera to take pictures again.
“Is that so?” Although his tone was light, it wasn’t hard to hear a hint of pleasure.
Zhang Ling walked in and was slightly surprised to see Shu Luo and Jiang Mu.
“Oh, they truly are the perfect Princess and Prince! One is beautiful, the other is handsome. Jiang Mu, you should actually consider modeling. Your figure and appearance are both very suitable.”
Jiang Mu only smiled. Modeling… he’d probably be buried alive by Ka Suo.
The performance before them seemed incredibly exciting, with constant applause, making the classes waiting backstage a bit nervous.
“Hey, Brother, do you think our performance will succeed?”
“Why? Don’t you believe in yourself?”
Shu Luo shook his head. “No, it’s not that. I’ve worked so hard for so long, I don’t want to have no reward at all. Even a little sense of accomplishment would be nice.”
“Don’t forget the lyrics later. Look them over again.”
“Hey, there are only two or three lines of lyrics. I remember them. Don’t worry.” The difficult part was that he had to use a softer vocal tone. Fortunately, his voice break was relatively late, and his voice was still quite clear and crisp.
Jiang Mu didn’t speak again, but his mind was no longer on the script, but on the kiss scene later. It made him… restless, like a beast long confined, ready to spring.
The performance before them was a comedy skit. Once they finished, it would be their turn to go on stage.
Huang Wen Yu handed a bottle of water to Jiang Mu. “Jiang Mu, your narration lines are all set, right? You’ll start us off.”
Jiang Mu nodded.
“And Shu Luo, you’ll be coming out soon, too. Adjust your state!”
Shu Luo nodded.
“Everyone, don’t relax! The class teacher is probably about to arrive.”
“I’m here, I’m here.” No sooner had the words faded than the class teacher appeared.
He was surprised when he saw Snow White. Oh my, truly beautiful! Tsk, tsk, tsk… unlimited potential!
Shu Luo saw the teacher’s astonished look but didn’t feel happy. Who would be happy about being complimented for being a beautiful boy cross-dresser?
“Shu Luo, the teacher is looking forward to you being a sensation. We’re counting on you!” The class teacher patted his shoulder.
“Okay.” He gave a forced smile, thinking, How could it not be a sensation? A man dressed as a woman.
“Alright, this skit from Class 7, Grade 11, truly conveyed positive and healthy energy, teaching us to treat those around us kindly and to learn to enjoy helping others. Next, let’s welcome Class 5, Grade 10, for their musical scenario play, ‘Snow White’s Revenge Plan’! Performers: Shu Luo, Jiang Mu, and others. A round of applause, please!”
The host had already announced the program name.
Shu Luo swallowed hard, his heart rate accelerating slightly.
“Relax. I’m here.”
He looked up into Jiang Mu’s eyes and slowly calmed down.
Shu Luo’s parents had also already taken their seats in the parents’ section, waiting for the performance to begin.
The lights dimmed, and the music of Broadway began.
“Snow White was born into this world with the most beautiful meaning. She is beautiful and kind.”
The magnetic and enchanting voice echoed through the hall, seemingly like a mesmerizing abyss, drawing people in and making them want to jump down.
Snow White gracefully walked onto the stage, holding her skirt. Her beautiful face, bright eyes, and brilliant smile made many students in the audience wonder who this “girl” was.
Shu Mama initially guessed, because this “girl” looked incredibly familiar. Even Shu Dad felt the same way.
“Snow White lived happily in the palace, with a King and Queen who loved her. One day, the Queen passed away.”
Snow White cried, collapsing by the bedside, looking at her deceased mother.
Choking back tears, she began to sing in a clear voice, recounting her happy life and the pain after her mother’s death.
Shu Mama finally recognized it. “Honey, isn’t that Luo Luo’s voice? He, he, he is Snow White?!”
“Probably… yes. Luo Luo’s voice can’t be mistaken.”
At this moment, the stage lighting became darker.
“The King, wanting Snow White to stop grieving, married a new Queen. Unfortunately, she was a wicked Queen who attempted to murder the Princess.”
The Queen, dressed in a black and purple lace gown, sneered, “Magic Mirror, Magic Mirror, I heard you were recently running a pyramid scheme?”
The Magic Mirror appeared, which was a boy wearing a floral wreath. Many people in the audience started to laugh.
“Queen, it seems you already know. Yes, I’m currently running a big project: beauty care.”
“Oh? Then take a look at me. How is my posture?” The Queen confidently posed with a delicate, bent finger on her hip, looking graceful and alluring.
The Magic Mirror laughed. “Naturally, you are beautiful, but not as beautiful as Snow White. Snow White is the fairest of all.”
“What! How dare you speak to me that way! Who are you working for? Do you believe I’ll shut down your organization!”
The Magic Mirror quickly knelt. “No, Queen, every word I say is true. I rely on Snow White to bring in customers, otherwise, I’d have no business!”
“Hmph! Is that so? I have a way.”
The magnetic voice from the side continued the narration: “The Wicked Queen hired a killer to assassinate Snow White. However, the killer, seeing how kind and beautiful Snow White was, couldn’t bring himself to do it and let her go. Snow White got lost in the forest and happened upon a small house. She walked inside. Seeing food, and being hungry, she ate and then, feeling tired, pushed the small beds together and rested for a while.”
Snow White yawned and fell asleep after eating her fill.
“The Dwarfs were shocked when they returned home. Their things had been touched, there were signs of movement, and the bedroom door was ajar.”
Music started, and the Dwarfs began to sing.
“What has happened? Why is everything a mess? Could it be someone came in to take everything we own…” The Dwarfs held hands and walked around the house once, singing emotionally with an operatic effect.
“Later, they learned about Snow White and decided to protect her.
The Dwarfs gathered around Snow White, often singing and dancing, teaching her how to resist strangers from outside. They lived a very happy life. However, one day, the Queen disguised herself as an old woman selling combs.”
Knock, knock, knock—
A knock came at the door.
“Who is it?” Snow White seemed utterly defenseless.
“Beautiful maiden, do you need to buy a comb? It’s perfect for your lovely hair.”
“Snow White frowned, thinking the situation was strange. This old woman had never seen her before, so how did she know she was beautiful? Snow White opened the door, looking puzzled.”
“Oh my, you truly are beautiful. This comb is perfect for you.”
Snow White took the comb. Girls can never resist such things, so she picked it up and combed her hair.
“As a result, Snow White collapsed. Without the protection of the Dwarfs, she fell. The Wicked Queen laughed loudly and left, feeling extremely pleased.”
“Oh dear, my beautiful Princess, what is wrong? Oh no!” The Dwarfs returned home to find the Princess lying on the floor. But no matter how much they called out, it was no use. What on earth had happened?
The heartbroken Dwarfs commissioned a crystal coffin and placed Snow White inside. The beautiful Snow White looked as if she were merely sleeping, her lips still rosy, her complexion vibrant.
“What has happened?”
A pleasant male voice rang out. Some might realize that this voice was very similar to the narrator’s voice.
Stepping forward with elegant strides, people’s attention fell on his long legs, and then on his appearance.
He looked handsome and aloof, his brown eyes fixed on the crystal coffin. Upon seeing the person inside the coffin, a certain color flashed in his eyes—a feeling of regret at meeting her so late.
“Dear Prince of the neighboring kingdom, our Snow White has suffered a misfortune. We are helpless now and preparing to bury her. But our Princess is still so beautiful, she doesn’t look like she’s gone at all. We can’t bear it!”
The Prince reached out to gently stroke that still-beautiful face. The cool touch made his fingertips tremble, and his heart ached from the cold. It shouldn’t be this way. This beautiful person, the one who made him fall in love at first sight.
Involuntarily, he leaned down and kissed her gently.
“Trust me,” Jiang Mu whispered as he leaned down.
The audience seemed to freeze at this scene, which was beautifully unreal. Everyone held their breath, not wanting to spoil the moment, and anticipating the instant the Princess would open her eyes.
The warm, cool sensation, the moment their lips lightly touched, something began to sprout in both their hearts, silently and unnoticed.
Jiang Mu’s heart rate was probably only audible to himself. The sound of his heart beating echoed in his ears, clearly reminding him, making him savor this shy, beautiful feeling.
Shu Luo’s eyelashes trembled with nervousness, but when he heard Jiang Mu whisper, “Trust me,” his heart seemed to slowly calm down. When the kiss finally happened, it was different from what he expected: no rejection, no disgust, just a feeling of acceptance. Moreover, he seemed to feel Jiang Mu’s tenderness.
The intertwining of their breaths was filled with gentleness. The atmosphere was beautiful and something to cherish.
Snow White slowly opened her eyes.
At that moment, their eyes met.
In the shadows, something seemed to be breaking free from its restraints, something was cracking its shell, something was emerging from a cocoon.
The turmoil in their eyes held too much emotion.
“You’re awake?” The question was filled with surprise, yet spoken very casually, like asking if someone had just woken up.
Snow White looked at the Prince before her in astonishment. What a handsome Prince. A feeling of deep affection arose.
However, Snow White waking up was not the end. The real ending was solving the problem of the Wicked Queen and having the King divorce this terrifying Queen.
Music played as they discussed a solution.
To the side, a light came on, and the Queen walked out.
“I heard the Princess isn’t dead?!”
The Magic Mirror nodded. “Queen, it seems you didn’t use the pyramid scheme method I gave you—to cross-sell a few more items to Snow White, fighting poison with poison.”
“Hmph! What kind of terrible idea is that? It didn’t even…”
Before she could finish, the palace doors were shoved open violently.
The area was surrounded by soldiers.
“Queen, oh Queen, I truly didn’t expect you to be the hidden investor behind that pyramid scheme organization! That truly shocks me! Guards, arrest the Queen and remove her crown!”
The plot moved very quickly from this point, swiftly resolving the issue of the Queen, followed by the love story between Snow White and the Prince.
Fairy tales are naturally romantic, and the ending is, of course, entirely happy.
The Princess and the Prince lived happily ever after.
Ten minutes, perfectly concluded.
It was a very simple musical scenario play, with not much dialogue, yet it left a deep impression on everyone.
Clap, clap, clap…
The applause was exceptionally enthusiastic.
The people on stage bowed to the audience and exited the stage.
“Very good, very good, you all performed exceptionally well.” The class teacher nodded in satisfaction, then looked at Shu Luo. “You played the part very well, very naturally. Excellent, excellent.”
Shu Luo smiled happily, his eyes crinkling, the dimples at the corners of his mouth faintly visible.
“Class Monitor, your power is immense.” Huang Zihui pointed at his appearance. “The Class Monitor’s cross-dressing is in no way inferior to any girl. You could even run for ‘Class Beauty’.”
“Get lost, get lost! Your big brother is a pure man!” Shu Luo kicked at him.
“Watch your image, Princess,” Huang Wen Yu teased, pointing at his skirt.
Shu Luo pouted and silently walked over to Jiang Mu. “Why didn’t you help me? I can’t fight them all by myself.”
“Be good. Don’t argue with them,” Jiang Mu said softly, rubbing his head.
The backstage area was noisy. Jiang Mu spoke very quietly, and few people heard him. Shu Luo only heard it because he was standing right beside him.
However, it was possible to see the mouth shapes.
Huang Wen Yu heard it.
