No One Else Will Do But You - Chapter 13
The two families booked a six-day tour of Thailand for the boys.
Shu’s mom even gave him a list of things to buy. This was a heavy task.
“A Mu, do you think we’ll see ladyboys in Thailand?”
Jiang Mu said he didn’t know. “It’s a tour group. We’ll see whatever they take us to see.”
The two boys didn’t have much luggage. Each of them had a single suitcase.
They said goodbye to their mothers before boarding and set off with happy hearts.
The flight was only a little over three hours, so the time passed by quickly.
As the plane flew through the sky, surrounded by white clouds, Shu Luo’s face was already pressed against the window. When he was a child, he had flown to the US. His maternal grandmother lived abroad, and every time he went, the memory was very clear. He had a special feeling for the sky.
Jiang Mu’s gaze couldn’t help but linger on Shu Luo, who was mesmerized by the view outside the window. Time didn’t seem to pass slowly at all.
“A Mu, do you like flying?” Shu Luo turned his face and asked.
Jiang Mu shook his head. “I don’t.”
“Why? Do you get airsick?”
“No, a plane is just a mode of transportation. There’s nothing special about it.”
Shu Luo pouted. “I haven’t flown many times, but every time I do, the memory is very vivid. Do you think I could be a pilot?”
“…” There’s no way to answer a question like that. He doesn’t have the potential to fly.
Seeing that Jiang Mu had no intention of answering, Shu Luo took out a travel guide to look at the sights in Thailand.
Pattaya, Thailand, is known for its sun, beaches, and seafood. The beautiful seascapes, interesting amusement parks, and the most famous ladyboy shows, along with its colorful nightlife, attract tourists from all over the world.
It was very lively and crowded. During the tourist season, Shu Luo saw in the travel guide that the ladyboy show was very famous and thought it would be nice to have more time to play if they didn’t have to follow the tour group’s schedule.
And so, his wish came true.
It was already 2:40 in the afternoon.
They had gotten lost from the tour group.
Jiang Mu was speechless, looking at Shu Luo, who was excited and running around everywhere as soon as they got off the plane. There were so many tour groups at the airport. It seemed they had no choice but to call.
Sigh, I have to get a local SIM card first.
Jiang Mu looked at Shu Luo helplessly. He wasn’t supposed to have to deal with these things, but now he had to do it himself.
International roaming fees were expensive, but since they were already here, he had to call his family. After that, he had to call the tour group, but he thought about it and decided to let Shu Luo and himself play for a while and go back to the hotel at night.
Shu Luo watched Jiang Mu make the call to the tour group and could only look around for something fun to do.
“Hey, Jiang Mu, I want to go look over there. I’ll be right back.” Shu Luo said from behind Jiang Mu.
Jiang Mu was listening to the tour guide’s instructions and the time to meet at the hotel, so he didn’t quite hear what Shu Luo said and just casually nodded.
Shu Luo saw a group of people gathered nearby and, out of curiosity, squeezed in to see what was going on.
There were many tourists here from all over the world, with different skin colors.
Shu Luo looked at the Black man next to him, who was watching with great interest. Then he shifted his attention to the performance in front of him.
(⊙o⊙)!!
How… how open-minded.
Several women were wearing bikinis and doing a sexy dance. No wonder so many people were gathered here. The eyes of the Black man next to him were glued to the stage.
“Hey, boy, are you here for the show, too? Are you an adult?”
The Black man spoke in American English, and Shu Luo understood the general gist.
“I’m here for the show, but I’m not an adult.”
The Black man smirked. “This is a ladyboy show.”
Shemale?!
Shu Luo looked at the “women” performing in surprise. They looked no different from women, and their looks were outstanding.
The Black man saw that Shu Luo was fair-skinned and looked like a student, so he was very curious. “You look very young. Are you interested in this? Don’t Asians usually have a more reserved mindset? Hey, it looks like that’s not always the case.”
“…” He spoke too fast, and Shu Luo couldn’t understand everything, so he could only give an awkward smile.
“My name is Luis. I’m from New York, USA, and I’m 18 this year. What about you?”
Shu Luo listened to his self-introduction and thought, Finally, something I can talk about. “My name is Shu Luo. I’m from S City, China, and I’m 14 years old. It’s nice to meet you. You’re so tall!”
Luis smiled, revealing his clean teeth. “192 centimeters. I’m a basketball player.”
Shu Luo walked around him in curiosity, no longer paying attention to the performance. The two of them moved away from the crowd and started chatting.
Although Shu Luo’s spoken English wasn’t great and he spoke with stutters, Luis listened to him patiently and corrected his mistakes.
“Luis, next time you come to S City, China, I’ll definitely take you around.”
“That’s great. Chinese people are very hospitable. I’ve been to China once before.”
Shu Luo and Luis were so engrossed in their conversation that they completely forgot about Jiang Mu.
Jiang Mu had just hung up the phone and turned around to find that Shu Luo was gone. He suddenly panicked. This was Thailand. It was a foreign place, and Pattaya was a bit of a messy place.
“Luo Luo, Shu Luo!” He anxiously looked for him everywhere.
Shu Luo didn’t have his phone or wallet on him. Everything was with Jiang Mu.
A passing police officer saw how anxious he was and went up to ask if he needed help.
“Sir, can I help you with anything?” he asked in English.
Jiang Mu gestured to describe Shu Luo’s appearance and clothes.
The police officer nodded and had a few people search the area.
“Hey, A Mu, I’m over here!”
Shu Luo’s voice suddenly came from behind him. Jiang Mu immediately turned around and saw Shu Luo’s excited face. He didn’t know where to direct his anger.
“Where did you go? Don’t you know you’re not supposed to run around in a foreign country? I almost couldn’t find you!”
Jiang Mu went up and hugged him, sighing helplessly into Shu Luo’s ear.
Shu Luo was puzzled and patted his back. “I just told you I was going, and you nodded. That’s why I went. Plus, I made a new friend. Look!”
Shu Luo came out of his arms and waved at Luis.
“Luis, this is Jiang Mu. He’s half-Chinese and half-French. He’s my best friend.”
Luis extended his hand to Jiang Mu. “It’s nice to meet you. I love making friends. Shu Luo is so cute. I like him a lot.”
You don’t have to like him…
Jiang Mu mumbled in his head, but since they were outside, he still smiled politely. “It’s nice to meet you, too.”
Shu Luo thought Jiang Mu liked Luis, too, so he said, “How about we hang out together? We’ll go to the hotel soon anyway. We can eat together later.”
Jiang Mu raised an eyebrow. Could he refuse now?
Luis also looked very happy. “That’s great. I came here alone, and now I can make friends. I’m so happy.”
I’m not happy.
But he also didn’t want to ruin Shu Luo’s fun.
Shu Luo looked at Jiang Mu, who forced a smile, but Shu Luo couldn’t tell that it was forced.
So, the group of two carefree people and one sad person was formed.
“Luis, did you get so tall from playing basketball?”
“Yeah. I was very short when I was little. After my mom sent me to a sports school to train, I grew 16 centimeters in one year.”
16 centimeters…
Shu Luo swallowed. Even half of that would be great.
Jiang Mu seemed to read his thoughts and reached out to ruffle his hair. “It would be terrifying if you grew that tall. Luis is from a Western country. It’s normal for him to be tall.”
What do you mean it would be terrifying if I grew that tall?!
Shu Luo narrowed his eyes and looked at Jiang Mu. “Aren’t you also half-Western? How come he’s so much taller?”
“I’m only 16. I’ll grow in high school. I’m already almost 5’11”. It would be a little scary if I grew 16 centimeters in one year like Luis.”
Shu Luo thought about it and agreed. It would be too scary.
Luis didn’t understand Chinese and had no idea what they were saying, so he looked at them with envy. “Jiang Mu, did you grow up in China? You can talk to Shu Luo without any problems.”
“No, I grew up in France, but my mom spoke Chinese to me from a young age. I didn’t have many opportunities to speak French. I spoke English more.”
Luis still looked envious. “I have classmates who are learning Chinese. A lot of people are learning Chinese now.”
Shu Luo smiled proudly. “Of course. China will only get stronger!”
