My Wife's Ears Are Fuzzy - Chapter 6
Chapter 6
Early the next morning, Tu Yiyi returned from her run. After finishing a massive breakfast, the first thing she did was tell Zhuo Jin to buy her a phone, get a lucky number, and open a bank account.
“Do I have an ID?” she asked.
Zhuo Jin answered respectfully, “Yes, Miss. Besides your ID, you have your academic certificates—you have a bachelor’s degree in English—and a driver’s license. They are all here.” He added, “Miss, although you have Jian Lei as your professional driver, it’s best if you learn to drive yourself, just in case.”
Yiyi didn’t mind learning. She noticed Zhuo Jin wasn’t leaving and asked, “Why aren’t you heading into the city yet?”
“Miss, the shops here don’t open until nine or even ten in the morning.”
Tu Yiyi was speechless. Ten?! People here are so lazy!
“Fine, let’s practice driving then.”
There were two cars in the garage. One was a red Ferrari—Master Tu said its shape reminded him of a red fox’s tail, which felt familiar. The other was a black Rolls-Royce Cullinan. Master Tu said it was for her to stroll around in—casual.
Tu Yiyi practiced in the Cullinan. The Spirit of Ecstasy ornament glowed brilliantly under the sunlight. With Jian Lei in the passenger seat and Zhuo Jin guiding from the grass, Yiyi took to it immediately. After three laps around the Royal Palace perimeter and an hour of practice, she was driving with ease.
“Miss, you’re a natural! A mortal would need seventy or eighty hours to learn this,” Jian Lei flattered her.
“Of course. The coordination of a Tushan Spirit Fox isn’t something humans can compare to.”
Zhuo Jin produced a book. “Miss, even though you can park and reverse now, you should look over the theory for the ‘Subject One’ exam. The streets are full of lights and cameras. If you don’t know the rules, your license will be gone in no time.”
Yiyi flipped through the book. With her photographic memory, she memorized everything in thirty minutes. By then, Zhuo Jin had returned with the latest iPhone. While Yiyi was happily playing with Siri, she spotted her neighbor, Gu Xiaofeng, leaving her house.
Today, Gu Xiaofeng wore a white shirt, jeans, and sunglasses. Yiyi immediately messaged Zhuo Jin: Get me two pairs of sunglasses. Exactly like the ones Gu Cao-cao is wearing.
Overnight, Yiyi had researched her neighbor. It was easy—the internet was flooded with her photos. She learned that her neighbor was a world-famous, top-tier international movie star. In Yiyi’s mind, she was “Fang Cao” the character she cried over, so she nicknamed her “Gu Cao-cao” Gu Grass-grass.
Outside the gates, a black Mercedes was waiting for Gu Xiaofeng. Suddenly, a red Porsche screeched to a halt in front of her. A flashy, weak-looking man stepped out. Even from a distance, Yiyi could smell his “musk.”
Good grief, Yiyi thought, this guy’s mind is entirely focused on mating.
The man, Xu Yanzhe, began arguing with Gu Xiaofeng, grabbing her arm and trying to pull her toward his Porsche. Gu Xiaofeng’s driver tried to intervene, but Xu was relentless.
Seeing “Cao-cao” in trouble, Tu Yiyi floored the gas. The Cullinan roared out and screeched to a stop beside them.
“Cao-cao, what’s wrong?” Yiyi stuck her head out and glared at Xu. “Where did this little thief come from? Trying to kidnap a lady in broad daylight?!”
All three were stunned. Xu Yanzhe was about to snap, but seeing Yiyi was a stunning beauty, he tried to keep his “image.” “This is between me and my girlfriend. What’s it to you?”
“I’ll say it one more time,” Gu Xiaofeng said coldly. “I am not your girlfriend.”
Xu Yanzhe persisted, blocking her path to her Mercedes. “Are you going to Tang Huan? I’ll drive you.”
“No need!” Gu Xiaofeng turned, yanked open the door of the Rolls-Royce, and sat in the passenger seat. She gave Yiyi a charming, melting look. “Yiyi, would you mind giving me a lift?”
Her voice was so soft and alluring that Yiyi actually shivered. Is this my pure, innocent Grass?
Being a helpful child of Tushan, Yiyi nodded. “Of course. Happy to be of service.”
Furious, Xu Yanzhe kicked the Rolls-Royce’s door. “Get out of the car!”
Yiyi smiled coldly and secretly channeled her spiritual power.
Thud! There was a moment of silence before Xu Yanzhe clutched his foot, howling in pain. “Ow! It’s broken! My foot is broken!”
The car door remained perfectly pristine, shining in the sun. Yiyi leaned out, looking innocent. “Oh, I forgot to tell you. My car has ‘copper skin and iron bones.’ It doesn’t like being kicked.” She turned to Gu Xiaofeng. “Cao-cao, do you know an orthopedic surgeon? You should introduce him.”
Gu Xiaofeng couldn’t hold it back—a small, charming smile escaped her lips.
As Yiyi drove off, Zhuo Jin and Jian Lei scrambled into the Ferrari to follow her. “Miss is driving on the road for the first time! Keep up!”
Inside the car, Gu Xiaofeng thanked her. Tu Yiyi was focused; the road was packed with cars and lights. It was frustrating.
“Where to, Cao-cao?”
Gu Xiaofeng checked her seatbelt. “Miss Tu, I’m not in a hurry. You can slow down.”
“I’m not going fast,” Yiyi replied, glancing at her. “The limit is 80; I’m staying at 79.”
“You… follow the rules very strictly.”
“Of course! I’m aiming for a perfect score. See? I only overtake when the conditions are right. If they aren’t, I create the conditions.”
“To Tang Huan Entertainment, 18 Coastal Boulevard.”
“Understood. I shall deliver you safely, steadily, and efficiently.” Yiyi picked up her phone and smiled at it. “Siri, my little darling, open the map for me. Mwah.”
Gu Xiaofeng watched her. Yiyi’s expression while talking to Siri was so sweet it was practically dripping honey. My neighbor isn’t just weird, she thought, she’s a total deviant.
When they arrived at the Tang Huan International Building, Gu Xiaofeng put on her mask and hat. “Thank you, Tu Sha… Miss Tu.” (She almost called her “Tu the Fool.”)
“You’re welcome!” Yiyi waved brightly.
As Gu Xiaofeng walked toward the elevator, she was met by her friend, Fang Yueshi. “Xiaofeng! Who was that in the Rolls-Royce? Some rich young master? No wonder you’re ignoring Xu Yanzhe.”
Gu Xiaofeng took off her sunglasses. “If you mention that name again, I’m going home.”
“Fine, fine! But seriously, who is he? He’s way better than Xu.”
“It’s a girl,” Gu Xiaofeng said, heading inside. “A little college grad. And you know her. You just met her.”
“I know her? Who?”
“Villa Number One.”
“Wait… the ancient-costume boss?! No way!”
