My Wife, So Fierce! - Chapter 70
Shen Baiyi glanced down at the yellow dog still circling her and wagging its tail. She hesitated, “It looks somewhat familiar. I think I used to have a dog like this before.”
Zheng Yao’s eyes flickered instantly.
It seemed that exposure to familiar things was quite beneficial for Shen Baiyi’s memory recovery.
“Right,” she said without hiding anything, pointing at the dog, “If I’m not mistaken, this is the dog you used to have.”
“My dog?” Shen Baiyi was somewhat surprised. She lowered her head and tentatively reached out her hand. The yellow dog immediately lifted its head to rub against her palm, whimpering and whining continuously.
Zheng Yao silently watched the delight on Shen Baiyi’s face.
With this delay, it was already very close to departure time. But this rescued yellow dog had become a problem, it was clear that dogs couldn’t be brought on the bus.
She pinched the bridge of her nose, once again regretting her momentary soft-heartedness.
Not only couldn’t it be brought on the bus, but more importantly, what did she plan to do after saving this dog? Take it home to raise?
She was most afraid of dogs.
She couldn’t even imagine what it would be like to have a dog at home.
Before she could finish wrestling with her thoughts, Shen Baiyi’s voice rang out, “Sister, shall we leave it at a local pet hospital for boarding, or find someone to adopt it?”
“Boarding?” Zheng Yao was astonished, “This is your dog. Aren’t you taking it with you?”
Shen Baiyi shook her head.
Sister was afraid of dogs bringing the dog back would scare her.
She remembered one time when they went to the night market together, a dog dashed out and Sister turned pale.
Moreover, Sister had said she hated dogs the most.
Shen Baiyi gently stroked the yellow dog’s head and said softly, “As long as it can live a stable life, it doesn’t necessarily have to stay by my side.”
But she definitely had to stay by Sister’s side.
Shen Baiyi’s voluntary step back instead made the scales in Zheng Yao’s heart tip the other way.
Shen Baiyi had always lacked love; she probably kept a dog before for emotional support. This dog was completely devoted to Shen Baiyi, and they had a strong connection, it was such a coincidence that they met just before its death. It would be too unreasonable to abandon it now.
After some consideration, she said, “Even if we’re boarding it, we should take it back home to board it there. It’ll be more convenient for you to visit it in the future.”
Hearing this, Shen Baiyi’s eyes brightened slightly, though she still had doubts, “But it seems inconvenient for us to take it back.”
Besides, if they didn’t hurry and settle the dog, the bus home would depart.
“It’s fine, we can book a private car that allows dogs,” Zheng Yao pinched the bridge of her nose, then added seriously, “But I hate dogs. You must not let it touch me.”
“Okay!”
Shen Baiyi’s eyes curved into smiles.
Since they needed to find a private car, time became more flexible. Zheng Yao first took both the person and the dog to a pet shop and had the staff give Dahuang a thorough wash.
After nearly an hour of effort, Dahuang was finally somewhat cleaned up. But it had skin diseases and appeared to have been severely beaten, as many patches of its fur were missing.
The pet shop suggested shaving all its fur and giving it medicated baths for a period.
This would require a visit to the pet hospital later to let Zhuang Liulan examine the dog and decide how to treat it.
Using her financial power, Zheng Yao quickly hailed a car. This was her first time spending such a long period in the same space as a dog. It wasn’t as unbearable as she had imagined, but she couldn’t say she felt entirely comfortable either.
Fortunately, she fell asleep later on and didn’t feel much. By the time she opened her eyes, they had almost reached the city.
She first asked the driver to stop by a pet hospital. After such a long car ride, her entire body ached, and her head felt heavy and muddled. She had no energy to care about a dog at all.
She didn’t even get out of the car, simply letting Shen Baiyi hand the dog over to Zhuang Liulan.
Because she had two cats at home, Shen Baiyi was already very familiar with pet hospitals. With Zheng Yao having informed Zhuang Liulan in advance, everything went relatively smoothly.
But seeing her sister collapse onto the sofa as soon as they got home, Shen Baiyi couldn’t help but approach her:
“Sister, aren’t you going to take a shower before sleeping?”
As she spoke, she gently brushed aside the hair covering her sister’s cheeks. Seeing the exhaustion on her face, Shen Baiyi unconsciously showed a hint of pity. “If you’re really too tired, I can help you wash.”
No sooner had she finished speaking than her sister, who had just had her eyes closed, instantly sprang up from the sofa. “I’ll wash myself.”
After saying that, she got up and went into her room.
A few seconds later, she came out with her pajamas, and the bathroom door slammed shut.
Not long after, the sound of running water could be heard from inside. Shen Baiyi sighed softly. Why, after all this time, was her sister still so wary of her?
She had been restraining herself so much.
It had been so long since she had been close to her sister.
–
After every long and tiring journey, Zheng Yao would be completely exhausted. After taking a shower, she would collapse onto the bed and sleep like a log.
She only woke up when Shen Baiyi called her for dinner.
Perhaps because she had slept for too long, her head felt heavy and muddled. Although her stomach was growling with hunger, she simply didn’t have the strength to get out of bed. Her entire body felt weak and limp. After struggling for just a few seconds, she gave up, grabbing a plush toy to cover her face and surrendering to laziness. “I don’t want to eat. You go ahead.”
“Sister, you didn’t eat much at noon either. If you skip dinner again, it’ll be bad for your stomach.”
As she spoke, Shen Baiyi reached out to take her hand. The soft, delicate texture made Shen Baiyi’s eyes darken slightly. After subtly caressing it for a moment, she exerted a little force, pulling her sister up.
Then, bending over, she took advantage of the moment her sister was pulled away from the bed to wrap her other arm around her sister’s waist. With both arms exerting force at the same time, she pulled her sister into her embrace.
Soft jade in her arms.
Shen Baiyi let out a long, relieved sigh in her heart, filled with joy.
She had finally hugged her sister again.
So fragrant and soft.
She couldn’t help but lower her head, pressing her nose against her sister’s shoulder and moving slightly toward her neck. The fragrance grew even stronger.
Shen Baiyi’s eyelashes trembled violently. She was reluctant to let go, thinking somewhat self-destructively, Why not just hold her until she’s fully awake? After all, I can only take advantage of these moments when her mind is unclear.
She allowed her sister to lie back down on the bed.
Her sister’s bed was filled with her sister’s scent. Even though they both used the same shower gel, Shen Baiyi could always detect a unique fragrance on her sister.
She felt both satisfied and greedy.
Because her sister didn’t let go of her. Instead, she treated Shen Baiyi like a body pillow, hugging her tightly in return and actively snuggling closer.
Her soft, rosy lips brushed against Shen Baiyi’s face several times, unsettling her heart and making her wish she could chase after those lips to taste their sweetness.
But in the end, reason prevailed over impulse.
After lying on her sister’s bed for only a short while, Shen Baiyi reached out to touch her sister’s face: “Sister, it’s time to get up.”
If she didn’t get up soon, the food would go cold.
Her sister’s stomach wouldn’t be able to handle it.
“Sister?” As she spoke, she gently pinched a small piece of her sister’s cheek, mimicking the way her sister used to pinch her, and gave it a light squeeze.
Of course, she didn’t dare to use much force.
“Sister.” Her other hand slid down and landed on her sister’s waist. She poked it lightly and said with a smile, “If you don’t get up now, I’m going to tickle you.”
Her sister was ticklish, a little secret she had discovered.
As soon as she poked her, her sister’s waist arched inward. Shen Baiyi’s eyes curved into crescents as she called out “Sister,” gently holding her waist and shaking her with restraint.
Zheng Yao was so annoyed that she had no choice but to open her eyes and glare at her: “What are you doing?”
“It’s time to eat, Sister,” Shen Baiyi said patiently.
As Zheng Yao slowly woke up, she became acutely aware of her stomach’s fierce protests. She released Shen Baiyi and sat up, her hair a messy bird’s nest.
She sat there dazed for nearly a minute before noticing movement beside her. Turning her head, she saw Shen Baiyi sitting up on her bed, and only then did she belatedly realize that Shen Baiyi had been lying in the same bed as her.
“What’s going on? Why are you in my bed?”
Instantly on guard, she subconsciously grabbed the gray wolf plushie beside her and held it close, while also checking if her body felt any different.
Shen Baiyi looked utterly innocent: “Did you forget, Sister? I was trying to wake you up and pull you out of bed, but you hugged me and dragged us both back onto the bed.”
Zheng Yao: “…”
Now that she mentioned it, a vague memory did surface in her mind.
It seemed to match what Shen Baiyi was saying?
Besides, her chest didn’t feel any different. If Shen Baiyi had taken advantage of her while she was asleep, she would have felt it, just like before.
“Fine.” Zheng Yao reluctantly accepted the explanation, but she refused to back down completely. Lifting her chin, she declared, “Now you can get off my bed. I’ll get up to eat soon. Don’t just climb into my bed whenever you feel like it.”
Seeing her sister’s attempt at a fierce expression, Shen Baiyi found it utterly adorable and didn’t mind her last remark at all. Her eyes curved into smiles again: “Okay.”
After obediently getting off the bed, she bent down to arrange the slippers her sister had kicked haphazardly and placed them neatly at her feet. “Sister, remember to put your slippers on.”
Zheng Yao’s morning grumpiness hadn’t fully dissipated, and hearing this, her rebellious side flared up. She kicked the slippers away and said sternly, “I won’t wear them.”
The next second, her foot was caught in Shen Baiyi’s hand.
Zheng Yao’s eyes widened slightly.
She instinctively tried to pull her foot back but failed.
Shen Baiyi’s hand was slightly cold, and the slight roughness of her skin sent a tingling sensation through Zheng Yao. Unable to resist, she lowered her head and met Shen Baiyi’s gaze. Her heart skipped a beat for a few seconds.
She could clearly feel the atmosphere slowly turning subtle.
Shen Baiyi was the first to speak, breaking the subtle tension:
“Sister’s feet are so soft.””
As she spoke, her calloused fingertips gently stroked Zheng Yao’s foot, carrying a hint of intimacy and ambiguity.
Zheng Yao’s mind went blank without warning.
Before her brain could react, her foot had already taken action.
A few minutes later, Shen Baiyi looked up with tear-filled eyes as her sister wiped the bloodstains from her face.
Zheng Yao deliberately put on a stern face as she wiped the blood from Shen Baiyi’s face. Though feeling somewhat guilty inside, she forced herself to appear composed while scolding, “You’re a grown adult shouldn’t you know what’s appropriate to say and what isn’t? Spouting nonsense! You brought today’s trouble upon yourself!”
She had been flustered at the time, and even she was surprised by that kick.
By the time she realized what happened, Shen Baiyi was already knocked to the ground, clutching her nose with both hands. Soon, crimson blood began seeping through her fingers.
The sight nearly made Zheng Yao panic.
After frantically fussing for a while, she finally managed to stop the bleeding. Now with time to clean Shen Baiyi’s face properly, she could also take the opportunity to lecture her.
But Shen Baiyi still seemed aggrieved: “Sister, I was only speaking the truth.”
