My Wife is a Frustrating Genius!!! - Chapter 54
Lu Jiahe clenched her fists tightly, took two deep breaths while looking at the person across from her, then slowly leaned in and plucked the cherry from the other’s lips, eating it herself.
Cheng Yi, who had been pretending to be drunk, originally wanted to see why the other person was deliberately trying to get her drunk. Little did she expect, oh, little did she expect, that this person actually wanted to take advantage of her!
Given Cheng Yi’s usual temperament, she would have been so furious that she immediately sat up and gave the person across from her a good beating. But right now, she found herself somewhat enjoying the feeling of being treated so gently.
“Mmm.” Cheng Yi was so breathless she couldn’t hold it in any longer. She couldn’t help but make a sound, hoping to remind the ‘pervert’ across from her to let go quickly.
But the one lost in the throes of tenderness couldn’t possibly care about such things. With her eyes closed, she gently and meticulously plucked the fruit from those crimson lips, completely unaware that the person she was bullying had already opened her eyes.
“Mmm. Lu Jiahe.”
Cheng Yi truly couldn’t hold her breath any longer. As soon as she tilted her head back slightly, this shameless scoundrel in front of her had the audacity to prop herself up and press a hand against the back of her head.
“Lu Jiahe, I can’t breathe!” Cheng Yi pushed hard against the “pervert’s” shoulders with both hands.
Feeling the pressure on her shoulders, the other person slowly opened her eyes. “Ah! You’re awake?”
Lu Jiahe sat up in shock and stared at the person across from her. She had thought Cheng Yi was just dreaming in her drunken state and trying to push her away, she never expected the other to be awake!
Cheng Yi’s face flushed red with embarrassment as she shot a glare at the other person, then said, “What? Did you think I’d sleep like the dead forever?”
The one caught red-handed didn’t know how to face the woman she had “bullied,” so she lowered her head, her ears tinged with red, and whispered, “I-I thought you were drunk.”
Although Cheng Yi didn’t mind kissing the other. In fact, she even liked it a little, the other’s actions were not something she could accept. “What do you mean? Just because I’m drunk, you think you can kiss me without my consent?” Like a startled little bird, she pulled the blanket over herself.
“I’m sorry.” Now sober and no longer controlled by desire, Lu Jiahe also realized she had done something wrong and immediately apologized.
Seeing the other’s reaction, Cheng Yi didn’t have the heart to say anything more. After all, she had clearly overheard Lu Jiahe saying she wanted to give it a try.
“Lie down! Go to sleep!”
“Okay.”
Lu Jiahe was utterly deflated. On one hand, she was savoring the taste of the other’s lips in her mind; on the other, she was wondering why Cheng Yi had no reaction at all after she had done something so outrageous. Did it mean she no longer wanted to give it a try?
With these doubts swirling in her heart, Lu Jiahe lay flat on the bed and let out a deep sigh.
Cheng Yi, who had her back turned to the other, couldn’t sleep either. She had thought Lu Jiahe would seize the opportunity to be a little more assertive and confess her feelings, but who would have thought this blockhead’s first reaction upon being caught was to apologize?
She closed her eyes and slowly, stealthily inched closer to Lu Jiahe, straining her ears to catch every sound the other made.
After hearing the other sigh several times in a row, Cheng Yi couldn’t take it anymore! If you love someone, you should say it out loud! But since the other wasn’t going to say it. Well, she was too embarrassed to say it herself.
After an intense internal struggle, Cheng Yi mustered her courage and flipped over to sit atop Lu Jiahe.
She looked down at her from above, her eyes filled with too many indescribable emotions.
Lost in her sorrow, Lu Jiahe was startled by the other’s sudden movement. She looked at her in confusion and hesitated, “W-what’s wrong?”
Cheng Yi frowned at the dazed girl beneath her, thinking to herself that the other had been quite bold earlier, so why had she turned timid again now that she was awake?
She reached up and swept the hair that had fallen on both sides of her face back behind her head, then grabbed Lu Jiahe’s collar with both hands and leaned down.
“Lu Jiahe, do you like me?” Cheng Yi deliberately pressed her lips against the other’s chin.
Her warm breath continuously swirled around Lu Jiahe’s neck, and Cheng Yi could clearly feel the temperature of the body beneath her gradually rising.
“I.” Lu Jiahe tightly gripped the sheets beneath her, feeling the warm breath brushing against her jaw. She was so embarrassed she didn’t know how to respond.
Cheng Yi pressed against the ‘hot water bottle’ beneath her, waiting for a long time without hearing the answer she wanted. Closing her eyes, she cursed the other in her heart a few times, then tightened her grip on the collar and asked the question again.
“Lu Jiahe, what exactly are you thinking? If you don’t like me, why try to get me drunk and take advantage of me?”
Lu Jiahe felt like she was about to boil over, her head so hot it felt like it might crack open and release the heat building inside her body!
“I-I didn’t mean to. I like you, sister.” She lowered her gaze to look at the top of Cheng Yi’s head, hesitated for a moment, then raised her arms and pulled the other into an embrace.
Cheng Yi, who thought hearing the other’s answer wouldn’t stir much emotion in her, couldn’t help but tighten her grip on the other’s collar upon hearing those words.
“I didn’t mean to get you drunk, I-I just didn’t dare, not when you were sober.” Lu Jiahe wanted to explain herself. She knew what she did wasn’t right, but she really couldn’t control her desire to take things further with Cheng Yi.
“Alright, I know.” Cheng Yi was aware of Lu Jiahe’s character, and she had previously mentioned wanting to give their relationship a try, so she didn’t intend to blame the other for this.
Hearing Cheng Yi’s comforting words, Lu Jiahe felt much better. “Then, do you like me too, sister?”
Although she had admitted her own feelings, Cheng Yi had never said she liked her, which made Lu Jiahe extremely anxious.
Hearing this, Cheng Yi couldn’t help but roll her eyes inwardly. She had already taken the initiative to this extent, yet this blockhead still didn’t get it!
She pushed herself up and stared at the thoroughly embarrassed girl beneath her, then leaned down and planted a firm kiss on the corner of the other’s mouth.
“Do you understand now?”
In the darkness, Cheng Yi used the long hair falling on both sides of her face to hide her cheeks, which had turned as red as apples.
“Y-yes, I understand.” Lu Jiahe kept replaying the other’s kiss in her mind. She had never imagined that meeting Cheng Yi would bring such earth-shattering changes to her life.
Cheng Yi flipped off of her and lay with her back to the other, feeling as though she had used up all her courage.
Lu Jiahe, who had been immersed in happiness, felt the weight on her disappear and turned to look at the other. “Yi’er, why did you get off? Don’t you like lying on top of me?”
Upon hearing this, Cheng Yi felt a wave of speechlessness wash over her. She wondered why the other person hadn’t been bolder earlier, waiting until all her own courage had been drained before saying something so blunt.
Lu Jiahe, noticing that Cheng Yi hadn’t responded for a while, thought she might have fallen asleep. After hesitating for a moment, she imitated the actions from the romantic novels the matchmaker had shown her, slowly moving closer and wrapping her arms around Cheng Yi, holding her in an embrace.
Cheng Yi had initially assumed Lu Jiahe wouldn’t make any moves, but she hadn’t expected her to take the initiative and hold her so tenderly. Pressing her lips together in thought, she shifted slightly, finding a comfortable position in the other’s arms, and drifted off to sleep with a sense of ease.
Listening to the gradually steady breathing beside her, Lu Jiahe gently kissed the top of Cheng Yi’s head before closing her eyes and falling asleep as well.
Ever since the two had confirmed their relationship, during their waking hours, they would often maintain a certain distance out of shyness.
To a newly dating couple, such behavior might seem like a natural display of bashfulness, but in the eyes of Guo’er and Lu An, it raised concerns that there might be some unresolved tension between them.
“Young Mistress, what do you think of this quilt? Should we buy two to place in your room for you and the young master?” Guo’er asked, carefully observing the expression on Cheng Yi’s face.
“Young Mistress, our young master used to only focus on studying and had very few friends. If she’s done anything to upset you, please speak up. The young master will surely give you a reasonable explanation.”
Cheng Yi frowned as she listened to Guo’er’s words. At first, she didn’t quite grasp the meaning behind them, but after a moment’s reflection, she realized Guo’er thought she was angry with Lu Jiahe.
“Hmm, I understand. She hasn’t done anything to upset me,” Cheng Yi replied, running her hand over the quilt Guo’er had brought for her to inspect. “One quilt is enough. We’re married, sharing one quilt is fine.”
Unaware of what had transpired between the two in the inn room a few days prior, Guo’er was somewhat puzzled by Cheng Yi’s insistence on buying only one quilt.
“You and the young master will share one quilt? Won’t that be insufficient?”
Hearing this, Cheng Yi’s frown deepened. She thought to herself how stubborn everyone around Lu Jiahe seemed to be, just like her. Hadn’t she made her meaning clear enough? Did she have to announce it to the world like a town crier that she and Lu Jiahe were in a relationship?
“It’s enough. Just buy one,” Cheng Yi said, unwilling to explain further. After instructing Guo’er on what to purchase, she wandered off alone to the back of the fabric shop.
Meanwhile, Lu Jiahe, basking in the glow of love, headed straight to a jewelry store after school, bringing Lu An along with her.
She spent a long time browsing through the shop but couldn’t find any jewelry that seemed suitable for Cheng Yi.
“Young Master, I just saw the sign at the entrance. This shop offers custom-made jewelry. If you don’t find anything fitting for the Young Mistress, why not have something made to express your feelings?”
Hearing this, Lu Jiahe walked to the door to check the sign. “How did you know I was buying jewelry for her?”
Lu An stiffened slightly at the question. He didn’t dare admit that he and Guo’er had conspired to try and ease the tension between the two that very day.
“N-No, Young Master, you only have the Young Mistress by your side. If you’re not buying jewelry for her, who else would it be for?”
Lu Jiahe raised an eyebrow at his response but said nothing more. She then led Lu An back into the shop to the counter to pay for a custom-made piece of jewelry.
After the group had each bought their things, they returned to the newly purchased residence to have dinner together.
“Guo’er, this house is too big for you to manage alone. Tomorrow, take the young mistress to see the matchmaker and check if there are any suitable servants,” Lu Jiahe said while placing food into Cheng Yi’s bowl.
“Yes, young master,” Guo’er acknowledged the task assigned by her master. It took her a moment to realize that her master had just referred to her not as Miss Cheng, but as the young mistress!
