- My Wife Is a Delicate Omega and I’ve Forgotten Her After Amnesia
- Chapter 7 - Bullying the Wife
The woman’s laughter was crisp and joyful, as if she had just heard a joke that she found both hilarious and delightful. She laughed with unmasked smugness.
Shu Yu did not push her away, for she had already realized that the girl outside was likely not Jiang Zhijiu’s girlfriend.
She felt a bit uneasy under Jiang Zhijiu’s laughter. Her coldness just now had made it seem as though she cared deeply about whether Jiang Zhijiu had a girlfriend, even betraying a clear sense of jealousy. Jiang Zhijiu was clearly sharp enough to catch on, which was why she was laughing so recklessly.
Jiang Zhijiu had misunderstood. She definitely was not jealous.
Yet, for some reason, the corners of Shu Yu’s lips curled upward.
As Jiang Zhijiu laughed, her soft arms wrapped around Shu Yu’s neck. Feeling that she hadn’t been pushed away, she tested the waters step by step, taking the opportunity to sit astride Shu Yu’s lap. She buried her face in the crook of Shu Yu’s neck while laughing, her eyelashes brushing against Shu Yu’s skin, while her warm, scented breath puffed against it in rhythmic waves.
Their delicate skin pressed together, their soft fragrances intertwined. Jiang Zhijiu’s laughter gradually turned into light, breathless pants. Shu Yu kept her hands at her sides, not hugging her back, but she couldn’t help but gradually tighten her grip on the sofa fabric.
She knew that Jiang Zhijiu had caught the scent of the pheromones from her neck glands and was reacting to her.
Jiang Zhijiu had originally only intended to hold Shu Yu because she was delighted and smug, hoping Shu Yu would follow suit and hug her back.
Since waking up in the hospital, she hadn’t received a hug like this from Shu Yu. She missed her so much—she missed her embrace and the sense of security she felt whenever Shu Yu held her.
But she had forgotten about her own sensitivity. She had tried to dig a pit for Shu Yu, but ended up burying herself instead.
“Your pheromones are here, so close,” Jiang Zhijiu whispered, her nose buried in Shu Yu’s neck, her voice growing increasingly breathless. “Shu Yu, I don’t have a girlfriend. Yu Yi is an Omega, and she has already gone out with Bai Bai. Could you temporarily mark me, please?”
Jiang Zhijiu took Shu Yu’s hand and placed it on her waist. “Here, could you press it?”
Through her cherry-red silk dress, Jiang Zhijiu held Shu Yu’s index finger, guiding her to press down on her gland.
Shu Yu hadn’t touched it, but she unconsciously tried to press it. Suddenly, Jiang Zhijiu’s body trembled violently, and she pressed tightly against Shu Yu. “Mm…”
Shu Yu was startled back to her senses by that sound. She reached out to her bag, took out two suppressant patches, lifted the hem of Jiang Zhijiu’s dress to stick one on her lower back, and then applied the other to her own neck—her movements quick and decisive.
All the chaotic pheromones vanished instantly. Jiang Zhijiu let out a sigh of unfulfilled longing and straightened her back. “Little sister, why do you carry suppressant patches with you? Who are you guarding against?”
Shu Yu looked at her nonchalantly. There was no doubt the answer was guarding against her.
Suppressant patches had a short duration and were designed for short-term contact.
Jiang Zhijiu slowly climbed off Shu Yu’s lap to straighten her dress. When she looked up again, she smiled alluringly. “Little sister, don’t be so jealous next time, okay?”
Shu Yu’s brow furrowed. “I wasn’t.”
Jiang Zhijiu smiled with such charm, acting as if nothing had happened. “Fine, fine, you weren’t.”
Shu Yu: “…”
Jiang Zhijiu lifted her skirt slightly and asked again, “Little sister Shu Yu, do I look good in this dress?”
Shu Yu looked away. “Don’t ask me.”
“With that attitude, I don’t like you anymore,” Jiang Zhijiu said, though she was still smiling while picking up her dress. “Turn around, baby, I need to take this off. I’m changing clothes.”
She said she didn’t like her, yet she still called her “baby.”
Shu Yu immediately stood up, ready to leave, but Jiang Zhijiu spoke from behind her: “I haven’t checked how the wound on your arm is healing yet. Shu Yu, you don’t want me to suddenly strip your clothes off in public, do you?”
Shu Yu turned back, looking at her indifferently. “Are you capable of that?”
They were similar in height, with Jiang Zhijiu only half a head shorter, but Jiang Zhijiu had a smaller frame, making her appear more delicate. Moreover, one was a powerful Alpha and the other a soft Omega. Could an Omega really forcibly strip an Alpha in a public place?
Jiang Zhijiu lightly tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear, smoothing her vibrant, curly hair. Her eyes shimmered with a confident smile. “But who knows if I might go crazy? Shu Yu, you can tell, can’t you? Your big sister isn’t an ordinary person. Right?”
Shu Yu turned her back in silence, not walking away.
She did indeed feel it—Jiang Zhijiu seemed like someone who could do absolutely anything.
Jiang Zhijiu slowly took off the cherry-red dress she had been trying on. The sound of fabric rubbing against skin drifted into Shu Yu’s ears intermittently.
Jiang Zhijiu tossed the dress onto the sofa behind Shu Yu. A fragrance that had been clinging to Jiang Zhijiu’s body drifted over, and Shu Yu sighed, pressing her temples.
Jiang Zhijiu changed back into her own dress and walked in front of Shu Yu. It was still a red dress, but the shade was closer to wine red.
Jiang Zhijiu pushed Shu Yu’s shoulder, forcing her to sit back down on the sofa.
She looked down at Shu Yu’s right arm, first undoing the cuff buttons of her shirt, then pushing the sleeve up layer by layer. Her fingernails brushed against Shu Yu’s skin, intentionally or otherwise.
Shu Yu didn’t look at her, only staring blankly at the white wall to the left, waves of emotion churning within her gaze.
The gauze on Shu Yu’s arm was exposed. Jiang Zhijiu gently tapped the gauze, sighing with worry: “It’s been so long, why hasn’t little sister’s injury healed yet?”
It was because she had accidentally used her right hand while cooking, which had strained the wound.
Shu Yu didn’t want to mention that she had been practicing cooking at home. She almost blurted out an excuse about “accidentally getting it wet and infected,” but felt Jiang Zhijiu might make a huge fuss. In the end, she said nothing at all.
Jiang Zhijiu realized that Shu Yu couldn’t be bothered with her. She pursed her lips and asked softly, “Shu Yu, I want to blow on it for you. May I?”
“Blowing on it” was what parents did for children when they got hurt.
Did Jiang Zhijiu always “blow” on someone else’s injuries?
Time stretched slowly for a minute.
Shu Yu pulled her shirt sleeve down layer by layer, buttoned it, and said clearly and deliberately: “I think you might have misunderstood something. Boss Jiang, I have someone I like.”
She was certain she had someone she loved deeply in her heart. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have reached out to hold the other side of the bed when waking up in the middle of the night, nor would she have felt such heart-wrenching loss when she couldn’t reach anyone.
Since she had just met Jiang Zhijiu, that person definitely wasn’t her.
As for her emotions regarding Jiang Zhijiu, perhaps it was just because Jiang Zhijiu looked a lot like that person.
Time stretched slowly for another minute.
In that minute, even breathing hurt for Jiang Zhijiu. She told herself over and over: Why do this to yourself, Jiang Zhijiu? Why always put yourself in such an embarrassing situation?
But she loved Shu Yu, loved her enough to give her own life for her.
“Having someone you like, so what? Since you’re single now, and you haven’t gone after her, and she hasn’t come looking for you, doesn’t that just mean you two aren’t meant to be together? Or maybe she’s already married? You’re single, and I’m single,” Jiang Zhijiu said with a smile, looking up. The light from the ceiling of the changing room reflected in her eyes like twinkling stars, yet also like stars falling into an endless, blue sea of tears. “You said I look like a friend of yours, is it that friend? Anyway, you still like my looks and my figure, don’t you?”
Jiang Zhijiu shrugged indifferently. “Let’s just take it slow and see.”
Before Shu Yu lost her memory, the thing she hated most was that Jiang Zhijiu had lied about a pregnancy to trick her into marriage.
Yes, Shu Yu didn’t know that they had already been married for three years and had long since formed a permanent mark, which was why they were so sensitive to each other’s pheromones and so mutually attracted.
Jiang Zhijiu thought that if Shu Yu never recovered the memories of these three years, she would never again use a fake pregnancy to trick her. She didn’t want Shu Yu to hate her; as long as Shu Yu still liked her even a little bit, that would be enough—even the tiniest bit would suffice.
“Little sister, lift your arms,” Jiang Zhijiu said, setting aside the clothes Shu Yu had brought in, pretending to help her change. She smiled and said, “Since you have someone in your heart, you shouldn’t mind me helping you change, right? This wound on your arm is my fault, and it’s inconvenient for you to change clothes. I want to help, and it’ll make me feel a little better, too.”
Suddenly being told that she had a lover in her heart, and then looking at Jiang Zhijiu’s face, Shu Yu felt a terrifying sense of mental infidelity.
She refused: “No need, I’m not buying it.”
Shu Yu picked up her clothes, circled around Jiang Zhijiu, and walked out, her pace so fast it was as if she were dodging a plague.
Jiang Zhijiu reached out to stop her, offering the most humble suggestion. She looked up, her smile dazzlingly charming: “Baby, you can just treat me as a substitute for your lover. Big sister doesn’t mind.”
Shu Yu felt a sudden, bone-piercing pain. She didn’t understand why, but she silently swiped Jiang Zhijiu’s hand away and walked out with long strides.
Jiang Zhijiu hugged her shoulders, looking up at the blinding light. She watched it for a long time, until she was briefly blinded, then slowly closed her eyes, clutching her chest, which hurt so much she could barely breathe.
Should she keep loving her?
Or maybe, should she just stop?
Why make herself so miserable?
Jiang Zhijiu bought the three dresses she had tried on. Struggling between the thought of giving up and not giving up, she walked forward aimlessly.
“Young Master Cheng, wait—that’s her! She’s the one who caused Liu San to be taken away by Director Chen of the Control Bureau!”
“So charming. No wonder Liu San wanted to take advantage of her. She’s an Omega, right? I can smell her scent from way over here. Smelling like that, isn’t she just out here trying to seduce people?”
“Exactly! If she wasn’t so beautiful and smelled so inviting, with ‘touch me’ written all over her face, how could Liu San have gone to touch her?”
“Young Master Cheng, let’s get some payback for Liu San, yeah?”
“If it weren’t for her, Liu San wouldn’t be under investigation, and all the deals he was working on wouldn’t have fallen through.”
“With Liu San locked up, your business, Young Master Cheng, has been hit hard. Take that overseas export deal from last month—without Liu San, it just vanished, and you lost tens of millions! Even if you don’t care about that pocket change, the rest of us do. We’ve been struggling to get by these past few days. Young Master Cheng, you’ve got to get some payback for us! We’ve hated her guts all day long.”
“Ambition, fine. Young Master will let you guys have some fun today.”
Jiang Zhijiu had been lost in her own thoughts, and none of these comments had actually registered in her mind.
Suddenly, she bumped into a soft embrace. She didn’t push the person away because she immediately recognized the familiar warmth and smelled the familiar scent.
“What do you want?” Shu Yu said, looking coldly at the three men behind her.
The leader, Young Master Cheng, was clearly a wealthy, spoiled brat. Flattered by the group around him, he felt untouchable, wearing a cocky and arrogant expression, acting as if he were some big shot who could cover the sky with one hand.
“Want? Who the hell are you? Just a woman, though you do look pret—”
“Young Master Cheng! Don’t go over there! She’s the Alpha who suppressed Liu San and made him kneel down and kowtow! I heard she’s that daughter from the Shu family, the S-rank one! Forget it, Young Master Cheng, let’s just go, it’s not worth the trouble!”
Young Master Cheng instantly swallowed the arrogant words that were about to come out, paralyzed by a reflexive fear.
An S-rank Alpha was the rarest of existences.
It was an innate ability worthy of respect and worship, transcending all birth, background, status, and class, causing countless people to look up to her in awe.
The Shu family heiress had received endless public attention when she manifested at eighteen. They were incredibly rare nationwide, and it was said her late mother was also a top-tier Alpha.
But he had been an A-rank Alpha since he was a child; he wasn’t someone who bowed his head to others, and he had never backed down in his life. Otherwise, how could he continue to survive in these circles?
Young Master Cheng had two lackeys behind him. He couldn’t back down today, or he would lose face and have to tuck his tail and run. He continued to act arrogant: “So what? I haven’t done anything. If she wants to release her pheromones, be my guest; we’ll just call the police. Besides, who knows if she’s just a fake S-rank masquerading as a member of the Shu family? Maybe she just took some drugs when she suppressed Liu San. Hey, beauty, where’d you get those drugs? Let me have a taste? I promise I won’t call the police. Come on, beauty, I’ve got plenty of more fun stuff where that came from.”
Jiang Zhijiu had actually realized that the so-called Young Master Cheng was terrified, because he insisted that Shu Yu was a fake and didn’t dare say, “Even if she were real, I wouldn’t fear her,” which would have been truly tough.
But he actually dared to slander Shu Yu by saying she took illegal drugs and then insulted her. This was unbearable. Her Shu Yu, her baby, was the cleanest person in the world. Jiang Zhijiu sneered coldly: “Disgusting trash.”
Young Master Cheng was instantly enraged, cursing at the Omega he viewed as the weakest: “Who are you calling, you dirty bi—”
But he didn’t hear the rest of what he said.
Because Shu Yu had covered her ears.
With her ears covered by Shu Yu, Jiang Zhijiu could no longer hear any of the outside world. She slowly looked up at Shu Yu, who had just been speaking firmly and had turned back to defend her.
