My Wife Became a Top Star After I Came Back from Quick Transmigration - Chapter 60
The beat of her heart was so intense it felt as if it would burst from her chest, and Lin Mo’s fingers still lingered, gently caressing her.
Seeing Su Qixi nestled in the sofa, still in the afterglow with a hint of seduction in her eyes and eyebrows, Lin Mo’s heart was filled with joy and contentment.
She leaned down again and brushed her lips against Su Qixi’s. Su Qixi moaned softly but refused to be passive, gasping as she wrapped her arms around Lin Mo’s neck. This time, she was no longer submissive, eagerly returning Lin Mo’s kisses.
In the dim movie theater, with the excellent surround sound providing a perfect experience, the two of them held each other tightly. Their breathing was ragged, and a thin layer of sweat appeared on them in the comfortable temperature of the room.
Su Qixi’s heart was burning. She held Lin Mo tightly, and after reaching the peak once more, she heard Lin Mo’s satisfied laughter.
Su Qixi opened her eyes to look at her. Lin Mo, who was leaning over her, was backlit, making her eyes look especially bright as she watched Su Qixi with a gentle smile.
Seeing Su Qixi’s dazed expression, not yet fully awake from the afterglow, Lin Mo couldn’t help but lean down to kiss her eyes and remind her, “We should get ready to go.”
Su Qixi felt her waist and legs were weak. She reached out and gripped Lin Mo’s arm, saying in a low voice, “I rented it for the whole day.”
“Silly,” Lin Mo said, leaning down to kiss her cheeks repeatedly. “Do you really believe there aren’t any reporters outside?”
In truth, Su Qixi’s manager, Xiong Jingjing, had already sent her a message with the same warning. Su Qixi, however, had been too lazy to read it.
As her body slowly recovered, Su Qixi’s mood suddenly soured a bit. She simply reached out, hugged Lin Mo tightly, and pulled her in her direction, causing them to fall back into the sofa together.
Lin Mo let out a soft sound but managed to brace herself with her hands on the backrest beside Su Qixi’s head, preventing herself from crushing her.
“I’m not scared,” Su Qixi said, lying on the wide backrest with her long hair fanned out behind her like a sheet of fine black silk.
Not scared?
Lin Mo smiled helplessly and caressed her face, reassuring her, “There will be a better way to handle it.”
Su Qixi, with a burst of energy she didn’t know she had, wrapped her legs around Lin Mo’s waist, glaring at her, “You can’t just have your fun and not be responsible!”
What did she mean, “have fun and not be responsible”? Lin Mo hadn’t run away.
Lin Mo didn’t rush to argue. Instead, she gently caressed the two jade-like legs wrapped around her waist, finding them so fair and delicate that she couldn’t help but linger.
Su Qixi was getting uncomfortable with her touches and squirmed a little. Lin Mo chuckled and leaned down, her voice low and husky as she whispered in Su Qixi’s ear, “You still have energy? Then how about we…”
Su Qixi was startled and quickly propped up her upper body, but she didn’t pull away. Instead, she reached out to hug Lin Mo.
Lin Mo had to use one hand to support herself so she wouldn’t fall and crush her, so she could only use her other arm to pull Su Qixi into her embrace.
Su Qixi felt the arm on her back and her heart softened. She called out Lin Mo’s name.
“Lin Mo, Lin Mo, Lin Mo.”
Hearing her call her name again and again, Lin Mo’s heart softened. She held her tightly and flipped them over. They switched positions, with Lin Mo sitting on the sofa and Su Qixi resting her head on Lin Mo’s chest, listening to the strong, steady beat of her heart.
This intimate act filled Su Qixi with immense joy.
She felt Lin Mo’s fingers gently and slowly tracing her bare back, moving down to her waist, and then returning to her neck to repeat the motion.
Lin Mo stroked Su Qixi’s back rhythmically, making Su Qixi feel a little dazed with comfort.
She still remembered to tell Lin Mo, “You have to be responsible for what you’ve done. You can’t leave me again now.”
Lin Mo’s hand on her back paused for a moment before she laughed, “Of course.” Otherwise, how could she have taken things this far?
Hearing Lin Mo’s promise, a smile finally appeared on Su Qixi’s face.
She nuzzled against Lin Mo’s chest and then told her, “Lin Mo, you don’t have to be perfect at everything. I’m not afraid of getting hurt. I want to face all of this with you. Those people outside are just paparazzi.”
Lin Mo’s hand rested on her waist, and she let out a quiet sigh. “Alright, but Qixi, no matter what happens in the future, you can hesitate, but always remember, I will be here, waiting for you.”
Su Qixi looked up at her, smiled brightly, and pecked her on the corner of the mouth. “It’s a promise.”
“Of course.”
The tenderness after a moment like that is always captivating. Although they weren’t in a hurry to leave, they couldn’t possibly stay there for the entire day.
Besides, they couldn’t stay there in such a disheveled state.
Lin Mo stood up and picked up Su Qixi’s jacket. “Do you want to take a quick shower?”
Most private movie theaters don’t have bathrooms, but this one in Mingcheng was more luxurious and extravagant. They had private restrooms for guests. Su Qixi felt a bit sticky but hadn’t brought a change of clothes.
Lin Mo guessed what she was thinking from her expression and smiled. “Go ahead and wash up. When I was waiting for the bubble tea, I went to the shop next door and bought two pairs of underwear.”
Su Qixi’s face turned red. She lifted her big, round eyes to look at her.
Lin Mo was amused. She bent down and held Su Qixi between herself and the chair. Her voice was slightly hoarse as she asked, “What is it? Do you want to continue?”
Su Qixi licked her lips but shook her head. It was a case of “too much of a good thing.” Besides, with Lin Mo here, she could take her time and enjoy things slowly.
Seeing her lost in thought, a mischievous, almost lewd smile appeared on her face. Lin Mo found it both funny and helpless. She ruffled Su Qixi’s already messy hair and said, “Go on. And make yourself presentable.”
Su Qixi nodded and took the new underwear from Lin Mo. Since it couldn’t be washed, Lin Mo had bought a disposable, sterilized pair.
With the underwear and her dress in hand, Su Qixi scurried into the bathroom. She didn’t rush to close the door. After a moment’s thought, she poked her head out and stared at Lin Mo with her big, dark eyes.
Lin Mo: “…What’s wrong?”
Hearing the question, Su Qixi’s face turned a deeper red. She bit her lower lip so hard it turned white and left an indentation.
Lin Mo frowned. “Don’t bite your lip like that. Is there something you can’t say?”
Su Qixi finally spoke, “I can say it. I just want to say… Lin Mo, you were amazing today.”
She said the last part softly, out of embarrassment, but it was still audible.
With that, she slammed the door shut.
Lin Mo was left stunned. “…This woman.”
First stunned, then her face slowly turned red, and finally, she broke into a quiet laugh.
She really knew how to tease a person!
Soon, the sound of water could be heard from the bathroom.
Lin Mo, having nothing to do, looked around. She noticed the unopened bubble tea on the table. After all the excitement of the morning, the ice inside had melted.
But Lin Mo still took out a straw, inserted it into the cup, and took a sip.
“So sweet,” she muttered, a little displeased.
She carried the bubble tea and walked around, quickly reaching the tent. She saw that it was furnished with blankets, pillows, and mood lighting.
Lin Mo: “…” This movie theater…
However, the ambiance of the tent was indeed well done. Lin Mo placed the bubble tea at the entrance of the tent and lay down inside to rest.
It was surprisingly comfortable.
When Su Qixi came out and didn’t see Lin Mo on the sofa, her heart sank. Could she have had her fun and run off?
“Ugh, I’m so mad!” Su Qixi stomped her foot, about to make a call. But as she walked around the sofa, she saw Lin Mo lying in the tent, propped on one hand, watching her frantic movements with amusement. Lin Mo’s calm, smiling eyes made Su Qixi’s own panic seem silly.
Su Qixi’s face flushed. She pouted, “Why are you hiding in here?”
Lin Mo smiled back, “I’m not hiding. I was waiting for you!”
Su Qixi stomped her foot again and then abruptly lunged into Lin Mo’s arms.
I won’t say anything, so it doesn’t count as being shy.
Seeing her rush in so recklessly, Lin Mo quickly sat up to catch her, but Su Qixi’s momentum knocked them both down. Luckily, the bed in the tent was very soft, so neither of them was hurt.
Su Qixi lifted her head from Lin Mo’s embrace with a whoosh, like a playful squirrel scurrying between tree branches in the summer. She softly called out Lin Mo’s name, then nuzzled into the crook of Lin Mo’s shoulder, smiling foolishly.
Who knew? I’m finally with the person I’ve had a crush on for three years.
Lin Mo held her. “Did you wash up? You smell so nice.”
The steam in the bathroom must have made Su Qixi’s face even redder. When she heard Lin Mo’s praise, her heart fluttered.
She leaned more closely against Lin Mo’s shoulder and held her even tighter.
Lin Mo chuckled and gently pushed her away. “I need to go wash up, too. When I come out, let’s figure out what we’re doing this afternoon.”
Su Qixi hummed in response, rolled off Lin Mo and onto the blanket, propping her head up with her hands as she watched Lin Mo leave.
Soon, the sound of water filled the bathroom.
Su Qixi’s heart was full. She laid her head down on the blanket. The movie theater was quiet, and the plush blanket was soft and delicate, even emitting a faint, pleasant scent.
Su Qixi gently stroked the blanket, as if she couldn’t get enough of it, and a look of pure contentment appeared on her face.
She couldn’t deny it: she had been “craving” Lin Mo for a long, long time!
At a young and naive age, after realizing her feelings, she had dreamed of a day just like this.
Lin Mo probably didn’t know, did she? That she had longed for this day for so long.
But did Lin Mo really not know? Of course, she did.
Water poured from the showerhead, splashing onto her body. The water temperature was perfect. Lin Mo closed her eyes and wiped the water from her face, thinking of the enchanting look on Su Qixi’s face during their moments together. She couldn’t help but smile.
She knew this day would come, and she knew Su Qixi had been longing for it, because she had, too.
Su Qixi’s quiet confession in her senior year of high school took all her courage. And Lin Mo’s rejection had also taken all of her courage.
But she had left only to return. So, through every lonely night, and every day in a different time, her longing for Su Qixi had never faded.
She believed she would one day return. She believed that one day they would be as inseparable and joyful as they were now.
She changed into a new pair of underwear and put on the clothes she had arrived in.
When Lin Mo came out of the bathroom and saw that Su Qixi hadn’t come out of the tent yet, she had no choice but to crawl in and call to her.
Before she could even speak, Su Qixi rolled over and nestled back into Lin Mo’s arms.
Lying in Lin Mo’s embrace again, she lifted her thin eyelids to reveal eyes as captivating as black jewels. She said in a small voice, “Lin Mo, you’re back.”
It was a simple, meaningless phrase.
Lin Mo’s heart softened. She didn’t rush her, simply replying, “Yes, I’m back.”
Su Qixi then wrapped her arms around Lin Mo’s waist and said, “Lin Mo, let’s take a nap.”
They had been up all morning, but they hadn’t eaten lunch. Su Qixi wasn’t hungry, and she wasn’t worried about the paparazzi outside. She didn’t want to leave this warm, gentle moment to face the world’s troubles.
So, she started to pester Lin Mo, “Tell me about your life, please?”
Lin Mo was amused. Seeing her cling to her like an octopus, she had no choice but to lie down on her side as well. She rested her head on one arm and used the other to gently stroke Su Qixi’s back. Lin Mo’s hands looked fair and slender, but Su Qixi knew from experience that they were slightly rough.
Lin Mo hadn’t lived a pampered life for all those years. She had survived through all sorts of adversity, so how could she possibly have a pair of soft, delicate hands?
Su Qixi felt her fingers glide over her back, causing a slight tickle. The tingling sensation made a strange wave of heat rise in her abdomen once more.
Su Qixi looked at Lin Mo with watery eyes. Lin Mo’s gentle smile reassured her, “What’s there to tell? You knew everything from the years we lived together, didn’t you?”
Lin Mo was being completely proper. Her voice held no hint of lust, and her actions were nothing more than normal couple’s touches. She didn’t notice the amorous glint in Su Qixi’s eyes, and Su Qixi was glad she didn’t.
This is enough, she thought. As long as Lin Mo is here. She hummed a deep “mm,” tightened her embrace, and snuggled into her arms.
“Lin Mo, I want to sing you a song,” Su Qixi said.
“Okay,” Lin Mo’s voice, as gentle as a breeze, drifted into Su Qixi’s ear.
So, Su Qixi began to sing. She slowly sang the song she had written herself, “Longing,” just as she had done countless times over the years whenever she missed Lin Mo.
“No matter what, I can’t forget.”
“I still can’t move on.”
“Only now do I realize how much time has passed.”
“Regret is unspeakable, longing has no voice.”
“Where are you? Do you remember me on graduation day?”
“Do you remember the summer breeze and the rustling leaves?”
“I hold onto my longing, afraid to let go.”
“You never looked back, and you hurt me so deeply.”
She suddenly realized her mistake at this point and quickly said, “This song is no good. I should sing another one.”
But Lin Mo laughed. “What do you mean, it’s no good? It’s a beautiful song. Did you write it for me, Xiao Xi?”
She remembered the day the show started. Su Qixi had been in the bus, and this song was playing. Lin Mo hadn’t asked, but Su Qixi had been quick to deny that the song was for her.
At that time, Su Qixi’s heart was still unsettled, and she didn’t want Lin Mo to know that her longing was as vast and deep as the sea.
But now, hearing Lin Mo’s question, she couldn’t deny it. She buried her face in Lin Mo’s chest and mumbled, “Yes, I missed you, Lin Mo, so, so much. Just like the lyrics say, I’m holding onto my longing for you and I’m afraid to let go. Lin Mo, Lin Mo.”
Lin Mo held her tightly, responding, “I’m here. I am.”
Su Qixi was so full of grievances. How could she not be?
When she was a young girl of 18, the overwhelming feeling of missing someone was almost unbearable. She couldn’t let go or forget, so she had to face that tsunami of longing alone, slowly learning to live with it.
Lin Mo held her, whispering words of comfort in her ear.
“I’m here, Xiao Xi.”
“Xiao Xi, I miss you. I miss you too.”
Her gentle voice seemed to have a magical effect. Su Qixi listened to her soothing words and eventually fell asleep. Seeing that she was finally asleep, Lin Mo pulled the blanket from the inside of the tent and covered Su Qixi with it.
She then lay down on her side next to Su Qixi, looking at her face which looked so obedient when she was asleep.
Lin Mo reached out and gently touched her. “Sleep,” she whispered.
She glanced at her watch. It was already past noon. Since Su Qixi didn’t want to go out, she would have to go buy some lunch.
She got up and prepared to leave, only to notice the bubble tea at the entrance of the tent. It was half empty. Su Qixi must have drunk it earlier.
It had only one straw.
But given their current relationship, something like this was no longer a cause for embarrassment.
When Lin Mo was stopped by reporters at the entrance of the movie theater, she was genuinely surprised.
Perhaps seeing that Su Qixi wasn’t with her, and considering Lin Mo was just a civilian, the reporters lost their inhibitions and rushed forward to interview her.
“Miss Zhu, the ends of your hair are wet. Did you just take a shower?”
Lin Mo chuckled. She looked at the reporter and asked, “The way the world works is truly an eye-opener for me. What? Do I have to publicly explain whether I took a shower or not?”
The reporter was stunned, and her face flushed with embarrassment. She stammered, “This is a movie theater. It’s strange for you to be taking a shower here!”
The explosive popularity of the “Qilin” couple had created a large group of people trying to piggyback on their fame—reporters, online creators, and live streamers were all trying to push the boundaries.
For reporters, if they could hint at something scandalous about the two, they knew their articles would get views. Even the CP fans would help promote their websites, making it a profitable business.
And online creators loved editing “Qilin” CP videos. With so much material from the live stream, their videos always went viral.
In short, the online buzz about the “Qilin” couple was at an all-time high. When Lin Mo was alone, it was inevitable that someone would try to get an interview.
They didn’t expect Lin Mo to be so blunt.
“Don’t find it strange. If something exists, there’s a reason for it.”
After all that, she still didn’t say whether she had taken a shower or not.
A few reporters crouched there, waiting. After a while, Lin Mo returned with a bag of food.
Realizing they wouldn’t get any more information, they just took a few photos, which they would post online with a misleading headline. The truth didn’t matter; others would fill in the blanks.
When Lin Mo returned, Su Qixi was awake, sitting in the tent with a blank expression.
Seeing Lin Mo, she smiled and asked, “Where did you go?”
Lin Mo held up the bag. “I went to get food. Get up and eat.”
Su Qixi joined her at the coffee table. Lin Mo had bought a tray of grilled fish from a nearby restaurant.
Su Qixi started the movie again, “Never Disappeared.”
The two of them sat around the coffee table, eating the hot grilled fish and watching Su Qixi’s other life on the screen.
Su Qixi was in a good mood and went to open a beer, but Lin Mo stopped her. Lin Mo said helplessly, “You have to drive.”
Su Qixi: “…”
In the end, she didn’t get to drink the beer. Lin Mo gave her a bottle of soda instead.
Su Qixi chugged the soda and said, “If Sister Xiong scolds me, I’ll just tell her you gave it to me.”
Lin Mo could only accept the suggestion with a helpless laugh. “Okay, okay.”
Su Qixi smiled triumphantly. See? It’s so wonderful to love someone and be loved in return.
They returned to the “Ink Guest House” just in time for dinner. Lin Mo had packed some food for the others on the way back.
The cast, who hadn’t started cooking yet, looked at the car full of food and smiled gratefully.
After dinner, Director Feng came to find Lin Mo and told her that the mother and daughter would be coming the next day.
“Probably around lunchtime. Be prepared. Qiu Mingyi and Qi Youxuan have also prepared some commendation banners for you.”
Qiu Mingyi had gotten home last night, had a late start today, and had only just heard that the mother and daughter would be coming the next day.
Seeing that everyone was informed, Director Feng told them to go rest.
The next day, just as the sky began to lighten, Lin Mo woke up early.
Having nothing else to do, she washed up and went downstairs. The house was empty. She began preparing the things needed to open the shop.
She opened the fridge to make breakfast and saw that Jiang Lun had bought a lot of frozen steamed buns during his last supply run. Lin Mo was feeling lazy, so she simply put them in the steamer.
With breakfast being simple, Lin Mo was free again.
She walked into the main hall and saw the chessboard on the table by the door. It was probably put there by Yun Yue and Li Xinling last night to pass the time. Lin Mo walked over to take a look, a small smile on her face.
The white pieces had the advantage.
“The white pieces were played by Yun Yue.”
Qi Youxuan had come downstairs without Lin Mo noticing. She stood behind her and looked at the board, a smile on her face. “Her chess skills have improved quite a bit these past two days.”
Lin Mo was curious. “You’ve been paying attention?”
Qi Youxuan didn’t answer directly. Instead, she said to Lin Mo, “I’m leaving soon.”
Lin Mo was stunned. “What do you mean? Didn’t you sign a contract?”
Qi Youxuan just smiled. “It’s a secret.”
Lin Mo was not an overly curious person. Since Qi Youxuan wasn’t telling her, she didn’t press for details.
Qi Youxuan seemed frustrated. “You’re really something. I tell you nothing, and you don’t even ask.”
Lin Mo smiled faintly. “If you wanted to tell me, you would. I don’t need to ask.”
Qi Youxuan sighed helplessly. She crouched down in front of the board, studied it for a moment, then picked up a black piece and placed it in an important corner. She smiled softly and asked, “Lin Mo, what do you think of this move?”
Lin Mo: “Very good. You’ve successfully reversed the game.”
Qi Youxuan laughed. She looked back at her. “Right?”
Her eyes were bright, and she seemed very happy.
Even though… she was leaving soon.
“Is Yi Mei’er coming today?” Qi Youxuan asked with curiosity.
Lin Mo looked at her, then reached for a white piece and placed it on the board. “Maybe.”
The moment the white piece landed, the situation changed dramatically once again.
Qi Youxuan muttered, “Truly an unexpected move.”
