Chapter 38: An Alpha in Rut Will Possess Her Completely
Xing Xiaochu’s ears perked up instantly, her eyes widening. “A gift? What gift?”
She had assumed the cake was the only surprise.
Qi Ying offered a mysterious smile, set down her things, and brought over Xiaochu’s presents.
“This is the contract from the record company. They sent over a demo track. If you like it, we’ll sign it, and you can find some time to go and record a song.” Qi Ying sat on the living room sofa, pulling Xiaochu down beside her. She opened her phone and started playing the demo.
The melody wasn’t intense; it was gentle and lingering, like a soft love song. There were no lyrics yet, just the chorus melody. Xiaochu’s eyes went wide as she looked at Qi Ying in disbelief. “This song… is for me?”
Qi Ying nodded, smiling. “Do you like it?”
Xiaochu nodded frantically.
“Good. Once you sign the contract, this song is yours.” Qi Ying handed her a black sign pen and guided her where to sign her name on the music contract.
It was the most precious birthday gift Xiaochu had ever received. She asked Qi Ying to send the demo to her phone, and Qi Ying happily obliged before reaching behind her for the second gift.
“The temperature is going to drop soon, so you can wear the clothes I made for you when you go out.” Qi Ying placed a gift box on Xiaochu’s lap. “Open it and see if you like it.”
Inside the purple box lay a leather trench coat.
The design was elegant and sleek. This was yet another of many handmade pieces Xiaochu had received from Qi Ying, but as she looked at the beautiful garment, her eyelashes trembled. The excitement she had shown moments ago vanished, leaving Qi Ying surprised.
“What’s wrong?” Qi Ying asked with concern. “Do you not like the gift?”
Xiaochu shook her head. She bit her lip, set the box aside, and stood up. “Sister, I have something for you too.”
She ran quickly into her room and returned with a somewhat crumpled paper bag.
Qi Ying looked at the bag curiously. “What’s this? For me?”
Xiaochu nodded, her face flushing a deep red. She shyly pulled out a brown plushie and explained in a small voice, “I don’t have much money, so I could only buy a small gift. I hope you don’t dislike it.”
The brown plushie had a zen-like expression with closed eyes. It was adorable. Qi Ying smiled warmly as she took the little thing into her hands. She noticed the price tag was still attached.
It wasn’t expensive.
“I love it,” Qi Ying said softly. “This is the first gift you’ve ever given me. I’ll treasure it.”
Xiaochu’s blush deepened, and her eyes sparkled with joy.
After trying on the trench coat—which fit perfectly—they sat down for dinner. Qi Ying brought out the cake, prompted Xiaochu to make a wish, and snapped several photos of her.
Wearing her birthday hat and with hands clasped, Xiaochu took a long time to formulate her wish. It had been so long since she had celebrated a birthday, and she made this wish with the utmost sincerity.
I hope to stay with Sister Qi Ying forever.
When Xiaochu opened her eyes, she saw Qi Ying through the flickering candlelight. The orange glow danced across Qi Ying’s features; her eyes were bright and full of warmth as she watched Xiaochu.
“Finished your wish?” Qi Ying asked.
“Mmh.” Xiaochu nodded shyly, looking at the candles shaped like the number 18. “Can I blow them out?”
“Of course.”
With a soft whoosh, the candles went out. The living room plunged into darkness, illuminated only by the neon lights from the floor-to-ceiling windows. Xiaochu’s heart hammered against her ribs. In the dark, she felt a strange tension, and the mellow scent of green plum wine seemed to thicken.
A second later, the lights flicked back on. The heavy scent dissipated instantly. Qi Ying walked over, smiling. “Let’s eat the cake.”
The cake was delicious, filled with fresh fruit. Xiaochu cut a piece for Qi Ying before serving herself. As she picked up her plate, a bit of white cream got on her finger. She blinked at the smudge, looked at Qi Ying, and—emboldened by the occasion—reached out and swiped it onto Qi Ying’s cheek.
Qi Ying: “?”
Xiaochu’s eyes crinkled in a mischievous smile. She dipped her finger in the cream on her plate again and added another dab, giggling. “You look so cute like this, Sister.”
Qi Ying was momentarily stunned. But as she watched Xiaochu’s radiant, laughing face, a sudden restlessness ignited within her. It was as if a fire had been smoldering in her heart, and Xiaochu’s playful touch had just turned it into an inferno.
She grabbed Xiaochu’s wrist before the girl could pull her hand back.
The chair made a sharp screech against the floor as Qi Ying pulled Xiaochu toward her. Startled, Xiaochu worried she had accidentally annoyed her, but then she saw Qi Ying lower her gaze to the cream-stained fingertips. Slowly, Qi Ying extended her tongue.
Her warm tongue curled around Xiaochu’s finger. Xiaochu’s eyes went wide as she felt Qi Ying licking her skin while maintaining a firm grip on her wrist.
“Si… Sister…”
Panic set in. The air was suddenly saturated with a thick, heavy scent—an explosion of pheromones that turned the room into a haze of alcohol and plum.
Qi Ying was oblivious. Her pink tongue was meticulously tasting Xiaochu’s hand, from the slender fingertips to the warm palm. Xiaochu’s hand was soon wet and shivering. She looked up and saw Qi Ying staring at her with predatory intensity.
Qi Ying inhaled the sweet scent of osmanthus from Xiaochu, which now mingled with the smell of the alcohol, creating a heady, intoxicating “Osmanthus Wine” aroma.
“Xiaochu,” Qi Ying whispered, her voice husky. “You smell so good.”
In the next moment, Qi Ying dropped her piece of cake—it hit the floor with a wet thud. Before Xiaochu could even process the loss of the dessert, she was pulled forcefully into Qi Ying’s embrace.
“Sister! Sister, wait!”
Xiaochu panicked. She realized Qi Ying’s Rut had fully arrived. She had noticed the instability earlier but assumed someone as mature as Qi Ying could handle it. She hadn’t expected a total breakdown of control.
Qi Ying’s pheromones were intoxicating. Within seconds, Xiaochu’s head felt heavy, her strength drained, and her body began to burn with an unnatural heat.
She was being forced into Heat by Qi Ying’s pheromones.
By the time she was pushed back onto the sofa, Xiaochu’s consciousness was fading. Qi Ying pinned her shoulders and leaned down, capturing her pink lips. Her tongue forced its way into Xiaochu’s mouth, tangling with hers in a fierce, demanding kiss.
“Mmh…”
Xiaochu tried to push against Qi Ying’s shoulders, but she was too weak. The corners of her eyes were red. Qi Ying was kissing her with a desperate hunger, as if trying to devour her.
“Sister… mmh… Sister, don’t…”
Her voice was thick with fear. During a brief gasp for air, she tried to shove Qi Ying away. She knew where this was heading, and she was terrified. In her heart, her first kiss and her first time shouldn’t be like this.
But Qi Ying, having lost her sanity to the Rut, couldn’t comprehend Xiaochu’s fear. One hand pinned Xiaochu’s wrists above her head while the other roamed over her slim, pale waist.
Qi Ying knew it was thin—she had seen it many times—but the reality of touching it was different.
Xiaochu was crying.
She struggled beneath Qi Ying like a fish out of water. Her legs tangled and kicked, her loose trousers shifting to reveal her rounded knees. Qi Ying continued to kiss her while her hand moved toward the curve of her hips.
Slap!
Qi Ying stopped abruptly. Her cheek stung with a searing heat.
The shock brought a sliver of clarity. She withdrew her hand from under Xiaochu’s clothes and propped herself up, staring at the girl who was now a sobbing mess. Her mind went blank.
Just as Qi Ying had been moving to lift her shirt, her grip had loosened slightly. Xiaochu had wrenched a hand free and delivered a stinging blow to Qi Ying’s face.
“…I’m sorry.”
Qi Ying was horrified by her own actions. Seeing Xiaochu lying disheveled on the sofa, eyes red from crying, she felt a crushing weight of guilt.
How could I do this?
She couldn’t stay in this world a second longer. She had to log out.
Qi Ying stumbled to her feet and fled the room. Xiaochu lay on the sofa, gasping for air, pulling her messy clothes back into place before sitting up. She heard Qi Ying enter her bedroom and slam the door. Silence returned to the living room.
The scent of pheromones was still suffocating. Xiaochu wiped her tears and climbed up. As Qi Ying left, the burning heat in her body began to recede, and she started to think clearly.
Sister Qi Ying… she didn’t seem to know her Rut had come.
Xiaochu looked down at her wrists, which were red from Qi Ying’s grip. For the first time, she realized Qi Ying was a terrifying Alpha. The way she had just forced herself on her left Xiaochu trembling with fear.
I have to run.
Qi Ying was in Rut. As an Omega, she needed to get away. She shouldn’t see her for at least a week. She could sleep in a hotel or on the street—it didn’t matter. She just had to be far from Qi Ying.
CRASH!
A massive sound came from Qi Ying’s room, making Xiaochu jump. She looked at the bedroom door in terror. She knew if she didn’t leave now, she might not get another chance.
An Alpha in Rut would possess her completely.
But…
Xiaochu hesitated, staring at the door. She could still smell the pheromones. Within that heavy scent, she detected a trace of panic and distress. She knew that right now, Qi Ying needed help.
