My Upperclassman Wants me to confess my feelings - Chapter 6
Chapter 6: Sleeping Positions
“Xiaohan?”
“Hmm!”
The gentle touch on her shoulder startled Xiaohan, making her stand up instantly. She turned to meet Cheng Wu’s helpless smile.
Snapping back to reality, she nodded immediately: “No problem, as long as Senior isn’t afraid of it being too crowded.”
Cheng Wu hummed in response and urged her to shower and rest early.
Normally, Xiaohan would never shower or sleep without finishing her problems, but for some reason, she hadn’t thought about her studies at all today.
She took her pajamas into the bathroom, inserted her water card, and turned the knob. Warm water poured down over her head.
Xiaohan closed her eyes, pressing both hands over her heart.
Why was her heart racing so fast?
Seeing Xiaohan come out from the shower, Cheng Wu put away her phone and pointed upward: “Do you usually sleep on the inside or the outside?”
“You choose, Senior. Either is fine with me.” Xiaohan felt her heartbeat acting up again.
After they both climbed up, Xiaohan lay on her side facing the wall, listening as Cheng Wu slowly settled down behind her.
The familiar scent of rosemary enveloped her, making it impossible for Xiaohan to calm her mind.
Scenes from the day flashed through her brain.
The way Senior looked while hosting, the way she looked while rejecting a confession, the way she looked when she took Xiaohan’s hand, and when she leaned down to kiss her
Xiaohan’s shoulders jerked. She covered her face with both hands, feeling the blood rushing upward. Her face was burning, and her head was sweating.
Ningning and Zhao Ru finished their showers one after another, and the dormitory fell into total silence.
Eventually, her powerful biological clock triumphed over her wild thoughts, and she soon fell into a deep sleep.
As the person beside her began to breathe steadily, Cheng Wu, who had been watching Xiaohan, finally felt at ease.
However, she herself couldn’t fall asleep.
Whenever she closed her eyes, the scene from the gala surfaced. Even she didn’t quite understand why she had pulled Xiaohan out back then.
In the darkness, Cheng Wu opened her eyes and quietly gazed at the back of Xiaohan’s head.
At first, Xiaohan had looked frightened, but after leaving the auditorium and seeing people whispering about them, she had bravely taken Cheng Wu’s hand.
Her heart is so simple it’s transparent, Cheng Wu thought. She’s so kind it makes people want to be near her.
Cheng Wu couldn’t help but raise her hand. Just as she was about to touch the hair near Xiaohan’s ear, Ningning’s voice suddenly came from the opposite bed: “Sister Wu.”
The raised hand instantly dropped to her own ear to tidy her hair.
Cheng Wu didn’t turn around, fearing Ningning would notice something was off: “Is something the matter?”
Ningning was leaning against her guardrail, her eyes sparkling in the dark: “Do you like Xiaohan?”
“Don’t you like her too?” Cheng Wu calmed down and quietly rolled over to meet Ningning’s gaze.
The moonlight was unusually bright today. Since Xiaohan’s bunk was right in front of the window, Ningning could see her expression clearly there was nothing unusual.
She asked somewhat dejectedly: “You know what I mean, don’t you?”
Cheng Wu waved her hand: “Get some rest. Don’t let your imagination run wild.”
It was impossible to pry Cheng Wu’s mouth open!
Ningning had no choice but to lie down and sleep.
The room was silent for a while. Just as Cheng Wu had flattened out, Xiaohan suddenly rolled over, wrapped her arms around Cheng Wu’s waist, and unconsciously murmured: “Brother…”
Brother?
Cheng Wu remembered that Xiaohan lived with her mother and was an only child.
Where did a brother come from?
While she was wondering, Xiaohan moved again, leaning against Cheng Wu’s shoulder.
The fragrance of shampoo immediately filled her nose.
Normally, Cheng Wu didn’t like people sticking so close to her, but when it was Xiaohan, she didn’t feel any resistance; instead, it felt quite comfortable.
Xiaohan moved once more. Cheng Wu lifted her arm, and the little girl fell completely into her embrace.
The corners of Cheng Wu’s lips curled up. She tilted her head against the top of Xiaohan’s and fell peacefully asleep.
…
When the morning sun filtered in, Cheng Wu slowly opened her eyes. She saw Xiaohan hugging her tightly, seemingly still dreaming, letting out a couple of murmurs.
Filled with helpless affection, Cheng Wu closed her eyes to rest, waiting for Xiaohan to wake up.
A moment later, Xiaohan slowly woke. Before she even opened her eyes, she felt something was wrong.
She seemed to be nestled in Senior’s arms, pillowed on Senior’s arm.
Half of her face was pressed against Senior’s chest…
Xiaohan’s whole body stiffened. She sat up instantly. Before she could even look down at the situation, she saw Ningning on the opposite bed, clutching a pillow and staring at them with a thoughtful expression.
Startled, Xiaohan scrambled toward the foot of the bed.
Hearing the commotion, Cheng Wu opened her eyes. She propped her head up languidly and smiled at Ningning: “What are you looking at, Little Ningning? You look so entranced.”
Sensing a hint of danger, Ningning quickly hid her face with her pillow and lay back down: “Nothing, just spacing out.”
After sitting up, Cheng Wu saw Xiaohan huddled in the corner. She couldn’t help but sigh: “Don’t overthink it. That’s just how Ningning is.”
Xiaohan hugged her arms uneasily and whispered: “I didn’t know I was such a bad sleeper. I didn’t crush you, did I? Ningning must have never seen someone with such bad sleeping habits.”
“It’s fine. Let’s get up.” Cheng Wu couldn’t help but laugh; this silly girl’s train of thought really was different.
…
Cheng Wu went to the balcony to brush her teeth. Zhao Ru also brought her cup over and brushed alongside her.
“I came back so late yesterday because so many people were hounding me for gossip about you and Fan Jia.”
Cheng Wu’s hand paused: “Was anyone asking about Xiaohan?”
Zhao Ru turned to look at her: “Yes. Li Ya.”
“Her…” Cheng Wu put down her water cup. It seemed Li Ya knew something.
Soon, Cheng Wu went to her wardrobe, picked out a white dress, and—contrary to her usual style—applied light makeup.
After saying goodbye to her roommates, she grabbed her bag and hurried out.
Watching the door close, Xiaohan asked Zhao Ru curiously: “Does Senior have something urgent?”
“Something came up. Don’t worry. The one who lost face yesterday was Fan Jia; everyone is more interested in him,” Zhao Ru comforted her gently.
As Xiaohan finished washing up and came in from the balcony, Ningning greeted her with a bowl of porridge.
Looking past Ningning, she saw a small electric rice cooker on Zhao Ru’s desk next to a jar of Lao Gan Ma.
Ningning pulled her over to Zhao Ru’s side: “A-Ru loves to cook. You were in military training before so you didn’t get a chance to eat it. Since Sister Wu isn’t here today, come eat with us.”
Xiaohan’s first reaction was: “Isn’t the school forbidden from using these kinds of appliances?”
“It is, but we only use it occasionally. A-Ru’s hands were itching to cook today, so we made some multigrain porridge to celebrate the end of your military training.” Ningning pressed her down into a seat and shoved a bowl of porridge into her hands.
After a moment of hesitation, Xiaohan ate it, though she kept glancing toward the door while eating.
The dorm auntie won’t find out, will she?
Halfway through the meal, Xiaohan received a message from her classmate, Ding Ming: Did you solve yesterday’s problem?
Seeing this, she hurriedly finished her porridge and ran to her desk.
There were no calculations on her scratch paper!
Oh no! She forgot to do the math!
Xiaohan quickly replied to Ding Ming and started working on the problem.
…
Meanwhile, in Ding Ming’s dorm.
Ding Ming stared at the three solutions in front of him, lost in thought.
With Xiaohan’s IQ, it’s impossible for her not to think of at least one method.
Just as he was wondering, Yang Xing from the next bed came back with breakfast.
He handed the food to Ding Ming and happened to see the chat window with Xiaohan. He immediately raised his eyebrows: “With such explosive things happening yesterday! How could Xiaohan possibly have time for math!”
“What happened?” Ding Ming turned around, confused.
Yang Xing stroked his non-existent beard and looked at Ding Ming enigmatically: “My goddess confessed to Xiaohan. She probably couldn’t sleep all night from excitement.”
“You have many goddesses. Which one?” Ding Ming recalled Yang Xing’s phone gallery.
“Senior Cheng Wu! She’s in the same dorm as Xiaohan!” Yang Xing looked at him like he was a lost cause, glanced at the desk full of scratch paper, shook his head, and went to eat.
…
In less than an hour, Xiaohan took a photo of her solution and sent it over.
Ding Ming quickly replied with three photos and a message: I have three logic paths here. The book says there are four in total; we’re missing one. Want to brainstorm together?
Xiaohan readily agreed.
The fourth solution was finally figured out by Ding Ming in the late afternoon.
Looking at the calculation process he sent, Xiaohan replied: You’re really amazing!
Ding Ming replied quickly: You’re pretty amazing too. I just spent more time on it than you did.
This sentence made Xiaohan blush slightly. Was he saying I wasn’t being focused?
While she was scratching her head, Cheng Wu pushed the door open, looking a bit unhappy.
Only Xiaohan was in the dorm, so she asked: “Xiaohan, where’s Zhao Ru?”
Xiaohan turned around quickly: “Senior Zhao Ru and Ningning left. They bought train tickets for this afternoon.”
After closing the door, Cheng Wu walked to the wardrobe and pulled off her white dress, startling Xiaohan into looking down immediately.
While changing, Cheng Wu asked: “Tomorrow is National Day. Why aren’t you leaving?”
“My home is very close, and there’s no one there anyway. I plan to go back tomorrow.” Xiaohan thought about her brother coming back tomorrow, her face lighting up with a smile.
“That’s perfect. I’m leaving tomorrow too, to see a friend.” Cheng Wu wiped off her light makeup and reapplied the style she preferred.
At dusk, Xiaohan intended to order takeout, but Cheng Wu said someone was treating them and insisted on bringing her along.
At a hotpot restaurant outside the campus, Xiaohan saw a familiar face.
Sun Wenze was still dressed flashily. Seeing them, he hurried over to greet them.
“You two are finally here! Quick, quick! Please come inside!”
Following Sun Wenze upstairs and into a private room, they saw a beautiful girl sitting inside.
Cheng Wu raised an eyebrow: “Is this your new girlfriend?”
“Look what Sister Cheng is saying!” Sun Wenze coughed twice and skillfully took the girl’s hand. “Her name is Zhou Weiwei, my girlfriend, a junior from the Finance department.”
Then Sun Wenze introduced them to Zhou Weiwei: “This is Senior Cheng Wu from Management, and Little Sister Xiaohan from Mathematics.”
After Zhou Weiwei greeted Cheng Wu, she reached out to Xiaohan: “Hello.”
For some reason, Xiaohan felt this girl was a bit strange. She hadn’t shaken hands with Cheng Wu, but she wanted to shake hands with her.
It felt like she was a little afraid of Senior Cheng Wu.
Was it just an illusion?
Out of politeness, Xiaohan reached out.
Nearby, seeing this, the corners of Cheng Wu’s mouth curled slightly as she quietly observed Zhou Weiwei: This girl is quite interesting.
The dinner was officially Sun Wenze’s way of apologizing to Cheng Wu and Xiaohan.
However, Xiaohan wasn’t much of a talker, and Zhou Weiwei was very quiet, leaving only Sun Wenze to chatter incessantly to Cheng Wu.
