My Upperclassman Wants me to confess my feelings - Chapter 25
Chapter 25: Suppression
In the classroom, Xia Xiaohan stared blankly at her scratch paper. Could Sun Wenze’s suggestion really work?
While she was lost in thought, both the front and back doors were pushed open simultaneously. However, the front door opened with a loud bang, causing Xia Xiaohan to instinctively look toward it.
A girl with yellow hair stood at the doorway, scanning the classroom aggressively. “Who is Xia Xiaohan?”
The girl’s gaze quickly landed on Xia Xiaohan; after all, there were only eight people in the classroom, and she was the only female student.
Xia Xiaohan had just stood up and hadn’t yet spoken when Cheng Wu’s voice came from behind her.
“What do you want with Xiaohan?”
Turning around, she saw Cheng Wu walking over carrying milk tea. Though there was a smile on her face, it carried an edge that inspired fear.
The yellow-haired girl froze. She naturally recognized Cheng Wu and immediately forced a smile. “Oh, it’s Senior Cheng Wu. You know Xia Xiaohan?”
Glancing at the bewildered Xia Xiaohan out of the corner of her eye, she suddenly remembered something. Cheng Wu had a junior with whom she was very close, also named Xiaohan.
Could it be this one?!
Cheng Wu stopped beside Xia Xiaohan and placed the milk tea on the desk. She ignored the girl and instead reached out to cover the back of Xiaohan’s hand; it was a bit cold.
She frowned. “Didn’t you wear an extra sweater today?”
“I saw the weather forecast said today’s temperature would be a bit higher than yesterday’s,” Xiaohan whispered back.
“Take a few sips to warm your body first.” Cheng Wu took out the milk tea and inserted the straw.
Smelling the familiar custard aroma, joy sparked in Xiaohan’s eyes. “It’s Lava Egg Custard!”
Cheng Wu looked at the milk tea with a smile, then met Xiaohan’s eyes. “It turns out you also like what I like.”
Xiaohan blushed and nervously scanned the classroom. Finding that everyone else was looking at her Senior and no one was paying attention to her, she felt relieved.
The girl at the door prepared to leave quietly, but just as she turned, Cheng Wu called out, “Wait, there’s something I want to clarify with you.”
Cheng Wu walked out of the classroom and closed the front door. Sizing up the nervous girl before her, she spoke slowly: “You’re the girlfriend Sun Wenze started dating a week ago, right?”
“Yes, yes, yes,” the yellow-haired girl nodded obsequiously.
She was well aware of Cheng Wu’s status in Sun Wenze’s heart; she had always been a presence that transcended all his previous girlfriends. Offending Cheng Wu was equivalent to being served a breakup notice.
Her hair had been dyed just a week ago, she was wearing a Peacebird plaid suit, her lipstick was Armani shade 999, and most importantly, she wore a Cartier Love series ring on her right middle finger.
Cheng Wu retracted her gaze and asked the girl, “Sun Wenze bought this entire outfit for you yesterday, didn’t he?”
The girl was stunned. “How did the Senior know?”
“It’s nothing. Every time Sun Wenze buys a set like this for his current girlfriend, it means he plans to break up in three days.”
Cheng Wu looked at the ring on her finger again. “Normally, before a breakup, he buys an outfit, a lipstick, and a white gold ring. He bought you Cartier worth over twenty thousand; he’s likely compensating you since you’ve been with him for less than two weeks.”
Hearing this, the girl’s face turned pale. She knew about the “pre-breakup gifts.” But this time, Sun Wenze had bought a Cartier ring ten times more expensive; she had thought she was different in his heart. The girl pressed her right hand over the ring, deeply unsettled.
Having finished the necessary prologue, Cheng Wu got to the point: “Since you’ve accepted his gift, you should know what’s coming. Don’t go around suspecting someone stole Sun Wenze away; it’s simply that he doesn’t like you anymore.”
“No! It can’t be!” The girl refused to believe it, turning to look inside the door. “It must be Xia Xiaohan! It’s her—”
Cheng Wu grabbed her hand and pinned her against the wall, correcting her coldly: “You know in your heart whether it’s Xiaohan or not! Don’t stubbornly assume someone else interfered just because he’s lost interest in you!”
Fear and shock mixed in the girl’s eyes as she stared at Cheng Wu, her vision blurring.
Releasing her, Cheng Wu walked to the door and glanced sideways at the girl. “Xiaohan is mine. Sun Wenze has the desire but not the guts; he wouldn’t dare make a move on her. His breakup has nothing to do with Xiaohan!”
Pushing the door back open, Cheng Wu immediately saw Xia Xiaohan standing on her tiptoes, peering out the window.
Caught!
Xiaohan quickly turned around and stood up straight, her hands clasped behind her back like a child who had done something wrong, her head lowered guiltily.
Scanning the classroom, Cheng Wu noticed that except for Ding Ming and Yang Xing, everyone else was looking at them. She looked back at Xiaohan and asked, “Is your homework done? Let’s head back together.”
“Almost.” Xiaohan felt as if a great weight had been lifted.
As she moved between the desks, she accidentally tripped over a stool leg bolted to the floor.
Cheng Wu immediately raised her hand to warn her, “Careful!”
As her body fell forward, Xiaohan braced herself against the desk and waved her hand at Cheng Wu. “I’m fine, I’m fine! It’ll just be a moment.”
Quickly packing her things, she followed Cheng Wu out of the classroom.
The two walked down the corridor of the department building. The sound of high heels repeatedly triggered the motion-sensor lights; their shadows lengthened and shortened, then shortened and lengthened again in the light.
“You heard everything just now?” Cheng Wu watched Xia Xiaohan holding the milk tea with both hands, sucking on the straw and biting it occasionally.
Xiaohan let go of the straw; the tip was covered in shallow tooth marks, and her lips were coated in a layer of glistening moisture, causing Cheng Wu’s gaze to deepen.
The distressed Xiaohan didn’t notice her Senior’s gaze at all; she only heard the last sentence: His breakup has nothing to do with Xiaohan?
Had she been dragged into someone else’s relationship drama? But she clearly only liked—
Xiaohan stopped abruptly and blinked. Just as she was about to turn her head, she was hugged from behind by Cheng Wu.
“Don’t speak. Let me calm down.” Cheng Wu gripped Xiaohan’s waist tightly, her strength increasing as if she wanted to press the girl into her own body.
The familiar scent of the girl’s body soothed Cheng Wu’s restless heart, and after a long while, she gradually calmed down.
…
Two minutes earlier.
Cheng Wu’s gaze had gradually solidified. Xiaohan’s pink, cherry-like lips carried a moist luster, like the apple that tempted Adam and Eve, inviting her to take a bite.
A desire that had been silent for a long time was suddenly stirred. Cheng Wu’s eyes grew darker and darker. She involuntarily slowed her pace, falling one step behind Xiaohan.
The innocent and ignorant girl was still tilting her head, lost in thought. Even though she couldn’t see those enticing lips, Cheng Wu couldn’t suppress it. She uncontrollably raised her hand, but accidentally saw Sun Wenze appear at the end of the corridor.
She pushed her hand down and pulled Xia Xiaohan into her embrace.
The cold wind leaking through the window gaps stirred their hair. In the silent corridor, the sound vanished, and the lights gradually went out.
At the end of the corridor, Sun Wenze leaned behind the corner and swallowed. What was Sister Cheng trying to do just now?
When he had peeked out, he saw Cheng Wu hugging Xia Xiaohan. Although it was normal for girls to hold hands or hug, hugging from behind… The light hadn’t been bright, but Sun Wenze saw clearly Cheng Wu’s eyes were as dark as the night, as if she wanted to devour Xia Xiaohan.
After hesitating, Sun Wenze slowly peeked out again, only to lock eyes with Xia Xiaohan’s panicked gaze.
He quickly pulled back and checked his phone; it was a message from Cheng Wu telling him to manage his girlfriend. He had called his girlfriend to understand the situation and then rushed to the Math department. Seeing this scene, Sun Wenze suddenly remembered that Sister Cheng liked girls.
So the one she likes is
In the corridor, Xiaohan bit her lower lip. Her hands were pinned down by her Senior, making it impossible to move easily. Looking up, she saw a pair of eyes pop out at the end of the hall. Xiaohan was startled and spoke up nervously, “Senior, someone’s here. Let’s go back, okay?”
“I know.” Cheng Wu’s face was buried in the crook of Xiaohan’s neck, her voice suppressed to a raspy whisper.
Xiaohan felt her Senior’s breathing becoming increasingly rapid and couldn’t help but get nervous. “Senior, what’s wrong?”
Hearing the fear in her tone, Cheng Wu slowly let go. She turned and leaned against the wall, her hand propping up her forehead, her falling hair hiding her expression. “Sorry, I scared you.”
“No, it’s fine!” Xiaohan didn’t dare turn around; her Senior’s mood was very unstable, which made her a bit afraid.
She didn’t know how long she waited before gathering the courage to turn around, only to see her Senior standing behind her, smiling. “Let’s go back.”
When they reached the corner, naturally, no one was there. Cheng Wu glanced at the wall where some plaster had been rubbed off, said nothing, and led Xiaohan downstairs.
…
Walking through the campus, Cheng Wu took a sip of the milk tea. The sticky, creamy, and smooth texture was a taste she liked very much. She actually loved spicy and sweet food, but to avoid acne and weight gain, she insisted on never touching them.
Cheng Wu took a large, retaliatory gulp and asked, looking at the road ahead, “Xiaohan, do you like Lava Egg Custard?”
“I do!” Xiaohan usually didn’t drink milk tea or eat snacks. She had only started doing so after following Ningning at school.
Lava Egg Custard was what her Senior had ordered when she met Fan Jia; Xiaohan had noticed her Senior liked it then. Once, she passed a milk tea shop and bought three cups. It turned out that except for her, who thought it was delicious, Ding Ming and Yang Xing had both said it was “okay” quite reluctantly. It was very sweet and cloying, yet Xiaohan liked it for some reason.
“You really like it?” Cheng Wu stopped.
After walking a few steps, Xiaohan stopped and turned back, smiling brilliantly. “Really! I like everything Senior likes.”
…
The weather grew colder, and on the 22nd, a light snow fell.
In the classroom, Xiaohan would calculate for ten minutes and then stop to rub her hands together. Beside her, Yang Xing, sporting dark circles under his eyes, glared at the air conditioner and said resentfully, “It’s bad enough they make us prepare for the finals, but they won’t even turn on the heat!”
Xiaohan had no choice but to repeat her explanation: “It just broke yesterday. The teacher said someone would come to fix it today.”
As soon as she finished speaking, a knock sounded at the door of the small classroom.
Knock, knock, knock!
“Is anyone there?”
Hearing the voice, Xiaohan stood up abruptly, ran over in surprise, and threw open the door.
In her sight was a tall, thin young man with handsome features and gentle eyes. Seeing Xiaohan, the young man lifted the gift in his hand. “Xiaohan, I’ve come to see you.”
Light burst into Xiaohan’s eyes, and she threw herself directly into his arms, shouting, “Brother! You finally came to see me!”
