My System, My Wife Feng Aotian [Transmigration] - Chapter 50.1
Feng Jue tucked the flower into her hair.
The crimson blossom, resembling a peony with scarlet petals and golden stamens, nestled among her thick, jet-black hair, emitting a subtle fragrance. Feng Jue gently touched the petals with her pale fingers and smiled sweetly at 03. “Do you like it?”
“It’s beautiful!” 03 immediately gave a thumbs-up.
Feng Jue nodded in satisfaction, rose, and moved behind 03 to check her appearance in the Nine Heavens mirror, growing even more pleased.
“I have something for you too,” she murmured, retrieving a fine gold mesh net and 03’s Physical Data Bead from her Storage Ring. Intrigued, 03 watched as Feng Jue placed the Barbie Ball into the net and tightened the opening.
The silvery-white bead was completely enveloped in the golden threads, shimmering with a luminous glow. The intricate gold mesh draped over Feng Jue’s pale fingertips, while vibrant gemstones, carved into intricate patterns of flowers and beasts, were threaded through the mesh beneath the bead.
Noticing the emptiness at 03’s waist, Feng Jue asked about the jade pendant. 03 hastily explained that he had put it away, but she merely hummed in acknowledgment and fastened the beaded ornament to his waist.
The golden gauze rustled with each of 03’s movements. He grinned. “It looks beautiful!”
Behind them on the soft daybed, Lingshi struggled to free itself from its bindings. Once released, it transformed back into its original form and slithered over, wrapping itself around Feng Jue and 03, its head rubbing affectionately against their bodies.
The Jiao Dragon also wanted to look good!
Neither Feng Jue nor 03 anticipated Lingshi’s sudden enthusiasm, and they found themselves pressed tightly together. 03 let out an “Aiya!” as her chin bumped Feng Jue’s forehead. She quickly rubbed Feng Jue’s forehead and said, “Sorry.”
Feng Jue, both flustered and annoyed, snapped, “Lingshi!”
She had originally kept half a step away from 03, but now, trapped by Lingshi, she was enveloped by the dragon’s icy-cold breath mingling with the rich, lingering floral scent. The suffocating heat surrounding them flushed Feng Jue’s face crimson. She placed a hand on 03’s shoulder and gently pushed.
“It’s a bit cramped,” 03 said honestly.
“Feng Jue, you’re so soft.”
Feng Jue: “……”
“Ah!” 03 exclaimed again. “Feng Jue, you’re turning red.”
It looked like she was about to catch fire again.
Not only was Feng Jue about to catch fire, she wanted to burn both 03 and Lingshi to ashes! She slapped Lingshi hard and snapped, “Let go already!”
Lingshi roared and released the Jiao Dragon, freeing the two humans. It whimpered and tucked its head under the soft couch cushions, as if hoping Feng Jue wouldn’t find and punish it.
“Do you have any idea how heavy you are? You’re a deadweight,” Feng Jue muttered under her breath, straightening her clothes.
The movement, unexpected in its intimacy, shook the red flowers from Feng Jue’s hair. Soft petals drifted onto her shoulders. Noticing them, 03 quickly picked them up and cupped them in her palm.
After that moment, Feng Jue had no desire to linger. With a curt “Let’s go,” she hurried away. 03 chased after her, cradling the petals, her silver hair swaying and bells jingling.
Lingshi also timidly followed.
Lanzhi, the envoy from Wendao Academy, had been escorted by Siyi to inspect the Grand Competition grounds. Now they arrived at Lanyang Palace. The Spirit Boat landed in the square of Qihuang Peak. Lanzhi descended and exchanged formal greetings with the assembled officials.
Mist drifted lazily from the mountain, brushing against her snow-white skirt. Siyi glanced back, discreetly assessing the woman. Her bearing was dignified, her demeanor scholarly, her aura refined and graceful. Yet her quiet eyes held a curiosity that belied her composed demeanor as they roamed over the palace complex nestled in the mountains.
Siyi turned and said warmly, “Please follow me, Immortal Maiden. The Palace Master will join us shortly.”
Lanzhi immediately averted her gaze and bowed respectfully to Siyi. “Fellow Daoist Siyi need not be so formal. You may call me by name.”
Wendao Academy was the most coveted destination for cultivators across the realm. Those admitted possessed talents and temperaments that were a ten-thousand-to-one find, true geniuses favored by the heavens. Yet as they walked and conversed, Siyi found Lanzhi remarkably courteous and unusually humble, stirring a growing fondness within her.
The group entered the Main Hall.
Shortly after, Feng Jue strode through the grand doors, leading 03 behind her. Instead of taking a seat on the raised platform, she stood with her hands clasped behind her back. Lanzhi bowed respectfully to both of them. Behind them, Siyi raised an eyebrow slightly, thinking to herself: Isn’t she being a bit too deferential?
After rising, Lanzhi smiled and said to Feng Jue, “My Master mentioned you, Junior Sister Apprentice. Now that I’ve seen you in person, I can see that you are truly peerless in grace and utterly extraordinary.”
Feng Jue’s heart stirred. “Your Master is…”
Lanzhi lowered her head respectfully. “My Master is the current Headmaster of Wendao Academy. He studied and cultivated at the Academy alongside Aunt-Master Feng, and their friendship is deep. That’s why he sent me to the Eastern Continent to oversee the Grand Competition.”
Jingxing, the Headmaster of Wendao Academy, was the Dao Venerable Xing Mo—the foremost cultivator under the Heavenly Dao.
The solemn expressions of the Lanyang Palace members deepened as they gazed at Lanzhi with admiration. For her to be accepted as a disciple by Dao Venerable Xing Mo, her cultivation must far surpass their imaginations.
Amidst the respectful gazes, 03, standing behind Feng Jue, tilted her head and asked, “Feng Jue said your Master is very strong.”
Feng Jue turned and shot 03 a warning glance. 03 immediately corrected herself, asking, “Your Master is very strong?”
Lanzhi paused, then replied, “Understanding of the Way comes in its own time. My Master often says that he has simply cultivated for much longer than most.”
“She claims to be strong.”
“Oh,” 03 understood, her experience bar visibly longer than others’.
She then asked, “What about you? Are you strong?”
A glimmer of amusement appeared in Siyi’s eyes as she observed the Palace Master taking deep breaths and 03’s face filled with innocent curiosity. Her lips curled into a smile. Good question, she thought. She’d been wondering the same thing.
Lanzhi humbly replied, “I dare not boast. I entered the world a hundred and fifty years before you, Fellow Daoist, and have only reached the Deity Transformation Stage. Your innate talent far surpasses mine. You’ve already reached the Middle Nascent Soul Stage before your bone age even reached fifty. If we were the same age, your cultivation would undoubtedly far exceed mine.”
“My body is the same age as Feng Jue’s,” 03 stated.
The hall fell silent. No one focused on her peculiar way of describing age; their minds were shaken, and soft sighs escaped them. A Deity Transformation Stage cultivator under two hundred years old, and a Middle Nascent Soul Stage cultivator under twenty-six—both were truly astonishing!
The Elder of Liyang Peak murmured, “Are the world’s geniuses already this remarkable?” The combined age of these two young cultivators was less than her own, yet their cultivation levels already matched hers.
The crowd was deeply moved. Feng Jue, however, remained calm. She had already comprehended the truth that there are always greater heights beyond the heavens, and she possessed the confidence and courage to ascend to the Heavens Beyond Heaven. Moreover, 03—just three days ago, she wasn’t even human.
03 was even calmer than Feng Jue. After hearing Lanzhi’s words, she nodded and said, “Agreed.”
Feng Jue’s heart sounded alarm bells, but 03 continued in a calm, detached tone, “If this body of mine were to reach two hundred years old, I should have already ascended—”
“Whoa.”
03 remained calm, silently finishing the sentence in her mind:
—ascended.
Humans sometimes don’t like hearing the truth, she knew. I’ll do my best to understand.
Feng Jue’s hand relaxed, and she gently stroked 03’s cheek. “There was a smudge of dust here earlier,” she said, her voice gentle and her gaze steady as she met 03’s eyes. “You must have gotten it while gathering flowers in the mountains. You’ve worked hard today. Why don’t you return to your quarters to meditate and regulate your breathing?”
Ah, murderous intent!
03 nuzzled Feng Jue’s hand. Feng Jue’s fingers paused, and a smile curved her lips.
Siyi chimed in, “The seamstress is already waiting in Qihuang Hall.”
Alright, alright, I understand. Humans had their own unique, roundabout ways of speaking. 03 patted Feng Jue, then took her wrist and made her open her hand. She transferred the flower petals she had been holding into Feng Jue’s palm, then reached into her sleeve and retrieved a jade token engraved with the words “Dedicate yourself to the Way, and let your virtue shine.” She placed it in Feng Jue’s hand as well.
“Please keep this safe for me,” 03 said. “Thank you. I’ll be going now.”
Feng Jue transmitted her voice telepathically: “I need to discuss the Grand Competition with Lanzhi and the others. If you’re bored, feel free to go play. You can take Lingshi out.”
“Okay.”
She’s already gone to play.
03 gave Feng Jue a serious smile, then left, sword on her back, head held high and chest puffed out. Feng Jue watched her go, then turned around to see Lanzhi still watching her. Raising an eyebrow, the warmth in her voice from her conversation with 03 vanished. “Senior Sister Apprentice, do you have something to ask me?”
“No,” Lanzhi shook her head. “It’s just… Master only has me as his disciple. Seeing how you interact with 03… it makes me a little wistful.”
Feng Jue tucked the Jade Token into 03’s Storage Ring, planning to return it to her later that evening. “Forgive me,” she said casually. “Her nature is innocent and carefree; I can’t help but look after her. But even though Uncle-Master Jing only has you as his disciple, aren’t there other disciples studying and seeking the Way at the Academy?”
Lanzhi smiled faintly. “True friendship is hard to find.”
Feng Jue’s gaze shifted, and she nodded.
Indeed.
Her bond with 03 went far beyond mere friendship.
Siyi, standing nearby, smiled. “Perhaps after the Eastern Continent Grand Competition, when new disciples are selected to fill the Academy, among them will be a close friend for Senior Lanzhi.”
Lanzhi nodded, and the conversation shifted to the Eastern Continent Grand Competition.
03 found a Jiao Dragon in the square.
Now that she had a human body, she’d never been carried by a Jiao Dragon before. 03 paced around Lingshi’s head, saying, “Please carry me back.”
Lingshi immediately raised its head with a roar!
03 happily climbed onto the Jiao Dragon and shouted, “Giddyap!”
Lingshi shook its head and flew low to the ground, heading straight for Qihuang Hall.
Xue Mengtao was walking along the mountain path, deep in thought.
“Senior Sister Apprentice,” 03 called out, inviting Xue Mengtao onto the Jiao Dragon.
With a flick of its tail, Lingshi suddenly charged into the garden of Qihuang Hall, leaving a path of destruction in its wake. Flowers and branches lay scattered across the ground, petals drifting like rain. Embarrassed, Lingshi raised a claw and timidly nudged the fallen branches.
“Roar.”
Lingshi’s spiritual power had been acting up lately, causing it to wreak havoc.
“You’ve grown stronger and bigger,” 03 said, jumping down from the Jiao Dragon. Together, she and Xue Mengtao set about restoring the garden. After their efforts, the garden looked as if it had merely been drenched by a heavy rainstorm.
“…We could ask Senior Sister Mu to come,” Xue Mengtao suggested quietly. “She has a Wood Spiritual Root. Perhaps she can help.”
03 nodded.
After a moment’s thought, 03 said, “Alright, I’ll come, but I need to go find the seamstress first. I’ll wash this robe and return it to you.”
Xue Mengtao smiled. “Senior Sister Apprentice, please don’t be so formal. Today, you saved me and displayed such incredible prowess on the arena stage. Please, keep the robe.”
Feeling grateful but honest, 03 said, “Thank you, but… this robe doesn’t fit me well. You’re a bit short, and it’s uncomfortable to wear.”
“Oh, I see…” Xue Mengtao paused, then covered her mouth to stifle her laughter. “It seems this robe wasn’t destined for greatness after all.”
Just then, Lingshi let out a soft cry and nudged her head against 03’s hand.
“Huh? You want to wear it?” 03 asked.
“That’s right. Feng Jue mentioned you’ve been focusing your spiritual power to cultivate your human form. Being a monster is hard work too,” 03 said, gently shaking Lingshi’s head. “Then I’ll leave the robe to you. Please thank Xue Mengtao for me.”
Lingshi promptly yipped a thanks to Xue Mengtao.
This time, Xue Mengtao couldn’t suppress her laughter, even with her hand over her mouth. She let it out, laughing heartily while nodding at Lingshi. The composed, mature aura that usually enveloped her vanished, revealing the pure and endearing charm of her youth.
“If Lord Lingshi doesn’t mind,” Xue Mengtao said with a smile, producing a jade tablet from her Storage Ring, “my Master had this delivered to me.”
“What’s this?”
03’s eyes sparkled with curiosity.
Lingshi’s eyes also sparkled.
Xue Mengtao explained, “This is an Image Recording Stone. The scene of today’s match between Senior Sister Apprentice and the Elder of the Scarlet Thunder Sword Sect is recorded on this Spirit Stone. I heard that from now on, every match of the Eastern Continent Grand Competition will be recorded on these stones and sold at the Spectator Platform.”
“It seems to be the Palace Master’s idea.”
“Oh!” 03 gave a thumbs-up. Truly worthy of Feng Jue, to even think of such a money-making scheme. She stared at the Image Recording Stone in Xue Mengtao’s hand. Thinking 03 wanted it, Xue Mengtao hurriedly offered it to her, but 03 shook her head.
If this was Feng Jue’s idea, I won’t charge any copyright fees. Haha!
Xue Mengtao stored the Image Recording Stone in her Storage Ring. “I’ll treasure this stone,” she said. “In a few days, it might become a priceless rarity, impossible to obtain for a thousand gold.”
She winked at 03, smiling with a hint of Siyi’s mischievousness.
03 sighed inwardly once more: Siyi is truly terrifying!
