My Sweet And Submissive Bunny Won't Stop Being Clingy - Chapter 7
Wen Shuyao stood in the rabbit pen for a long time before she slowly managed to recover.
A rabbit’s body was truly troublesome, those short legs meant Meng Hemian caught her every single time. And the sensitivity! Just a simple rub on her back had nearly drowned her in a tidal wave of… desire.
It was all Meng Hemian’s fault. Her skill at petting rabbits was the polar opposite of her actual knowledge about them.
Wen Shuyao desperately wanted to knock on Meng Hemian’s door and tell her: You cannot pet a rabbit like that in the springtime!
But she worried that if she did, Meng Hemian would think rabbits were far too sensitive and difficult to care for, concluding that she shouldn’t even touch them at all.
After all, few animals were like rabbits, capable of “getting pregnant” (pseudopregnancy) just from being petted.
Wen Shuyao pursed her lips, her legs feeling like jelly as she wobbled to the garden. She retrieved a paper bag hidden in the bushes and quietly cracked the door open.
The bag was stuffed to the brim with clothes Tu Shanxiu had given her.
Even though she wasn’t wearing them yet, she felt a strange sense of guilt, as if she were approaching Meng Hemian with an ulterior motive.
That was why, the moment she heard Meng Hemian’s voice, she had instinctively transformed back into a rabbit…
“Wen Shuyao.”
That familiar, calm voice drifted down from upstairs.
Wen Shuyao flinched, hurriedly hiding the paper bag behind her back.
Meng Hemian happened to be coming downstairs just as she saw Wen Shuyao sneaking in through the door. She took a silent measure of the girl, immediately noticing that Wen Shuyao’s face was flushed an unnatural shade of red.
She looked like peach blossoms reflected in rippling spring water, buds just beginning to bloom, delicate and shy. Even her simple white dress didn’t seem so plain anymore.
Did something happen to her?
The thought flashed through Meng Hemian’s mind but was quickly dismissed, she felt she had no standing to pry into Wen Shuyao’s affairs.
“G-good afternoon.”
Wen Shuyao kept her hands behind her back. Though she was greeting Meng Hemian, she pointedly avoided eye contact. Even her voice lacked its usual energy, the trailing notes soft and limp.
For some reason, this appearance reminded Meng Hemian of that rabbit she had just finished petting until it was a pile of fluff.
Meng Hemian stared at her expressionlessly for a few seconds before suddenly asking, “Did something happen today?”
Wen Shuyao’s shoulders trembled. Her legs felt weak again, as if a tingling sensation still lingered at the base of her spine.
She gripped the paper bag tightly and whispered an explanation: “No, why do you ask? I’m just… tired from work…”
“Oh. You seemed distracted.”
Meng Hemian slowly paced down the stairs. “Since you’re so tired, let me treat you to dinner today instead.”
“Eh? No, no need…”
Wen Shuyao waved her hands in refusal, but Meng Hemian was already standing beside her.
Meng Hemian tilted her head, her gaze landing on the paper bag. “Just drop your things on the sofa. You can tidy up when we get back.”
Wen Shuyao dazed for a moment, beginning to wonder if she had already agreed to this. Otherwise, how could this person’s tone be so natural?
Or perhaps, Meng Hemian wasn’t as serious as she appeared on the surface. Maybe she was actually a “Rabbit Overlord” who kidnapped little bunnies to use as stress balls!
While lost in thought, Wen Shuyao placed the bag on the sofa, closed the door, and jogged a few steps to catch up with the woman ahead of her.
Sensing the “little tail” following behind, Meng Hemian intentionally slowed her pace. From the corner of her eye, she saw Wen Shuyao biting her lip in nerves, it looked soft and moist.
The girl had caught up, yet she stopped again, deliberately trailing half a step behind.
The surroundings were quiet, with only the occasional car passing by. The plane tree lined street seemed to stretch on forever.
In the past, Meng Hemian never bothered with making small talk or adjusting the atmosphere, but today, for some reason, she found herself initiating conversation over and over again.
“Don’t feel embarrassed,” she said, her voice softening. “You’ve treated me to so many meals, it’s only right that I return the favor.”
“Besides, we should be considered acquaintances by now, shouldn’t we?”
Wen Shuyao blinked. She took a step forward, drawing level with Meng Hemian, and cautiously peeked at her from the side.
“Then… what are you taking me to eat?”
“We’re eating rabbit…”
Wen Shuyao’s heart, which had just settled, leaped into her throat. Before she could protest, she saw Meng Hemian flash a slight, playful smile as she finished the sentence.
“eating rabbit pudding.”
The glow of the setting sun fell into Meng Hemian’s eyes, making them look bright and gentle.
This was bad. While Meng Hemian was checking the traffic light, Wen Shuyao pressed a hand against her chest.
Thump-thump, thump-thump.
Why was her heart racing like this? It was so frustrating!
Meng Hemian took Wen Shuyao to a very old BBQ restaurant. It had been tucked away at the very end of an alley for as long as she could remember.
Though the location was a bit tucked away, the aroma was incredible, the scent of grilled pork belly could drift all the way to the main street on the wind.
Returning there now, the place was as lively as ever.
As soon as the pork belly hit the iron plate, it began to sizzle and pop with oil, the milky fragrance of the meat constantly stimulating the taste buds.
And the shop’s signature dessert, the White Rabbit Pudding was incredibly cute. With a gentle poke of a spoon, the rabbit-shaped pudding would jiggle with unbelievable elasticity.
Wen Shuyao took a bite, and her eyes lit up. Her mood lifted instantly.
“Is it good?” Now the question was reversed, asked by Meng Hemian.
Wen Shuyao nodded, unable to suppress the smile at the corners of her mouth. “It’s delicious! It’s just… so small…”
It was only enough for two bites.
Meng Hemian raised an eyebrow. “Speaking of small, is that yellowish-brown rabbit not an adult yet?”
Hearing herself being mentioned by Meng Hemian made Wen Shuyao freeze. She slowly pulled back her smile, lowering her head to trace circles on the empty porcelain plate with her spoon.
After hesitating for a long while, she spoke slowly. “No… she’s been an adult for a long time.”
Wen Shuyao seemed to struggle with her wording, her speaking speed slowed down significantly. Fortunately, Meng Hemian didn’t rush her.
“She is actually… a disabled rabbit.”
Wen Shuyao cut off a piece of the pudding; the “little rabbit” was suddenly missing a section.
“Her ears are short, so she can’t hear faint sounds well. She’s small, so she can’t run as fast as the other rabbits.”
She ate the sweet pudding, narrating without emotion. “A rabbit like that can’t survive in the wild. That’s why she was abandoned shortly after she was born.”
Meng Hemian frowned slightly, feeling that something wasn’t quite right.
But Wen Shuyao’s tone shifted. “But she’s very easy to keep. She’s very obedient.”
In the end, she was back to “marketing” the rabbit she liked so much. This actually made Meng Hemian breathe a sigh of relief.
“So it’s just an ordinary wild rabbit? I thought it was a Netherland Dwarf.”
Wen Shuyao looked blank. “Huh?”
Seeing that expression, Meng Hemian guessed she didn’t know much about rabbit breeds. She pulled out her phone and looked up an encyclopedia page.
“Netherland Dwarfs were originally wild rabbits, but after years of selective breeding by humans, they became a stable pet breed. They are cute and gentle, many people like them.”
Meng Hemian showed Wen Shuyao what a standard Netherland Dwarf looked like. Sure enough, it looked very much like the one in the pen, short ears, and a small, rounded body.
Wen Shuyao’s eyes widened. Meng Hemian’s matter of fact tone carried a sense of authority that made people instinctively want to believe her.
“This shouldn’t be considered a disability. It might be a defect for a wild rabbit, but to humans, they are considered extremely cute.”
Wen Shuyao repeated blankly, “Cute?”
She lowered her head and bit her lip. Her ears, hidden beneath her hair, had turned a deep shade of pink.
“Then… would you like her too?”
“Yes.” It was a firm answer.
Wen Shuyao’s heart beat even faster. She suddenly looked up, staring intently at the other woman. “Meng Hemian, have you picked out the rabbit you want yet?”
“Not yet,” Meng Hemian shook her head honestly.
She started counting on the spot. “Besides that yellowish-brown one, there’s one that looks like a panda that I’ve petted. The grey one has very smooth fur, it should feel good to pet, too.”
She concluded, “They’re all quite cute.”
Wen Shuyao: “…”
“Meng Hemian.”
Wen Shuyao sat up straight, as if she were about to discuss a matter of great importance.
Meng Hemian didn’t understand. “Yes?”
The expression on the girl’s face crumbled instantly. Her brows furrowed, looking incredibly aggrieved.
“How can you be so greedy…”
In that moment, Tu Shanxiu’s sneer seemed to echo in Wen Shuyao’s ear: “Cuteness is worthless in the face of sex appeal!”
She really had to try… seduction!
