My Sweet And Submissive Bunny Won't Stop Being Clingy - Chapter 33
Meng Hemian spoke with such candor that Wen Shuyao didn’t find anything strange about it.
Only Bai Xi’s lips twitched slightly: “Well then, I truly wish you two a long and happy marriage.”
As they finished chatting, the ID card was fresh out of the machine.
This small card looked just like a standard ID. In the photo, Wen Shuyao was smiling with her lips pressed together, looking very well-behaved. Only by inserting it into a special machine could one see the hidden demon race information on the back.
Bai Xi remained all smiles: “With this card, you can participate in most human activities.”
This meant that from now on, Wen Shuyao was no longer an “undocumented” resident. She could buy tickets to travel, and even go out to find a job!
Seeing Wen Shuyao looking at the ID card with such novelty, then carefully tucking it away in her bag, Meng Hemian seemed to grow happy along with her.
It was clearly just a common object, yet it felt as if they had found a treasure after a long, arduous journey. Because of it, the future would now extend into infinite possibilities. Or rather, Meng Hemian’s own future would undergo countless unpredictable changes because of Wen Shuyao’s presence.
As the two of them walked out of the Management Bureau, Bai Xi was still waving behind them: “Welcome back next time! Remember to give us a five star review~”
Wen Shuyao naturally reached out to take Meng Hemian’s hand, leaning in to whisper in her ear.
“Aside from getting married, let’s not come back here. I can’t beat any of the demons inside.”
The warm, moist breath brushed against Meng Hemian’s ear, sending a tingle straight to her heart. Or perhaps it wasn’t the breath at all, but simply that Meng Hemian was charmed by her honesty.
She tilted her head: “Then why did you still stand in front of me to protect me?”
“I had no choice. Meng Hemian is just too weak and delicate.”
After saying this, Wen Shuyao gave a tiny sigh. Meng Hemian saw that familiar expression on her face again: Little Bunny is worried about you.jpg
She laughed helplessly and squeezed Wen Shuyao’s hand: “What do you want to eat for lunch?”
Wen Shuyao didn’t hesitate: “Braised pork trotter with rice!”
Meng Hemian pulled out a review app, searched for the nearest restaurant serving pork trotters, and led Wen Shuyao there.
The pork trotters at this shop were stewed until the meat fell off the bone. The fatty parts melted in the mouth, while the lean parts were soft and full of flavor. When the rich, aromatic pork was mixed into the rice, every grain became coated in sauce and oil, making it sticky and enticingly glossy. Paired with some grease-cutting pickled vegetables or chili sauce, every bite was pure satisfaction.
Meng Hemian only took a few bites, giving the rest to Wen Shuyao.
Wen Shuyao never grew tired of it. She finished the entire pork trotter by herself, plus three large bowls of rice. Afterward, she wiped her mouth contentedly, rested her chin on her hands, and asked Meng Hemian, “Where are we going next?”
It was still early, with most of the afternoon left for them to enjoy.
“Uh,” Meng Hemian squinted uncertainly, “Go home and rest?”
After a brief silence, Wen Shuyao spoke in disbelief: “Do you really not know what’s fun to do in Yaocheng?”
From Meng Hemian’s guilty downward glance, Wen Shuyao realized that this person truly knew nothing.
Year-round, Meng Hemian lived a life that was a straight line between the company and home. Outside of that, her life was essentially a harsh, barren desert. In a sense, she was quite a failure for instance, right now, she didn’t even know what to do on a date and had to rely on an app just to find a meal. If word of this got out, people would mock her for a long time.
In the end, it was Wen Shuyao who looked up several “Instagrammable” spots. It really came down to her, the Little Bunny!
She decisively crossed out “Zoo” from the recommended locations and instead took Meng Hemian to museums and snack streets, checked in at famous landmarks, and drank a buy one get one free “Couple’s Combo” at a milk tea shop.
Meng Hemian followed obediently behind, responsible for nodding and paying. She didn’t need to rack her brain for conversation topics. Wen Shuyao could chatter away on her own, possessing an endless supply of vitality.
Even after finishing dinner, Wen Shuyao still had the energy to drag Meng Hemian for a walk in the park.
At this hour, the city’s night view was at its peak. Countless bright buildings and screens formed a forest of light, even more brilliant than the day. The two of them sat on the park steps amidst a large crowd, surrounding an open space.
Meng Hemian didn’t understand: “Are we waiting for something?”
“The musical fountain.”
Wen Shuyao was holding a roujiamo (meat burger). Just as she finished answering, soothing music began to play.
Small clusters of water droplets appeared on the ground, then rose and swirled to the rhythm of the music. Under the glow of the lights, they turned into flowing lines, refracting ever-changing, unpredictable light. Everything here was shrouded in a thin veil of light, hazy and dreamlike.
Meng Hemian never knew there was such a musical fountain in this city. Amidst the gentle, water-like flow of the music, while everyone else was quietly enjoying the performance, Meng Hemian was looking at Wen Shuyao.
The little bunny ate her meat burger in small, dainty bites, watching the scene with rapt attention. She didn’t look away for a second, the lights reflected in the water, but more importantly, they shimmered in her eyes.
The ancients always said that a person looks their best under lantern light, and that saying holds true even in modern times. Simply bathed in the glow of the lights, with the evening breeze gently tousling her stray hairs, Wen Shuyao looked like a watercolor painting with soft, elegant tones.
Suddenly, she looked over and stuffed something into Meng Hemian’s arms.
The latter was caught off guard, scrambling to catch it securely before checking what it was by the dim light.
It was a bracelet, a red string threaded through several silver carrots, its design both cute and exquisite.
“Ta-da! Surprise!” The corners of Wen Shuyao’s mouth curved upward. she lowered her voice, appearing a bit bashful. “I didn’t know if you’d like it…”
She shook her hand, and only then did Meng Hemian notice an identical red string wrapped around Wen Shuyao’s snowy-white wrist. The only difference was that hers featured a silver rabbit.
The music stopped abruptly, and the fountain subsided.
Yet that rabbit, along with Wen Shuyao’s smile, leaped into Meng Hemian’s heart with a “thump,” proving even more lively than a startled deer.
Meng Hemian suddenly felt that Wan Xianyu was right. Her judgment regarding her own preferences had been entirely wrong.
She was weary of a repetitive, boring life, she craved uncontrollable surprises. That was why she had used the excuse of receiving her grandmother’s inheritance to resign, giving herself a chance to step out into the world.
Meng Hemian lowered her eyes and put the bracelet on directly. “Mm, I love it.”
Meeting Wen Shuyao was the greatest surprise of all.
A more passionate, stirring piece of music began to play, and the fountain’s water flow shifted and crisscrossed, pushing toward a grand climax.
As the crowd’s gasps of admiration rose and fell, Wen Shuyao tilted her head and said, “Meng Hemian, you actually prefer the atmosphere from just now, don’t you?”
Though embarrassed to admit it, Meng Hemian nodded anyway.
“I suppose so.”
Things like starlight, music, and hazy lights, those things others might find cliché, aligned perfectly with all her childhood fantasies about love. She still liked them now.
Wen Shuyao rubbed her chin thoughtfully. “Then I understand.”
“Huh?”
Meng Hemian immediately felt a sense of foreboding. Her sixth sense told her that, given the little bunny’s train of thought, whatever she “understood” was bound to be something strange.
She couldn’t help but press further: “Wait, what exactly do you understand?”
Wen Shuyao traced an exaggerated circle in the air with both hands, her smile radiant. “Just wait until we get home. I’ll give you an even bigger surprise!”
In that single moment, Meng Hemian suddenly regretted saying she liked it. Was it too late to take it back?
The two didn’t plan on staying in Yaocheng for long.
The next day, after buying gifts for friends and family, they packed everything up to be mailed back and bought high-speed rail tickets for the return journey.
Because of the existence of a certain “big surprise,” Meng Hemian remained on edge even after arriving home.
However, Wen Shuyao was incredibly well-behaved. Not only did nothing happen, but she even took the initiative to urge Meng Hemian to go to bed early.
Meng Hemian remained skeptical, but the process the following day, handling documents and casually handing out the gifts, went smoothly as well.
The white cat “mercifully” accepted the dried small fish Meng Hemian offered, looking down at her haughtily: “From now on, you’re under my protection, meow.”
Meng Hemian suppressed a smile and lowered her head in agreement.
The experience was so seamless that Meng Hemian almost forgot about the “surprise.”
Until Wen Shuyao invited her to a candlelight dinner.
The cool summer night breeze brought the fragrance of roses. The candlelight flickered in the breeze as well, illuminating only this small dining table.
The atmosphere was certainly dialed up to the max.
Meng Hemian looked down at the steak and vegetable salad on the table, and the alarm bells in her mind also reached maximum volume. Someone didn’t intend to just “eat a meal” otherwise, they wouldn’t have served only two portions of steak!
Faint footsteps sounded.
Wen Shuyao stepped from the darkness into the circle of candlelight.
She was naturally beautiful, even without makeup, her lips possessed a captivating, natural flush. The dim light blurred some of her outlines, but it also made her smile appear even more tender.
After taking her seat, she gave a playful wink: “Dinner? Or…”
The candlelight dinner setup was fine. The opening line was fine. Even her low-cut, waist hugging camisole dress was fine.
But Meng Hemian was stunned.
Her gaze locked onto the black collar around Wen Shuyao’s neck, and she cautiously leaned back.
Then, with great difficulty and a trembling voice, she spoke: “Isn’t this… a bit too advanced?”
