My Sweet And Submissive Bunny Won't Stop Being Clingy - Chapter 13
Wen Shuyao didn’t know how to answer. She stood there blankly, not even blinking.
They say this is exactly how a little bunny looks when it dazes out.
“Her? She likes it so much, she might as well have ‘love at first sight’ written across her face.”
The door curtain lifted, and Tu Shanxiu, dressed in a vermilion qipao, walked in gracefully. She sat on the chair next to Wen Shuyao, looking with amusement at the girl’s reddened earlobes.
Wen Shuyao’s eyes darted around. “Don’t say that…”
She admitted she had a tiny bit of a crush on Meng Hemian.
Mainly because her technique for petting rabbits was very good. And she was a very gentle person.
Tu Shanxiu leaned against the bar counter, her tone playful.
“Maybe in Little Yao’s heart, I can’t even compare to Meng Hemian anymore. If I said one bad word about her, she’d probably jump to her defense immediately.”
The white cat gave a “meow” of agreement.
Wen Shuyao hurriedly defended herself, “That’s not true.”
The beautiful fox suddenly put on a serious face, leaned closer to the white cat, and whispered in a low voice.
“But seriously, I ran into Meng Hemian before. So young, yet so cold faced, she looks like she’d be difficult to get along with.”
Without thinking, Wen Shuyao blurted out: “She only looks fierce, she’s actually very easy to talk to in private.”
The moment the words left her mouth, her shoulders shook. She realized she had walked straight into Tu Shanxiu’s trap. For a moment, she was so vexed she didn’t know what to do with her hands or feet.
“You’re killing me, meow~”
“Oh my, oh my~”
The cat and the fox burst into laughter together, the coffee shop was filled with a merry atmosphere.
The little rabbit was at a loss, pursing her lips, wanting nothing more than to curl up in a corner and hide.
After a while, Tu Shanxiu finished her laugh and began to scan Wen Shuyao up and down. It wasn’t until the latter shrank back that she showed mercy and let her off the hook.
“Alright, no more jokes,” she said, her expression turning serious. “I checked with a senior for you. Unless it’s an exceptional circumstance, do not let anyone touch your original form.”
“Why?” Wen Shuyao’s first reaction was confusion.
Rabbits did have specific biological traits, frequent heat cycles, the tendency for false pregnancies when stimulated…
But humans and rabbits were different. Surely petting a rabbit wasn’t the same as touching a person?
Tu Shanxiu arched an eyebrow in surprise. “As a rabbit demon, you don’t even know this basic common sense?”
Wen Shuyao was a very young demon and hadn’t heard of such things, so she began to feel uncertain.
“No, I know rabbits will… but, can humans really do that too?”
A look of human-like disdain appeared on the white cat’s face, like an elder looking at an ignorant junior.
“When a demon takes human form, they naturally inherit some habits of their original form. They say the last remaining Phoenix is a total ‘love brain’ for romance.”
Wen Shuyao instantly thought of the day she brought an umbrella to Meng Hemian, only to discover she was strangely sensitive to Meng Hemian’s touch.
No way… it couldn’t be true, could it?
“I won’t say much else, meow,” the white cat licked its paw. “The demon who gives their heart first is always the one who gets hurt.”
Tu Shanxiu added her advice: “Exactly. Sister here wants you to bait her, not be baited yourself. Be good, wouldn’t it be better to just leave once we pass the Lightning Tribulation?”
Wen Shuyao was still stuck on the previous topic, her mind a tangled mess of yarn.
To an outsider, she looked stunned, not reacting to anything. Finally, Tu Shanxiu clapped her hands, giving the dazed little rabbit a fright.
With a deep look, she said: “Think about it yourself.”
Wen Shuyao spent the rest of her shift thinking. She was so distracted several times that she almost delivered the wrong orders.
She drifted back home like a wandering soul and, following her usual habit, pushed open the garden gate softly.
Walking along the bluestone path, the renovated rabbit enclosure was in full view, as was the figure squatting in front of it.
She looked lonely, stiff as a stone, radiating an aura that said “keep away.”
The person practically screamed: “If I don’t get to pet a rabbit, I’m going to die.”
Of course, there wasn’t a single rabbit in front of her. Even the nearest grey rabbit was chewing hay two meters away.
Meng Hemian looked like a lonely elderly woman.
Wen Shuyao peeked a few times, suddenly feeling a surge of guilt.
This is too much. It’s one thing to send all the rabbits away, but why didn’t I spend more time with her?
She crept closer, wanting to shift back into a rabbit, but the white cat’s words echoed in her ears: “The demon who gives their heart first is always the one who gets hurt.”
Then Tu Shanxiu’s warning: “Do not let Meng Hemian touch your original form anymore.”
She hesitated.
Meng Hemian let out a very soft sigh, but even such a tiny sound reached Wen Shuyao’s ears.
The images in Wen Shuyao’s mind changed again to Meng Hemian slowly putting on a raincoat in the middle of a storm to check the rabbit hutches for her.
The Meng Hemian who praised her calmly, comforted her warmly, and joked with her.
And most importantly, the Meng Hemian who said, “I can afford it, no matter how much you eat.”
In the next second, the girl at the end of the path vanished, replaced by a fluffy little rabbit.
Her short ears were tucked together, and there was a distinct patch of white on her paws.
The rabbit hopped over to Meng Hemian’s side, looking up to see her tight lips and dark, bottomless eyes.
Without thinking further, she gently approached Meng Hemian’s lowered hand and proactively tucked her head into her palm.
The palm suddenly became warm. Meng Hemian looked down as if waking from a dream.
“Little Bread.”
She picked up the rabbit, and under the bright sunlight, the pale yellow fur seemed to glow.
The rabbit didn’t struggle, meeting her gaze with dark, moist eyes.
Meng Hemian’s tension vanished instantly. She tucked the rabbit into her coat pocket and started walking circles around the garden.
“I failed. The elderly lady said the flavor of the Wisteria cakes I made wasn’t right.”
The rabbit struggled hard, lost in the darkness of the pocket, paws scratching wildly until she finally poked her head out.
Unexpectedly, Meng Hemian reached her hand into the pocket too, rubbing against the rabbit’s soft body.
“Why is that? Everyone else thought they were very similar.”
Wen Shuyao finally understood where Meng Hemian’s despondency came from.
Some people look calm on the surface, but they actually care a great deal.
After all, she had put in so much effort, it was only natural to feel let down if the result wasn’t perfect.
Meng Hemian murmured to herself: “Did I really not inherit any of Grandma’s talent? Not even a little?”
She rubbed the rabbit like it was a ball of wool, going from the ears to squeezing the tail.
“Is Grandma’s craft really going to be lost with me…?”
Wen Shuyao couldn’t answer. She was too busy trying to dodge Meng Hemian’s “ravaging.”
Stop rubbing, stop rubbing! Didn’t we agree to only pet my head?
Meng Hemian circled the yard several times. By the time she pulled the rabbit out of her pocket, the “rabbit ball” had turned into a “rabbit pancake.”
Specifically, an over-moistened pancake, the whole rabbit lay limp in her hand, face buried in her front paws.
Meng Hemian tried to scratch its chin, only for the rabbit to lick her fingers several times in a placating manner.
It was different from being licked by a cat or a dog.
A cat’s tongue has barbs and they aren’t fond of licking people; dogs are too enthusiastic, wanting to lick you everywhere.
The rabbit, however, was just right, damp, slow, and steady.
She couldn’t help but marvel: “So well-behaved.”
The rabbit’s ears twitched, and she turned around to face her bottom toward Meng Hemian.
Naturally, Meng Hemian took the opportunity to give the fur a few more vigorous strokes.
After petting the rabbit, Meng Hemian’s mood improved significantly.
She refilled the water and food in the enclosure and went back to her room to study the notebook her grandmother had left behind.
She had practically memorized the recipe. It wasn’t exactly identical, but according to Wan Xianyu’s feedback, it was at least 70% to 80% there.
But the old lady in the rocking chair had said: “It’s not right… feels like something is missing.”
What exactly was missing? Was it really her fault?
There wasn’t enough feedback. Meng Hemian decided to make more tomorrow and distribute them to the neighbors.
Just as she was about to go downstairs, she heard a rhythmic knock on the door.
Meng Hemian opened it to find Wen Shuyao standing there.
She looked like she had just been fished out of water, her cheeks were flushed, her eyelashes damp, and she was taking small, shallow breaths.
She waited for a moment of silence before speaking in a soft voice: “Meng Hemian, let me teach you how to pet the rabbit.”
Before Meng Hemian could react, Wen Shuyao continued, “That pale yellow rabbit, you can’t rub her too hard, and you absolutely cannot squeeze her tail.”
She spoke very seriously, but with her naturally sweet face, it was hard for people to take her warnings to heart.
She stared gloomily at the seemingly indifferent Meng Hemian: “The rabbit will feel uncomfortable…”
Meng Hemian frowned, feeling like she was about to enter a whole new field of knowledge.
Seeing her reaction, Wen Shuyao bit her lip and spoke with extreme urgency: “She will even get pregnant.”
“Huh?”
Wen Shuyao repeated: “She will get pregnant.”
The sentence flew past like a gust of wind, but its power was immense, blowing Meng Hemian’s mind on the spot.
Wait, what?!
However, Wen Shuyao’s next bit of “scientific” explanation shattered Meng Hemian’s reality.
“It’s not a real pregnancy. If a rabbit is treated like that, she will think she is pregnant and start acting accordingly. It’s called a false pregnancy.”
“So, you can’t pet her like that, okay?”
Meng Hemian tried to digest what she was hearing.
On the surface, she was incredibly calm, but inside, her heart was in chaos.
That’s actually a thing? I really do know too little.
After a long pause, Meng Hemian replied with composure: “I see. Thank you for the reminder.”
Her desire to understand this species had never been stronger.
“My understanding was too shallow. I’ll look up rabbit raising guides tonight.”
Wen Shuyao was startled by her solemn attitude: “It… doesn’t need to be that serious.”
Meng Hemian shook her head: “It’s important. I intend to keep that little rabbit for a long time.”
As she spoke, she saw Wen Shuyao freeze.
This seemed to be the first time she had openly admitted that she wanted to bring “Little Bread” home permanently.
Wen Shuyao said nothing. She was so dizzy from the sudden surprise that she didn’t even know how she made it back to her room.
Wow, going home with Meng Hemian is actually this easy!
The next day, Meng Hemian woke up early and started searching the yard for the rabbit.
She even peeked at the empty garden next door a few times.
“What are you looking for? Do you need help?”
Meng Hemian turned around to find Wen Shuyao, who seemed to be in an exceptionally good mood. Her dress was crisp, and her long hair was soft and shiny.
With a smile on her face, she stood there like a glowing little sun.
Meng Hemian asked directly: “Wen Shuyao, have you seen Little Bread?”
Wen Shuyao tilted her head. “Hmm? Why are you looking for her?”
Meng Hemian pulled out her “study results” from last night, a long list of precautions in her phone’s notes.
One item was specifically highlighted in red as “Critical.”
She said expressionlessly: “I’ve contacted a well-known pet hospital in the city. I’m preparing to take Little Bread to get spayed.”
Wen Shuyao: “?”
SPAYED?!
