- My Straight Childhood Friend Successfully Pursued Me After The Breakup
- Chapter 14 - You Are So Cute
“Alright, alright, let’s go.” Teacher Su picked up her bag, said goodbye to the other teachers in the office, and hurriedly pulled Tao Ran away.
She slowed down only after they had walked out of the school gate.
She spoke words of comfort to Tao Ran, “You don’t need to feel too stressed. Teacher Zhang was just joking. You are still a student; you only need to look out for yourself. It is the teacher’s responsibility to supervise Zuo Xian.”
After speaking, Teacher Su pointed to a white electric scooter parked at the school entrance, “My scooter is over there. Did you ride one? If not, I can give you a ride.”
When Teacher Su found Tao Ran this afternoon, Tao Ran had already messaged Aunt Li, telling her not to come pick her up in the evening.
So, Tao Ran shook her head now, “I didn’t ride one.”
“Okay, then let’s go. We’ll buy Zuo Xian some fruit on the way.”
The two bought some snow pears and apples at a street-side fruit store, and then, guided by Tao Ran’s navigation, Teacher Su rode the scooter all the way to Zuo Xian’s residence.
The community’s access control was very strict, but fortunately, with Tao Ran accompanying her, Teacher Su registered her information and smoothly rode the electric scooter inside.
As soon as she entered the community, Teacher Su noticed that the greenery was particularly good and the facilities looked very modern; the housing prices must be quite high.
It was a good thing Zuo Xian’s mother wasn’t around, otherwise, if someone saw this scene and reported it, they’d definitely be in trouble.
“Zuo Xian’s home is on the fifth floor. I live right above her,” Tao Ran reminded her as the two entered the elevator.
“Okay,” Teacher Su nodded, but after waiting a long time without seeing Tao Ran press the button for the sixth floor, she asked, “Tao Ran, aren’t you going home?”
“I’ll go see A Xian first.”
Teacher Su sighed with emotion, “You two have such a good friendship.”
They soon arrived on the fifth floor. Teacher Su followed behind Tao Ran and watched her directly use her own fingerprint to unlock Zuo Xian’s door. She couldn’t help but repeat what she had just said in her mind.
As soon as they entered the house, Grandma Liu, who was cleaning, turned around and looked at them. Her gaze first swept over Tao Ran, then settled on the strange woman behind her.
“Ranran, this is…”
Tao Ran introduced her, “This is A Xian’s homeroom teacher. She heard A Xian was sick and came to visit her.”
“Oh, oh, oh, so you’re Xian Zai’s homeroom teacher. Hello, hello.”
Teacher Su also smiled, “Hello. Are you Zuo Xian’s grandmother?”
“No, no,” Grandma Liu quickly waved her hand, “I am the Zuo family’s housekeeper.”
The Zuo family, housekeeper.
Teacher Su suddenly felt a little embarrassed to take out the fruit she had bought at the street-side fruit store, which cost no more than fifteen yuan in total.
She gently moved the plastic bag behind her leg, but the red plastic bag, a complimentary item from the street vendor, rustled lightly with every movement.
Tao Ran glanced at Teacher Su and then suddenly said, “Grandma Liu, Teacher Su also brought fruit, and there are snow pears. Didn’t you say A Xian was coughing badly and you wanted to make her some rock sugar stewed pears?”
Grandma Liu immediately thanked her, “Teacher is truly too kind. Coming to see Zuo Xian is already very responsible, and you even brought fruit. With Xian Zai under your care at school, her mother can set her mind at ease.”
Teacher Su secretly breathed a sigh of relief, handing out the plastic bag she had hidden behind her, “No, it’s just a small token of my regard. Zuo Xian is my student after all, so of course, I should care.”
“Good, good. Then I won’t bother you two. Xian Zai is in her room, she’s not sleeping. You can just knock and go right in.” Grandma Liu took the fruit and headed towards the kitchen.
Teacher Su looked at the spacious flat and felt a little lost.
Which room was it?
Tao Ran: “Teacher Su, A Xian’s room is this way.”
“Good, thank you for your trouble.” Teacher Su felt reassured following behind Tao Ran.
When they reached Zuo Xian’s bedroom door, Tao Ran knocked, “A Xian.”
Pushing the door open, before Tao Ran had even stepped into the room, she heard Zuo Xian’s somewhat hoarse voice, the volume was quite loud—it was definitely the tone of someone throwing a fit.
“Ranran! Why haven’t you come to see me after being home from school for so long? Are you still my good friend! Did you make new friends in high school and no longer care about me, your old friend!”
Tao Ran and Teacher Su’s steps halted simultaneously. They exchanged a look, both more shocked than the other.
“Why don’t you come in? You’re guilty, alright…” Zuo Xian’s voice abruptly lowered as the two people at the door walked in.
Zuo Xian, whose cheeks were flushed with an unnatural red, widened her eyes and gasped, “Teacher Su?”
Teacher Su gave an awkward smile, “I came to see how your recovery is going.”
“It’s… pretty good.”
The teacher and student, one standing and one lying down, were equally embarrassed.
Tao Ran thoughtfully stepped out of the bedroom and closed the door. She still wanted to laugh, remembering Zuo Xian’s two angry shouts just now.
Was she throwing a tantrum now that she was sick?
She was strangely adorable.
Teacher Su didn’t chat for long and quickly came out of the bedroom to say goodbye to the two people outside. Tao Ran escorted her to the elevator and then returned.
This time, as she pushed open the bedroom door, Tao Ran was mentally prepared and a little curious about what Zuo Xian would say.
Unexpectedly, Zuo Xian said nothing. She frowned at Tao Ran, patting the edge of her bed, signaling her to come sit down.
Tao Ran was two steps slow, and Zuo Xian immediately started acting up, “Are you afraid I’ll infect you? Humph, that’s really disheartening.”
Tao Ran couldn’t help but smile, sitting down next to her.
“Why aren’t you saying anything? Do you think I’m being unreasonably difficult?” Zuo Xian vigorously slapped the quilt to show how unreasonably difficult she was being.
Tao Ran: “How are you being unreasonably difficult? You look just like a New Year’s painting doll. Cheerful and cute.”
A New Year’s painting doll?
Zuo Xian suddenly realized that Tao Ran was referring to the two patches of red on her face. She was a little mortified now.
Just as she was about to get angry, Tao Ran’s hand rested on her forehead the next second.
Tao Ran said softly, “Why are you still so hot? Did you take your fever medicine like a good girl?”
Listening to this baby-coaxing tone, Zuo Xian, whose brain was already fuzzy from the fever and who was strenuously showing her bad side, immediately retracted all her defenses.
She whimpered pitifully, like a little puppy drenched by the rain, “I took it. It tasted bad.”
“If you take it, your illness will get better, and you won’t feel so uncomfortable,” Tao Ran added, “Did you take your evening medicine? I’ll go get it for you.”
“Not yet.”
Tao Ran touched Zuo Xian’s burning hot face and got up to fetch the medicine.
When she returned with the medicine and warm water, she saw Zuo Xian gazing at her with wide, watery eyes, full of dependence.
“Take it. Capsule, tilt your head down; tablet, tilt your head up.” Tao Ran knew Zuo Xian had a sensitive throat and held out the pills for her to take one by one.
After taking the medicine, Zuo Xian let out a long sigh of relief. She remembered that her brilliant plan hadn’t been fully executed yet.
She added, “You deliberately didn’t tell me Teacher Su was coming just now to make me look bad. Are you jealous of my good image in front of the teachers and wanted to use this chance to discredit me?”
The sharp critiques of the teachers in the office suddenly appeared in her mind, standing side by side with Zuo Xian’s words, singing a symphony, one sentence after another.
The slim girl in the school uniform sat on the edge of the bed, lowering her head, struggling to suppress her laughter. Zuo Xian, delirious from the fever, waited a long time without getting an answer and bit her lip.
“Hey, why aren’t you talking? Are you tired of me being annoying?”
Zuo Xian furrowed her brow. It was the result she wanted, but she felt inexplicably wronged.
“A Xian,” Tao Ran looked up, her eyes bright with a clear smile.
“You are so cute.”
Zuo Xian’s ears turned red. She pulled the quilt over her head and stopped talking.
She felt annoyed, yet also a little inexplicably happy—her brilliant plan had failed again.
