- My Sister Never Said She Was a Creepy Tale
- Chapter 48 - It is More Important for the Three of You to Live Your Lives Well Than Anything Else
C-University, outside the Foreign Language Department teaching building, was a mess.
Trash cans had been sent flying, scattering garbage all over the ground.
Trees were pulled out by the roots.
And bicycles had been twisted into scrap metal by some unknown force.
Under the moonlight, Gu Ye looked at her hand in a somewhat sorry state. The skin was covered in a strange, light brown liquid, which corroded with a sizzling sound and had an odd white tinge.
She clicked her tongue, quickly retracting the tentacle to block the attack.
Opposite Gu Ye, the cake-head monster, standing on a streetlight and looking down at Gu Ye, tilted its head, observing everything before it.
The box-head monster tossed down a ball of flame. Quickly, an orange fire, carrying a sense of oppression, rushed towards Gu Ye, centered on her position.
The moisture in the air became dense, bringing with it a strange, fishy smell, the scent of the deep sea, which rolled forth, barely managing to extinguish the ball of fire.
The cake-head monster looked at the battered Gu Ye before her with some confusion, its eyes filled with disappointment.
A monster with such a powerful aura was, in reality, just mediocre.
What a waste of effort.
And a waste of an opportunity to set up tailor-made rules.
Lord God be praised.
“…Ma, well, that’s fine too,” the cake-head opened and closed. Another blob of reddish-brown viscous liquid dropped, this time with the determination to definitely devour this power.
She was only a little bit away from having the range of her rules cover the entire Cuihu District of C-University.
Only by devouring could she eliminate all the evil. This was Her duty.
It was the reason the Lord God had given Her a new life!
The sickly sweet scent in the air, like a sleeping drug, made Gu Ye feel her eyelids getting heavier and heavier, even though she had successfully dodged the attack.
In a trance, Gu Ye seemed to see Yue Yiyue.
She was standing in the flames, laughing heartily and waving at her: “Come on.”
“Let’s go together.”
Realizing that its master had entered a strange state, an extraordinarily thick tentacle inexplicably sprouted from behind the tentacle that had been caught and gnawed on by the cake-head monster.
A casual strike sent the cake-head flying, and briefly created a distorted spatial wormhole.
Some of the weaker tentacles were stunned in place.
They were tapped by the thick tentacle, and only then did they grudgingly disappear into the air, not forgetting to bring the hallucinating Gu Ye with them.
As her feet touched the ground, Gu Ye still hadn’t completely broken free from the disgusting odor.
Especially her stomach, which had gone crazy after smelling the scent, twisting and trying to digest her other organs along with it.
The deep, bone-visible wound on her arm reminded her that she had been careless.
Quickly stitching up her stomach, she leaned against the wall to rest for a moment before Gu Ye had time to examine her surroundings.
It was a spacious hallway.
The surroundings were very clean.
The air was filled with a familiar scent.
It was comforting.
Gu Ye squinted, looking at the familiar room number sign. It was Chao Xue (Nest Cave)…
It was the familiar Chao Xue…
Using her last bit of strength, Gu Ye crawled up and pressed the doorbell…
Inside the room, the first ring of the doorbell sounded. Yue Yiyue checked the time: half past seven.
No phone call, so it definitely wasn’t takeout.
She leaned on the bed, listening carefully to the door, and there was another ring.
Gu Nanqiu narrowed her eyes, feeling the unusual burning sensation on her arm growing more intense.
She had to crawl out of Yue Yiyue’s arms, mumbled a curse, and said, “I’ll get the door.”
“Be careful,” Yue Yiyue said with some concern, taking a hammer from a nearby cabinet and following behind Gu Nanqiu: “I heard things haven’t been peaceful lately. Don’t open the door casually.”
Noticing the object in Yue Yiyue’s hand and her cautious demeanor, Gu Nanqiu couldn’t help but laugh: “Relax, it’s Gu Ye.”
“She suffered a small, harmless injury and told me she was coming over to rest.”
Gu Nanqiu spoke while opening the door and catching the unconscious Gu Ye: “It’s a small injury, really.”
To be honest, Yue Yiyue didn’t believe it.
Her face was covered in bloodstains, and a large area of her arm was red, as if it had been severely burned by something.
There were also many small cuts in other places, scratched by glass, and possibly some metal.
All in all, this was definitely not the “small injury” Gu Nanqiu claimed it to be.
“Nanqiu, move Gu Ye to the master bedroom, and I’ll go find the medicine,” Yue Yiyue reacted, grabbed the home medical kit, and rushed to the bathroom to fetch a basin of warm water.
The house had extra bed covers. It was fine if they got dirty.
She could just discard the mattress cover and buy a new one later.
Pulling out a few soft tissues, Yue Yiyue carried the basin and rushed into the room: “Nanqiu, what medicine should be used for this? Burn ointment, or…?”
“Yiyue, you wipe her body first. I’ll go get the ointment. I have an ancestral one.”
Looking at Gu Ye’s body, and the various sizes of the wounds, they didn’t look like they were inflicted by a human.
Yue Yiyue gently lifted Gu Ye’s clothes as much as possible, revealing her soft abdomen.
She looked like she hadn’t eaten well, so there wasn’t much flesh.
Yue Yiyue glanced quickly and began to use sterilized tweezers to remove the fragments.
Her hands were steady and quick, as if she had done this often before.
Ten minutes later, Yue Yiyue checked other parts of Gu Ye’s body. Only some deeper wounds were still oozing a faint red blood; everything else was fine.
She stretched, and as she turned, she saw Gu Nanqiu standing beside her, holding a box: “Yiyue, that was hard work. I’ll take responsibility for applying the medicine here.”
“What exactly happened to Gu Ye?” Yue Yiyue frowned at Gu Nanqiu: “How did you know she was coming over?”
“Also, when did you two start contacting each other?”
After calming down, Yue Yiyue realized there were too many suspicious points.
She asked them honestly.
Although deep down she felt that Gu Nanqiu wouldn’t tell the truth.
“She was accidentally injured while doing a good deed. It’s nothing serious. She sent me a WeChat message just before you woke up. I originally thought she would arrive a little later.”
Gu Nanqiu brought up a WeChat interface, which showed Gu Ye asking if she could also order an extra portion of takeout for her.
Everything felt contradictory, yet somehow also seemed fine.
Yue Yiyue nodded hesitantly: “Alright, then you apply the medicine first. We can discuss the rest later.”
“Yiyue, why aren’t you going back to your room tonight?” Gu Nanqiu stood in the master bedroom, looking at the woman lying on the beanbag chair, neatly covered by a quilt. She gripped the door frame, looking at Yue Yiyue with some resentment.
She looked like a scorned woman who had finally waited for her wife, only to be stood up and forced to sleep alone.
Yue Yiyue shook her head: “I’m sleeping here tonight. To keep watch.”
“If Gu Ye has any movements tonight, I can notice them. Nanqiu, you’ve also worked hard today. I know that if I don’t stay, you would definitely run over several times tonight, based on your personality.”
Yue Yiyue spoke earnestly, filled with concern for both Gu Nanqiu and Gu Ye.
Gu Nanqiu didn’t know what to say for a moment. She froze in place.
Who cares about Gu Ye’s life or death?
If necessary, she could just toss her into a random corner. It wasn’t like she would actually die. At worst, she would just have to eat some random stuff to recover.
But Yue Yiyue had already said all this.
Could she say no?
She couldn’t. That would be OOC (out of character) and would arouse Yue Yiyue’s suspicion.
She had to become the image Yue Yiyue loved.
However, Gu Nanqiu was definitely unwilling to sleep alone.
Damn it. Yiyue had finally given in…
“Nanqiu, I know you’re worried about Gu Ye, but you’ve also been through a lot today and are very tired. I rested well this afternoon, so leave the night watch to me.”
“Do you think I can’t do this job well?”
Looking at the woman standing motionless at the door, Yue Yiyue propped herself up and looked at Gu Nanqiu with some confusion.
“No, I don’t.” Gu Nanqiu immediately denied it, a perfect smile appearing on her flawless face: “I’ve thought about it. It’s perfectly fine for all of us to sleep in this room.”
“This bed is so big. Let Gu Ye sleep on one side, I’ll sleep in the middle, and you’ll sleep on the other side.”
“Of course, due to certain reasons, you might easily fall off the bed, but it’s okay. I’ll hold you and be careful.”
When Gu Ye woke up, she had, with Gu Nanqiu’s assistance, already repaired most of her body.
However, she didn’t dare to touch some of the external wounds, afraid that a waking Yue Yiyue might notice something wrong.
She looked down and gently smoothed Yue Yiyue’s soft hair.
It was given to her by Gu Nanqiu in the middle of the night.
Although the other party was very reluctant, considering the harmony between them, one got to hold her for the first half of the night, and the other for the second half.
This exceeded Gu Ye’s expectations and was even overly blissful. Even the beating she took yesterday felt worth it.
But the bad news was that part of her power had been devoured, which made that thing a little stronger…
Thinking of this, she sat up nervously, giving up the spot next to Yue Yiyue and not daring to look at Gu Nanqiu.
She had insisted that she was growing quickly, and no worse than her, and could definitely protect Yiyue, be a good NPC, and follow her storyline.
Yet, last night, when destroying the cake-head’s rules, she was severely outmaneuvered.
Zhou Qingyi was really unlucky. Why did she happen to pick the strawberry cake with oranges in it?
“Since you just woke up, it’s normal to be weak. Once you return to the main body, everything will return to normal, and then we can both love Yiyue properly.” Gu Nanqiu got up, walked to Gu Ye’s side, and checked Gu Ye’s body once more.
The body Yue Yiyue liked could not have any flaws. Even if there were wounds, they could only be those left by Yiyue herself.
She didn’t mock or blame this small chaos memory that was born after sensing Yue Yiyue’s scent.
Looking at the face identical to her own.
The thought of how much Yue Yiyue cared for Gu Ye last night made her excited, wanting to completely wrap Yiyue up and slowly savor everything about her.
Sure enough, no matter what version of myself it is, I can be adored by Yiyue.
This feeling was truly amazing. Gu Nanqiu happily walked to the kitchen to make breakfast, while also splitting a sliver of power for the weaker child.
For the next while, Gu Ye would be a very good henchman.
When Yue Yiyue woke up, Gu Ye was sitting on the sofa, thoroughly enjoying an episode of Tom and Jerry.
A half-drunk carton of milk was placed beside her.
Seeing Yue Yiyue come out, Gu Ye smiled and pointed to the sandwich on the table: “Gu Nanqiu went out to buy groceries. She’ll be back soon.”
“Thank you.” Yue Yiyue took the sandwich, sat on the other end of the sofa, and looked at the cheerful-looking Gu Ye: “What exactly happened last night? Do you need me to call the police for you?”
“Or, is the thing you encountered not normal, but something unbelievable to ordinary people?”
Yue Yiyue asked tentatively and offered comfort: “I will do everything I can to help you, Gu Ye. You don’t need to be afraid.”
“I was just beaten up by that box-head monster and Them, and I had to run for a long time before escaping.” Gu Ye knew the answer Yue Yiyue wanted to hear. Ignoring the fight, she looked at Yue Yiyue pitifully: “They want to cleanse all the sins in C-University, and because I passed by and saw them trying to attack Zhou Qingyi from the Foreign Language Department, I wanted to help out, which is why I ended up like this…”
“Aww, Sister Yiyue, my hand still hurts a little. Can you blow on it for me?”
