- My Sister Never Said She Was a Creepy Tale
- Chapter 111 - The Daily Life Following the Conclusion of Affairs
City C in early spring was not particularly cold. The trees outside had already grown new buds, plum blossoms were in full bloom, and occasionally, one or two early peach blossoms, overly curious, opened ahead of time to observe this beautiful world.
All of this was sealed outside by a glass door, including the noise of car horns.
Inside the room, Yue Yiyue watched Gluttony across from her with a tense expression.
Gluttony, however, looked leisurely, opening her thermos cup to take a sip of water.
Yu Man watched Gluttony’s hand movements with some vigilance, carefully observing the object in her hand, her expression highly focused.
A tile with a vibrant green back was slapped onto the table. Gluttony looked at Yue Yiyue, saw that her expression was still poor, and sighed in relief: “One wan (萬).”
Yue Yiyue was somewhat frantic; the goal of winning the hand was indefinitely far away, but she could only stand up to draw a new tile, all the while silently praying for a good tile, preferably a Red Dragon tile.
Upon seeing the tile in her hand, Yue Yiyue pouted: “One wan.”
Before she could complain, she looked up and saw Yu An, who was also suffering with her until now, and their eyes simultaneously fell upon the tiles.
How could two people be so unlucky?
The wheel of fortune turns, but how could it not turn towards them!
Even Zhou Qingyi, the beginner, had won several times, yet they were still rooted right here.
This was wrong!
This was far too wrong.
Gu Nanqiu observed Yue Yiyue’s discouraged look. She innocently leaned closer to Yue Yiyue, her hand restlessly rubbing Yue Yiyue’s, smiling like a cunning fox: “My dear, do you need me to lend you some luck?”
As soon as she finished speaking, Yue Yiyue shoved Gu Nanqiu away, as if guarding against a thief: “Do not look at my tiles…”
“Pfft—” Gluttony could not hold back, bursting into laughter. Moments later, she spoke with a sarcastic tone: “No trust at all, truly. Oh, how loving they are~”
Her tone twisted through seven or eight inflections.
Seeing this, Yue Yiyue belatedly realized that Gluttony and the Forensic Doctor were becoming more and more alike; towards people they disliked, their mouths were laced with venom, offering no kind words.
Yue Yiyue was so angered that she lost her temper and immediately discarded a tile from her hand.
“Win.” Gu Nanqiu saw the tile that Yiyue had played, and the corner of her mouth slowly curled into a smile. She pushed forward the tiles in front of her. “Thank you, my dear. You truly have a telepathic connection with me; you knew I only needed this tile.”
Gluttony instantly stopped her giggling.
The Forensic Doctor rubbed Gluttony’s shoulder, signaling her to speak less, play first, and then took Gu Nanqiu’s seat. After the clatter of the tiles being shuffled, a new round began.
The fragrance of the food wafted through the air. Yue Yiyue, who had lost until her eyes were bloodshot, lay sadly on the sofa: “I cannot continue. My luck is too terrible. I quit, I am retiring from this.”
Gluttony scoffed: “Indeed. With luck like yours, you should just stack the Mahjong tiles to build a house.”
Looking at the table full of colorful, fragrant, and delicious food, it brought back memories from years ago.
She swallowed her saliva, enduring the loss for now; eating was the priority!
After they finished eating, the Mahjong machine’s button chime rang.
Yu An looked at Yue Yiyue, who had darted forward to seize her seat: “Didn’t you say you quit?”
“I think this spot has good feng shui, and besides, Gluttony is not sitting next to me this time.” Yue Yiyue adopted the appearance of someone who had conducted a rational analysis, firmly sitting down in what she called her ‘Treasure Land of Feng Shui‘. “If I still lose, I am a dog!”
Four hours later, Gu Nanqiu, in high spirits, picked up her jacket: “Little dog, what would you like to go out and eat?”
Yu An was also defeated and lay slumped on the table, exhausted: “Little dog, is this right? Twenty consecutive rounds without a chance to stand up.”
“Is this right?”
“This cannot be right, can it?”
Yue Yiyue could not figure it out either, but the Forensic Doctor and Zhou Qingyi kept winning and leaving.
Could it be that she simply did not know how to play Mahjong?
But Zhou Qingyi had just learned.
Was it a beginner’s protective period?
“Little dog?” Gu Nanqiu leaned over and pinched Yue Yiyue’s nose. “Come on, let us go out for a late-night snack. Do not overthink it.”
“Maybe you just had bad luck today.”
As soon as the words left her mouth, Gluttony’s irritating voice floated over: “It is also possible that it is because I came.”
“I told you I bring you bad luck. Look, you have lost so miserably playing cards.”
Gluttony wanted to say more but was hit in the face by a flying slipper.
The next second, Yue Yiyue pressed Gluttony onto the sofa and proceeded to beat her with a nearby cushion.
The Forensic Doctor stood to one side, watching the two fighting fiercely: “Are you not going to pull your wife away?”
Gu Nanqiu shrugged: “Why do you not pull your wife away?”
The Forensic Doctor sighed: “Yue Yiyue beating me is simply routine. You should handle this matter.”
Zhou Qingyi, who had just been happily grinning with big teeth, watched Yue Yiyue forcefully pin Gluttony down and beat her. She quietly hid behind Yu An: “Is this the first time I have felt Yue Yiyue’s terror?”
That was Gluttony, who had boiled countless people into soup…
That was Gluttony, who had raised many monsters and whom even Lord Greed somewhat feared.
Yu An looked at Zhou Qingyi’s timid appearance, recalling the arrogant, nonchalant, and slightly disdainful expression she had while winning earlier.
“Do not just focus on Yue Yiyue brutally beating Gluttony. The one standing over there is Pride, whose region has a forty percent mortality rate, second only to Gluttony and Lust at Her peak. Furthermore, current information suggests that Yue Yiyue has beaten four of the Seven Deadly Sins!”
“Yue Yiyue beating anyone is merely routine!”
Yue Yiyue, who had just finished beating Gluttony, heard this sentence as soon as she stood up. She was confused for a moment, then vigorously shook her head: “I am not, I did not, stop talking nonsense!”
“When did I…” Yue Yiyue was about to defend herself but was immediately muffled by Yu An’s hand over her mouth: “So you should show Yue Yiyue respect, understood?”
“Do not think that because you won the cards today, Yiyue is weak. She just has poor luck in other areas.”
“After all, all her life’s luck has been focused on her combat power…”
Gluttony, whose clothes were slightly dirty, heard this and wanted to argue that they were only playing around and it was not a real fight, but the Forensic Doctor gave her a warning glance.
She closed her mouth reluctantly and rubbed against the Forensic Doctor: “I am not making soup for you tomorrow.”
“I am not stir-frying eggplant with meat for you either.”
Yu Man, who was inexplicably dragged into the rumor while standing nearby, finally lost her patience and slammed the table deafeningly: “Are we eating the late-night snack or not!”
“If not, I am going home first.”
“Yes, yes, we are eating! I announce that Gluttony is paying the bill!”
“If I do not bankrupt her, I am a bastard,” Yue Yiyue reacted first, gritting her teeth: “Quick, Nanqiu, quickly find that ridiculously expensive place.”
“Book a private room, and then! I want that garish one with the gold flakes!!! It costs over nine thousand for one sprinkling, right! Let us sprinkle it ten times tonight!!!”
“Yue Yiyue, do not be crazy.” Gluttony rolled her eyes: “Do you really think Gu Nanqiu is capable of everyth…”
Before she could finish, she heard Gu Nanqiu say smilingly: “Yes, ten sprinklings of gold powder. And Boss Gu said… yes… deduct it from her account. Also, that bottle of Romanée-Conti, the ’97 vintage—open three bottles.”
“Gu Nanqiu!!!”
Not understanding why Gluttony was so completely defeated, Yu An was already smiling blissfully, leaning over and shouting “Thank you, Boss.”
She immediately turned to educate Yue Yiyue: “That wine costs over two hundred thousand per bottle. Three bottles in one night—the Boss is truly generous.”
Having lost the cards but seeing Gluttony frustrated, Yue Yiyue’s mood instantly brightened.
She secretly decided that she would only sleep in a separate bed from Gu Nanqiu for one week.
After all, she lost too badly today, and she felt that dreaming next to Gu Nanqiu would involve the other smiling and telling her she had a Pure Hand suit…
The room was overly lively. Gu Nanqiu tossed the clothes from the corner into Gluttony’s arms: “It is only one meal I am eating at your expense, and besides, you have not seen Yu Man in a long time.”
Upon hearing this, Gluttony fell silent.
Ten minutes later, the group enthusiastically headed towards the booked restaurant.
The evening breeze blew. Yue Yiyue looked up at the round moon hanging in the sky. It was probably over now.
After more than half a year of turmoil.
Gu Nanqiu noticed Yue Yiyue’s action and embraced her: “What are you thinking about?”
Yue Yiyue tilted her head, leaning lazily against Gu Nanqiu: “I just never thought I could live a life like this.”
“Auntie is also coming to see me tomorrow. I will take you to meet one of my family members.”
Speaking of this, Yue Yiyue was also somewhat emotional: “Aunt Zhang went to the hospital because of me. I had no memory before, so I did not understand why a healthy person would suddenly…”
“It was only after my memory recovered that I realized the Fish-Head Monster had actually chased me several times before then. You shielded me twice, and Auntie also shielded me once.”
The moon was bright and the stars sparse. Yue Yiyue did not know why she felt particularly melancholy tonight.
Perhaps she lost too much playing Mahjong today. After all, having grown up and stumbled along the way, she had not lost many times.
Gluttony walked ahead and tsk-ed: “The Fish-Head Monster is dead; that matter is concluded. If we delve any deeper, the two of us are once again at war until death.”
Before Yue Yiyue could retort, Gu Nanqiu became anxious: “At war with whom until death?”
“Forensic Doctor, control your wife’s mouth. What she said is incorrect!”
“By what right are you at war with my wife until death?”
“She belongs to me.”
Zhou Qingyi followed behind, her expression somewhat complicated. She truly had not been mistaken back then.
Yue Yiyue had truly tamed a loyal cat.
Thinking of her own sister…
Fortunately, she ultimately did not stand on their opposing side.
Yu An looked at Zhou Qingyi’s expression. She was just about to go and talk to Zhou Qingyi, but Yu Man abruptly pulled her aside.
Yu An was somewhat confused, looking up at Yu Man, who still maintained her immaculate appearance, waiting for her to issue an instruction.
After waiting for a long time, Yu Man only continued walking ahead on her own. Yu An pondered for a moment, then snapped back to reality. Wait, her Sanity Value was stable now; she had returned to being a normal person and was no longer Yu Man’s subordinate as before. Why was she so concerned about her every move?
It truly was…
“Little Boss Zhou, I have heard a few things about you before. Shall we chat—” Yu An realized her opportunity. She walked over brazenly and embraced the other: “How did you get involved with Greed?”
“Did Yue Yiyue beat you up?”
“I had just regained a tiny bit of my humanity back then, and I think I heard a few things about you from other monsters.”
Yu Man’s face instantly became particularly unpleasant.
Yue Yiyue stifled her laughter, burying herself into Gu Nanqiu’s embrace: “Thank you.”
“Thank me for what?” Gu Nanqiu looked at the person in her arms, who looked like she was holding back mischief. She vaguely felt that she might, possibly, probably have to sleep alone for a few more days…
“Everything I have now was brought to me by you.” Yue Yiyue did not know what to say. The matters between them were overly complex. If one delved too deeply, it could indeed lead to a fight to the death.
But in the end, everything melted away in their eyes when they looked at each other, seeing those eyes focused solely on themselves, transforming into a simple: “Never mind—”
She made amends, did she not?
Gu Nanqiu seemed to understand Yue Yiyue’s unspoken words. Her warm lips pressed against Yue Yiyue’s cheek, which was slightly cooled by the wind: “No. Without me, you would be happier, but I was too selfish.”
She only realized love belatedly, so she could only make clumsy amends.
Fortunately, she had a generous beloved.
Fortunately, no matter what, her beloved would fall in love with her.
The Forensic Doctor watched the two of them stop, leaning on each other. There was a quiet click, and a photo of them was added to her phone.
Gluttony was somewhat dissatisfied: “Why are you always siding with Yue Yiyue? Are you secretly in love with her too? Do not tell me that you two are in sync, and you are using me as a substitute.”
The Forensic Doctor sent the photo to her: “If it were not for her, you would not have met me until now.”
Her tone carried a hint of strange displeasure, and her fingers squeezed the symbol she had personally carved when making the contract with Gluttony: “Do not say such nonsense, okay? I do not like to hear it.”
Gluttony tsk-ed, softly cursing her as a lunatic.
“Yue Yiyue, do you have any plans for this period?” The Forensic Doctor adjusted her glasses: “Make time for a physical examination to stabilize your Sanity Value. Mother Goddess instructed me to.”
“Hmm, tomorrow I am meeting the auntie, the day after I am going back to the orphanage, and next week school starts…”
“Then, four days from now,” Yue Yiyue ran through her recent schedule in her head: “That works perfectly. I also have a few things I want to ask you—”
