- Chapter 1.8 - The Crowd and Lily’s Tears
“Prince, please… please believe my story. Lady Serena made me feel so much pain.”
Lily looks up at the Prince again with eyes wet with tears. Her pretty face and delicate voice make her look exactly like a heroine everyone wants to protect. The crowd looks at her and whispers, “Poor thing,” and “How could Serena do such a thing?”
—But is Lily really the victim she says she is? My memory is still fuzzy, and I cannot even remember what kind of bullying I supposedly did. Still, looking back at the game settings, Lily was definitely a “Saint from a commoner background” who was loved by the Prince and the nobles.
However, in a punishment scene, the theory is usually that the heroine feels sad but still joins the Prince in strictly questioning the villainess. Instead, the Lily in front of me is clinging tightly to the Prince, acting as if she is trying to take all the sympathy for herself. To me, it looks somewhat unnatural.
The Prince lightly places his hand on Lily, but his eyes are definitely not kind. Despite that, Lily seems to believe the Prince is protecting her, as she continues to cry even louder.
The crowd is swallowed up by this scene, shouting, “Save Lily!” and “Punish Serena!” The atmosphere makes it feel like no one is willing to listen to my excuses anymore.
