- My Overly Anxious and Devoted Girlfriend Never Gives Up on Me
- Chapter 2.6 - The Unstoppable Yuna
I quickly pulled back my finger just before it reached the intercom.
Placing a hand over my pounding heart, I, Yunagi Shizuno, took a deep breath.
I was incredibly happy, but even more than that, I was unbearably nervous.
‘Why don’t we have our date at Sakuraba-kun’s house?’
I’d said it on a whim, not really expecting him to actually agree.
Well, I did kind of push for it…
But I think this was unavoidable.
After finally managing to become friends with Sakuraba-kun, we never got any time alone together.
And it was all because of Mikura-san.
She definitely has feelings for Sakuraba-kun.
No doubt about it. One hundred percent!
If she didn’t, she wouldn’t be so obvious about getting in our way.
Barging into our lovely lunchtime together every single day.
And Sakuraba-kun is so kind that he just goes along with it.
Thanks to that, my frustration has reached its limit.
Honestly, even though I know it’s not good, I’m so jealous I could die.
That’s why today, I’m absolutely going to get cozy with Sakuraba-kun.
And if I’m lucky, I hope he’ll notice me even just a little bit.
I’m wearing my favorite long, light pink knit sweater.
This outfit gets good reviews from guys, so I’m going to make Sakuraba-kun fall for me!
Taking one more deep breath, I firmly pressed the intercom.
The “ding-dong” sound echoed from inside the house.
I still get nervous every time I meet Sakuraba-kun.
My chest feels a bit tight, and my heartbeat quickens.
But I don’t dislike that feeling at all—in fact, it’s rather pleasant.
It reminds me that I really do like him.
“Hey.”
The door opened to reveal Sakuraba-kun in casual clothes, looking fresh and clean.
His gentle, slightly sleepy eyes found me.
“G-good morning, Sakuraba-kun!”
“Morning. Did you find the house okay?”
“Y-yeah! No problem!”
Of course, I already knew where Sakuraba-kun lived.
I decided to keep that to myself.
“Well, come on in.”
“O-okay! Sorry for intruding!”
Following Sakuraba-kun’s beckoning, I finally stepped inside the Sakuraba household.
But what is it?
I feel like I’m forgetting something…
“Ah…!”
“…What?”
“Sorry! I forgot the sweets I brought for your parents!”
How could I?!
Now Sakuraba-kun’s parents will think I’m an inconsiderate girl!
This is the worst!
Even though I was excited about seeing Sakuraba-kun, making such a basic mistake.
“W-what should I do…?”
“Nah, it’s fine.”
“It’s not fine! I’ll go buy some now!”
“You don’t need to.”
“I have to!”
“It’s really okay. Both my parents are out today.”
“…Huh?”
…Huh?
Sakuraba-kun, what did you just say?
“Come on up. Don’t just stand in the entryway.”
With that, Sakuraba-kun briskly climbed the stairs just inside.
…Huh?!
Both his parents are out…?
That means… that means… huh?!
“…”
What do I do? I didn’t come prepared for this…?!

“Take a seat wherever.”
Saying that, Sakuraba-kun moved the only cushion aside and sat directly on the carpet.
Sakuraba-kun really is kind.
Even though he said “wherever,” he subtly showed me where to sit.
Sitting on the offered cushion, I secretly glanced around the room.
It was just as I imagined—very tidy.
Both his desk and the area around his bed were clean, like he could have guests over anytime.
Though the large bookshelf along the wall and the TV stand were pretty packed.
Besides books, Sakuraba-kun likes movies too, so those are probably movie discs or something.
Speaking of which the bed.
That’s where Sakuraba-kun sleeps every night.
…I want to sit there.
And if possible, I’d like to smell it a little too.
Glancing at Sakuraba-kun, I saw him plug his smartphone into a charger and place it on his desk.
“What?”
“Huh! N-nothing!”
“…Okay. You must be bored, there’s nothing to do. I told you we shouldn’t have.”
“No! That’s not true! Just being with you makes me happy!”
“Really? But Yunagi-san, you seem quieter than usual?”
“Huh… n-no, not really…?”
Well, if you say something like that right after I arrive, of course I’ll be nervous!
Sakuraba-kun, you idiot! Fool! I love you!
“Really, it’s nothing! More importantly, thank you. Even though I insisted on coming to your house…”
“Nah… it’s fine. You were right, it makes sense.”
Saying that, Sakuraba-kun scratched his head awkwardly.
“And well, we are dating after all… We haven’t had many chances to talk properly, just the two of us.”
“S-Sakuraba-kun…!”
So, he’d been thinking that too…!
Sakuraba-kun really is so kind.
Even though he usually seems blunt, he still thoughtfully considers my feelings.
It’s that part of him that draws me in, that makes me want him all to myself.
Sakuraba-kun…
“But if you’re going to apologize, I wish you’d given up on coming. Hm? Wh-what? Your eyes…”
…This is bad.
Alone with Sakuraba-kun.
Of course, no one can see us.
It should be okay to hug him now, right?
“Yunagi-san? Your eyes are kind of scary…”
“Sakuraba-kun…!”
Leaning my body, I boldly moved closer, as if to cling to him.
Sakuraba-kun would surely forgive me.
Even though I knew I was being presumptuous, I couldn’t stop myself.
Knock knock
“Huh?”
…A knock?
But his parents aren’t supposed to be here.
Then why?
I didn’t even have time to think about it.
Click
All I could do was watch as the door opened with a mechanical sound, while I fell toward Sakuraba-kun.
