My Omega Rival in Love [Interstellar] - Chapter 50
The spaceship sailed out of the Rota Star atmosphere. From a distance, the ring of meteorites appeared to surround Rota Star, but in reality, the distance was quite far, roughly equal to the average radius of Rota Star.
He Yu sat beside Gu Jin. Along the way, Gu Jin, who was known for being a chatterbox, had not said a single word. Had it not been for the fact that her expression was as relaxed as ever, He Yu would have thought she was heading to the execution grounds.
Gu Jin was not talkative, and He Yu was not one for many words either. The two arrived in silence at the location of Gu Jin’s mother’s meteorite monument. However, because there was too much debris ahead, the spaceship, while not very large, could not get close. For safety reasons, Gu Jin and He Yu disembarked near the Star Tomb.
Gu Jin left the ship first. In the empty expanse of space, she miraculously stood in place, as if she were stepping on solid, transparent ground beneath her feet.
Gu Jin noticed He Yu’s hesitation. She walked over to the side of the ship and extended her hand. “This is the intersection of Rota Star’s gravity and the space constant magnetic field. Both reach a state of equilibrium, so while you are here, you can achieve the feeling of truly stepping on air.”
This was the first sentence Gu Jin had spoken since they departed, intended to introduce He Yu to the uniqueness of this place. After all, Rota Star was a crucial military stronghold, and this area was completely cut off from most scientific research, so very few people understood its wonders.
Meeting Gu Jin’s confident gaze, He Yu still felt somewhat uncertain. She looked at Gu Jin’s extended hand, thought for a moment, and then placed her own hand in hers. Supported by Gu Jin, she slowly stepped down.
Only after confirming that one could truly move freely here did He Yu finally relax. Feeling the strange force beneath her feet, she had a sensation similar to passing through a wormhole; it felt as if something in the hidden depths was drawing closer.
Before He Yu could contemplate this further, Gu Jin had already stowed the spaceship and led her inside.
Watching their clasped hands, He Yu pursed her lips, saying nothing, and did not pull her hand away, letting Gu Jin continue to lead her.
Noticing He Yu’s gaze, Gu Jin gently tightened her grip. Feeling the cool temperature of He Yu’s palm, she was surprised; she had not realized He Yu’s hands were so cold.
“This side holds those from about twenty years ago, and those nearby are the most recent. On the other side of Rota Star are those from a very, very long time ago, perhaps tracing back to when the territory of the Weize Empire was first established. Since this is the border, not many were buried here with monuments back then. After all, there were simply too many casualties. Even if we had a dozen more Rota Stars, I doubt it would be enough.”
Gu Jin explained the history to He Yu while holding both of He Yu’s hands in her own. Their water-pattern protective shields were quite intuitive, merging into one without causing any obstruction.
With both hands held, He Yu shifted slightly in discomfort. Gu Jin’s hands were different from hers. The fingers were longer, the joints well-defined like jade-carved bamboo, carrying a unique beauty. From the palm to the back of the hand, they radiated a heat that was easy to become attached to. It was warm, transferring from Gu Jin’s hands to her own, making her reluctant to let go.
“Do not move.” Pressing down on He Yu’s restless hands, Gu Jin lowered her eyes, appearing unexpectedly gentle. “Your hands are too cold.”
He Yu stopped moving and ceased her struggle, looking at Gu Jin with a complicated expression.
Led to a halt by He Yu, Gu Jin did not say anything, but looked at her with a hint of confusion, waiting for her to speak.
“Gu Jin,” He Yu paused, trying to choose a more suitable expression, but failed. “You have been acting a bit strange these past few days. You are not quite like yourself, and I am not very used to it.”
Gu Jin was stunned for a moment. Then, she clasped her hands together, trapping He Yu’s hands in between, and looked down to meet He Yu’s eyes. “I just feel that if I pursue my wife using the methods of a rival, I will die a miserable death. Besides, do you really think the old me was better?”
“That is not it.” Regarding this, He Yu still felt that the Gu Jin who seemed normal now was better, but she truly could not believe that a person could change so drastically.
“Actually, I will tell you a secret.” Watching He Yu’s slightly adorable expression, Gu Jin’s eyes revealed a glimmer of amusement. She leaned in toward He Yu, feigning mystery. When He Yu looked over, she blinked. “Kiss me, and I will tell you.”
“Then I will not listen.” He Yu refused quite firmly, without the slightest hesitation.
Watching He Yu turn her face away, Gu Jin placed a light, dragonfly-like kiss on He Yu’s cheek. “Then me kissing you works as well.”
Before He Yu could flare up, Gu Jin soothingly held her hands and quickly changed the subject. “The secret I want to tell you is that I once thought I would differentiate into an Omega. Do you believe me?”
“Are you mocking me?” He Yu felt she had been wrong, terribly wrong. All the buildup Gu Jin had done was just for this bad joke!
Realizing He Yu had misunderstood, Gu Jin pulled her into an embrace from behind. She kept her hands around her, holding her carefully but refusing to let her break free.
“My phrasing was ambiguous, but it is the truth. The reason I always said I would definitely differentiate into an Alpha growing up was because I was always competing with you and saying it out of spite. Who would have thought it would actually happen? But in reality, before I met you, I was raised as an Omega.”
She quickly cleared up her statement. In truth, if they were not in this place, with only He Yu around, Gu Jin would never have uttered these words in her life.
Seeing that Gu Jin was truly not looking to get beaten, but instead appeared somewhat serious, He Yu stopped struggling and turned her head to look at Gu Jin, who was beside her shoulder, in disbelief. “Your family raised an Omega to be like you?”
“Do not say that. I only became like this later because you provoked me. You have a share in making me who I am today.” It had to be said that Gu Jin’s ability to blame others was top-tier, and He Yu was momentarily left speechless.
“When I was little, I was a girl. Plus, there was my brother Gu Ting to inherit the throne, so I was not burdened with such high expectations. My parents, my uncle, and Gu Ting all thought I would surely differentiate into an Omega, inheriting my mother’s honor as the Flower of the Empire. So, from a young age, I was spoiled and raised like a little princess.”
She led He Yu to sit down on an ownerless meteorite nearby. Gu Jin was in no rush to find her mother’s monument. He Yu was also having a rare moment listening to Gu Jin tell her own story, so she did not interrupt, simply changing her posture from being hugged by Gu Jin to sitting side-by-side.
“They perhaps lacked experience in pampering, so they went a bit overboard. They failed to raise me into a sweet, adorable little cotton-padded jacket and instead cultivated a spoiled and willful temperament. But we all agreed that I would differentiate into the most beautiful Omega in the entire empire.” After she finished, Gu Jin laughed first. “Haha, is it not shameless to say that?”
Following Gu Jin’s words, He Yu looked at Gu Jin’s face. A pair of beautiful peach-blossom eyes with silver-grey pupils seemed to contain the entire starry sea. Her straight, prominent nose bridge created a sense of distance from others. The colors on her face were extremely light. Usually, she looked unapproachable, and when she exuded authority, she was particularly intimidating. When mocking someone, she only needed to lower her eyelids and curve the corners of her mouth in disdain to make that person feel utterly ashamed.
But like this, laughing without any pretense, her slightly curved peach-blossom eyes sparkling like stars—reflecting only her—and the pleasant curve of her mouth… That face, normally so detached and unattainable as if it were not of the mortal world, suddenly felt like an ice river breaking, winter fading, and the four seasons returning to spring. It was like the master of a fairyland; just one glance was enough to dazzle her for the rest of her life.
He Yu’s expression faltered slightly, and her heart stirred. The expectations they once had had come true; Gu Jin truly was the most beautiful one.
“Then why did you suddenly change your mind later? Do not tell me it was because I provoked you again.” She forced herself to divert her attention, shifting her gaze away from Gu Jin’s enchanting face, though she could not control her slightly heated scent gland or the burning sensation spreading from her neck to the roots of her ears.
Gu Jin naturally noticed this small reaction from He Yu, her eyes still holding residual mirth. “Later, my mother passed away, and some unpleasant events occurred. It is normal for my mindset to shift. If I had not changed my mindset in time, would I not have missed meeting you?”
Just as they were about to get to the main point, this mischievous Gu Jin actually stopped talking! Passing it off with such a sentence was just too irritating.
He Yu could not bother with her previous emotions and brought her focus back to what Gu Jin had said. “You are just being evasive.”
“Not satisfied with this secret? I accept refunds. Come on, you can kiss me as you please.” Closing her eyes, Gu Jin truly wore an expression that said “do whatever you want.” He Yu simply did not know what to say to her, and could only hum coldly, struggling again with the hand that was being held.
How rare. She truly had not expected to see this side of He Yu. Gu Jin watched He Yu, who was acting out with a rare, childlike petulance, and tightened her grip on the now-warmed hand. “Alright, as compensation, I will tell you another little secret.”
Hearing Gu Jin’s tone, which sounded like she was coaxing a child, He Yu did not want to pay her any mind, but her curiosity was piqued. After a moment of conflict, she merely turned slightly to present her ear to Gu Jin.
Amused by He Yu’s small gesture, Gu Jin leaned in intentionally, merging their water-pattern protective suits into one. Then, she breathed onto He Yu’s ear. The warm air, protected by the suit, spilled onto He Yu’s ear without dissipating, successfully watching as that porcelain-white ear turned red at a visible speed, merging into the flush behind her earlobe.
Before He Yu could pull her head away, Gu Jin spoke, “Actually, when I was a child, my mother arranged a betrothal for me.”
Then, Gu Jin watched as He Yu’s complexion instantly plummeted from above zero to minus twenty degrees!
