Chapter 39: “You Won’t Admit It, but Your Body…”
Song Ai’s breath hitched the moment he recognized the person in front of him.
Actually, before sleeping, he had wondered if Lu Tingyun would sneak into his bed in the middle of the night—after all, it wasn’t the first time the man had done such a thing.
But for some reason, finding that Lu Tingyun actually had climbed in, he felt a bizarre sense of habituation…
Hearing Lu Tingyun’s muffled words, Song Ai froze. He looked silently into the other man’s eyes, sensing a depth of emotion he couldn’t quite decipher.
He recalled Lu Tingyun’s words from earlier that day. A long, rambling speech—he couldn’t remember it all, but the phrase “physiological attraction” stuck out.
Did Lu Tingyun really… like him??
“You…” Song Ai’s throat felt inexplicably dry. He wanted to say something, but the words wouldn’t come. Instinctively, he tried to back away, only to be held firmly by Lu Tingyun’s arms.
The rain outside continued to lash against the glass. The flashes of lightning illuminated Lu Tingyun’s sharp features, casting shifting, moody shadows that made him look somewhat somber.
They were so close that they could feel the heat of each other’s breath.
“Song Ai,” Lu Tingyun called out, his voice deeper than before, carrying a hint of hoarseness and resentment. “We can’t go on like this. Are you really not planning to give me a definitive status?”
A definitive status?
Song Ai stared blankly at his own reflection in the mirror on the ceiling.
He didn’t know, and he wasn’t sure. He wasn’t as decisive as Lu Tingyun, and he certainly wasn’t… addicted to “that kind of thing” like Lu Tingyun was. At most, he just didn’t find it repulsive.
Did that level of feeling warrant giving him a status? If so, who made that rule? More importantly, if he truly committed to a relationship with Lu Tingyun, what would happen to their marriage? Would it mean he could never leave the Lu family?
The more Song Ai thought about it, the more his head ached.
Lu Tingyun, however, had already read the evasion and hesitation in his eyes. After a moment, the man let out a soft sigh. He uttered a helpless “Fine,” and then leaned down to kiss him.
This kiss felt like it carried a sense of retaliation and punishment, fiercer than ever before. Song Ai tried to resist, pressing his hands against the man’s chest, but he couldn’t help being softened by the familiar touch and scent.
They were entangled, tongues dancing, silver threads of saliva connecting them. Fine, Song Ai had to admit he was a bit addicted too—but only to the kissing part.
“Mmh…”
Hearing his spouse’s involuntary hum, Lu Tingyun reached the limit of his restraint. His hand quickly went exploring…
A pair of rough, scorching palms pressed firmly against him. The friction brought a slight sting, yet it miraculously made Song Ai’s body even more sensitive. When the hand moved upward and his thumb brushed against Song Ai’s waist, Song Ai let out an uncontrollable gasp…
Lu Tingyun clearly heard it and gave a sudden, triumphant chuckle. His tone was smug: “You won’t admit it, but your body is very honest.”
Sensing his own physical reaction, Song Ai’s face flushed a deep crimson. He gritted his teeth. “Who—who the hell wouldn’t have a reaction to being touched? This is a normal phenomenon!”
“A normal phenomenon?” Lu Tingyun pulled away from his lips and stared down at him, intentionally asking, “Then why is your face so red?”
Song Ai swallowed hard. “It’s stuffy in here.”
Lu Tingyun laughed again. “It’s stuffy for me too. I’ll go turn on the air conditioner.”
With that, he abruptly climbed off Song Ai and actually went to look for the remote. The sudden emptiness in the bed let the cold, damp air in, and Song Ai couldn’t help but shiver.
Buried under the covers, he peeked out to watch Lu Tingyun’s back. The man had stripped down at some point, wearing only his underwear, standing there without a care in the world.
Because of his workout routine, Lu Tingyun’s physique was practically flawless. Combined with his handsome face, it was hard for anyone not to have thoughts about such a fit body.
Song Ai was staring so intently that he didn’t realize he had been caught. But Lu Tingyun didn’t return to bed immediately. Instead, he walked over to the mini-fridge, took out a bottle of water, and leisurely opened and drank it.
He took his sweet time.
For some reason, Song Ai felt a surge of irritation and cursed him silently. Finally, Lu Tingyun finished his water, set the bottle on the table, and walked back.
Song Ai immediately shut his eyes. His heart raced.
However, the sound of slippers on the floor stopped, then veered in the opposite direction, moving further away from the bed. Song Ai frowned and opened his eyes again.
The room was pitch black, but the occasional lightning strike allowed him to spot Lu Tingyun. He was sitting on the sofa in the corner, lighting a cigarette. He exhaled smoke rings at a slow, lazy pace, looking quite relaxed.
Dammit. Stopping halfway to smoke??
Song Ai felt like his chest was going to explode with rage. Even if he wasn’t “addicted” to the act, anyone would be furious in this situation!
How was this any different from reading a steamy novel in the middle of the night, reaching the climax, only to turn the page and find the author had cut the chapter right there?
Song Ai closed his eyes and endured it for two seconds before he couldn’t help but make a sound: “You…”
But after that one word, he didn’t know what to say. You what? Why aren’t you back in bed yet?? How the hell was he supposed to say that out loud?
His remaining logic regained the upper hand, and he gritted his teeth, keeping his mouth shut.
But Lu Tingyun acted like he’d caught him in a trap and asked, “What’s wrong?”
Song Ai: “…” Being caught red-handed made staying silent look like a confession. Song Ai twitched his lips and asked, “What are you doing over there?”
“Thinking.”
“About what?”
Lu Tingyun gave him a heavy look. “Thinking about whether my technique is too poor.”
Song Ai: “…” He knew he shouldn’t have said anything!
Twice bitten, Song Ai went completely silent. But after a few moments of quiet, the bed beside him dipped sharply. Lu Tingyun’s body was even hotter than before. Before Song Ai could dodge, he was pulled back into the man’s embrace.
The man’s heart was beating fast, and his grip was heavy—his arms wrapped tightly around Song Ai’s shoulders and arms as if he were trying to merge him into his own bones, fearing he might fly away the next second.
“What am I going to do with you?” The man’s deep voice came from above.
Before Song Ai could fully grasp the depth of those words, his chin was gripped by a large hand. His mouth was forced into an “O” shape—round and rosy—looking irresistible.
With his mouth squeezed like that, Song Ai couldn’t even deliver a proper insult.
“Lu… Ting-yong… let me… go!”
Lu Tingyun ignored the request. Instead, he tilted Song Ai’s chin up and gave him a quick, pecking kiss like a bird at a tree. Not satisfied with one, he took another.
A moment later, the man’s desire was reignited. Unable to hold back any longer, he used his tongue to roughly pry open Song Ai’s teeth. The faint scent of tobacco swirled between them as the heat rose once more.
However, just as Song Ai let out another involuntary moan, Lu Tingyun stopped again. He let go of Song Ai’s mouth and pulled his chest back slightly.
Song Ai opened his eyes in confusion, only to find the man staring at him with an appreciative, composed expression. The youth’s ears instantly burned red. He wanted to curse, but before he could, the man asked:
“Is my technique very bad?”
Song Ai froze, instinctively recalling their previous encounters. Aside from the first time being a bit painful, the times after that… were actually pretty good.
Lu Tingyun might actually be naturally gifted in this area. Even for someone as stubborn as Song Ai, he couldn’t bring himself to lie and say it was bad. He bit his lip and kept his eyes closed. “No.”
The man smiled with satisfaction, then asked piteously, “Then why aren’t you willing to date me? Even just giving me a status would be nice.”
Song Ai: “Aren’t we already married?”
“That’s just on the surface.”
“…”
Song Ai was truly out of options. How could this man be so relentless?
Besides, his own body was scorching hot right now, and he couldn’t find a single cold word to say. He simply couldn’t refuse! To chase him for a “status” in this situation… Lu Tingyun was far too cunning!
He couldn’t say no, but he couldn’t bring himself to say “yes” either. He was stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Lu Tingyun, seemingly seeing through him, took another step back: “Then it doesn’t have to be official dating. At least give me a ‘trial period.’ If you’re not happy, you can kick me out anytime. Deal?”
If they delayed any longer, Song Ai was going to lose the mood entirely. He grumbled, “Are you going to do it or not?!”
Lu Tingyun kissed his chin. “Tell me ‘deal’ and I’ll make you feel good.”
“…” Song Ai was completely defeated. He finally compromised, spitting out two words through gritted teeth: “Deal.”
Lu Tingyun’s lips curled into a smile. He leaned down and captured his mouth again.
…
A Sleepless Night
The storm had fully passed, and the sky outside was as clear as if it had been washed.
Song Ai groggily opened his eyes and saw his own bare reflection in the ceiling mirror. He snapped awake instantly.
How did he end up sleeping with Lu Tingyun again?!
Damn it. Lu Tingyun is a total fox spirit.
While cursing inwardly, Song Ai sat up and scanned the room. Aside from the mess of clothes on the floor, he saw no one.
Where did Lu Tingyun go?
Just as he was wondering when the man had left, his stomach gave a loud growl. After being put through the ringer multiple times yesterday, his bones felt like they were falling apart; it was no wonder he was starving.
Fortunately, the hotel’s second floor was a restaurant, which was very convenient. Song Ai lay there for a bit longer until he had enough strength to crawl out of bed and wash up.
Just as he finished washing his face, the door opened. Someone walked in. Song Ai poked his head out from the bathroom.
It was Lu Tingyun, carrying several bags.
Song Ai blinked. “You… went on a shopping spree?”
Lu Tingyun seemed to be in an exceptionally good mood. He nodded with an “Mhm,” then placed the bags on the table and took the items out one by one. It was a massive spread of breakfast—all sorts of varieties.
At the mere sight of it, Song Ai’s stomach started churning again, practically demanding he eat every single thing.
“Finished brushing your teeth?” Lu Tingyun asked.
Song Ai gave a muffled “Mhm.”
Lu Tingyun: “Then come and eat.”
Song Ai gave him a weird look but didn’t refuse. Following his hunger, he sat down.
Beyond the usual buns and dumplings found at any street stall, Lu Tingyun had brought back seafood rice rolls and seafood porridge that required a wait. They tasted excellent, and Song Ai ate with great satisfaction.
The moment he put down his chopsticks, Lu Tingyun handed him a wet wipe. Song Ai stared at it, feeling for a moment like he was being pampered like a baby.
Seeing him unmoved, Lu Tingyun looked eager: “Want me to wipe it for you?”
“…”
Song Ai immediately snatched the wipe and scrubbed his face.
Right then, Li Shang called to ask if he wanted to go explore the Old Town. Song Ai said yes, then turned to meet Lu Tingyun’s eyes.
“Don’t even think—”
Before he could finish, Lu Tingyun beat him to it with a considerate tone: “It’s fine. Go play with them. As your ‘boyfriend on probation,’ it’s only right that I stay at the hotel alone and wait for you.”
Song Ai: “…”
