My Gorgeous Wife Relies on Her Beauty to Commit Crimes - Chapter 18
Xie Jing’s hand paused as she reached for her clothes. Her phone lay beneath them, but Shen Jin pressed her palm down, silently pleading for her to stay.
Their gazes locked, and Shen Jin caught the suspicion flickering in Xie Jing’s eyes. Keeping Xie Jing’s hand trapped, she leaned forward, one hand gripping Xie Jing’s slender waist.
Xie Jing’s skin was like fine jade, smooth and warm to the touch so much so that it almost felt like caressing Warm Jade, an intoxicating sensation that made it hard to pull away.
As Shen Jin traced circles near the dip of her waist, Xie Jing’s legs weakened.
Her hands braced against Shen Jin’s shoulders, and out of the corner of her eye, she saw the edge of her phone peek out from beneath the clothes, disturbed by the shifting blankets.
Shen Jin’s fingers seemed enchanted. She leaned in close, her breath ghosting over Xie Jing’s skin as she whispered,
“Stay, won’t you?”
Xie Jing’s knees buckled, and she sank onto Shen Jin’s waiting thigh.
Shen Jin knew exactly where Xie Jing was most sensitive. Pulling her into a full embrace, she buried her face against Xie Jing’s chest and let out a low chuckle.
Xie Jing’s eyes flicked toward the phone, but her hands cradled Shen Jin’s head as she murmured softly, “You still suspect me, yet you dare ask me to stay? Aren’t you afraid I might do something to you while you sleep?”
“How do you plan to take advantage of me?” Shen Jin countered. “Isn’t it me who’s taking advantage of you right now?”
She nipped forward, and Xie Jing bit her lip, trembling.
This was worse than torture.
She needed to send the contents of her phone to her aunt, the sooner, the better.
Xie Jing closed her eyes. Best to get it over with.
At the height of passion, Shen Jin’s sharp gaze was predatory, like an eagle’s. She had thoroughly ravished Xie Jing, leaving her too spent to even lift her arms.
When Shen Jin’s lips brushed close again, Xie Jing already exhausted, her mind hazy, could only whimper weakly, “No more!”
Shen Jin hovered near her ear and asked once more, “Are you really Xie Jing?”
Xie Jing’s eyelids fluttered slightly. “Of course I am,” she mumbled, pushing weakly at Shen Jin, her voice breaking with restrained sobs. “Let me go…”
Shen Jin withdrew her hands, removed the finger cot, and sat beside Xie Jing with an unreadable expression. “Sleep. I won’t touch you anymore.”
Xie Jing instinctively closed her eyes.
She was utterly spent even a donkey at a millstone wasn’t worked this hard.
Shen Jin got out of bed, and Xie Jing’s phone slipped from the sheets, falling into the narrow gap beside the bed. Neither of them noticed.
Shen Jin grabbed a pack of cigarettes from the nightstand and stepped onto the balcony, shutting the door behind her. After smoking two cigarettes, she finally sent Chen Song a message.
Look into someone for me.
Despite the late hour, Chen Song replied instantly.
Who?
Shen Jin held the cigarette between her fingers, her slender hand gripping the phone as she typed: Xie Jing.
Got it.
How will you thank me?
Shen Jin lowered her gaze, flicking the ash from her cigarette.
Two million. Enough for her information?
Chen Song didn’t reply.
Shen Jin held the phone loosely, finishing her third cigarette before Chen Song finally responded.
Boss Shen, always so formal.
Shen Jin didn’t reply, turning off her phone instead.
At dawn, Xie Jing was roused by the sound of a door closing. She opened her eyes to an unfamiliar ceiling and sat up abruptly, the room was empty.
Memories flooded back. “Shen Jin?” she called out.
No answer.
Outside, birds chirped cheerfully as the sun rose, its light filtering through the sheer curtains, brightening the room.
Xie Jing grabbed her clothes and dressed hastily.
As she picked up the last piece, she realized her phone was missing.
Panicked, she rummaged through the bed, tossing aside the blankets but it was nowhere to be found. Just then, a knock sounded at the door.
“Miss Xie, are you awake?”
It was Aunt Ju.
Xie Jing was taken aback was Shen Jin no longer afraid of others discovering their disgraceful relationship? She had been so nervous the first time.
Xie Jing pursed her lips.
Aunt Ju, hearing no voices inside, pushed the door open and saw Xie Jing standing by the bed, her dark hair disheveled over her shoulders. She seemed to have slept poorly, with dark circles under her eyes.
Aunt Ju said respectfully, “Miss Xie, the boss had some urgent matters to attend to this morning and left early. She said you don’t need to rush to leave and are welcome to stay at Shen Manor for a few more days.”
Xie Jing nodded. Watching Aunt Ju tidy the room, she was about to leave when she frowned and asked, “How did Shen, how did Auntie explain it to you?”
Aunt Ju had just stripped the bedsheets and blankets. Hearing Xie Jing’s question, she replied dutifully, “The boss said you couldn’t sleep last night and came to her for a late-night talk. She told you not to worry though you can’t be family, you can still be friends. Since you have no one to rely on in the country, she wouldn’t feel at ease if you left the Shen family, so she wants you to stay without concern.”
Shen Jin had thought of everything.
A cold smile escaped Xie Jing’s lips. She turned to leave but then remembered her phone. Seeing that Aunt Ju had already stripped the bed and there was no extra phone on the floor, her expression darkened.
Had Shen Jin taken her phone? Was she still suspicious of her?
Thinking of the information on her phone, Xie Jing’s face changed. Fortunately, her phone was encrypted. Leaving Shen Jin’s room, she hurried back to her own and used her computer to contact her aunt.
Dawn had just broken in the country, but it was still night overseas.
Xie Jing’s message took a while to send before she remembered the time difference her aunt might not receive it immediately. She decided to go out and buy a new phone.
Rummaging through her luggage, Xie Jing was relieved she hadn’t yet adapted to domestic mobile payments she still had tens of thousands in cash on her.
She took out a few bills, went downstairs, and headed for the door. Spotting Aunt Ju just leaving Shen Tuo’s room after delivering his meal, she glanced over before changing her shoes at the entrance. There, on the shoe cabinet, she noticed an invitation.
To Ms. Shen Jin:
You are cordially invited to attend the photography exhibition at the Municipal Art Gallery on the 26th of this month.
Xie Jing picked it up and asked the cleaning auntie, “Is this for Auntie Shen?”
The auntie glanced up and said, “Yes, it arrived this morning.”
Xie Jing looked thoughtful. Smiling at the auntie, she said, “I’m actually heading to see her, I’ll deliver it for her.”
The auntie, suspecting nothing, let Xie Jing take the invitation.
Borrowing one of the Shen family’s cars, Xie Jing drove to buy a new phone. Searching online, she found details about the photography exhibition and spotted Lan Yiqing’s name among the judges.
Lan Yiqing was Shen Jin’s longtime friend.
Xie Jing narrowed her eyes. The 26th, she had an idea, but she needed to discuss it with her aunt first.
Dialing the number across the ocean, Xie Wanting answered.
“Why are you calling from a different number?”
Xie Jing replied solemnly, “I lost my phone. That’s not important, I’ve made a new discovery.”
She recounted everything she had seen the previous day and shared her thoughts in detail. Xie Wanting asked, “So you think Shen Jin might not willingly give up the Shen Group, and now that Shen Tuo is older, you can stir conflict between them, making them fight each other?”
Xie Jing affirmed, “Shen Jin has fought for the Shen Group for years. How could she just step aside for Shen Tuo simply because she’s an outsider? Shen Tuo is useless! Right now, she holds the smallest share and is working for the Shen family for free. No one would willingly give up that position! Once they start fighting, we’ll have our chance!”
Xie Wanting thought for a moment, “Then let’s proceed according to your plan.”
After finishing the serious discussion, Xie Wanting sighed and said, “Lele, while seeking revenge is important, don’t forget to take care of yourself.”
Xie Jing responded softly in acknowledgment.
Hanging up the phone, she drove straight to the Shen Corporation building. She hadn’t been here since returning to the country. Parking her car downstairs, Xie Jing gazed up at the imposing structure of the Shen building for a while before lowering her head and stepping on the accelerator to head to the underground garage.
Her lips pressed tightly together. To build this tower, the Shen family had trampled over countless souls beneath it. The Xie family had merely been one of their stepping stones back then!
