My Gorgeous Neighbor Is Cooking Every Day - Chapter 47
Chapter 47
Long Dao mocked her, “What private space do you two need?”
Xia Xingye looked at him, suddenly leaned towards Jiang Yingyue, and planted a solid kiss on her cheek with a loud “smack.”
She smiled provocatively at Long Dao, “Private space, we need this kind of private space.”
Long Dao stood frozen, looking at Xia Xingye and then at Jiang Yingyue. It took him a good while before he stood up and said with disgust, “No wonder you couldn’t forget her. So it’s this kind of relationship.”
He took a couple of steps and then turned back.
Xia Xingye immediately said, “Don’t look anymore. I know you’re a single dog.”
Long Dao immediately forgot what he was originally going to say and left hastily in three strides.
Once the person was gone, Xia Xingye turned her attention to the ropes binding them both.
Jiang Yingyue’s rope was somewhat frayed, but it was not that easy to completely rub through. Xia Xingye frowned, seeing blood on Jiang Yingyue’s wrists.
Xia Xingye asked, “Where did you rub it?”
Jiang Yingyue sighed, “On the ground.”
There were no sharp stones here, everything was cleaned up. Even the bars of the cage they were in were rounded. It was clearly impossible to rub the rope open on the bars. The only thing she could do was rub it on the ground.
“Don’t move, I’ll bite the rope open.”
Xia Xingye said, then fell backward, landing right behind Jiang Yingyue.
She rolled over, positioned her mouth near Jiang Yingyue’s wrists, and opened her mouth to bite the rope.
The rope was thick. She gnawed at it but couldn’t bite through, so she had to spit it out, bite a small section, and sever the fibers thread by thread.
After biting for a while, she hadn’t even reached halfway, and her teeth were aching terribly from the vibrations.
Xia Xingye pressed her cheeks, then poked her teeth with her tongue. Her teeth were sore, and she felt like they might fall out if she continued.
“What’s wrong?” Sensing the movement behind her, Jiang Yingyue turned to face Xia Xingye.
She moved the rope binding her slightly. The rope loosened a bit, but it wasn’t enough to break free.
Xia Xingye lay on the ground, looking up at Jiang Yingyue, and muffled, “I hope they don’t find fresh king crab too quickly.”
King crab might be easy to find, but fresh king crab would likely only be available at big hotels in this area. Other places wouldn’t have it without an advance order, as they were too far from the sea, making transportation costs too high.
“Let me do it,” Jiang Yingyue said.
“No need, I’ve already bitten halfway through. It would be a waste of time for you to take over now,” Xia Xingye argued logically.
Jiang Yingyue frowned. She saw that Xia Xingye’s lips were already cracked and bleeding, and her heart ached. She closed her eyes and said, “Okay.”
She didn’t want Xia Xingye to continue, but there was no other choice.
She had promised Xia Xingye to leave this place safely with her.
Jiang Yingyue strained at the ropes close to her, her wrists sinking deep into them, her bones clicking, but she still couldn’t break free.
She looked up and saw Xia Xingye urging her with her gaze. Jiang Yingyue reluctantly turned her back, handing it over to Xia Xingye.
As Xia Xingye leaned in to continue biting, she noticed that Jiang Yingyue’s wrists were much redder than before.
The abraded wrists were very obvious. Xia Xingye looked for a long time before withdrawing her gaze and lowering her head to bite the rope again.
The rope was mixed with blood. Xia Xingye couldn’t tell whether it was her blood or Jiang Yingyue’s.
Just as she was about to bite it open, footsteps approached again.
“Once you’ve eaten, be on your way.”
Xia Xingye immediately sat up, pretending nothing had happened.
The person behind Long Dao placed the king crab in front of the bars.
Xia Xingye hid behind Jiang Yingyue, only revealing her eyes, and said, “It’s not cooked, how can we eat it?”
Long Dao’s face was sullen. “Eat it or don’t eat it. If you don’t eat, we’ll send you on your way now.”
Long Dao must have done something outside, as he was suddenly in a great hurry.
They opened the iron door and reached out to grab Jiang Yingyue.
Xia Xingye panicked, but Jiang Yingyue spoke up, “Wait a moment.”
Long Dao signaled his companion to stop and asked her, “Any last words?”
Jiang Yingyue said, “My relationship with her isn’t very good.”
“Now you’re telling me your relationship isn’t good?” Long Dao looked at her speechlessly. “Do you think I’m easy to fool?”
They were just being intimate a moment ago, and now she was saying their relationship wasn’t good.
Although Long Dao didn’t have much schooling, only a few years of elementary school, he wasn’t truly stupid. How could he possibly believe what Jiang Yingyue said?
Jiang Yingyue looked at Xia Xingye and pointed, “Look at her mouth.”
Xia Xingye stared at them.
Long Dao and his companion looked over and saw blood on Xia Xingye’s mouth.
Long Dao asked strangely, “She wasn’t bleeding when we captured her, and she wasn’t bleeding just now. When did she start bleeding?”
“I don’t want to die with her,” Jiang Yingyue said. “So I hit her.”
Long Dao looked at Xia Xingye suspiciously.
Xia Xingye frowned and remained silent, looking displeased, as if she really had been hit by Jiang Yingyue, just as she said.
As he pondered, his subordinate spoke first, “Who cares if they’re really arguing? Just deal with both of them so we don’t have to worry about this or that later.”
Long Dao felt there was some truth to what his subordinate said. He nodded and said, “To be safe, it’s better to kill both of you.”
“Does your leader like to kill innocent people indiscriminately?” Jiang Yingyue asked.
Long Dao looked at Jiang Yingyue inexplicably and said loudly, “Of course not.”
“Since not, why kill innocent people indiscriminately? Aren’t you afraid she’ll turn into a vengeful ghost and come after you?”
Long Dao glanced at his companion and said thoughtfully, “You say you hate her, what proof do you have?”
“Can’t you tell if I hate her?” Jiang Yingyue said stubbornly.
Xia Xingye hadn’t said a word from start to finish.
Long Dao suddenly said, “In that case, why don’t you let her personally send you to the underworld?”
Long Dao first pulled out a dagger and threw it in front of Xia Xingye, saying, “She can’t move now. I’ll give you a chance. If you kill her, we’ll let you go.”
Xia Xingye looked at the dagger on the ground, then looked up and said, “I’m tied up right now. How can I kill her?”
“Figure it out yourself.”
Long Dao didn’t intend to say more to Xia Xingye and watched her from the side.
Xia Xingye hesitated and stepped forward, lowered her head to bite the dagger, but then spat it out.
The dagger clattered to the ground. Xia Xingye said, “If you don’t want to let me go, just say so. How am I supposed to do this?”
“So troublesome.” Long Dao walked forward with a look of disgust, used the dagger to cut the ropes binding Xia Xingye, then threw the dagger in front of her, and quickly retreated to keep his distance.
Xia Xingye gripped the dagger, looking fiercely at Long Dao.
Long Dao was startled and reached for the knife placed nearby.
Xia Xingye only glanced at him before withdrawing her gaze and looking at Jiang Yingyue.
Jiang Yingyue was quietly watching her.
Xia Xingye looked at the dagger in her hand, also quietly watching her.
The subordinate anxiously said, “Boss, let’s forget it. What if she’s playing a trick on us?”
The subordinate remained vigilant, watching Xia Xingye’s every move.
The ropes on Xia Xingye’s hands were untied, but the ropes on her feet were not.
In front of her were two adult men. She probably couldn’t win a two-on-one fight.
Xia Xingye held the dagger, shuffling little by little toward Jiang Yingyue.
When the two were less than half a meter apart, Xia Xingye stopped. She nervously pursed her lips, not knowing what to do.
Making her really hurt Jiang Yingyue was more painful than killing herself, but if she made any other move now, all their plans would fail.
“Can’t do it?” Long Dao stood up and walked toward Xia Xingye.
Xia Xingye subconsciously leaned toward Jiang Yingyue. She had a dagger in her hand; maybe she could fight.
But as she leaned towards Jiang Yingyue, Jiang Yingyue also leaned toward her.
The dagger in her hand seemed to have grazed something. She looked down and saw that Jiang Yingyue’s shoulder was already stained with blood, which flowed down the dagger to her hand.
She froze, the hand holding the dagger shaking uncontrollably. She let go, and the dagger fell directly to the ground.
Jiang Yingyue bumped Xia Xingye, gritting her teeth and glaring at Xia Xingye, looking as if she wanted to devour her alive.
Long Dao laughed loudly, “I didn’t expect you would actually harm your loved one to save your life. It seems your feelings for each other aren’t that deep after all.”
The subordinate asked worriedly, “Boss, are you really going to let her go? I feel like they’re just acting.”
Jiang Yingyue sneered, “Acting? Have you ever seen anyone harm themselves to act?”
When Jiang Yingyue said this, the subordinate became puzzled. Was he being paranoid?
“Alright, how many people would sacrifice themselves for others? They’re not that capable. Throw her out.”
Long Dao gave the order. The subordinate complied and stepped forward to drag Xia Xingye.
Xia Xingye felt cold all over, her face pale, and she was clearly terrified.
She was pushed down a slope. Dirt mixed with blood. A prolonged dull ache spread throughout her body. She snapped out of her daze.
Looking at her blood-stained hands, her head throbbed, and her limbs were weak and uncontrollable. She tried to get up several times but fell heavily back to the ground.
She kept falling, causing her knees to become bloody and bruised, until she finally stood up steadily.
She had to go back and find that Taoist priest. That priest could help her.
She looked back at the spot where she had rolled down. Her eyes had been covered on the way in. It was only after she was pushed down that the covering was removed, restoring her sight.
She had to hurry and find the priest before she forgot Jiang Yingyue.
After only two steps, Xia Xingye’s headache intensified. She clenched her fists tightly, her fingernails digging deep into her palms. The blood mixed with Jiang Yingyue’s blood, and she sobered up a bit.
She kept herself conscious through the pain.
The sky suddenly began to rain. Xia Xingye looked up. The rainwater fell into her eyes, and instantly, her world became blurred. She couldn’t see anything clearly.
Xia Xingye quickly bent down, trying to prevent the rainwater from washing away the traces on her hands.
But no matter how she tried to hide, in the open countryside with no shelter, the rainwater quickly soaked her entire body.
She tightly clasped her hands together.
“No, I can’t forget.”
She choked up, unable to distinguish the rainwater from tears on her face.
The pain made even her breathing taste of blood.
The downpour came suddenly and fiercely, as if trying to wash away everything related to Jiang Yingyue.
Xia Xingye had never hated a type of weather so much. She hated the rain, she hated this merciless rainy day.
She was fighting desperately to remember, fighting desperately to save Jiang Yingyue, yet her memory of Jiang Yingyue was intermittently blurring in her mind, making her clearly feel that she was forgetting things about Jiang Yingyue bit by bit.
The realization that she would forget Jiang Yingyue made her feel cold all over.
She fell to the ground, and this time, she couldn’t get back up.
She pressed her hands under her body in an awkward posture. The stinging warmth of the bloodstains still remained in her hands.
