My Ghostly Darling Cuddles Me Every Day - Chapter 22.2
Chapter 22.2
She could tell by Bo Yu’s expression that she was wondering if she was an official. In truth, she wasn’t an official at all; she had actually heard rumors that she had once slaughtered a few ghostly officials in the Netherworld.
“Have you ever seen a ghost? Are they all terrifying?” Bo Yu continued to ask Jin Xuan.
Jin Xuan shook her head slightly. “I don’t have the Yin-Yang Eye; I’ve never seen a ghost.”
Xie Yinwan: “Heh, useless.”
Jin Xuan continued, “That’s why I had to use dharma tools the day I went to your house. My master can see ghosts at a glance. He did say that ghosts who linger in the human world are usually quite frightening.”
Bo Yu followed up, “There must be beautiful ghosts too, right? Or if they are high-ranking officials, would they look very good?”
The words “very good-looking” pleased Xie Yinwan, and her lips curled upward.
“I’ve never heard my master mention any beautiful ghosts. If one really looked that good, it would probably be a Painted Skin demon or a Fox Spirit,” Jin Xuan remarked casually.
Xie Yinwan: “???”
You’re the Painted Skin! You’re the Fox Spirit! Your whole family is a bunch of no-goods!
As Jin Xuan was grilling the meat, a drop of hot oil suddenly spat onto her hand, making her jerk her right hand back. Then, another drop hit her left hand. She fumbled as she was stung several times in a row.
“Are you okay?” Bo Yu hurriedly handed Jin Xuan a napkin while turning down the temperature of the grill.
Jin Xuan rubbed her hands, which were starting to form small blisters. She laughed helplessly, joking, “Maybe the ghosts I captured these past few days are unhappy and are messing with me on purpose. It’s fine.”
Bo Yu was surprised. “The ghosts you capture can still mess with you?”
Jin Xuan laughed so hard she couldn’t straighten up. “I’m teasing you. How could a ghost mess with someone like that?”
Xie Yinwan messes with me all the time, Bo Yu thought, and she couldn’t help but laugh along.
As the two of them laughed heartily, Xie Yinwan’s expression grew darker and darker. After a long while, the two women finally finished their laughing fit.
“It’s suddenly a bit cold,” Bo Yu said, strangely stroking her shoulders.
Jin Xuan beckoned a waiter over and asked them to turn the air conditioning up two degrees.
Bo Yu smiled. “When I first met you, I thought you seemed like the sister next door. After hanging out a few times, my first impression was right.”
Jin Xuan teased her, “Then you can call me ‘Sister’ from now on.”
Bo Yu smiled and placed a piece of grilled meat on Jin Xuan’s plate. “We’re about the same age; I can’t bring myself to say it.”
Jin Xuan teased back, “But I might be able to call you ‘Little Sister’.”
Bo Yu shook her head with a smile, letting the topic drop.
Then, inexplicably, the temperature around them fluctuated between cold and hot. The waiter had to come back and adjust it several times.
“Alright, that’s enough,” Bo Yu said, patting Xiexie’s head. She joked, “Any more and my kid here is going to catch a cold.”
Only then did Jin Xuan stop calling the waiter. Curiously, the temperature around them stabilized on its own.
As they ate and chatted, Bo Yu asked another question: “By the way, is there anything ghosts are afraid of?”
Jin Xuan answered without hesitation: “Sunlight. If a ghost sees the sun, their soul will dissipate and they will vanish forever.”
“Is it that serious?”
“Mhm. Because sunlight belongs to the realm of the living. For a ghost to see the sun is a severe violation of the natural order.”
Bo Yu thought to herself that if she ever went out with Xie Yinwan again, she must be extremely careful with the time and make sure they returned before sunrise.
“What about cloudy days? Or if they use an umbrella? Would they still dissipate?”
Jin Xuan laughed. “No matter the weather, even during a thunderstorm, the sun is still hanging there.”
“So, they simply cannot appear at the same time as the sun.”
“Yes, that’s a more accurate way to put it. It’s not just about ‘sunlight’.”
Bo Yu understood. She didn’t dare risk going out with Xie Yinwan even on a cloudy or rainy day.
“Why are you asking all these things?” Jin Xuan had been observing Bo Yu’s expression throughout the meal. She noticed Bo Yu seemed deep in thought and asked softly, “Are you thinking about your mother?”
She had heard things about the Bo family from her master and knew Bo Yu’s mother had left early.
Bo Yu snapped back from her thoughts about Xie Yinwan, recalling that the ghost had said her mother wasn’t in this city. She decided not to ask Jin Xuan about her mother; she figured Jin Xuan wouldn’t know either. Since she had already asked Xie Yinwan for help, she would wait for her news.
Bo Yu nodded. “I think of her occasionally out of curiosity, but it’s nothing. By the way, in your line of work, do you have to stay up late often?”
Jin Xuan then began sharing interesting stories from her job.
As they ate and chatted, they completely failed to notice a pair of eyes watching them from a corner for a long time. Several photos were taken of them.
While they didn’t notice, Xie Yinwan’s gaze flickered. She saw that Bo Jingxian—that annoying sister—was tucked away in the corner.
After lunch, Jin Xuan invited Bo Yu: “My master usually stays on the mountain. If you’re interested, I can take you to see her next week. she was born with the Yin-Yang Eye and has seen much more of the underworld than I have. She’s even captured many evil spirits. She has a relaxed personality; if you have questions, she’s happy to chat.”
Bo Yu remembered the “fortune teller” she had met as a child. Back then, she was young and didn’t realize Master Guangming was a capable Daoist; she had dismissed her as a fraud. Now that she truly believed and was interested, she felt a bit guilty.
“I’ll think about it. If I have questions, I’ll ask Master Song.”
“Sure, just don’t be a stranger.”
“I won’t.”
Bo Yu drove Jin Xuan back to her shop. They parted ways by the car. Jin Xuan stood there for a long time, watching Bo Yu’s car disappear into the distance, before turning back into the shop with a light smile.
Xie Yinwan was tipsy and angry. Very unhappy.
After Bo Yu brought Xiexie home, she first placed the doll in front of the air purifier to get rid of the smell. A BBQ restaurant inevitably left a scent, and she preferred Xiexie to smell fragrant.
Xie Yinwan was blown dizzy by the air.
That night, Bo Yu washed herself thoroughly, leaving no scent of body wash. She sat by the bed looking at her calligraphy book while waiting for Xie Yinwan, but the ghost still didn’t show up. It had been six days. With a heavy heart, Bo Yu fell into a deep sleep.
She woke up in a sun-drenched field of flowers.
Vibrant blossoms of every color were in bloom. Bo Yu closed her eyes, feeling the warmth of the sun on her face. It was very comfortable.
Suddenly, she was pulled into an embrace.
And then, she was kissed!
Without any time to react, she was held and kissed!
Bo Yu tried to push the person away in disbelief, but as her hands touched the other person’s body, she felt a familiar sensation. Slender, soft, as if she might break at a touch—a boneless body. It was Xie Yinwan.
Bo Yu opened her eyes and saw Xie Yinwan’s closed eyes.
But… how could it be Xie Yinwan? Why was she kissing her?
This realization made Bo Yu try to push her away again. Sensing the resistance, Xie Yinwan refused to let go. She gripped Bo Yu’s shoulders, kissing her with intensity.
It’s been a week! I’ve waited a whole week! Last time only lasted a few seconds!
She loved the softness of Bo Yu’s lips. She loved it so, so much.
She loved Bo Yu’s hesitant compromise. Bo Yu stopped pushing, and her lips were pried open. Their tongues met—so soft and tender. Xie Yinwan sucked and swirled, wanting to bite off that soft tongue and swallow it whole.
Bo Yu’s body soon went limp. She didn’t know what was happening; she only knew her tongue was numb, her lips were numb—it felt as if they no longer belonged to her. She fell into a trance-like state of lost consciousness.
Isn’t Xie Yinwan a ghost? Can’t I never touch her?
Yet, here was Xie Yinwan, kissing her. Xie Yinwan’s lips and tongue were as soft as the cream she had tasted, like a dense cake. Soft, sweet, fragrant. It tasted of peach blossom wine. Intoxicating and enchanting.
Bo Yu’s awareness blurred further.
Xie Yinwan tasted Bo Yu with desperation, wanting to reach the very back of her tongue. She swallowed Bo Yu’s saliva, stole the oxygen from her mouth, and teased her tongue and teeth. She loved this so much; it felt so good. She wanted to kiss Bo Yu this forcefully forever, making everything about Bo Yu belong to her.
Only to her.
She hated that stinky Daoist! And today, she hated Bo Yu too!
Bo Yu had gone on a private date with that Daoist, served each other food, chatted so happily, and even called each other “sister.” Bo Yu had even asked the Daoist about the underworld and what ghosts were afraid of, and they even planned to meet again.
She hated it. She hated it so much. She wanted to kill that Daoist, and she wanted to eat this “Little Fish”!
In her daze, Bo Yu felt like she couldn’t breathe. She instinctively tilted her head back. Xie Yinwan’s mind was wandering, and Bo Yu successfully pulled back, ending the kiss. However, Xie Yinwan’s hands remained on Bo Yu’s waist, refusing to let her fully retreat.
Bo Yu gasped for air, looking at Xie Yinwan.
Xie Yinwan was also breathing heavily. Her long hair draped over her shoulders, topped with a colorful flower crown. She wore a holy, translucent white veil. Her cheeks were flushed, her eyes like shimmering water, and her lips were glistening.
She was so beautiful. Xie Yinwan was stunning, and the field of flowers was breathtaking.
But where was this? Why did Xie Yinwan kiss her? Kissed her until her tongue was numb and her lips were burning hot.
“My darling baby, don’t you recognize Sister anymore?” Xie Yinwan’s voice was as soft as water, tinged with a bit of grievance. Her hands stroked Bo Yu’s lower back.
“I… let me think.” Bo Yu felt her body go soft from the touch. She reached back to grab Xie Yinwan’s wrists, trying to pull her hands away.
Xie Yinwan didn’t let go; she pulled her even closer.
“…”
Bo Yu looked at her blankly. After a long while, her oxygen-deprived brain finally regained some clarity. She remembered: “Is this… a dream?”
Xie Yinwan nodded, her voice breathless but tender: “It’s a dream. Sister has waited for you for so long. Did Baby miss Sister?”
Bo Yu stammered, “I… I don’t know.”
Xie Yinwan sneered internally. Of course you didn’t miss me; you were so happy eating with Jin Xuan! You two were laughing so loudly!
“Baby, Sister missed you so much.”
“…”
Bo Yu couldn’t distinguish if this was her own inner thought—did she want Xie Yinwan to miss her, or did she secretly miss Xie Yinwan?
She had just kissed her. If she didn’t count the few seconds from last time, this was her first kiss. It felt like they had kissed for a very long time—ten minutes? Twenty? It made her pulse race and her heart pound as if it were going to jump out of her chest.
To kiss someone in a dream for that long… Bo Yu was too guilty to look at her. She looked around. “Where is this?”
“A field of flowers. Does Baby like it?”
“I do. It’s beautiful.”
“Does Baby want a flower crown?”
Bo Yu looked at the beautiful crown on Xie Yinwan’s head and shook her head. “No need. You look very beautiful in it. I’ll just watch you wear it.”
“Am I pretty, or is the flower crown pretty?”
“You are.” Bo Yu didn’t hesitate for a second.
Xie Yinwan laughed happily. She leaned into Bo Yu’s ear and whispered, “Then look at me some more. Look at this field of flowers. Keep me, and the flowers, and ‘us’ in this field, forever in your heart, okay?”
Bo Yu looked out at the endless field of flowers stretching to the horizon. The sun quickly dipped, turning into a sunset that filled the sky with a thousand rays of light. She looked at the Xie Yinwan beside her. Xie Yinwan’s rosy cheeks were reflected in the red glow of the dusk, and the crown on her head seemed to bloom in the light.
Xie Yinwan’s eyes were bright, her smile beautiful. She seemed like the most beautiful existence, surpassing all the scenery in the world.
“Okay. I’ve kept it in my heart,” Bo Yu said softly.
Overjoyed, Xie Yinwan threw her arms around Bo Yu’s shoulders and sat on her lap.
Bo Yu looked around in surprise—the scenery had changed again. White curtains fluttered around them. She was sitting on a large white bed, with the sound of crashing waves nearby.
“The seaside?” She looked up at Xie Yinwan.
Xie Yinwan sat astride Bo Yu’s lap, her body soft as if she had no bones. Her breathing was weak, and sweat broke out on her forehead and face. She cupped Bo Yu’s face. “It’s the seaside. Baby, Sister doesn’t feel well. Do you have an Anning Pill?”
Bo Yu: “?”
Xie Yinwan was asking for an Anning Pill? Was the Xie Yinwan in her dream an Omega?
“Are you a Kunze (Omega)?”
“I am. Baby, Sister is a Kunze.”
Bo Yu’s face flushed with guilt again. Was it her deepest desire for Xie Yinwan to be an Omega? Did she want Xie Yinwan to be in heat so that she could comfort her?
If the real Xie Yinwan knew she was imagining her like this in a dream, she would probably kill her instantly. “How dare you desecrate this Immortal?” She could almost hear Xie Yinwan’s cold, arrogant scolding before slapping her.
“Baby, Sister is in her ‘Dew Period’ (Heat). It hurts so much.” Xie Yinwan lowered her head, pressing her sweaty, hot cheek against Bo Yu’s cool one. Her voice was soft, coquettish, and raspy.
Bo Yu didn’t know what to do; her hands were nowhere to be placed. She couldn’t take advantage of someone. Besides, she had no experience. Even in a dream, she couldn’t be so rude.
“Baby, hold Sister, okay?”
Bo Yu’s hands had been propping her up on the bed. She slowly raised them to wrap around Xie Yinwan’s waist. It was a waist so slender and soft it felt like a snake; she felt that if she used even a little force, she might break it.
“Baby, leave your mark in Sister’s scent gland, okay?”
She wanted a marking.
Bo Yu closed her eyes, again wondering if this came from her own hidden desire to mark Xie Yinwan. But she had never thought about it! Why was this conversation happening in her dream?
“Where is your scent gland?” Bo Yu asked.
She had never thought Xie Yinwan was an Omega, let alone that she would have a gland, and she didn’t know where it was.
Xie Yinwan took Bo Yu’s hand. Gasping lightly as Bo Yu did during her rut, she guided Bo Yu’s hand to her scent gland. Bo Yu unexpectedly touched a soft gland and reflexively pulled her hand away in disbelief.
How could this be?
Why were her scent gland and Xie Yinwan’s in the exact same place?!
“Baby? Do you not like Sister?” Xie Yinwan’s voice was wounded and sobbing.
“I… I’m sorry. This isn’t right. This is wrong.” Bo Yu shook her head apologetically.
The second she said those words, Xie Yinwan vanished into thin air. The large white bed with its fluttering curtains vanished as well.
Bo Yu looked out; she was in the middle of a vast, limitless desert. Her feet were sinking into the scorching sand. Fierce winds whipped sand through the air. Bo Yu raised her arm to shield her eyes. Her vision was blurred, her breathing labored. She turned away from the wind and screamed: “Xie Yinwan!”
She was standing on the highest sand dune, spinning around and searching the swirling dust for any sign of a person. She looked at the darkening sky, but there was no one. No Xie Yinwan.
“Xie Yinwan, I’m sorry! Come back!”
Bo Yu screamed until her throat was filled with sand, until she was coughing. “Xie Yinwan! Immortal! Where are you? Come back!”
Suddenly, a massive gust of wind knocked Bo Yu over, and she went rolling down the sand dune. She thought she would roll forever, but after only two rotations, she tumbled straight into Xie Yinwan’s arms.
Xie Yinwan was holding her waist on a bed in the middle of the flower field. This bed had no curtains; the sky was their blanket and the earth was their mat.
“Baby, are you willing to leave your mark in Sister’s scent gland now?” Xie Yinwan gently stroked Bo Yu’s cheek.
Bo Yu touched her face. There was no sand; it was perfectly clean, as were her hands. She stared at Xie Yinwan and saw that the veil she had been wearing was gone. Everything was gone.
Panicked, Bo Yu tried to take off her own shirt to cover her.
“No one is watching, my baby. This is your dream. No one is watching.”
“But I can see.”
“But you aren’t ‘someone else’.”
Xie Yinwan took Bo Yu’s hand. Two lines of clear tears fell down her pale cheeks. “Are you unwilling? Little Fish, clearly this is what you want in your heart.”
“Don’t… don’t cry.” Seeing the tears on Xie Yinwan’s face felt like seeing a terrifying beast; Bo Yu’s voice cracked with urgency.
“Then kiss me.”
“…”
She didn’t dare. She didn’t dare offend the Xie Yinwan in her bedroom, and here in her dream, she didn’t dare either.
Xie Yinwan closed her eyes, waiting for the kiss that never came. She opened them to see Bo Yu’s hesitant expression.
What does this mean? Bo Yu was actually hesitating?
Why didn’t you hesitate when you agreed to eat with Jin Xuan?! Why didn’t you hesitate when you were laughing with her?!
Xie Yinwan was angry and anxious. She had no choice but to take the lead and kiss her again. This time, the kiss was deeper and more urgent than before.
This was the third kiss. Bo Yu felt as if she were undergoing training. She unconsciously fell into it, kissing Xie Yinwan back. Her palm rested on Xie Yinwan’s waist, feeling the tenderness of her skin.
Xie Yinwan’s excitement rose again. Thrilled, she took Bo Yu’s hand to touch her scent gland.
The moment Bo Yu touched it, she was startled and tried to pull away. But Xie Yinwan gripped her hand tightly, refusing to let her move even half an inch. Forced, Bo Yu’s fingertips rested on the gland.
Xie Yinwan tilted her head back with a shiver.
“Stroke it some more, Baby. Stroke it more.”
Bo Yu didn’t know how to stroke it. With a burning face, she touched it to the left, then to the right.
Xie Yinwan’s body began to tremble violently.
“Faster, Baby.” Xie Yinwan had never felt anything like this. Her voice trembled as she urged Bo Yu.
