Shi Yue was destined to be entangled with the two siblings next door.
The elder brother was named Ji Chenchuan. He was five years older than Shi Yue, possessed excellent grades, and had a steady personality. He took care of Shi Yue like a little adult, and Shi Yue loved being cared for by him. The younger sister was born on the same day, month, and year as Shi Yue.
In the eyes of both sets of parents, Shi Yue and the sister shared a great destiny and were meant to be together. Consequently, they suggested that Shi Yue should be the sister’s child-reared groom. At five years old, Shi Yue heard this term for the first time and asked the adults what it meant.

He wondered if Shi Yue was unable to hear properly, as he was certainly not a daughter.
During their second year of high school, Shi Yue met Ji Chenchuan at the airport as he returned home after graduating from university. Upon seeing him, Shi Yue immediately lunged toward Ji Chenchuan and hugged him tightly. Under public scrutiny, Ji Chenchuan quickly ended the embrace.
He could not understand why Shi Yue, who was now seventeen years old, still insisted on throwing himself at him as he did when they were children.

“No, it is not.” Despite saying no, Ji Chenchuan still snuck out of his house at one in the morning to provide that hug.
Feeling that their distance was too intimate, Ji Chenchuan attempted to maintain a safe distance from Shi Yue. However, when he could not reach Shi Yue by phone, he became frantic with worry. He hired a locksmith to force open the door to Shi Yue’s home, only to find Shi Yue unconscious in the bathroom.
