My Ex’s White Moonlight Omega Has a Crush on Me - Chapter 30.1
Tears rolled down her cheeks, uncontrollable.
Overwhelmed by the oppressive aura emanating from Ji Tanyue, she felt as if she had been stripped bare and seen through completely.
A few stark red marks stood out on her cheeks, shocking to behold. Chao Wan, trembling slightly, held onto her last shred of composure, her shoulders quivering as she stared with red-rimmed eyes.
“I… I have no name…”
The sound of a gentle, unending rain seemed to echo in her ears.
This scene marked the first meeting between Han Yun and the young guard.
It was a day of torrential rain. Starving refugees from Duan County swarmed in, frantic and desperate. Countless straw sandals were lost in the mud, and many were trampled to death in the chaos.
The people, like ravenous wolves, welcomed the gentle woman who descended like a goddess to provide relief. Only one girl, thin as a monkey, crouched under the eaves, disdainful and filled with hatred.
What was there to fight over? It was just some watery, worthless porridge.
But the woman, beautiful as if not of this world, seemed to hear her thoughts. She crouched down right in front of her.
A bamboo umbrella sheltered them both, and a warm beef pancake was pressed into the girl’s arms.
“Follow me, and you can eat pancakes like this every day,” the woman said, her lips curving into a gentle smile beneath the umbrella as she gazed at the girl, who resembled a little wolf under the eaves. “You…”
For some reason, her words trailed off. Suddenly, she frowned delicately, withdrew a handkerchief, and covered her mouth.
A few light coughs later, the white handkerchief was stained with a continuous pattern of red plum blossoms.
The girl stared, stunned.
Her wariness eased considerably.
Clutching the beef pancake, she widened her eyes, which seemed like two clear springs breaking through the soot-darkened surface of her face.
Han Yun calmly tucked the handkerchief away as if nothing had happened, smiling as she reached out to tousle the girl’s messy hair.
“Will you follow me?”
The girl lowered her head and took a bite of the pancake.
It was so delicious that she nodded vigorously, unable to help herself.
With that one agreement, she handed over the next decade and more of her life.
She was willing to become the darkest shadow trailing behind her.
When she snapped back to reality, the tears at the corners of her eyes had already been gently wiped away by someone’s fingertips.
Ji Tanyue sighed softly and withdrew her hand.
Chao Wan shrank back, hugging herself into a small ball, and whispered an apology, “I’m sorry, Teacher Ji.”
In the script, the young guard at this point was still prickly and guarded. Though fearful, she hadn’t reached the point of shedding tears.
Even though she tried to empathize and immerse herself in the role, she could never quite control the subtleties of her performance.
Rubbing her aching face, her eyes remained red. Chao Wan reached for the script, studying it carefully.
Suddenly, the script was quietly taken from her hands.
“No need to look at it anymore,” Ji Tanyue’s voice was gentle, returning to her usual tone. “Come upstairs with me.”
Chao Wan stood up, her mind still dizzy, filled with the imagined scenes from the script.
Following Ji Tanyue, she thought for a moment before asking softly, “Are we going to review my performance?”
Ji Tanyue slowed her pace slightly. Without turning around, her voice carried a hint of laughter. “If you’re willing, of course we can.”
Chao Wan’s eyes widened. Rubbing her cheeks, which were growing warm with embarrassment, she deeply regretted saying anything extra.
When they reached the bedroom, Ji Tanyue took her pajamas and went to wash up. Before leaving, she placed the contents of her handbag on the table, gesturing for Chao Wan to look.
Only when the sound of footsteps faded and the faint noise of running water echoed through the empty villa did Chao Wan gather the courage to look through the items.
They were all documents related to West River Moon. Among them, one sheet about casting caught her attention.
[Shadow (Han Yun’s Guard): Jiang Tang, Chao Wan (pending)]
Her heart suddenly began to beat uncontrollably, pounding loudly.
Even though she had refused before, had Ji Tanyue still given her the chance to play this role?
In the moment of stunned hesitation, the sound of water from the bathroom had already ceased.
A woman wrapped in a black silk nightgown emerged, her lips curling slightly as she looked at Chao Wan, who had already shrunk to the edge of the bed.
With a soft click, the lights went out.
In the darkness, she embraced the trembling, panicked girl and drew her into her arms. “How do you plan to reflect on this?”
Unable to see the other person, Chao Wan fumbled for a long time, her voice trembling:
“Ji… Teacher Ji can decide…”
She couldn’t refuse, and any suggestion she made would be twisted by Ji Tanyue into some ambiguous request. It was better to just obey.
Chao Wan didn’t realize that her words had already taken on a submissive undertone, nor did she notice how her actions—clinging to the woman’s waist, her flustered breaths, were particularly suggestive.
Ji Tanyue’s hair was not completely dry, and the strands brushing against Chao Wan’s face felt slightly itchy.
Groping in the dark, Chao Wan pushed a few strands aside, only to be met with sudden warmth.
Nose to nose, the heat between them gradually intensified. The pleasant scent of shampoo lingered in the air, mingling with the fragrance of flowers.
She was pulled by Ji Tanyue into the soft blankets, lying together as they exchanged lingering kisses until they were breathless.
An intimate reflection that required more than just words.
Only, it inevitably lasted a little too long.
Chao Wan felt intoxicated by the rich, sweet floral scent, struggling to break free only after breaking into a light sweat.
“Teacher Ji…” Her waist held firmly in the woman’s embrace, she tugged lightly at the collar of Ji Tanyue’s nightgown, pleading, “That’s enough.”
Even if her acting wasn’t great, she would study the script more carefully next time.
Otherwise, she’d be kept up all night, tormented.
Ji Tanyue kissed the tip of her ear and went along with it. “Tired? Alright then.”
But she showed no intention of letting Chao Wan return to her own room, still holding her tightly.
Their hair tangled together, mingling with the ambiguous atmosphere, like the tenderness shared between lovers before sleep.
Chao Wan carefully shifted to a more comfortable position, but her heart felt as if it were being squeezed, pounding so hard it might leap out of her chest.
This might have been the first time she was so intimately close to Ji Tanyue while fully conscious.
As her awareness gradually faded, just before falling asleep, she faintly heard Ji Tanyue’s gentle question:
“Chao Wan, did anyone come looking for you here today?”
Detecting no displeasure in the tone, Chao Wan curled up, letting her guard down as she nodded, nestling into the woman’s soft, fragrant embrace.
Her hair was gently stroked, a soothing sensation, as Ji Tanyue spoke: “Sleep.”
Chao Wan finally closed her eyes, overcome with drowsiness.
But that night, whether in a dream or a continuation of the scene before sleep, she felt as if someone was unreasonably continuing to stir trouble, leaving her breathless and tearful.
That person was wicked, always releasing her lips just as she was about to run out of breath, only to pull her back when she tried to escape, continuing to deliver an unbroken stream of tender kisses.
The floral scent, too, seemed tinged with a restless impatience, carrying a faint bitterness. Wrapped in the woody notes, she could no longer break free.
…
Waking early the next day, Chao Wan sat up and habitually surveyed her surroundings.
She noticed an unexpected presence.
Ji Tanyue, who was usually nowhere to be seen, was still in the room today.
With her back to Chao Wan, she was tending to a flower stem, carefully trimming it before placing it in a porcelain vase by the window.
The petals were delicate and crystalline, the stem a vibrant green, a double-flowered tuberose.
Hearing the faint sounds of movement, Ji Tanyue pulled back the curtains.
Sunlight streamed into the room.
She nodded towards Chao Wan, “The company hasn’t scheduled anything for you today. Get ready and come with me.”
After giving her instructions, the woman said nothing more and left the bedroom with her assistant, who had been waiting outside.
Once Chao Wan had tidied herself up, she glanced back discreetly at the elegant, pure white flower by the window before leaving.
It was crystal clear and unassuming, even its fragrance was faint, carrying a milky sweetness.
But only those who shared the room with it at night would know, it was an intoxicating allure, a dangerously captivating beauty.
