My Ex’s White Moonlight Omega Has a Crush on Me - Chapter 24.2
As she was lost in thought, the suppressant was taken from her hand.
Chao Wan looked up to see Ji Tanyue already tying up her hair, holding a stack of neatly ironed silk pajamas, as if preparing to bathe.
“Then we won’t use it,” she said gently, her gaze resting on Chao Wan.
“But since you brought it up, shouldn’t you do something about it?”
Chao Wan’s eyes widened.
They had already kissed and embraced, what else could she possibly be expected to do?
“Go get your pajamas. Tonight, I still need your pheromones,” Ji Tanyue said as she stepped into the bathroom.
Chao Wan bit her lip in bewilderment.
But… she had only asked out of casual concern.
The bathroom door closed, the frosted glass blurring the silhouette of the woman’s graceful figure.
Soon, the faint sound of running water filled the room, accompanied by the gentle fragrance unique to bathing.
Blushing, Chao Wan approached and lightly tapped on the glass door, hoping to protest one last time.
“Ms. Ji, I…”
“It’s in the contract,” the voice from the bathroom was softened by the water, tender yet carrying a hint of laziness. “Or would you prefer to join me?”
Heat rushed to her cheeks, leaving Chao Wan speechless.
How could there be so many contractual obligations?
Pursing her lips, she went to examine the open contract on the bed, hoping to find a loophole to counter Ji Tanyue.
But she soon gave up, the wording was convoluted and complex, and she could barely understand it.
With no other choice, Chao Wan reluctantly went to her room to fetch her pajamas.
When the bathroom door opened, she hugged her clothes and brushed past Ji Tanyue, who carried the pleasant scent of her recent bath, slipping into the bathtub like she was playing hide-and-seek, her heart racing.
The bathroom was spacious, yet the fragrance of tuberose lingered intensely in the air. Chao Wan bathed in a daze, nearly falling asleep in the tub.
Half-asleep, she felt someone enter and lift her out of the water.
The person paused for a moment, wrapping her in a towel.
The suppressant patch on the back of her neck had long been soaked and lost its effect.
That night seemed particularly difficult to endure. The rising temperature and the wafting floral scent that drifted near and far made Chao Wan sleep extremely restlessly.
The carved antique wall clock in the living room struck twice. Outside the window, the streetlights and moonlight intertwined, casting a serene glow.
In a daze, or perhaps in a dream, Chao Wan suddenly felt someone gently but firmly nipping the nape of her neck with their lips.
That person showered her with continuous kisses, even leaving marks with the tips of their teeth, not stopping until every inch was imbued with their scent.
In a low voice tinged with possessiveness, they asked Chao Wan, “…Has she ever done this to you?”
Has Qin Siyu ever been this intimate with you like I have?
Overwhelmed with drowsiness, Chao Wan let out a soft whimper and instinctively curled up, trying to escape.
Unable to bear it any longer, she murmured softly, “Mm, no…”
Even in her past life, she had never felt this exhausted, let alone now.
After a moment of silence behind her, everything finally quieted down.
Chao Wan, still frowning, remained on guard, curling herself into a pitiful ball, a faint blush appearing at the corners of her eyes.
Suddenly, a cool touch brushed against her cheek, gently smoothing out the furrow between her brows.
Ji Tanyue pulled her into her embrace, tightening her arms silently as if afraid someone might snatch her away.
She lowered her gaze, planting a kiss on Chao Wan’s hair, and whispered, “Sweet dreams.”
Even though she had just escaped a nightmare and desperately wanted to prove that everything wasn’t an illusion, Ji Tanyue still wished for Chao Wan to have sweet dreams.
The next morning, she woke up feeling damp all over.
Chao Wan groggily rubbed her eyes, turned over, and got out of bed, instinctively heading toward the direction of her uncle’s bathroom.
But she found nothing.
Her mind slowly processed the situation for a moment before she cautiously glanced toward the direction where the floral scent had lingered the night before, then looked back at the bed she had just left.
She instantly became much more awake.
Ji Tanyue had already left.
Suddenly, there was a light knock on the door, followed by a cheerful voice.
“Chaochao, are you up? Can I come in?”
It was a familiar voice.
Chao Wan blinked in confusion a couple of times before turning the doorknob.
Xiao Sui, dressed in casual clothes, looked at her, her eyes instantly lighting up with delight. “You’re really here!”
Her gaze drifted downward, studying Chao Wan for a few seconds before tilting her head in confusion. “Chaochao, what happened to your neck? Did an early autumn mosquito bite you?”
Chao Wan followed her gaze and suddenly felt her cheeks burn.
She hastily took a few steps back and quickly closed the door.
Her heart pounded loudly.
Biting her lip, she boldly rummaged through the wardrobe in the room and finally found a silk scarf, using it to cover all the marks Ji Tanyue had left behind.
She opened the door again.
“Chaochao, just now…?” Xiao Sui asked, puzzled.
“Miss, it’s getting late. We should discuss business.”
A woman’s voice suddenly interrupted from not far down the hallway.
Chao Wan stiffened.
The voice was identical to the butler’s from the phone call the day before.
The woman in a suit dress stood in the shadows of the hallway, her gaze sweeping over Chao Wan with a detached expression.
Chao Wan felt somewhat uneasy.
She had seen this person before, the one who had relayed Ji Tanyue’s message in the park late at night and accompanied Ji Tanyue when leaving the escape room. It was the same woman.
Although she couldn’t recall her face clearly, the suit dress and meticulously styled bun seemed to serve as identifying features.
Reminded by the interruption, Xiao Sui also composed herself, finally remembering the main purpose of her visit. “Chaochao, congratulations on signing with Sijin!”
She shyly touched her head and continued, “So, it was this older sister who found me and told me that you still needed an assistant…”
Chao Wan widened her eyes and exchanged a glance with the woman in the suit skirt, receiving a nod of confirmation in return.
So… this must also be Ji Tanyue’s intention.
Pulled downstairs by Xiao Sui, she sat in the reception room to discuss the matter for a while, and with little resistance, it was settled.
After seeing the girl off, Chao Wan stood at the entrance, gazing wistfully at the outdoor scenery for a long moment before finally closing the door.
The door cut off the last sliver of sunlight, and the room returned to its quiet solitude.
A sudden wave of melancholy washed over her.
The contract had been signed, and last night, she had been entangled with Ji Tanyue.
This time, she was truly caged.
From now on, even if she could walk freely under the sun, receiving praise and affection as before, she would never shake off the label of being Ji Tanyue’s plaything.
Just like the mark on her neck that wouldn’t fade quickly.
Starting over wasn’t necessarily worse than her previous life, but it certainly wasn’t much better either.
“Miss Chao.” Someone suddenly called from behind her.
The woman in the suit skirt rose from the sofa, approached her, and extended a hand politely but distantly. “Hello, I’m Yu Yunjia, a Beta, and Teacher Ji’s secretary.”
“Hello.” Chao Wan shook her hand softly, her voice barely a whisper.
After speaking, she stole a glance at the woman but found no trace of disdain or the kind of scrutiny one might give a caged bird. Her eyes were calm and unreadable.
She seemed like an emotionless work machine.
“You may rest here for a while. Later, someone from the company will come to pick you up for the contract signing photos,” she said.
Chao Wan bit her lip lightly. “Miss Yu, after the photos… can I go home?”
As soon as the words left her mouth, she recalled the awkward silence during yesterday’s phone call and lowered her eyes in embarrassment.
Of course not.
Secretary Yu paused briefly before replying, “Teacher Ji specifically instructed that you may.”
Ji Tanyue… specifically instructed this?
Chao Wan’s eyelashes fluttered in surprise.
“There are still some matters to attend to at the company. If you need anything, Miss Chao, feel free to call me anytime.”
“Then, I’ll take my leave.”
Secretary Yu picked up her Oxford handbag from the sofa, nodded in farewell, and left the villa.
Once again, Chao Wan was alone in the vast space.
The table was still set with a delicate breakfast, as if she were being fed.
But this time, Chao Wan didn’t dare to defy Ji Tanyue’s wishes. To fill her stomach, she forced herself to eat a little.
The woman’s emotions were unreadable, gentle enough to cradle her tenderly in her hands at times, yet cold and detached when displeased, as if she were a completely different person.
To avoid provoking Ji Tanyue’s displeasure and the deliberate difficulties that might arise during the evening’s pheromone soothing, Chao Wan had no choice but to obey.
After eating some congee and crystal dumplings, she dabbed her lips with a tissue and carefully replaced the lids.
Then, she glanced furtively at the surveillance camera in the corner of the living room.
As if to say, “I’ve eaten properly.”
Before long, her phone vibrated.
[y: Eat well.]
[There are some clothes in the cabinet in my bedroom. You can choose an outfit to wear before the shoot.]
So, she really was watching her through the surveillance.
Chao Wan let out a soft sigh, her fingertips cold as she replied to Ji Tanyue.
[Okay.]
The feeling of being closely watched still made her uncomfortable.
She had returned to Ji Tanyue’s room.
The air still carried traces of lingering pheromones from the previous night. Though Chao Wan couldn’t detect her own scent, she could distinctly perceive the tuberose fragrance belonging to Ji Tanyue.
Following the instructions mentioned by the woman in their chat, she pulled open the middle drawer of the cabinet in the corner of the room.
