My Ex’s White Moonlight Omega Has a Crush on Me - Chapter 12
Chao Wan bit her lip, her heart racing so fast she couldn’t muster a rebuttal.
In the darkness, her cheeks burned hot, partly because of the pervasive floral scent surrounding them, and partly because of the woman’s uncomfortably close proximity.
How could it be Ji Tanyue? How could it be such a coincidence?
Would a prestigious triple-crown actress really come to play such a lowbrow escape room game?
She lifted her head slightly, using the cold white beam of the flashlight to catch a glimpse of the woman’s eyes above the mask.
The woman was also looking down at her, her eyes shimmering with a faint glow, reflecting Chao Wan’s own blurred image.
Beyond that, there was also a hint of something elusive, some subtle emotion.
Ji Tanyue quickly averted her gaze, calmly smoothing down the inhibitor patch on the back of her neck.
“Shall we continue the experiment?” she asked softly.
Her words were directed at the NPC in front of them.
But the NPC was already too stunned to speak, so he could only look up and cast a pleading glance toward the surveillance camera in the room.
The game controller coughed lightly. “Well then… let’s continue.”

How could they possibly continue? The suspense and horror of the solo mission were completely ruined. He might as well just hand over the clues directly.
After a half-hearted attempt at scaring them, the NPC finally exchanged the red potion bottle in Ji Tanyue’s hand for a prop note, mentally exhausted as he shooed them out.
No. 27 Jiangchao Road. The door slowly closed behind them.
Chao Wan’s eyelashes fluttered slightly as she tried to push away Ji Tanyue’s hand, which was still wrapped around her waist. “The mission is over.”
Silence lingered for a couple of seconds.
Beneath her mask, the woman’s lips curled into a faint smile. She withdrew her hand and stepped back voluntarily. “Alright, let’s take a look at the clue.”
Outside the room, the girl and the two boys exchanged uncertain glances, hesitating for a moment before finally speaking up:
“Um… earlier, the NPC didn’t give you too much trouble, did he?”
What she really wanted to say was, “You didn’t give the NPC too much trouble, did you?” but she managed to rephrase it at the last second.
The girl secretly patted herself on the back for her tact. Noticing the slightly intimate distance between the two and Chao Wan’s red-rimmed eyes from being startled, she inwardly cheered.
The relationship between these two Alpha powerhouses was clearly that of a couple, the kind who fight outside the escape room but make up inside. I’m totally shipping it.
Chao Wan had no idea what the others were thinking. Feeling deeply embarrassed, she wiped the corner of her eye and consciously put some distance between herself and Ji Tanyue.
Yet she could still feel the woman’s gaze lingering around her, carrying a quiet, observant quality.
For some reason, she felt overwhelmingly wronged.
She lied to me.
She could have revealed her identity as soon as they entered. If she had, things wouldn’t be so awkward now.
From the moment they stepped in until now, every moment of her flustered embarrassment inside the escape room had been witnessed by Ji Tanyue.
Chao Wan suddenly felt like a fool, a fool who failed at everything she did, always the butt of ridicule.
And to make it worse, she had Ji Tanyue, the epitome of a perfect “white moonlight,” as a constant comparison.
The team began analyzing the clues. Chao Wan silently shifted her position, standing a little farther away from Ji Tanyue.
The woman glanced at her but said nothing.
The game was nearing its end. The clue Chao Wan had obtained during her solo mission was crucial, they were just one step away from unraveling the entire mystery.
After a long period of intense brainstorming, they finally deciphered the clue, and the location of Room 28 slowly came to light.
But just then, the infrared lights overhead, which had been moving slowly, suddenly went out. The NPCs playing the “infected” began to stir, lunging at the players as scripted.
In the chaotic chase, Chao Wan didn’t know which branching path she had taken, and her flashlight was knocked away in the crush.
The mechanical door automatically closed, leaving her separated and pushed alone into an unknown area.
In the darkness, fear grew silently.
Chao Wan repeated the words “it’s just a game” in her mind, feeling her way along the wall, her heart pounding.
Suddenly, a light flickered on in the corner.
Her heart tightened abruptly. Clenching her fingers, all her composure vanished.
Even though it was just a game, without her teammates who had always been by her side, and without Ji Tanyue, the fear clung to her like a persistent parasite.
Under the light, a handsome NPC in a white lab coat appeared in Chao Wan’s line of sight, smiling faintly.
“Congratulations, this is Area 28. You’ve successfully escaped Jiangchao Road.”
Chao Wan glanced at him warily and didn’t respond.
The NPC shrugged and gestured to the device behind him. “It’s fine if you don’t believe me. Here, this is the only button to open the exit.”
“What about the others?” Chao Wan’s voice trembled slightly.
“The other side of the branching path leads to the gas chamber. They mistakenly entered it and have already…” The NPC’s tone was regretful.
Chao Wan still didn’t move. After a long silence, she whispered, “No way.”
Ji Tanyue had always been so sharp before, everything she said and did was correct. There was no way she would easily fall into the script’s trap.
“Why not?” The NPC suddenly turned ferocious, lunging at Chao Wan with a jump scare.
Chao Wan was so frightened that her fingers turned cold. Staring blankly, without even thinking, her eyes reddened.
Tears streamed down her cheeks silently, yet somehow revealing a fragile vulnerability.
This, in turn, startled the NPC.
He took a step back, cleared his throat, and apologized, “Sorry about that…”
Chao Wan sniffled.
After a moment’s thought, she asked sincerely, “Would you be interested in trying out as an extra in Hengdian?”
The NPC froze.
But before he could respond this time, there was a click in the room. A hidden door opened, and several people rushed in, quickly subduing him.
Suddenly, a hand took hers.
At the same time, a clear, melodious voice filled with concern sounded beside her ear, “Are you okay?”
Chao Wan looked over in a daze, catching her own disheveled reflection in Ji Tanyue’s eyes. Only then did she realize that she had been scared to tears, and rather pathetically so.
“I’m fine,” she mumbled, lowering her head to wipe her tears.
On the other side, the girl and two boys were teasing the NPC.
“So, you’re the final boss, huh? Oh my, why is your face so red?”
The NPC smiled sheepishly.
Then, following the script, he obediently let himself be tied up in a chair, showing none of the usual arrogance of a villain.
Ji Tanyue released her hand and motioned for Chao Wan to follow. “Let’s go. This is the final scene.”
The group retreated to another room and pressed the button.
Through the glass window, they saw the room Chao Wan had been in earlier blaring with alarms, simulating a gas release.
Meanwhile, the room where the five of them now stood slowly filled with a faint white light.
The rolling shutter door lifted, and the broadcast announced their successful escape.
“We almost fell for the trick,” the girl said with a look of relief.
“Both buttons in the rooms were gas devices, but they controlled the mechanisms in the other room.”
She casually sidled up to Ji Tanyue and glanced at Chao Wan. “Luckily, this sister told us not to press the mechanism, or you would have been eliminated!”
“Hmm…” Chao Wan glanced at Ji Tanyue before quickly averting her gaze.
So that was the “poison gas” switch. So, Ji Tanyue hadn’t chosen to press it either.
Even though they had been separated, could this be considered a rare moment of unspoken understanding between them?
The group walked to the entrance and retrieved their phones.
“Perfect teamwork!” the girl exclaimed, her face flushed with excitement. “How about we exchange contacts? We could carpool together in the future.”
Chao Wan had intended to refuse, but to her surprise, Ji Tanyue gave a slight nod and agreed.
Left with no other choice, she had to go along with it.
A few unfamiliar profile pictures now filled her contact list. The girl was named Chu You, while the two boys had such common names that Chao Wan didn’t even remember them.
After bidding them farewell, Chao Wan tucked her phone away, stole a glance at Ji Tanyue, and pursed her lips quietly.
She really wanted to slip away unnoticed while the woman wasn’t paying attention.
But she couldn’t.
Because Ji Tanyue was already walking toward her.
The woman had shed the polite, spring-like smile she used with others, and the emotions in her eyes remained as unfathomable as a deep pool.
As the distance closed between them, Chao Wan’s eyelashes fluttered nervously, and she didn’t dare look up.
Because, just a few days ago, she had defied the woman’s wishes and fled the villa on her own.
The corridor was empty. Ji Tanyue removed her mask and stood quietly in front of Chao Wan.
After a moment, she seemed to smile, her voice gentle and pleasant:
“I’ve already added them. So, what about your contact information?”
