My Clingy Fiancée Is Forcing Me to Marry Her Again - Chapter 41.2
Zheng Lier smiled, the sharp look in her eyes softening a bit. “Anyone who sees Li Fangge will be captivated. In terms of looks, I’m not even in the same league as her.”
“Wow, Sister Lier, when have you met Li Fangge?” Guan Xiaorong exclaimed. “How beautiful is she? Even you praise her like this!”
“All the beauty in the entertainment industry combined is not half of hers.”
“In that case, I really want to meet her right now!” Guan Xiaorong turned to Guan Xiaoyu. “Ayu, huh?—When can you arrange it?! You should know that I’m the kind of person who can’t wait a second.”
“I have to ask Sister Li first.”
Guan Xiaoyu actually didn’t want to introduce Li Fangge to anyone.
The truth was exactly as Zheng Lier had said: anyone who saw Li Fangge would inevitably be captivated by her.
Not to mention, she possessed things a thousand times more precious than beauty.
Just then, Guan Xiaorong’s maid came over to say that lunch was ready.
Guan Xiaorong stood up and said she was going back to her room for a moment, asking them to go to the dining room first.
Guan Xiaoyu led Zheng Lier toward the dining room.
Sitting down at the dining table, Guan Xiaoyu knew it wasn’t the best time for a serious talk, but recalling that she didn’t often get a chance to meet Zheng Lier alone, the question weighing on her heart came out. “Sister, do you—do you like my sister?”
Her hesitant, uncertain tone revealed her hope that this was not true.
“Did your sister tell you that?”
Zheng Lier found this little sweetheart quite interesting.
She didn’t ask Guan Xiaoyan this, but came to ask her instead.
To say their sisters’ relationship was bad, the little sweetheart’s tone clearly showed concern; but to say it was good, she was seeking answers from someone else.
Zheng Lier found it a bit puzzling.
Guan Xiaoyu shook her head.
Zheng Lier hadn’t asked which sister she was referring to, which meant she knew what the matter was.
Guan Xiaoyu continued: “My sister wouldn’t tell me things like that.”
“—Guan Xiaoyan really is, years of being the same!”
“Sister, is it inconvenient for you to answer my question?”
“I don’t like her.” Zheng Lier was very direct.
“Then why do you look at my sister with that kind of gaze?”
“If I told you your sister asked me to look at her like that, would you believe it?”
“Why?”
“Go ask her.”
“…She won’t tell me.”
“Then, sister won’t tell you either.”
Zheng Lier saw Guan Xiaoyu’s face turn red and the smile on her lips deepened a little.
“That’s fine. It’s good that sister doesn’t like my sister.”
“Hmm, I know she has someone she likes.”
“I see.”
So that’s how it is, Guan Xiaoyu thought. She stopped talking and looked at the dishes on the table.
Several of the dishes were ones Li Fangge liked, so she took out her phone, snapped a picture, and sent it to her. “Lunch at Guan Xiaorong’s house. See you this afternoon, I’ll pick you up in a bit.”
“Today, I’ll pick you up,” Li Fangge instantly replied. “Send me the location pin.”
“Okay.”
Guan Xiaoyu’s smiling expression, reflected on her phone screen, fell into Zheng Lier’s eyes.
After replying to the message, Guan Xiaoyu looked up, and Zheng Lier was still watching her.
“Sister, why are you looking at me like that—is there something on my face?”
Guan Xiaoyu’s voice carried a cheerful lightness. Her smile had the color of an apple blossom about to bloom in the morning light—pink mixed with white, bright and beautiful.
“Yes, there is,” Zheng Lier seemed to be infected. She smiled again.
Guan Xiaoyu had a completely opposite aura to her sister; happiness seemed to be something easily attainable for her.
“What is it?” Guan Xiaoyu subconsciously wiped her small face, even raising her phone to use the camera as a mirror. “There’s nothing.”
She didn’t think Zheng Lier would tease her, as they weren’t familiar enough for that kind of joke.
“It’s something others can see.” Zheng Lier seemed infected by Guan Xiaoyu, feeling inexplicably happy, and her sharp features softened considerably.
“I don’t quite understand what sister is saying.”
Guan Xiaoyu didn’t like such riddles.
She then glanced towards the dining room door, wondering why Guan Xiaorong hadn’t come yet.
“Happiness. It’s on your face.”
“Oh, that.” Guan Xiaoyu realized. “I just got a message from Sister Li.”
She smiled, not hiding her joy at receiving a message from Li Fangge.
“She—must love you very much,” Zheng Lier said.
“I guess so. I’ve started to think that recently too. But more than that, being free to like Sister Li makes me happy.”
Guan Xiaoyu’s tone revealed a clarity beyond her age, as if she had long understood that between gaining and giving, the latter was closer to joy.
“Li Fangge is very lucky.”
“No, no, no,” Guan Xiaoyu shook her head. “I’m a thousand times luckier than Sister Li. I won’t praise her too much, as it might seem like I’m blowing my own horn, but I truly feel it’s so wonderful that Sister Li exists in this world.”
“That must be the feeling of being in love.”
“No, no, no, it’s not just love; there’s other stuff too.”
“Like—”
“Hey! What are you two talking about behind my back?” The loud and boisterous Guan Xiaorong arrived before her voice did…
Although Li Fangge had a premonition that she would see Zheng Lier again soon, she didn’t expect to see her under these circumstances.
At 3 p.m., she drove to the location Guan Xiaoyu had sent her.
After parking the car, as she rolled down the window, she saw three women under the shade of the trees all looking at her.
The joy-filled Guan Xiaoyu;
And the overly curious—Guan Xiaorong;
And the tallest one, Zheng Lier, whose gaze was as sharp as ever, giving the impression of a judge scrutinizing something.
The afternoon sun shone, making everything sparkle. Li Fangge pushed the car door open and stepped out.
The surroundings were instantly overshadowed by her presence. She was wearing a simple red shirt paired with black capri pants. If they hadn’t seen her with their own eyes, everyone would surely think her flawless face only existed in the most beautiful dreams. The lines of her arms looked meticulously sculpted, and even the most talented painter would fail to capture her incomparably graceful figure.
Guan Xiaorong wasn’t seeing Li Fangge’s photo for the first time.
The photos were from her high school days. In a group of adolescents who had yet to fully mature, she stood out, but she wasn’t as unforgettable beautiful as she was now.
Before leaving the house, Guan Xiaorong had provocatively challenged, “If Li Fangge isn’t more beautiful than the entire entertainment industry, will you promise to come eat with me every day until I recover, Sister Lier?”
“You’ll lose!”
Zheng Lier ignored her, but Guan Xiaoyu interjected.
Guan Xiaorong didn’t think she would lose. “If I lose, I’ll listen to everything Sister Lier says from now on, and I’ll never be willful, cause trouble, or disobey again—”
Hearing the high stakes, Zheng Lier, who hadn’t planned on leaving the house, replied, “Deal!”
Before Li Fangge arrived, the three of them stood under the pine tree by Guan Xiaorong’s gate.
The moment Li Fangge stepped out of the car, Guan Xiaorong realized that she had mistakenly taken Guan Xiaoyu’s affirmation as a rhetorical question.
Looking at Li Fangge’s unparalleled beauty, she knew she had lost, completely and thoroughly.
Li Fangge, unaware of the wager, walked toward them with composure.
“Sister Li!”
The loud shout, full of warmth and affection, was late but arrived nonetheless.
Li Fangge walked toward Guan Xiaoyu, who was rushing toward her.
Before leaving, she had mentally prepared herself to see Guan Xiaorong, but Zheng Lier’s presence was still a slight surprise.
Li Fangge allowed Guan Xiaoyu to cling to her arm. The two walked together to the edge of the pine tree’s shade.
Half of her body was still exposed to the sunlight. The interplay of light and shadow made her appear even more radiant.
Guan Xiaoyu introduced Guan Xiaorong to her.
Li Fangge, habitually treating her like a junior, smiled faintly and said, “Hello.”
Guan Xiaorong, who was always revered by others, completely forgot her top star status. Her eyes, staring at Li Fangge, were a little wide. “That voice—Sister Lier, hurry and support me, I’m intoxicated, utterly intoxicated!”
She dramatically leaned onto Zheng Lier.
Zheng Lier didn’t step away. Her palm wrapped around Guan Xiaorong’s shoulder, easily steadying her.
“Sister Li, I don’t need to introduce this sister, right?”
Meeting Zheng Lier’s sharp gaze again, Li Fangge couldn’t help but recall the system’s new task. She replied, “Mhm, no need.”
“We’re quite fated,” Zheng Lier said.
Li Fangge knew she was referring to the previous car accident and responded, “Perhaps.”
“Sister Lier, let’s go swimming too! I want to see Li, Li—” Guan Xiaorong suddenly realized that calling her by name might be inappropriate and intentionally stuttered. “That, Ayu said I’m a year older than you. Can I call you by your name—”
Li Fangge’s aura was like the sun, making the fearless Guan Xiaorong feel greatly pressured.
“Of course, you can.”
“Sister Lier, why does the world have such a beautiful voice? And not only that, why must she also look so—she’s so beautiful I don’t dare look into her eyes!”
“Ask Miss Li yourself,” Zheng Lier avoided Li Fangge’s gaze.
This woman truly was like the sun, shining with boundless light without realizing or caring.
Li Fangge smiled and turned to Guan Xiaoyu. “Shall we go?”
“Mhm. Sister Rong, we’re leaving. Sister Lier, goodbye.”
Guan Xiaoyu’s voice was sweet, accompanied by a happy undertone.
“Sister Lier, I want to go too—”
“You lost. Now I want you to stay home and recover,” Zheng Lier said.
Guan Xiaorong was about to say something else. She looked at Li Fangge again, nodding with heartfelt admiration. “I did lose, but I want to stand by the pool and watch Li Fangge swim. Can I? I think if I look at Li Fangge more, I’ll definitely get better faster.”
Everyone was amused by her words.
“Sister Rong, you can’t, today is just for Sister Li and me.”
Guan Xiaoyu flatly refused.
After speaking, she took Li Fangge’s hand, turned, and walked toward the car not far away.
