- Chapter 43 - The First Time
Is this actually starting?
Seeing the final sentence, Ji Zeyuan’s fingertip unconsciously applied pressure, and a tear split through the paper.
Just as she was about to turn the page, the familiar “di-li-li” sound echoed from the doorway. She hurriedly closed the notebook, but before she could return it to its place, she looked up and saw Zhang Linen holding a kitchen knife.
Zhang Linen held her arm up guardedly, her gaze fierce and tense. Upon seeing Ji Zeyuan, she visibly froze. After a few seconds of stagnation, her gaze dropped to the grey-covered notebook.
With a “clang,” the kitchen knife hit the floor. Zhang Linen rushed forward, snatched the notebook from Ji Zeyuan’s hands, and threw it forcefully into the trash bin.
“How… how did you find this place?” Zhang Linen’s voice trembled violently.
Breaking and entering, plus rummaging through someone’s private notes, and being caught in the act—yet Ji Zeyuan showed no sign of guilt. She looked directly back at Zhang Linen and said, “I asked Auntie Zhang.”
After a few seconds of silence, Zhang Linen’s voice stabilized slightly, though it remained faint. “How much did you see?”
Ji Zeyuan pondered for a moment before deciding to hide the truth. “I had just opened it and saw the photo when you walked in.”
Upon hearing this, Zhang Linen’s tense expression relaxed significantly. She lowered her eyes gloomily, turned to pick up the knife from the floor, and placed it back on the kitchen rack.
Ji Zeyuan rose to follow her. After putting away the knife, Zhang Linen turned to pick up her coat, which she had tossed haphazardly onto the sofa. The living room was small; as soon as Zhang Linen turned around with the clothes, she came face-to-face with Ji Zeyuan.
“Xiao Yuan, you…” Zhang Linen started to speak but hesitated. She frowned and took her coat into the bathroom.
This time, Ji Zeyuan did not follow. She sat down awkwardly on the sofa. Before long, the sound of splashing water came from the bathroom. Her heart skipped a beat: Is Zhang Linen taking a shower?
But she didn’t seem to take a change of clothes with her just now, did she?
Ji Zeyuan mentally cursed herself for her “dirty” thoughts. She pinched her thigh and silently recited the company’s employee handbook to seek inner peace.
After waiting for five minutes, the water continued to run. She suddenly remembered she hadn’t eaten dinner yet, so she walked to the bathroom door with her phone and asked, “Xiao En, have you eaten?”
Zhang Linen’s muffled voice came through the sound of the water: “No.”
Ji Zeyuan returned to the sofa and began browsing a delivery app for tonight’s dinner.
The tedious process of choosing food gradually calmed her restless heart. After placing the order, she set her phone aside and waited for Zhang Linen to finish.
About half an hour later, Zhang Linen emerged from the bathroom wearing a white bathrobe, her shoulder-length black hair still dripping with water.
“Aren’t you going to wash up?” Zhang Linen sat down beside Ji Zeyuan. Ji Zeyuan’s nerves tightened instantly. Forcing herself to stay calm, she said, “I… I ordered food. I’ll head back after dinner.”
Zhang Linen’s eyes were deep. She stared fixedly at Ji Zeyuan for a few silent moments before turning her face away. “Why did you come looking for me?”
The conversation returned to the main point. Ji Zeyuan’s expression regained its composure as she said seriously, “Why didn’t you tell me you resigned? Doing this will affect your—”
Zhang Linen cut her off. “Go wash your hands. Aren’t we about to eat?”
Ji Zeyuan blinked, looked down at her hands, and—as if possessed—followed Zhang Linen’s instruction, heading to the bathroom to wash her hands clean.
Returning to the living room, Ji Zeyuan intended to resume the previous topic. Shaking the water from her hands, she sat back in her original spot. Before she could speak, Zhang Linen suddenly leaned in and pressed a light, fleeting kiss against the corner of her mouth.
The scent of grass-flavored Omega pheromones flooded the room, making the signal unmistakably clear.
“Can we talk about that later, hmm?” Zhang Linen placed her right hand on Ji Zeyuan’s left shoulder and gave a gentle push. Ji Zeyuan followed the force, leaning back against the sofa’s armrest.
Ji Zeyuan’s throat rolled with thirst. After a brief moment of internal conflict, only one thought remained: Forget it.
With that thought, she cupped Zhang Linen’s chin. Their lips met, noses brushed, and tongues intertwined as their breathing grew heavy.
After kissing for a while, Ji Zeyuan pushed Zhang Linen back slightly, gasping for air. “Wait, I… I need a break.”
Zhang Linen knitted her brows, her tongue licking her cherry lips with lingering desire. Before Ji Zeyuan could catch her breath, Zhang Linen leaned back in and kissed her again without hesitation.
Ji Zeyuan’s breath was blocked again before she could even inhale. Zhang Linen was as impatient as a hungry tiger pouncing on a sheep; her fingertips wove through the hair at the back of Ji Zeyuan’s head, holding her firmly so she couldn’t escape.
Amidst the heated entanglement of lips and tongues, the doorbell suddenly rang.
Zhang Linen’s body jolted. She finally released Ji Zeyuan, who was nearly suffocating, and asked irritably, “Who is it?”
Ji Zeyuan took several deep breaths. “It should be the delivery I ordered.”
Both fell silent. After ringing a few more times, the doorbell stopped. Soon, the sound of retreating footsteps echoed in the hallway.
“Release more pheromones.” Zhang Linen’s tone was urgent, almost commanding. Ji Zeyuan was happy to oblige, releasing a large amount of sweet, cloying pheromones.
Rose and grass blended together, competing and intertwining within this small space.
The two continued their dalliance for quite some time until this minor form of relief could no longer satisfy them, and they began the next step.
Before the action truly started, Ji Zeyuan suddenly stopped. Her face was flushed, appearing as though she were about to fall over the edge, yet she was still desperately holding back. Panting, Zhang Linen asked impatiently, “What’s wrong?”
“Is this okay? It’s my first time… I haven’t prepared in advance.” Ji Zeyuan’s brow was furrowed, her voice low and raspy.
Zhang Linen’s breathing slowed. Her heart stirred with ripples of emotion. “It’s my first time too. We’ll take it slow.”
Ji Zeyuan’s eyes flickered. She leaned forward and tenderly pecked the corner of Zhang Linen’s lips.
Is this starting?
Ji Zeyuan’s fingertips trembled slightly as she made a gentle attempt. Zhang Linen bit her lip and let out a suppressed low moan from her throat. Her pheromones suddenly surged, as if startled.
“How is it?” Ji Zeyuan brushed the damp hair from Zhang Linen’s forehead and whispered.
Zhang Linen looked at her askance, rubbing Ji Zeyuan’s slender white forearm. She frowned and said, “Bad.”
Ji Zeyuan: “…”
That one simple word ignited a competitive fire in Ji Zeyuan’s heart. She used one hand to pin both of Zhang Linen’s wrists, searching and exploring again amidst the lush spring colors.
Zhang Linen’s expression shifted from flushed to dark until finally, when Ji Zeyuan curled her knuckles, she couldn’t help but push her away.
“Very bad.” Zhang Linen curled her upper body and turned her back. Looking at Zhang Linen’s beautiful, butterfly-wing-like shoulder blades, Ji Zeyuan bit her lip in confusion. There was no turning back now; she couldn’t stop.
Seeing that Zhang Linen was unwilling to cooperate, Ji Zeyuan released a massive amount of pheromones while carefully leaning over to nuzzle the back of Zhang Linen’s neck. She said pitifully, “Xiao En, give me another chance.”
As she spoke, Ji Zeyuan’s lips brushed over the bite mark on the back of Zhang Linen’s neck. Zhang Linen’s body trembled, and she let out a low moan, showing signs of surrender.
Ji Zeyuan pressed her advantage, burying her head in the crook of Zhang Linen’s neck, her warm breath sweeping across Zhang Linen’s sensitive earlobe.
Suddenly, as if inspired, she leaned against Zhang Linen’s shoulder and spoke the words she had kept buried in her heart for so long.
“I love you.”
Zhang Linen instantly snapped out of the humid haze of the pheromone battle. Ji Zeyuan’s kiss fell on the side of her face as she murmured, “I really, really love you.”
A long time ago, I already loved you very, very much.
In an instant, Zhang Linen lost all her strength. Her body went soft, leaving her at Ji Zeyuan’s mercy.
Sweat dripped onto the back of the sofa. Zhang Linen pressed her hand against the wall, and in the midst of the violent tremors, her forehead bumped against the wall.
While occupied, Ji Zeyuan used her hand as a cushion over Zhang Linen’s forehead, protecting her fragile bone.
Fingertips left scratches on the wall, and kisses fell like raindrops. After the intensity came a lingering, gentle warmth.
Ji Zeyuan lay on the sofa with her legs curled up, her amber eyes staring blankly at the living room ceiling.
Zhang Linen lay on top of Ji Zeyuan, gazing at her face, her fingertip tapping Ji Zeyuan’s sharp chin over and over.
The lingering scent of pheromones remained in the room. After a long silence, Ji Zeyuan spoke slowly, “Are we together now?”
Zhang Linen’s finger brushed over her sharp brow bone, her lips curling slightly. “This…”
Sensing the hesitation in Zhang Linen’s voice, Ji Zeyuan sat up hurriedly, grabbed Zhang Linen’s arm, and asked urgently, “We’ve gone this far, you aren’t going to say ‘no,’ are you?”
Zhang Linen remained silent, staring at her. After a moment, she kissed Ji Zeyuan’s lips and smiled.
Ji Zeyuan was stunned for a good while before finally realizing the meaning behind Zhang Linen’s silence. She happily pulled her into an embrace.
“But we can’t let others know for now,” Zhang Linen instructed. Ji Zeyuan nodded, then leaned down to suck on Zhang Linen’s lips again, and Zhang Linen responded actively.
The sofa was too small; huddling there was incredibly cramped. After kissing her, Ji Zeyuan began planning their schedule: “Pack your things in a bit and move everything to my place.”
Without a moment’s hesitation, Zhang Linen said, “No.”
This unexpected rejection stunned Ji Zeyuan. She let out a whiny “Ah?” and asked, “Why? Don’t you want to live with me?”
Zhang Linen said seriously, “Those are two different things. I can stay at your place, but I won’t empty out my home. What if we get into a fight?”
Ji Zeyuan immediately declared, “I won’t fight with you. Even if we do, I’ll be the one to leave, okay?”
Zhang Linen’s smile faded slightly. She pushed Ji Zeyuan away, stood up, and donned her bathrobe. “You certainly won’t fight; after all, your specialty is the silent treatment.” With that, she headed toward the bathroom.
Ji Zeyuan was speechless, her head drooping in undeniable defeat.
The sofa was a mess, the velvet fabric covered in damp marks. Ji Zeyuan stripped the sofa cover and threw it into the trash. She looked down to find the slippers she had lost during the “battle” but only found Zhang Linen’s white canvas shoes scattered at opposite ends of the room.
Ji Zeyuan shuffled to the bathroom door wearing Zhang Linen’s shoes. Zhang Linen had already taken off the bathrobe and was running the water.
The water splashed loudly. Zhang Linen lowered her eyes, appearing hesitant to speak. Ji Zeyuan watched her quietly. After a moment, Zhang Linen looked up again. “If we live together all the time, you might get tired of my issues. Every once in a while, I might need some time to fix myself. I don’t want…”
Zhang Linen didn’t finish. Ji Zeyuan only half-understood, but she nodded in agreement anyway and said softly, “Whatever makes you feel comfortable.”
