My Brother's Arranged Marriage Partner Is My Boyfriend - Chapter 73
“What do you plan to do next?” Zhou Lin asked. “The Cao family will definitely do everything in their power to protect Cao Huaiyuan. With only these pieces of evidence, and after so many years have passed, it will be very difficult to send him to prison.”
Mo Leyang didn’t speak. He took out his phone and dialed Mo Yichen’s number. “Put my brother on the line,” he commanded.
The secretary who answered the phone froze for a moment, seriously doubting if someone had hacked the account. But he was all too familiar with Mo Leyang’s voice—there wasn’t a second person in the world who sounded that arrogant.
“Who is on the phone?” Mo Yichen asked curiously, seeing his secretary dazed.
The secretary handed over the phone. “The… the Third Young Master is calling.”
Mo Yichen’s brows furrowed. His relationship with Mo Leyang was like fire and water; while they hadn’t reached the point of killing each other on sight, it certainly hadn’t reached the absurd level of calling each other for no reason.
“What did he say?”
The secretary hesitated for a moment before saying, “The Third Young Master said, ‘Put my brother on the line.'”
Pfft—
The coffee Mo Yichen had just sipped was instantly sprayed out in shock. Unless they were in front of the Old Master, Mo Leyang would never call him “brother.” Even if he did, he would add the word “Big” to it; he would never call him so intimately.
He wiped himself with a napkin and said incredulously, “Are you sure he’s the one calling and his account hasn’t been hacked?”
The secretary simply handed the phone over. “Young Master, you can listen for yourself.”
Mo Yichen took the phone. “This is Mo Yichen.”
“Brother, it’s me.”
“Cough, cough, cough—”
“Brother, are you sick? What’s wrong with that secretary next to you? He doesn’t even know you’re sick. Fire him later, and I’ll choose a secretary for you—guaranteed twenty-four-hour attentive service.”
“No need.” Mo Yichen felt that the sun might actually set in the east today. “I remember our relationship hasn’t quite reached this level of closeness.”
Mo Leyang was a master of being flexible when needed. “Brother, we are family. Family members don’t speak like strangers.”
Both the secretary and Zhou Lin were stunned. For a person to reach this level of audacity, their skin had to be thicker than a city wall. But Mo Leyang clearly didn’t care about that. Pride was nothing compared to avenging his wife.
“Brother, help me with something,” Mo Leyang went straight to the point. “Lend me that lawyer the Old Master gave you. I’ll return him once I’m done.”
Mo Yichen knew it. Given Mo Leyang’s personality, he didn’t need a lawyer at all, which meant this lawyer was for someone else. And the only person worth Mo Leyang bowing his head for was that one person.
“Did something happen to Xingxing?”
“One word: will you lend him or not?”
Ever since being rejected by Bai Nanxing, Mo Yichen had been burying himself in work. It seemed only work could help him push his feelings for Bai Nanxing to the back of his mind. But hearing from Mo Leyang that something had happened to Bai Nanxing stirred his heart once more. “I’ll lend him. I’ll have him find you tomorrow.”
He wanted to ask more, but Mo Leyang, being very pragmatic, hung up immediately without a second’s hesitation. Mo Yichen could only rub his temples helplessly and then said to the secretary, “Go and check what has happened to Xingxing recently.”
The secretary complied and left.
That Evening, 9:30 PM
Bai Nanxing found an excuse to leave Yan Mo’s sight. He put on a black coat and headed out of the school gates. It happened to be the first day of winter, and the temperature was lower than before. Looking up at the sky, small snowflakes had begun to drift down, feeling icy against his skin.
Bai Nanxing’s gaze was vacant as he watched for a while, slowly raising his hand to catch them. A few flakes landed in his palm, quickly turning into cold water droplets before sliding to the ground. He felt just like those tiny snowflakes—his life was fragile and short. Even if he disappeared one day, he estimated few would remember he ever existed.
Heaven is truly cruel to me.
Bai Nanxing pursed his lips and shook the water from his hands before stuffing them into his pockets. He fumbled around for a moment to confirm the items were still there, then headed across the road to hail a taxi. Just as he crossed the street, he saw a familiar figure only two meters away.
Bai Nanxing’s eyes widened in disbelief, and he froze on the spot.
Mo Leyang was leaning against a Rolls-Royce, wearing a cream-colored coat. His clothes were stained with something red—large patches of it—completely ruining the expensive coat. Upon seeing him, Mo Leyang quickly walked over.
Under the streetlights, Bai Nanxing finally saw clearly: the “red paint” on Mo Leyang was actually fresh blood!
“Are… are you hurt?!” Bai Nanxing checked him in a panic, feeling all over Mo Leyang, but he didn’t find any wounds. That meant the blood on the coat belonged to someone else.
Thinking about the time and the fact that Cao Huaiyuan had asked him to meet at a bar tonight, Bai Nanxing instantly understood what had happened.
“Did you kill him?!” Bai Nanxing’s voice choked up.
“No, I just ensured he could never perform as a man again,” Mo Leyang said dismissively. He reached out and pulled the other into his arms. “If I hadn’t come tonight, were you planning to kill him and then die with him?”
Bai Nanxing instinctively tried to guard his pocket, but Mo Leyang seemed to have known already. He reached in first and pulled out the items.
It was a bottle of sleeping pills. And a retractable dagger.
“Little Junior, I only proposed recently. Are you trying to make me a widower so soon?” Mo Leyang held him even tighter. “I told you, I am your forever loyal and obedient dog. As long as you wish, I can help you do anything you want.”
Bai Nanxing’s eyes welled up instantly. He reached up to clutch Mo Leyang’s back, his voice trembling. “I want to kill him.”
Even though he knew murder was illegal, even though he knew he would go to prison, and even though he knew he would pay a heavy price, he still wanted to kill Cao Huaiyuan. He wanted to skin him, drink his blood, eat his flesh, and even grind his bones into powder to swallow.
“Mo Leyang, I want to kill him.” Bai Nanxing’s sobs grew louder, turning from soft whimpering into heavy, muffled crying. Finally, he couldn’t hold it back anymore and buried his head in Mo Leyang’s chest, crying loudly.
He finally didn’t have to smile and pretend. He could finally vent all the grievances and pain he had suffered for nearly twenty years.
For over a decade, he had lived on thin ice in the Bai family. Because of the “illegitimate son” label, he always worried about causing trouble for Bai Yi. Even after encountering Cao Huaiyuan and being molested, he instinctively kept all the bad things bottled up inside. He even used to think it wasn’t Bai Yi’s fault—that the fault lay with the other party’s powerful family influence, which allowed them to do whatever they wanted.
Later, he gradually realized that if Bai Yi had truly treated him as his own child, he wouldn’t have tolerated Cao Huaiyuan’s repeated excuses to sexually harass him, nor would he have asked Bai Nanxing to stay quiet after he escaped from Cao Huaiyuan’s clutches and tried to present evidence.
His life had been ruined from the moment Bai Yi brought him back. Therefore, he hated Bai Yi, he hated everyone in the Bai family, he hated Cao Huaiyuan, and he hated the Cao family for shielding him despite knowing of his crimes.
Years of accumulated hatred almost filled his entire life. It wasn’t that he hadn’t thought about living a normal life like other boys—finding a boyfriend who loved him, forgetting the past, and starting over. But fate was always cruel to him. It gave him hope, only to push him back into the abyss, making him struggle in agony in the darkness, bringing that lifelong nightmare back to his side.
“Mo Leyang, I want to kill him!” Bai Nanxing repeated through his tears.
Mo Leyang pressed his hand against the back of Bai Nanxing’s head and kissed his hair several times, his arms trying to pull the man into his very marrow. “I know.”
He understood. He also believed the “little thing” could have successfully killed Cao Huaiyuan. But that piece of trash with foul-smelling blood would only dirty his hands. He wasn’t worth it!
“Don’t worry, he will never have the chance to see you again,” Mo Leyang whispered, kissing his hair again.
Bai Nanxing’s crying gradually stopped. He was exhausted, slightly lightheaded from a lack of oxygen, and had almost no strength left in his body. He simply leaned against Mo Leyang’s chest. He could guess what had happened to Cao Huaiyuan, but his heart was still afraid. He asked uneasily, “The things in his hand…”
“I made him hand over all those videos,” Mo Leyang said, knowing what Bai Nanxing was afraid of. He kissed his forehead. “From now on, no one will dare to threaten you again, and none of those bad things from the past will happen. If they do, I will kill them all.”
After cleaning up the expression on his face, Bai Nanxing looked up at him. Finally, he slowly stood on his tiptoes and left a kiss on the corner of Mo Leyang’s mouth. “Thank you.”
But Mo Leyang didn’t want it to end there. He cradled the back of Bai Nanxing’s head and kissed him back. It wasn’t until Bai Nanxing was nearly out of breath that Mo Leyang reluctantly let him go.
“Will the matter with Cao Huaiyuan offend the Cao family?” Bai Nanxing asked with concern.
Mo Leyang reached out to stroke his hair. “So what if it does? Even the Old Master can’t do anything to me, let alone…”
Mo Leyang didn’t finish his sentence. He hooked an arm around Bai Nanxing’s waist and swept him up in a bridal carry.
Bai Nanxing was startled and had to cling tightly to his neck. “What are you doing?”
Mo Leyang grinned mischievously. “Little Junior, your husband helped so much this time. Can I get a little ‘compensation fee’ tonight?”
Bai Nanxing thought about how the two of them had already rolled around in the car several times last night. How could this man be so insatiable? If they really stayed together in the future, what would happen? He rejected him decisively: “No.”
He pinched Mo Leyang’s chin and teased him, “A little dog should be obedient. If the master says no, then it’s no.”
Mo Leyang took the opportunity to catch his finger in his mouth, biting it lightly. “But sometimes a little dog has a rebellious streak. What should we do then?”
Bai Nanxing felt a stir in his heart, an itch of desire. After a thought, he leaned into Mo Leyang’s ear and whispered, “Then he needs to be properly disciplined.”
