My Brother's Arranged Marriage Partner Is My Boyfriend - Chapter 65
The two of them were silent for most of the journey, or rather, Mo Leyang spent most of it posing and posturing so affectatedly that Bai Nanxing felt the urge to poke his own eyes out.
He simply turned his head away, following the principle that what the eye doesn’t see, the heart doesn’t grieve over.
However, Mo Leyang refused to let him look away. When they reached the next red light, he reached out, pinched Bai Nanxing’s chin, and forcibly twisted his head back around.
“Turning a cold shoulder the moment you’re done using me?”
Bai Nanxing glared at him, asking a soul-piercing question: “You have a problem with that?”
If those words were spoken in bed, Mo Leyang would have a hundred percent “problem” with it. But once they were out of bed, even if he had an objection, he had to say he didn’t.
Mo Leyang released his grip and planted a kiss on Bai Nanxing’s forehead. “Of course I don’t.”
Bai Nanxing didn’t believe him for a second. This man was definitely planning something perverted in his head again. However, seeing as he was being relatively obedient this time, he allowed Mo Leyang’s momentary rudeness to slide.
The red light finally turned green after thirty seconds. The cars behind them honked incessantly, urging the lead vehicle to move.
Mo Leyang stepped on the gas and drove forward. Thinking back to the conversation he had with the Old Man that morning, his eyes involuntarily drifted toward Bai Nanxing.
“Why are you so insistent on letting an illegitimate son like Bai Nanxing enter the Mo family’s door?”
Mo Yuncheng was focused on practicing calligraphy in his study. Suddenly interrupted by Mo Leyang—and with such a sensitive question—his expression darkened instantly. “I told you long ago, no one is allowed to step into this study without my permission. It seems I’ve been too indulgent with you.”
As he spoke, Mo Yuncheng looked up and pointed toward the corner where his tools were kept. “Do you want a beating, or do you want to kneel? Pick one.”
Mo Leyang glanced out of the corner of his eye at the whip and the washboard hanging on the wall. He spread his hands and smiled. “What if I don’t want to choose either?”
He had been punished plenty as a child and knew exactly how painful those two items were. That was why he decided to study abroad before he was even ten years old. Firstly, it allowed him to escape Mo Yuncheng’s control so he didn’t have to report every little thing; secondly, he could do what he wanted. He didn’t have to be like Mo Yichen, whose life was entirely orchestrated by Mo Yuncheng, even down to his romantic affairs. Living like that was no different from being a marionette.
Most importantly, he truly disliked Mo Yuncheng’s way of doing things.
Even if Mo Yuncheng was his biological father, there were no exceptions.
“What, do you think your wings are strong enough now?” Mo Yuncheng put down his brush and let out a cold laugh. “Don’t think that just because you’re older, you can do whatever you want. If the Mo family wasn’t backing you up and cleaning up after you, the scandalous things you’ve done would have been enough to land you in jail dozens of times over! You haven’t even grown all your feathers yet, and you want to challenge your old man? Have you forgotten where you came from? If it weren’t for the sake of your late mother, I would have thrashed you to death long ago.”
Mo Leyang wasn’t particularly afraid of Mo Yuncheng. Perhaps because he hadn’t spent much time around him since childhood, he treated Mo Yuncheng’s words like white noise.
Of course, it wasn’t that he lacked fear entirely, but it was more about admiration.
To be able to stand out among so many old fossils and keep power firmly in his own hands—the man clearly had talent. Otherwise, Mo Leyang would have rebelled long ago.
“What does this have to do with my mom? Even without her sake, you still wouldn’t be able to thrash me,” Mo Leyang teased. “You couldn’t hit me when I was little; did you really expect to hit me now that I’m grown? When people get old, they have to accept it. Do you understand?”
Mo Yuncheng’s mouth twitched. He reflexively grabbed the brush beside him and hurled it at his son.
Clatter—
Mo Leyang dodged easily. The brush hit the study floor with a dull thud.
Fortunately, there was no ink on it, and the floor escaped unscathed.
“See? I was standing right here and you still missed. People really have to accept their age, don’t you think, Old Man?”
Then, Mo Leyang added one more blow: “You should hurry up and vacate the position of Chairman. I think my ‘cheap’ older brother has been wanting to ascend the throne for a long time. If you keep sitting in that seat, I’m afraid he might do something desperate. It wouldn’t be good if some sort of patricide occurred.”
This infuriated Mo Yuncheng. He turned around and barked, “You bastard! Get on your knees!”
Mo Leyang spread his hands and played dumb. “I don’t know how to kneel. What should I do? Should I call my cheap older brother back to teach me? I wouldn’t mind that.”
Mo Yuncheng was both fuming and exasperated, yet he was powerless against this son. Everyone in the Mo family feared him; the moment he spoke, everyone held their breath.
Except for this rebellious son, Mo Leyang.
Not only was he not afraid, but he also seemed determined to provoke his father to death!
“Before your old man truly loses his temper, get the hell back to wherever you came from!” Mo Yuncheng panted with rage.
“I can leave, but first, answer the question I just asked,” Mo Leyang said seriously. “Why are you so determined to have Bai Nanxing marry into the Mo family?”
Mo Yuncheng’s expression turned grave. “Why are you suddenly asking this? I told you before, his business has nothing to do with you. You’d better keep your hands to yourself, or don’t blame me for disregarding our father-son bond! If there’s nothing else, you can get out now.”
Mo Leyang stood his ground, not moving an inch.
This caused Mo Yuncheng’s face to turn completely cold. “A-Yang, are you planning to go against me?”
The moment those words left his mouth.
In the next second, he heard Mo Leyang say with a smile: “I slept with him.”
Mo Yuncheng: “?!!!”
“Twice, actually.”
Mo Yuncheng: “!!!!!!!!!!”
“So, he can only marry me.”
At this moment, Mo Yuncheng’s feelings could no longer be described as mere anger; he wanted to personally destroy his son.
This kind of rebellious child was better off discarded!
If worst came to worst, he could just father another one. It would only take a little over ten years—it would pass in the blink of an eye.
“When did this happen?!” Mo Yuncheng asked, suppressing his fire. “Did you force him?!”
He knew exactly what kind of character his son had. He always played the game of coercion; regardless of whether the other person was willing, he always took what he wanted by force.
If it were a matter of genuine affection, it might be one thing, but this son of his was simply not that type.
“Answer me! Did you force him?!” Mo Yuncheng practically roared.
“What if I said yes?” Mo Leyang said tentatively.
He wanted to see exactly how Mo Yuncheng would react.
To his surprise, Mo Yuncheng didn’t even think before grabbing the teacup from the table and hurling it violently at him.
It happened so fast that Mo Leyang barely had time to react.
His eyes widened, but fortunately, thanks to his previous training, his body moved instinctively to the side. The teacup missed him.
Smash! A silence fell over the study.
Mo Yuncheng was shaking all over, the veins on his forehead bulging. His face was visibly ghastly—an expression Mo Leyang had never seen before.
“Go and apologize to him. Keep apologizing until he can forgive you. If he refuses to forgive you, then don’t ever come back to the Mo family. I will pretend I never had you as a son!”
Only then did Mo Leyang realize that Mo Yuncheng’s attitude toward Bai Nanxing was far more complex than he and Mo Yichen had guessed.
Or rather, he and Mo Yichen had seen it far too simply from the beginning.
“Why do you care about him so much? Bai Nanxing is just Bai Yi’s illegitimate son; he has absolutely no connection to our Mo family.” For some reason, Mo Leyang felt a flash of fear in his heart. “Unless… is he your illegitimate son with some woman outside? You loved that woman deeply, but you were afraid of gossip and the negative impact on the Mo Group, so you sent him to the Bai family for Bai Yi to raise. Are you this angry because my sleeping with him is… incest? Is that it?”
Mo Yuncheng was actually moved to laughter by Mo Leyang’s theory. “Have you read too many CEO novels or watched too many melodramatic family dramas? Can you get any more ridiculous? I already have enough of a headache with you boys; why would I create an illegitimate son? Am I trying to dig my own grave?”
Hearing Mo Yuncheng say this, Mo Leyang felt an instant wave of relief. “Who knows? You’re someone who could marry two wives and then have the audacity to remarry your first one. Anything is possible.”
Mo Yuncheng didn’t want to discuss that topic and pulled the conversation back. “You. Right now. Immediately. Get back there and apologize to him!”
“Fine. But first, tell me why you care about him so much.”
“I…”
Seeing that he couldn’t dodge it anymore, Mo Yuncheng gave up.
He turned toward an oil painting of a woman on the wall. His expression was full of affection, mixed with an unspeakable sadness. Finally, he let out a long sigh.
“Since you and Xing-Xing have already progressed to this stage, I have nothing left to hide.” Mo Yuncheng looked at the portrait and said softly, “Haven’t you all been wanting to know who the person I love most in this world is?”
Mo Leyang suddenly interrupted him. “Sorry, let me correct you—only my cheap older brother wanted to know.”
Mo Yuncheng: “…”
The air suddenly became incredibly awkward.
Three seconds later.
Mo Yuncheng broke the silence with a cough. “Xing-Xing’s mother was the woman I loved most in my life. This painting on the wall is a portrait of her.”
Mo Leyang had never been very interested in the things in Mo Yuncheng’s study, so he had never looked closely at the items inside. Hearing Mo Yuncheng say this, he looked up. Indeed, the woman bore a striking resemblance to Bai Nanxing.
“Xing-Xing’s mother and I were classmates,” Mo Yuncheng said to himself. “We were in the same class in our first year of high school. We were very close, and I liked her very much. But at that time, her heart already belonged to someone else—the person she liked was my best friend. So, after graduating high school, in order to completely let go of her, I went abroad to study.”
Mo Yuncheng’s tone was sorrowful, even tinged with a bit of resentment, yet he continued: “When I returned to the country, Xing-Xing’s mother was already heavily pregnant and ready to give birth. I never expected that would be the last time in this life I would ever see her…”
