My Brother's Arranged Marriage Partner Is My Boyfriend - Chapter 45
Bai Nanxing was led inside by Mo Yichen, who held his hand. Mo Leyang followed behind, his eyes fixed on that “salty pig hand” (lecherous hand) with a gaze intense enough to bore holes through it.
To be precise, from the moment Bai Nanxing stepped out of the car and Mo Leyang saw him wearing the formal dress gifted by Mo Yichen, his eyes had already been sparking with fury.
Consequently, after they entered, Bai Nanxing made an excuse to go to the restroom. Mo Leyang followed immediately, cornering him right there.
“Little sister-in-law, how does my big brother’s hand feel?”
Bai Nanxing didn’t know what the man was up to this time. He assumed Mo Leyang was just being a drama queen again, looking for attention because he was bored.
However, Bai Nanxing wasn’t the type to just sit back and be teased. He preferred to take the initiative and struck back: “Third Young Master, knowing that I am your future sister-in-law and yet cornering me here… what exactly are you planning to do?”
Mo Leyang walked over, gently pinching Bai Nanxing’s chin and looking at him playfully. “I want to feel what it’s like to violate human ethics.”
He spoke as if they hadn’t already slept together.
Bai Nanxing stood on his tiptoes and whispered with a light chuckle in his ear, “Do you know what the punishment for having an affair with one’s sister-in-law was in ancient times? We would both be drowned in a pig cage.”
Instead of being deterred, Mo Leyang became even more excited, licking his lips. “To die under a peony flower, one remains a romantic even as a ghost.”
His self-control regarding Bai Nanxing was actually quite poor. Mo Leyang couldn’t understand why it had turned out this way; it seemed they were a match made in heaven, naturally attracted to and obsessed with each other.
With just a light provocation from Bai Nanxing, Mo Leyang felt his blood boiling. If they were anywhere else right now, he would have pushed Bai Nanxing down without hesitation.
But today, he truly was in a bad mood.
Specifically, seeing Bai Nanxing in the suit Mo Yichen gave him, and seeing him holding Mo Yichen’s hand so tightly earlier, his heart had plummeted to rock bottom.
He had grown up under Mo Yuncheng’s care, and almost everything he wanted was within reach. If he wanted the moon in the sky, Mo Yuncheng would likely find a way to pluck it for him.
Therefore, in all his years, Mo Leyang had never known what jealousy felt like.
Because no one could compete with him.
And no one could win.
But now, he understood.
Bai Nanxing noticed the abnormal expression on his face. Unable to guess what this psychopath was thinking but assuming it was nothing good, he turned to leave.
But Mo Leyang clearly had no intention of letting him go so easily. With a reach of his hand, he yanked him back.
Bai Nanxing didn’t dare to scream. This was a restroom; people were coming and going outside, and they were all members of famous, wealthy families. If he shouted, it would be equivalent to stepping halfway into a coffin—someone would just need to throw a handful of dirt to finish him off.
He could only allow Mo Leyang to embrace him from behind.
“Are you crazy?!”
Mo Leyang didn’t care at all. Not only did he not care, he actually laughed. “Don’t worry, the door is locked. They can’t get in.”
Bai Nanxing really wanted to roll his eyes. Anyone at the banquet who wasn’t blind could guess that it was he and Mo Leyang inside the restroom.
However, this style of behavior didn’t quite seem like the usual Mo Leyang. He didn’t know what had gotten into him. Indeed, the logic of a madman is not something a normal person can fathom.
“Little Junior, I’m in a very bad mood right now. What should I do?”
Was it because he was wearing the clothes Mo Yichen gave him?
Bai Nanxing felt that both brothers were simply mentally ill—the kind that no doctor could cure. But he couldn’t stay here and waste time with Mo Leyang. If Mo Yichen found out, it would truly become a scene of “catching an affair in the act.”
He tried to pry Mo Leyang’s hands off to escape.
However, just as he was about to move, he felt a sharp pain in his ear.
That psychopath Mo Leyang was biting his ear!
And in a restroom!
Bai Nanxing hated doing such ambiguous things in a place like this. What was the difference between this and those people who would let themselves be taken anywhere at any time, selling themselves under a human skin?
Therefore, when Mo Leyang tried to take another bite, Bai Nanxing couldn’t help but let out a sob.
Mo Leyang paused. He tilted Bai Nanxing’s chin to turn his face around, only to find that his eyes had turned red and were moist, looking as though he had been bullied.
Which, technically, he had been.
Mo Leyang also felt he had gone a bit too far. He gave him a comforting hug and whispered in Bai Nanxing’s ear: “Don’t wander off later. This is the Gu family. That old man is very petty. He’s probably still holding a grudge over the Gu Shize incident… anyway, don’t be alone.”
After saying this, Mo Leyang let go of him and opened the restroom door to leave.
Bai Nanxing wasn’t sure if he had misseen it, but he thought he saw a sense of loss in Mo Leyang’s eyes. His whole demeanor was very different from usual, like a large wolf-dog at home that had suddenly suffered a setback and wanted comfort from its master; when the master didn’t give it, the dog would droop its head, looking pitiful.
But Bai Nanxing didn’t think this “wolf-dog” was pitiful at all. He was the victim! He was the one who deserved pity! Why did it look like it was his fault instead?
Looking at it this way, Bai Nanxing suddenly realized that Mo Leyang had some “Green Tea” (manipulative/pretend-innocent) attributes to him—the kind that were invisible and caught people off guard.
However, these little tricks might work on naive young boys, but as someone who had spent years hanging around bars and interacting with all sorts of people, Mo Leyang’s tactics weren’t enough to fool him.
After returning from the restroom, the banquet was about to begin.
The head of the Gu family, Gu Feng, led his wife down from upstairs, and everyone swarmed around them.
Gu Feng then stood on the stage, delivering a round of polite clichés into the microphone.
Bai Nanxing found it boring. After listening for a while, he took advantage of a moment when no one was looking to slip out to the balcony to get some fresh air, intending to wait for the banquet to truly start before going back to get something to eat.
As a result of spacing out, he stood on the balcony for a long time.
Just as he was about to go back inside to eat, he was blocked at the balcony door by Gu Shize and Bai Ruoning, who were accompanied by several other scions of wealthy families.
The intention was clear: they were there for him.
“Is something the matter?”
“If there wasn’t anything the matter, would we be standing here?” Gu Shize didn’t speak; instead, it was Bai Ruoning who spoke first.
Bai Nanxing knew he couldn’t escape, but he didn’t panic. His expression remained as calm as ever. “I wasn’t asking you. Don’t flatter yourself.”
Having lost face in front of so many people, Bai Ruoning’s temper flared instantly. He swung a fist, aiming to smash it into Bai Nanxing’s face.
Gu Shize immediately grabbed his hand.
“Young Master Gu…”
“Did I tell you to move your hand?”
Bai Ruoning quickly apologized, “I’m sorry, Young Master Gu. I just saw how arrogant he was and wanted to vent some frustration for you!”
Gu Shize shoved his hand away, gave him a glare, and then looked at Bai Nanxing.
“The incident last time—did you get Mo Leyang to do that?” he asked.
Bai Nanxing had no idea what Mo Leyang had actually done last time. The only reason he knew Mo Leyang had settled things with Gu Shize was that he noticed Gu Shize hadn’t looked for trouble with him since then.
As for the specific grievances between the two, he had no interest in knowing.
Bai Nanxing smiled slightly.
Gu Shize became even more incensed. “What are you laughing at? Does this mean you’re admitting it?”
Bai Nanxing looked at him with a serious face. “Do you think I could make him do something like that? Or rather, do you think that given my status, he would even look at me, let alone go to such lengths for me?”
Gu Shize thought about it and realized it made sense. Mo Leyang was a mad dog; there was no way he would take an interest in an illegitimate son like Bai Nanxing.
In other words, the incident last time was something Mo Leyang chose to do on his own.
But why did Mo Leyang ask him about Bai Nanxing then?
Was it simply because he was worried Bai Nanxing would disgrace the Mo family’s reputation and wanted to do a background check in advance?
That explanation did indeed make sense.
However, Gu Shize felt that the reason he had suffered was entirely because of Bai Nanxing. If it wasn’t for Bai Nanxing, he would never have provoked a mad dog like Mo Leyang.
So, ultimately, Bai Nanxing shouldn’t have appeared in front of him at all.
“Heh, that’s true,” Gu Shize curled his lips. “But who knows if you two are hooking up behind the scenes.”
Bai Ruoning chimed in from the side, “There’s no need to guess. He’s exactly what you’re thinking behind the scenes, Young Master Gu. He’s just like his mother—didn’t learn anything useful, only learned how to seduce people. It’s truly disgusting.”
Ignoring him, Bai Nanxing said to Gu Shize, “Young Master Gu, do you dare to say those words in front of him?”
Having his wound poked, Gu Shize was momentarily speechless.
That mad dog wasn’t even afraid of his old man. This was the Gu residence, so Mo Leyang might not actually do anything to him here, but it would be hard to say what would happen afterward. That mad dog would definitely kill him.
“You think I’m afraid of him?!” Gu Shize bolstered his own courage in his heart.
“Is that so?” Bai Nanxing teased. “Then take me over to him right now. I’ll be your witness.”
Gu Shize hesitated.
At that moment, Bai Ruoning suddenly interrupted, “Young Master Gu, don’t fall for his trap! He’s intentionally trying to provoke you. If you really take him to Mo Leyang, you’ll be playing right into his hands!”
Being reminded, Gu Shize snapped back to reality.
He glared viciously at Bai Nanxing, a cold smile pulling at his mouth. “I almost got played by you. You want me to take you to that mad dog so he can help you escape, right? Bai Nanxing, you’re really something, tricking me again.”
Bai Nanxing glared at Bai Ruoning out of the corner of his eye. When he turned his gaze back, he saw that Gu Shize was holding a glass of red wine.
“Don’t bother looking; that mad dog isn’t coming to help you.” Gu Shize held the red wine over Bai Nanxing’s head and began to pour it down bit by bit. As he did, he said, “If that mad dog came to help you, guess what people would say with so many people here today, including Mo Yichen? So, don’t even dream that he’ll come over. As for Mo Yichen, do you think he actually sees you as his marriage partner? In the eyes of the Mo family, you’re nothing more than a pet that can be discarded at any time.”
The red wine flowed from the top of his head to his neck, and then down his chest. In the season approaching winter, accompanied by the wind blowing onto the balcony, a chill instantly surged from the soles of his feet to his forehead.
Bai Nanxing gritted his teeth and didn’t make a sound.
