My Boss Transmigrated Into a Maid and I Became Gay - Chapter 41
Lu Ying finished packing her things and prepared to make a run for it, having arranged to meet “Green Hat” at the company’s back entrance.
She was immensely satisfied with her new nickname for the boss. After climbing into Jian Qin’s car, she suddenly thought of the contact name again and nearly burst out laughing.
Jian Qin caught the curve of her lips out of the corner of her eye. “What are you thinking about? You look so happy.”
Lu Ying instantly wiped the smile off her face and said seriously, “I was thinking about the details of today’s training, reflecting on which areas need improvement.”
Jian Qin: “…”
Judging by her expression just now, that was definitely a lie.
Lu Ying had no idea where the boss was taking her. The car twisted through several turns before stopping at a roadside parking lot. After a short walk, they arrived in front of a small, unassuming storefront. It looked humble from the outside, but pushing the door open revealed a whole new world.
It was a private kitchen specializing in Jiangsu and Zhejiang cuisine. There was no main dining hall, only individual private rooms, offering excellent privacy. As the server asked for their reservation number, Lu Ying realized this wasn’t a spontaneous trip—President Jian had planned this well in advance.
Once they had ordered, she propped her chin on her hand and looked at the woman across from her. “You planned to bring me here all along.”
“Mm, you caught me.” Jian Qin reached over to ruffle her hair. “You performed very well today. Training is hard work; of course I have to reward you.”
Lu Ying bit her lip to keep from smiling too broadly. She cleared her throat and said with practiced modesty, “It’s because Sister taught me well.”
Every time she called her “Sister,” Jian Qin felt a swell of warmth in her chest, a unique sense of fulfillment. But Lu Ying didn’t use the term often. In the past, it was “President Jian” this and “President Jian” that; since the switch to “Sister,” she mostly avoided addressing her by name altogether.
Jian Qin tapped her fingers on the table, deciding it was time to address this. But before she could speak, Lu Ying launched a preemptive strike.
“By the way, I noticed you’ve always called me Lu Ying.”
“Back at the milk tea shop, everyone called you ‘Sakura,’ so I followed suit.” Jian Qin curled her lips into a smirk, interlaced her fingers, and watched her with interest. “What would you like me to call you from now on?”
Lu Ying furrowed her brows in a conflicted look. “It should be something special, right?”
“Ying Ying?”
“…”
Jian Qin was the first person outside of her family to call her “Ying Ying.” Her voice was clean and crisp, her tone gentle like unmelting honey, and that slight upward tilt at the end of the name carried a distinct sense of indulgence.
Lu Ying felt her face turn a shameful shade of red. She loved the way Jian Qin said her name; in that moment, she felt like she was the only one in the woman’s world. She hid her face in her hands and, after a pause, whispered in a voice as tiny as a mosquito’s buzz: “You… you can call me that more often.”
Jian Qin was charmed by her adorable reaction. At first, she let out a soft chuckle, but then she leaned back into the sofa, hand pressed to her lips, her shoulders shaking with laughter.
“…” Lu Ying dropped her hands indignantly. “Is it that funny?!”
Jian Qin shook her head, still smiling. “It’s not funny. It’s just that you’re very cute.”
She had long known this girl was cute—cute when working hard, cute when helping others, and cute when pouting after eating too much. But she hadn’t expected that when the girl started viewing her as someone intimate, she would become even more adorable.
Lu Ying pouted, clearly unsatisfied with the answer. However, another question crossed her mind.
“Actually, I’ve always felt like I didn’t have any specific traits that would attract you,” Lu Ying said, dropping the playfulness and looking at her quietly. “Why… why do you like me? Just because I’m cute?”
Jian Qin’s smile faded, replaced by a serious gaze. “It’s not just because you’re cute.”
“What else?”
“There are many reasons.” Jian Qin paused, a hint of a smile returning as she recalled the past. “Most importantly, the lemonade you made was very good.”
Lu Ying: ???
What kind of reason is that?!
Jian Qin didn’t intend to explain further. Just then, the signature crispy hairtail arrived, and she immediately placed a piece in Lu Ying’s bowl. “This is delicious. Try it.”
With food in front of her, Lu Ying temporarily abandoned her questions. Jian Qin watched her bury her head in her meal and smiled softly. That cup of lemonade four years ago had been the rope that pulled her back to shore. If not for Lu Ying… she would have long since sunk into the mire.
Jian Qin didn’t want to tell her about those unpleasant things. She wanted Lu Ying’s world to be forever filled with sunshine.

After dinner, as they walked toward the parking lot, Lu Ying was debating whether to ask for a ride home when she heard the boss say, “I’ll stay at your place tonight.”
Lu Ying: !!! [Shocked-eyes.jpg]
She hadn’t had time to tidy up! No… wait, that wasn’t the point. The point was she only had one bed!
“I-I don’t have another bed at my place…” Lu Ying stammered.
Jian Qin frowned and tilted her head. “When Yu Linchuan stayed over, did she sleep with you?”
“No!!” Lu Ying denied it instantly. “She slept on the sofa.”
Jian Qin’s expression relaxed. “Then I can sleep on the sofa too.”
“No way, I can’t let you sleep on the sofa. If anyone’s sleeping there, it’s me.” Lu Ying realized as soon as she said it that something was wrong. Wasn’t I supposed to be discouraging her from coming over? Why am I arguing about who gets the sofa?!
Realizing she’d been led astray, she quickly added, “My place is too small. Maybe we should just forget it…”
Hearing this, Jian Qin stopped walking.
“I’m going over because I want you to pack your bags and put them in my car. I’ll take them to my place tomorrow, and on Saturday, we can head straight to the lake.” She paused slightly, then added, “Or, you could pack a few more things.”
Lu Ying stood in a daze, her brain doing several mental laps before she understood what President Jian was suggesting. This was the second time she had invited her to live together.
“I’m afraid I’ll be a bother…” Lu Ying whispered.
“With me, anything involving you is never a bother.” Jian Qin said, suddenly taking her hand, her voice softening. “Once I move to headquarters, if you live far away, I won’t be able to see you for long stretches of time.”
It was the first time Jian Qin had used such a tone with her. Lu Ying, who already had very little resolve, was completely swayed.
Oh god, I’m doomed. Since when does President Jian know how to act spoiled? This isn’t fair!
Before she knew it, she was wrapped around Jian Qin’s finger. Once home, she busied herself tidying up while the boss sat in the living room working. After packing her suitcase, she clapped her hands and let out a long sigh.
They had agreed that Lu Ying would officially hire a moving company over the weekend. Lu Ying insisted on paying rent, and after some negotiation, the “landlord” set the price at a firm 520 yuan a month. Sister Zhuan’s rent in the same complex was over three thousand; Lu Ying felt she was exploiting her, but the landlord was stubborn. She finally agreed.
Anyway, we have a long time ahead of us.
*****
At bedtime, despite Lu Ying’s strong protests, Jian Qin took the bedroom and Lu Ying took the sofa. She hadn’t lied to Sister Zhuan—this sofa really was quite comfortable.
Lu Ying rolled over, clutching her duvet, the image of President Jian in her cartoon pajamas burned into her mind. She buried her face in the blanket and kicked her legs. It felt shameful, but also incredibly cute. She never could have dreamed of seeing President Jian in pink bear pajamas!
Lu Ying couldn’t sleep, and neither could the woman in the room. Wearing Lu Ying’s clothes and breathing in Lu Ying’s scent, Jian Qin felt her heart drifting in a restless sea. After lying there for half an hour, she sat up, put on her slippers, and gently turned the doorknob.
The person on the sofa shifted at the sound; she was clearly still awake too. Jian Qin walked over and crouched down. “I should be the one on the sofa.”
“What’s wrong?” Lu Ying had just burrowed into her blanket in excitement, but hearing the voice, she pulled it down to reveal her eyes.
Jian Qin spoke the truth: “The air is full of your scent. I can’t sleep.”
“…” Lu Ying’s face turned a violent red in the dark. She yanked the blanket back over her head, her muffled voice sounding from beneath the fabric. “It’s late at night. Don’t say such misleading things.”
She heard Jian Qin let out a light laugh. In the silence of the night, every sound was magnified; that laugh hit her ears like a feather, tickling her.
Jian Qin pulled the blanket down. “You didn’t misunderstand. Go sleep in the bedroom.”
Lu Ying gripped the edge of the duvet and didn’t move. Jian Qin, at a loss, suddenly had an idea. She leaned over, unerringly finding the place she wanted to kiss in the darkness.
Soft lips met. Faint sounds flowed between them as the night amplified every sensation. Lu Ying instinctively raised her hands to loop around Jian Qin’s neck, but the woman used the opportunity to pull back and scoop her up.
It was the familiar princess carry. But while before it was carrying her out of bed, this time it was the opposite.
Lu Ying’s heart was pounding so hard she seriously wondered if she’d be able to function at work tomorrow. The bedroom door was kicked open, and she was laid flat on the bed. She waited, eyes closed, heart filled with both nerves and expectation.
Is it… is it happening?
She waited for the kiss to land again, but after a moment, she only felt a soft peck on her forehead.
“Goodnight. Sleep well.”
The woman who had just kissed her forehead stood up and left, considerately closing the door behind her.
Lu Ying: “…”
Dammit! Give me back the mood I just spent all that effort building!!!
